Im running frf83 on my rooted nexus one, i have found a few versions of frf85b and frf91, flashing them comes up successful but when i restart, settings says im still at frf83.
Ive heard that you can now unlock without affecting the bootlocker, so am i getting the wrong files? If so can anyone point me in the right direction? (im not an advanced user but im not too bad)
Please help thanks
PS i tried to post links of the files i have but wasnt allowed. they were both from htcpedia. com.
I'm also looking for a usable+deodexed FRF83-FRF91 update.zip.
This is the official download but I cant apply it because of the custom recovery, and all the files have a ".p" suffix (patch files)
http://android.clients.google.com/packages/passion/signed-passion-FRF91-from-FRF83.4bf74f06.zip
If nobody responds I will go back to the stock recovery and try again.
I'm averaging 3 reboots/hangs a day on FRF83...
i have the same issue... i cant update from frf83 that is installed. i am getting OTA updates and nitifications but adter reboot its frf83 again, i too have a custom revovery and i dont know how to go back to stock
Any luck with solving this?
Have you tried this perhaps?

I need help quick! Im stuck on rc29 and I cant update!!! Everytime i try to unzip the Update.zip folder it tells me Signature (302) failed or something like that. It feels like ive tried every single download possible. Ive tried to go rc29 to rc33. Ive also tried to go rc29 to rc30 but none of them seem to work or is it me? HELP!!!
thanks!
surely you have been here long enough to realise that you get no love when you ask in the wrong section
Did you rooted the device and installed custom recovery image???
It seems like you tried the roms without flashing the custom recovery image as the custom roms cannot be flashed with original recovery..
The best custom recovery is Amon Ra 1.6.2 for the dream and magic..
However you should be able to flash the official OTA updates like cupcake or donut.. straigt from RC29 without rooting the device too..
Thanks!
Moved as not Android Development.
sorry about posting in the wrong section...my bad!
and how would i force and OTA update?
i dont have a option for system updates..
oh and also, i always get the corrupt file with i try to flash a official update...any ideas?
I'm currently trying to get a completely clean orginal Froyo install on my phone. I tried to search here, but what I found doesn't fix my problems.
My Nexus One was on ERE27 when I got it (bought used). I unlocked and rooted it, flashed Amun's recovery 1.5.3 (later 1.7.0) and after trying Cyanogen 5.0.6 and installing the EPE54B radio I finally went to Enomther 1.8.1 and later 1.9.2.
Now I'm trying to get a completely stock Froyo on my phone.
I flashed an ERD79 stock image using the PASSIMG.zip method, figuring I'd then get the OTA update to FRF85B, maybe with an intermediary step via ERE27.
When I dial *#*#checkin#*#*, it just says "checkin succeeded", though, and doesn't provide an update.
Unfortunately, my original nandroid backup was lost in an sd-card screwup, so I can't go back to my original ERE27 system, either.
So I tried to update to ERE27 using the stock recovery and the update.zip from ERD79 to ERE27, but I only get the <!> sign and a green android, nothing like "apply update.zip" to choose. (I never used stock recovery, so I don't know how this is actually supposed to look like.)
I could do this using the custom recovery again, but with that I can't flash the original Froyo update. I couldn't find a stock recovery image for ERE27 anywhere, but the update ERD79->ERE27 contains stuff for the recovery partition, and I don't know how to get that updated correctly.
Any hints/links?
What puzzles me most is why I don't get OTA updates on stock ERD79. Any ideas on that?
Stock ERD79 stopped giving updates a couple of weeks before Froyo started.
Head over to Developers section, download stock FRF85B build for flashing on non-stock recoveries, from Lox's thread. Flash it and you're set.
Ah, ok, so that's why I don't get updates. Thanks.
My phone is running build FRF33B (googling this build number returned no results at all). It was a non public build. I got the phone from Adobe as part of a (kongregate) promotion to get flash developers to edit some games so they could run on froyo, and hence I really don't know what was done to the phone before I got it (there's an unlocked symbol when it boots, and even though it's a t-mobile nexus I'm using it on AT&T's network).
FRF33B is nice and usable (but full of minor bugs which get irritating after a while), and I'd really like to update to the latest stable build, but it's not receiving any of the OTA updates, and trying to install any manually gives me a package signing verification failure.
Does anyone here know how I can update the phone? Do I need to downgrade it somehow? Do I need to root it? Any help would be appreciated.
Downgrade to erd79 would be my best suggestion and it will update to frf91 I hope that helps and if u need a update zip let me know and I can email it to u
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Or just unlock your phone, put a custom recovery, and install whatever ROM you want. Look at the sticky in the development section for details.
Option 3: Search around for the FRF91 Universal update.zip, copy it to your SD card, and flash it via stock recovery.

