Motoblur 2.2 ? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When this is released for the droid x, will it port over to the nexus? I cant see going to verizon's inferior cdma technology and slow 3g for one phone that may possibly be left in the dust with updates later this year.

Any word if T-Mobile US will be getting the Droid/Milestone?

I've been a WM fan for years but recently a friend got the Droid on Verizon's network and I got to play with it and really liked it.
I know I can get an Euro Milestone but don't want to give up 3G speeds here in the US.
Are there any talks of getting this phone or the new updated one on TMO?
forget it man in US if you want to buy a motorola droid the only way is verizon
Yeah, it's basically Verizon's version of the iPhone (since when they released it/a short while before they released it it they made all the comments on how the Droid could do so and so and the iPhone couldn't do so and so (which of course since it's the iPhone, there's quite a few things it won't do that the droid will xD) so it's Verizon's major competition with the iPhone), chances are they won't give it up. T-Mobile gets the Nexus one though, which is a fantastic phone (with the exception of the lack of a keyboard, but you'll get used to a touch screen keyboard after a while).

[Q] Unlocking a droid

i really like the droid but i have us cellular. im not a big verizon fan since when i had them the service wasnt great. so is there a way to unlock it and use in on us cellular?
How long ago did you have they're service. I've Bennett with Verizon for atleast 5 years. Services has always been great never had many blackout areas and not one dropped call. My data is fast and Verizon support allowed me to get a free Droid upgraded when I had to replace Eris 5 time for trackball problems. Didn't coust me my two year upgrade, they did a warranty replacement. But two answer your question I know it possible to flash it to cricket so might be possible for us cellulare just try some online searching for a process to do so or look into cricket maybe.

Not to be redundant but just want to mention about 6 years ago I worked for Lucent technologies installing the cell towers in Connecticut, Massachusetts, new york, and new Jersey. To tell you the truth out of all carriers, Verizon was present at more of the sites we installed than anyone else, we did more upgrades for them and was most of buisness while I was employed by Lucent, the only other one close was at&t, and Nextel but neither of they're services still can't touch Verizon's.

[Q] Due for upgrade

Hey guys,
I'm set for an upgrade, I'm looking for suggestions on what to get. Should I get something now or wait little while for something good that's coming out?
I hear people chattering about the Nexus Prime and SGS II. Personally, I'm on the Evo 3D, and love it. The only problem with the new 3D's is the hboot. Can't fully get s off.
Motorola Photon!
my upgrade is in december. im gonna see if i can get sprint to give me the early ok so i can get somethin on black friday..... hopefully the 3vo for nothing.
tl;dr - I'm not upgrading anytime soon because of LoS issues on the SG2E4GT and WiMAX is on the way out.
I've been off-contract since August. I was all set to get the SG2E4GT until the LoS issues became so prevalent, and I did some research into how slow Samsung has been to issue updates/fixes for their other Android phones (at least on Sprint, anyway). This has also kind of made me a bit cautious regarding the Galaxy Nexus since it too is a Samsung device.
Granted, the above issues may become moot once CM7 is up and running on these phones, but then there's also the problem of Sprint converting their 4G network to LTE over the next 1 to 2 years. Since I live in an area with zero WiMAX coverage (Metro Detroit), I'm reluctant to get a new phone right as WiMAX is going away, especially since I'm not paying the magical $10 'premium data' fee, and CM7.1 is running like a champ on my old Hero.

I'm in the same boat -- why buy a wimax phone (GS2) when lte is coming to Milwaukee next year? Does the photon support LTE? Maybe the Nexus will. Any other lte-ready phones from sprint?

I could certainly be wrong, but I don't think any of their current phones support LTE.
Also, I read this article today from phandroid.com:
If you’re a Sprint customer, you may have found yourself recently looking for new reasons to stick with the carrier after their “Season of Change” removed a lot of customer perks. As most of you have already heard, ‘Ol Yeller is getting their new LTE network set up for next year but what you may not have known is the carrier is also planning on rolling out an LTE-Advanced network for the first half of 2013, with voice over LTE (VoLTE) devices scheduled in the first quarter of that year. Sprint’s VP of network and development Iyad Tarazi spilled the beans while speaking during a breakfast meeting at the 4G World conference.
Mr. Tarazi also mentioned that 12 LTE devices are currently scheduled for 2012 with Sprint planning on covering between 250 – 277 million people with blazing fast LTE by the end of 2013. How’s that for sticking with #3?
If you’re curious about the fate of your currently equipped 4G WiMax devices, Sprint’s agreement with Clearwire means you will be covered for at least the next few years. That’s about 60 in smartphone years. With this new development are any Sprint customers going to wait it out? Or have you already been seduced by the blazing fast data of other carriers?

