Google Privacy Wifi - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is Google syncing wifi passwords with your account? Must be; my replacement n1 automatically knew my wifi wpa key once I synced my Google account. trying to locate granular limiting details. Thanks

It has an option of "Back up and restore phone settings". Those probably include WiFi passwords.

Watch out, they may fly out to your house, sit outside, join your wifi and then steal all your personal data

Only messing is this a big problem anyhow? I'd see this as a plus rather than a negative, it's not like you are trusting a random third party with your details.

have you tried removing the password in both boxes and then perhaps the tick box then goes black again for you to remove it? or try setting it to alphanumeric and then back to simple pin then try?

This has been discussed so many times.....
It´s your exchange server enforcing a security policy. There´s a registry hack (you´ll have to do a qucik search for that), that disables that policy, but only until your server re-enforces it - how often depends on your server setup.
Other (better) solution: do a search for "StayUnlock", which will effectivley disable the policy enforcement.
Good luck!

imap gmail

Hello,
I'm having problems setting up my gmail account on my device with dutty's latest supported ROM. I cannot select the account type to imap although I typed it correctly in the box above. It just wouldn't allow me to select anything. Please see picture below
I appreciate any help

setup a fictious email as if it wasnt gmail....ie [email protected]
that way it wont find the auto settings for gmail.
then you should be able to pick imap as your protocol.
This problem isn't specific to Dutty's ROM and should not be in the ROM development forum. I've moved this thread to Kaiser general...
FWIW, if this thread *was* specific, it should have been posted as a reply in Dutty's thread.
hi there, i dont think my answer has much to do with your post. however, i am using a free service called www.mail2web.com to get my gmail...its a free exchange server...go check it out...
thanks
its a wm6.1 "issue" if you want to call it an issue. as long as it knows the email address it will use its auto config file. so you need to fool it....give it an address it DOES NOT know...then it will give you the option to manually configure.
so instead of listing [email protected] [email protected]. the next screen will give you options to set it up manually...there you can also change the email address back to what its supposed to be. also make sure you're using imap....enable it in the gmail settings.
your servers will be this..... imap.gmail.com:993 and smtp.gmail.com:587
enjoy

App Hub Registration issues

I've registered my windows live account with App Hub, and also verified that I have been billed for it. Yet when i try to login to App Hub, i always end up at the page below.

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Also, i am unable to register my phone as a developer's. I get the following error.
Is the App Hub page broken, or am i doing some mistake? I am not able to access their forums to raise this issue since everytime I login it takes me to that stupid screen. Any ideas guys?
The simplest thing to do is to have your
Computer country
Live Account ID's country
and Phone's country set to : USA
hope that helped..
I went to Microsoft billing, and delegated to another account in which everything is set to USA. Now atleast i am able to login in and access the forums etc. But still the same screen pops up. I've raised a message in the App Hub forums.
Can you tell me one more thing? How do i solve the second screenshot which i've posted? And also, am i supposed to get a mail from GeoTrust? Still havent got it.
For your second screenshot, I also had the same problem but the forums there explained that you need to get validated by GeoTrust first. How do you do that? You need to submit an app first.
Yeah I know it sounds dumb, but basically I just did the HelloWorld tutorial and submitted the xap file. This initiates the GeoTrust validation process, and you should get an email within 24 hours. Then you should be all set to register your device etc.

[Q] Gmail Auto-Sync (push) disappeared...

Something weird just started on my Bionic...
Gmail is set up (has to be so I can use google play) and has worked for the entire time I've had my bionic...
3 days ago I noticed that I quit getting gmail notifications... if I opened my mailbox I could press refresh and the mail would update....
So I thought to myself...ok, I've turned off the sync.. so I went to accounts and into my gmail account... to my suprise, the auto sync isn't there... I'm going to try and attache pictures of what it looks like...

If I touch the SYNC GMAIL it syncs
So I thought again, ok, just delete the account then put it back in...
I get the infamous You can't dumb a.s.s. error
I've went into applications and remove the cache on the gmail app, I've tried everything I can think of... any help would be greatly appreciated.
Tim
I didn't get any replies here but did on another forum.
Some solutions suggested were:
1. make sure your gmail account is set to sync
2. Menu > More > Settings > touch your account > check your settings on Sync inboxes and labels, Email notifications, and Labels to notify
3. make sure your autosync is on in your power widget
(Thanks gsDroid)
These seemed to help one other user that had the same issue... they didn't help me, so I ended up doing a factory reset...
Just thought I'd share in case anyone else has the problem or has any new suggestions!
Thanks,
Tim

Notification: "Allow the WAP Push application to receive messages..." What to do??

Notification: "Allow the WAP Push application to receive messages..." What to do??
I don't understand what this is all about. I just got this phone last week, and ever since it was up and running, including first boot (if I recall correctly), I've had this cell-tower-like icon in my upper left corner. Always. Swiping down from the top reveals the following notice, and I'm given the chance to allow or deny.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Googling the content of this notice doesn't yield anything very informative, so I have a few questions:
1.) Is this coming from some app that can be disabled or uninstalled if I choose? Or is it part of the Android Oreo OS itself?
2.) What does it do if I allow it? Might it be useful or just some kind of spam?
If it's relevant, this phone was the international version, with the firmware probably Chinese (but of course I switched the language to English). Thanks for any info/help!

WAP push allows photos, URL links, wallpaper, ringtones, etc etc, to be directly embeded into SMS messages, so long as the sending server has it enabled.
It's an effort to bring SMS up to the speed of instant messaging, although it's probably a bit too late to catch up. Enabling it doesn't mean it'll work either, it has to be enabled with your service provider also.
I have mine disabled, effected nothing.
Theres quite a good explanation on StackOverflow
