I had never really messed around with rotation, as the default ROM doesn't really have a ton of support for it. However, I recently updated to CM 5.0.8 and even after enabling the 270 degree rotation, I have 0 functionality either in any of my main screens or my photo gallery.
1) Is there an app or something that can verifiably check the functionality of my phone's rotation?
2) Are there any other troubleshooting steps
3) If it's broken will HTC warranty it seeing as the phone is unlocked?
TIA
From a custom recovery (at least Amon_Ra's recovery), select the "Wipe rotate settings" option and see if that helps.

hey guys, i am running JACXHERO 1.8 and i love the rom, one problem though. when i flashed the rom i had that text box with the circle around the M and it wouldnt go away so i just de-selected touch input and then pressed home, and tried to go back to settings and enable it again, but now i cant even access locale and text, when i click on it i get a FC. if i remove HTC_IME.apk via appmanager i can access the menu... i have tried pushing HTC_IME from the .zip file of the rom and no luck... i am about to try an older HTC_IME. you guys have any other ideas, or a way that i can enable Touch Input without accessing that Locale and text menu?
Long press hold on a text box and it will have a menu allowing you to select Input Method.

Probably because you disabled On Screen Keyboard via the Locale and Input Menu... not much you can do to fix that other than re-flash the ROM. =/ Sorry.

ok thanks. quick question. can i just reflash without wiping everything? i know its a noob thing to ask but wouldnt the reflash just fix anything i have changed as far as the ROM is concerned. if not no biggie i can restore all my apps, i just was trying to find an easy way to get it working
@ palosjr: did you ever figure this one out? i'm having the exact same problem and I've flashed the ROM like 7 times, but nothing helps.
Hi there guys,
I'm completely new to this and need some help with:
1) Patching the kernel manually. I have the txt file which needs to be patched. I have installed ClockworkMod and am currently running Revolution HD 1.1.7.
2) Secondly, I'm having problems with the proximity sensor only during calls. The thing is it operates in reverse. When it is far from my ear, the screen turns off but when it comes close, the screen turns on. I've asked at the proximity sensor thread the makers of Revolution HD pointed to for such issues but did not get any reply as of yet.
Is this a common issue with custom roms?
3) How do we know when a custom rom has been successfully flashed? I flashed Revolution HD followed by the no-Sense script but was still seeing remnants of Sense when receiving a call with the screen locked.
4) Will a hard-reset affect the custom rom?
Thank you so much for your time and patience.
I also have an issue with the proximity sensor.
Update:
I fixed my proximity sensor problem. The problem was the belt-case it was in. Some of the leather was messing with the proximity sensor during calls.

1> your kernel will most likely be in a .zip file. Go to settings > battery > uncheck quick boot or whatever its called than long press the power button and select shut down. Now after you've done that hold the power button and the volume down button down for 5 seconds and than release that will bring you into the recovery menu. Than your going to select recovery using the volume buttons to move the selection and the power button as an enter key. Than your going to select install from zip, locate the file from your SD card select it click yes install and you'll see the file being installed in the terminal at the bottom. After it says complete hit restart now and your good to go!
3 > you'll know its installed by going to settings > system info or about phone > software or something and it will list your current rom as well there should be an absense of the "sense version" parameter if you flashed the no sense patch
4> no
For me, it was an issue with my hair
When I held the phone up to my ear over my hair, the screen doesn't go off.
If I tuck the phone right against my ear with my hair tucked away, works as normal.
How strange. Hope this helps someone else.

make sure u don't have any autokill/fastreboot apps... and make sure u don't swipe away Settings from the task list. if u close Settings the Tap2Wake will reenable. this is a bug in all CM-based roms.
Thankssss i will try that one
but now i got another problem when i am trying to wipe data from cwm its giving me error formating error skip formating likewise
Hey thanks for ur help u were rite it was clean master which was auto killing the settings and so the double tap function was getting started thankssss now every things working fine now
Sent from my Xperia ZR using XDA Free mobile app
If you would still like to use Clean Master, or kill the settings app without any worries, follow these steps.
Clean flash the build you want, preferably latest.
When it boots, do not allow the screen to turn off. This is imprtant!
Go to settings, change all the settings to your preference.
Once you're done, uncheck "Double tap to wake", if you haven't already.
Don't close Settings. Reboot from the power menu.
Done. Screen will not become unresponsive anymore, as long as you do not open the display menu in the settings app. If you do, you will see that the double tap option is disabled. Leave it like that, change the settings you want, then reboot without killing the app.
Bottom line: After doing this, it's perfectly fine if your auto clean app kills Settings, as long as you haven't opened the Display menu.
Hello all,
I just updated to stock 4.4.2 with Sense 6 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224752 ). Everything works fine, EXCEPT that when I try to access the "Settings>Personalize" menu, it does not open. Nothing happens.
Is there a reason why this is the case? Is there anything I can do to correct it? I'd really like to access my Theme options.
Thanks in advance.

Edit: Issue Resolved after turning off "Fast Boot" in Power Settings and rebooting.

maybe a factory reset, backup your files before if you try it.
Hey guys n girls,
Basically my S3 doesn't sleep anymore the screen stays on 24/7? I can't lock the screen using the power button and it doesn't even lock it's self? Even timed lock doesn't work it just stays lit all the time. It's really annoying when I need to sleep at night too plus it chews the battery and will run out before morning so I have to put it on charge when it doesn't need to be charging.
I've wiped and done a factory reset and it does nothing to fix the issue. I've reinstalled fresh both 4.4.4 and 4.4.2 and both still have this issue? I'm about to flash back to 4.3 or even 4.1.2 if I have to.
Yes I've checked the file inside /efs/imei and it has the text "No" which I believe has been the fix for most other people with similar issues? However one striking difference between my issue and most others I've read on XDA from various Samsung devices is this: I still have access to my power menu and my phone doesn't look to be in safe mode?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I think is a hardware related issues. Have you tried taken the battery out? This probably won't do a thing but would not hurt to do so.
Also update your software using KIES just reset using it too.
Hope it helps...
Cheers bud. I have been around here for quite sometime now (no spring n00b is what I am saying) but cheers for your response.
For anyone suffering the same fate....I couldn't find a solution so I pretty much did:
1).a nandroid backup;
2).then titanium backup (just incase and for when I restore later on);
3).I then wiped via recovery;
4).then flashed 4.1.1 stock via Odin;
5).flashed recovery via Odin;
6).rebooted into stock ROM; checked that I DID in fact have lock lock via power button (which I did - as I thought);
7).flashed 4.4.2 via CWM zip in recovery;
8).signed into accounts (*unchecked restore data* THIS IS A BIG MUST! If you are new here make sure that no old data is interferring Google sets the checkbox to restore previous data by default - NOTE: Put your phone into airplane mode ASAP after first boot and signing into your Google account, uncheck sync which is ALSO set by default, then uncheck restore application data).
9).restored via titanium backup (only restored the absolute necessary i.e. text messages, calls and contacts);
10).Go through the tiresome restoration process via Titanium backup (invest in Pro if you have to - it's certainly worth while!)
Now enjoying fresh working firmware with power button locking the lock screen as it should. Have no idea what caused it and I guess I will never know? All I know is that it wasn't the usual suspects when it came to my issue (it never is actually)