So I agree...why lock in to a WiMAX phone now (unless you get great WiMAX coverage in your area) when LTE is in the pipeline?

No more CDMA support from Google!?!?

Does this mean we're screwed?
http://androidcommunity.com/google-...ces-including-verizons-galaxy-nexus-20120203/
No our phone isn't a developer phone it has no affect on our device just google supported devices such as nexus devices or the motorola Xoom cdma/lte edition.
Sent from my DROID BIONIC using XDA App
If you read the whole article, basically it states that the files that allow for cdma connectivity are closed source, so they cant completely support the devices. Google will keep making aosp roms that will work on pretty much anything, but cdma carriers will have to decide if they want to make them work for their phones and release them, ignore the update, or stop supporting devices altogether, as they always have.

Luckily for us Bionic owners, this would seem to mean little to nothing negative. If you carefully read the full article ( and between the lines a little bit ), this would seem to only apply to the Galaxy Nexus and the Xoom ( devices that debuted new releases of Android, and therefore are most likely updated by Google ). Other phones that use Android should be unaffected, because Verizon apparently already codes their CDMA drivers by themselves. Even if they don't, they have a baseline, and I've listed reasons below why it will be in their best interest ( and possibly Google's as well ) to make sure CDMA is fully supported on their Android devices.
Here's some reasons that make me think that even if CDMA is not coded by Google now it will either be worked on by Verizon or force Google's hand into working on it again:
If CDMA is abandoned by Android, all Verizon Android phones would no longer recieve updates for 3G data connectivity. Forcing Verizon out of the market or forcing them into having to update the drivers themselves anyway. In short no 3G = no Verizon smartphones and No Verizon Smartphones mean Verizon looses a huge amount of money... There's no way they're giving up that big a market share.
Verizon is a huge supporter of Android ( at least in terms of marketing ), if the Droid family goes, Android would probably be superseded by WP7 or iOS, or at the very least lose a huge amount of marketing and market share. Basically this puts it into Google's best interest to keep Android going on Verizon too.
CDMA is Verizon's 3G implementation. 3G will not be gone for years ( Verizon is still selling 3G only phones that 'require' 2-year contracts, so we have 2 years at the very least )
I'm not completely sure on this one, but I've been told Verizon uses CDMA for voice as well. This would mean if they give up CDMA support for Android, their Android based phones ( the whole "Droid" series and more ) would all not receive updates for voice either.
I know this is long-winded, but I hope it makes my point clear. There is no reason for CDMA to not be developed for Verizon Android phones, and even if development stops in that area, there is still working support for CDMA in Android already. Worst comes to worst, you wont receive updates for 3G connectivity, but it will still work just as well as it does now.
Hope this helps,

[Q] Possible to unlockt heis phone for service on Boost Mobile?

So, I'm on tmobile, ad want to switch because it's too expensive for a phone I don't like that much (Mytouch 4g slide; crappy keyboard, sense infected 2.3, glitchy, etc.) I was thinking of witching to Boost mobile because they are cheaper, and have the Samsung transform Ultra, which despite being "low end" works great software wise and is stock, good keyboard, I know this from experience.
But then i thought about the Droid 4. I might be able to stomach the capacitive front keys (maybe) and its pretty high end. so I figure i'd try it, but I see it's GSM is not unlocked for US GSM carriers yet. but i wonder, would it be possible to unlock for Boost? that's a Sprint subsidiary, if that helps.
Also, Looking up info, I see there's supposed to be an international GSM version coming out, the XT898, announced a few months ago but nothing else announced yet that i've seen. anyone know about that?
P.S. does the mobile Chrome browser work on the Droid 4? It works on My iconia tab but not my 4g slide, so I figure it's an issue with the firmware version.
*edit* meant to say "this phone" in the title. damn arthritis. this is why I need a better keyboard.
Seems like some folks have been able to move Verizon CDMA phones to Sprint's network in the past. Have no idea how difficult that would be for the D4.