ok I've done this, and flashed the universal FRF91, now the phone is stuck on the animated X, is this normal? Do I just have to wait or did I do something wrong?
edit: it looks like it just rebooted itself.... still not getting past the animated x part though
edit: wiped the phone and tried again, now it works... got to set up everything on the phone again though and download my apps again... oh well. thanks for the help
I'm inviting all you guys shoot me down for the noob i am.
I've search and i have found, I've read but only partially understood.
the background:
-Nexus one on vodafone epf30
-Downgraded to erd79 using fastboot (via Terminal in Mac-osx).
-Rotted and installed Amon recovery with sucess.
-At this stage i tried to install a variety of different pre rooted roms
- upgraded to frf91 OTA after giving up on trying to root froyo
I basically just would Froyo 2.2 rooted on nexus one.
I've found a variety of different methods and techs but haven't had any success i can downgrade again and again but each attempt i reach the update.zip stage and simply get a varification failed message.it's likley ive missed something here?!
I'm on mac and I'm sure I'm not having the update.zip.zip issue. ive checked and double checked, (that same issue caught me out before on symbian).
Does anyone dhave a simple deffinitive soloution or can point me in the right direction/
im aware this post will cause a shower of "search you noob SCUM!" style posts.
cheers in advance

"By Popular Demand (Credit to lox):
Update.zip to flash with custom recovery"
Download, update using AmonRa's recovery, reboot to bootloader, flash new radio from any Froyo ROM thread in Development, reboot, enjoy.
hi, thanks for your reply. I'm pretty sure i have tried this method. if i down grade to erd79 can i apply this from there or should i go up to ere27 ? and does this require amons recovery or can it be done from a standard recovery?
Sorry im a symbian migrant :-( this is all new and exciting
ok so i down graded again to erd79 then rooted and installed AMONs recovery
installation of update.zip fails with the verification failed, is there something about AMONs custom recovery that im missing should what could be the cause for the verification to fail. im pretty sad now.
maybe there is a way to flash pre rooted Froyo directly using super boot?
maybe i need to be up
You've already installed a custom recovery. Basically you are done the whole rooting process.
No more need to downgrade or anything of the sort. Now you just go into recovery and flash what you want, no other steps.
Now you should be able to flash any custom rom meant for unlocked users.
You may be trying to flash the official 2.2 rom, try looking for a 2.2 for root users. Or try flashing CyanogenMod 6.
Are you sure you have Amon's Recovery because my buddy though he had it and he didnt which is why he couldnt install a rooted froyo ROM. Try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=702191
ok ill give that rom a shot though i think my main issue could be the fact im using mac os x the downloader in safari automatically unzips .zip files so maybe recompressing the zip is causing the varification to fail.
ill have a go when im home and at a faster net connection work is like 0.2 up and down makes me feel ill!
Oh ok. I have a MAC aswell but I use google chrome for my browser.
OMG! mods lock this down! no need for anything more to be added!
MAC = FAIL
Windows+win
all you have to do is download using anyother browser DONT USE SAFARI!
and success will be yours! rebooting now to pre rooted custom frf91 WOOP!
Hey OP,
Actually you can still use Safari as it does unzip the file automatically but it also downloads the zip file so you end up with both. At least my MAC does this. MAC's are great, Safari on the other hand is junk so don't blame the whole computer for the browsers fault.
I just got a Nexus One that was ROMed and rooted (has RA-nexus-v2.0.0 recovery) and enom's 2.14.2 ROM. I don't very much like it (seems slow). I am trying to go back to STOCK Android 2.2.2, with Root access, in preparation for 2.3's release. I know how to use ADB so that's not my problem. I've downloaded FRG91 in hopes that I will get an OTA to FRG83G. Now here's where I start getting problems. I go into Recovery, go to Flash Zip from SD card, and try to flash it, but it says it doesn't have signatures. md5sum is correct so that's not it. Can anyone help me out? I've tried doing about 10 different things so far and none of them have worked. Maybe someone else has seen this? TIA.
Have you try to toggle signature verification off?
Here's a rooted 2.2.2 rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=927935
I haven't. I think I might have found a way to get this baby working. I'm working on it now. If I need anymore help, I will re-ask in this thread. Thanks for the tip though, didn't think of that!
Alright. I think I got it to work. Had to do some fenagelling, but I got it back to stock 2.2.2 Official.
Admin, can you delete this post?
You can't flash stock roms without stock recovery, Google's signature is on the stock roms so only stock recovery recognizes it. There is also a option in your custom recovery to turn of signature verification. I wouldn't recommend that you try, because I don't know what would happen. But it's a option, if your that hard pressed to go back to stock. Another note, since the G1 days the devs built their roms to stop OTA updates. So if you flash stock recovery, then you may need a stock rom to receive a OTA. I wouldn't get my hopes up about getting Gingerbread or Honeycomb OTA. I don't see anything on any android forum about this happening, I could be wrong though. If you can get your hands on a stock recovery image then you can flash with adb or fastboot commands. Good luck.

Turning off signature verification works fine. No problems whatsoever flashing stock ROM/updates.

OTA updates have nothing to do with a stock recovery. All newer versions of Amon_RA and CWM custom recoveries have signature verification toggles, so you can install OTA updates without problems.
The only thing is that you need to have a stock ROM (not de-odexed, and not an AOSP build) for the OTA update to install.
