I noticed that in some custom ROMS that there has been an icon for the antenna that gives more info than just Edge or 3G. I cant remember what ROM i saw it on but i was curious if someone has this as a stand-alone that could be loaded onto a stock, rooted FRF91, that would be great. As an alternative, if you could point me to a ROM that has this, i'd give it a try.
Custom ROMS are nice, but many are too flashy and colorful for my liking.
I think you're talking about the H icon for HSDPA its from cyanogen

It's possible to manually add this feature in ROM non-cyanogenmod?

I really liked Villain 5.0's circular battery meter, the wifi icon and the mobile internet icons. So i decided to port those bits over to 5.22. All you have to do is either:
-Push framework-res.apk to /system/framework/
OR
-Flash update-villain5.22-theme_signed.zip using Amon Ra's Recovery Menu
Enjoy
Nice!!
Thank You
BTW. Does it contain the sync icon as well ??

Nah, it looked way too out of place for me, so I decided not to port that over, it's the stock sync.

This still has the plane 2 thin white arrows in a circle, the first CDMA ROM port had the 2 fatter arrows one orange & one blue (if I remember rightly) I don't think they turned round, but they looked a lot cooler, to me anyway.
Any way of getting that included as well?
Or was it a different ROM I'm thinking of...?

I was hoping to find JUST the 3G and Wifi that you can see in this topic's first post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=678093
and also if possible a theme to remove the clock. I already have a circular battery theme.
Trying Kevlar Mash... didn't work for me the other times I tried but whatever.
Didn't work again. Sprint port.

For clock removal, look in Hero section. That is where I got the MOD for my MM.
I'll try that, thanks.
edit: Which Hero? G1 or CDMA?

CMDA. That phone is pretty much exactly like ours.
kay!
i have a cm htc dream/sapphire 32a rom with the gingerbread UI on it.
i think it looks pretty slick... it's a little sketchy in some aspects, but... you don't have to use it if you don't want.
i hold no responsibility for bricks, nuclear holocaust, or ninjas.
credits:
jm5503 for providing the system dump.
dsixda for his android kitchen that i used to make the rom.
whoever made betterzip.
last but not least, cyanogen and his team for the rom base.
i highly recommend you donate to any of them.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11673095/framework-res.apk.zip
if i'm breaking any uploading rules, pm me and i will remove whatever needs to be removed, and i apologize in advance.
I flashed the magic_gingerbread_mdpi.zip via recovery and hpne hangs on bootloop.
EDIT: My bad - I forgot to flash kernel
great job! thank you! and go on working and make it better, notification bar background need to be whole black i think

make sure you don't have the custom notification bar selected under CM settings.
i also forgot to take that off until you mentioned the bar not being solid black.
This looks amazing on my Cyan Mytouch, but there are some places where the text is still black along with the black gingerbread backgrounds, like when you press the "Menu" button at the homecreen, or in the browser. And the satus bar icons are a bit....small. Still goes great with the gingerbread keyboard, though.

thank you, sir.
it's my first tampering with framework files... so i think it's slightly successful.
if anybody wants to fix the problems, that'd be awesome.. i don't exactly know how.. and i'm pretty happy with it as is...
the only thing i don't like at the 'down arrow' buttons... they look.. dodgy. but whatever.
this doesn't work for me
is it because i'm using the 28.25 radio?

it's a cyanogen rom for the htc sapphire/dream, except it's with gingerbread framework..
so if cyanogen roms worked for you before, this one should indeed work for you, if you're flashing it to your htc sapphire, or dream.
i'm running radio-3.22.20.17
i'm thinkin' a mod should move this to the htc sapphire/magic sub forum.
mod, plz?

Yeah, I got working
Only problems i've seen are the blacked out text in menu and the rough pixelated corners around some things
Pretty nice I must say, looks pretty legit

Replace Cezegg's "menu_background_fill_parent_width.9.png" with one that has a lighter background.
Alternatly, here are all the framework icons I'm using to duplicate Gingerbread's UI in CM61's Froyo...
http://id242.com/cm/framework-CM61-GB23-TNP-ID242.20101207.rar
i flash this: cyangenmod/topic/11654-gingerbread-theme-and-keyboard/page__gopid__101006#entry101006
, and the notification bar and icon has changed, but not button, checkbox change.
P.S.: make sure go to cyanogenmod settings>user interface>notification colours> UNTICK 'custon notification bar' and 'custom pulldown bar' so that you can get a whole black notification bar.
Will this framework-res.apk work on any CM 6.1? I'm on a SGS Captivate running the experimental version of CM6.1.
I tried some of the icons out this morning, and i didnt like the wifi signal ones, they looked sorta like they were poorly made. But the others looked nice!
edit:
probably because my device is a hdpi and not mdpi
Will this work on CleanMagic 5.0.1 rom, or it has to be CM?
I was looking at the Screens of Cubed ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106515) and I was wanting to get my hands on a standalone version of the Signal Mod that's in there.
Thanks much!
If your are on froyo change the images in HTCresources.apk. if you are on gingerbread change systemUI.apk.

oh wow i looked at that roms screenshots and didnt even realize that's what it was..love portal.
If I could remember where I found it I would tell you. The original was all blue though, not multicolored, I changed that.
The images are in com.htc.resources.apk\res\drawable-hdpi.
D
I would love to do this like you can via xposed on Kitkat.. Many feature packed KK roms is able to do this..
Is it easy to do or?
I really dislike the LTE icon ?
All help is extremely appreciated..
Just change the image in systemui apk. Not difficult to do at all.

Isn't 4G the same as H+ and H is 3G so LTE would be LTE of I'm not mistaken. I'm sure this could be changed easily if you know where to find the time and edit it.

H+ is advertised as 4G but its really 3.5G, its just all weird marketing terms. It is easily changed its in /res/xxhdpi, find _lte and replace it with the one with _4g. Easy to do.

I see, my H+ speeds are generally 20-30mb/s so that's not bad at all but not 4G thank you for clarifying that. Can you change it via a root explorer or do you need to pull apart the whole settingsUI?

Would you mind explaining? Can't find it..
You could create a ZipThemer theme for it if you had the images. Not difficult.
Interestingly my phone displays 4g resources, not LTE.

Don't know how do that..
Mine does show 4G on stock and on some of the custom roms, but not all and since this is the xda forum I thought someone would know how to do this and would be kind enough to tell me
A zipthemer theme replaces resources in your ROM & creates a flashable theme that you install from recovery. Its not difficult to create the theme & I may have time to make it for you in the next day or so.
I would need a copy of your SystemUI.apk though, for the image names.
EDIT: Sorry, actually this won't work, because the icons are in .xml now, not images. If it was images it would be easy.

Thank you for your help and sorry for the late response..
If both 4G and LTE XML's are in the same folder could I just delete the LTE XML??

No, then it would give a error because its trying to find a LTE XML file and its not there.
You're better off just leaving it, its just cosmetics. Not that big of a deal than to go through the hassle.
I'd go look and find it for you but thats only for that particular set up that its not worth it.
