FRF85B preinstalled applications - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What applications come preinstalled in the FRF85B Froyo update?
I'm trying to work out which applications I can remove that I had previously installed but are now in the ROM to recover some storage memory back.
Thanks,
Mark

[Q] Updating Apps

I am currently running MCR r21 and using stock apps to sd. When an update comes up in the market for an app which is moved to the sd, I always get an error updating the app. For it to update I must move it to phone storage first, then update.
Does it happen to you too? Somehow I think this did not happen before, apps would always update whether on phone storage or on sd storage, but maybe I am wrong and it is always a must to move the app to phone storage before updating the app.
Thanks for your help.

[Q] Lost apps on SD

After installing CM6 RC3 I have lost all my apps on the SD card, they did come back for a short time after a reboot but then disappeared again after another reboot. I cannot even uninstall them or reload them from the market as they just hang when I try to uninstall or re-install from the market.
When I look at application info, the apps on the SD just show "Computing" and nothing ever shows up.
Also, I am unable to mount the SD over USB.
I have gone back to stock ROM but I still have the issue.
I was using apps2SD but I made sure not to move any widgets or running apps.
I've tried booting into recovery to wipe data and cache but of course my recovery is broken.
If I missed this in the forums please give me a search that will give me results that are not too numerous to parse.
Thanks for any help.
There is no apps2SD support in CM6 or the stock rom, that's why you can't see them.
CM6 only support the FroYo apps on SD method right now, and they are working on a newer better apps2sd for future versions.
If you flash back to CM5, you might be able to see them, but I am not familiar with the old apps2SD method.
Then why did my apps show up in CM6? They were there and functioning fine, I think I must have messed with a setting somewhere.
FYI, I was able to restore my apps by deleting .android_secure from the SD card and then re-install Ti Backup and restore my apps.
Can someone explain how the app location setting in CM6 affects apps? I am thinking when I enabled this it screwed things up.
The .android_secure directory on the SD card is the 2.2 official apps to SD. So you probably were using that all along and something screwed up. That's why you could use them for a bit.

[Q] Cannot Install to or Transfer apps to SD

I am rooted and running firmware 1.0.1 but cant install apps to SD and in the application settings I don't even have the option of transferring apps to SD. Also cannot get apps like App2SD from the Market.
For the first couple of weeks I was able to install non-Market apps. Now I am unable to do that. Allow Non-Market Apps box is checked.
Does anyone have any insights, ideas, recommendations, solutions, workarounds and experience with these issues. Perhaps an obscure setting I am unaware of? USB Debugging is already selected in Development.
Thanks very much!
Am assuming you have Nook Color Tools installed .. try opening that and unchecking the Allow Non-Market box .. close the app and reopen it and now check the allow box and see what ya get .. sometimes this 'fixes' the problem ... also am unclear on why you cannot get Apps2SD from the market .. can you elaborate? .. Cheers

Isn't apps2SD Froyo only? Might be mistaken, but thought that was the case...
Any apps related to installing apps to my SD or moving them from internal to SD or from SD to internal are unavailable to me---they don't show up as an option when I view Market. My understanding of that is that it means the apps aren't compatible with my Nook or with the configuration. I have access to Market apps in general but not to apps related to SD functions. I will try unchecking the Allow Non Market apps box.
Larger concern is the inability to install to or transfer apps to SD. That limits me to internal memory.
Appreciate your input zdrifter. Hope the weather in Jupiter is good.

System ROM space

Hi all,
my Gtab P1000 2.2 rooted is out of space.
With Titanium Backup i've seen that i have only 5 MB available in system rom space
infact i tried to install an application of 13,62 MB and i'm unable to do it.
Is there a way to clean up system rom? is the fault of the installed applications?
thanks
one last question: my tab is rooted if i upgrade to gingerbread would i re-root the device?
move some app from your phone to sdcard
use titanium if can do so or search on the market there is alot of them up there
I've already copied some apps to sd but nothing is changed.
i ve 2gb for apps and i have 1,46 gb free
system rom is almost empty. If i uninstall apps or move them in SD nothing change....
I'm having the same prob. I've moved all programs to SD (via move to SD card or link2SD program) but it doesn't solve the message or the quota.
I think it's a bug.

Installing applications to SD Card - FroyoBread

I got this doubt.. I was using stock ROM (Android 2.1) and kernel for my X8 and i had app2sd 2.1, when i recently updated to 'latest' FroyoBread.. I had problems with updating, so i removed app2sd, reformated the SD card and it worked.
When i finally moved to FroyoBread, i started installing the applications, and just got stuck! And it said that there are no more space for any more apps.. I used app manager that came with Froyo, to move some apps to SD, but that didn't seem to do the trick.. Reinstalling app2sd didn't also work..
Do i need to setup some other version or there's some catch?
Before installing the apps:
Go to settings/CyanogenMod settings/application/install location/and tic the external option
After installing the apps:
Go to settings/applications/Manage applications/tic SD tab to manage..
widjet apps must install to internal
Thanks for this, was wery helpful
Not to open another thread.. Would anyone know how to make my phone auto capitalize letters after 2 or more dots, question marks etc. When i place only one, the phone will auto capitalize the next letter.. But when i add more it wont...
