I really like Gmail's select text function in menu> more.. However, I use my exchange email daily. This function would definitely make life easier.
Is there a way to add this feature to In-built email?
I look forward to your replies. Thanks
well, if no one has ideas on how to do this exactly, can someone just guide me in the right direction.. I will figure it out. What needs to happen to modify the in built email app to have the copy paste feature like the Gmail update?
is it possible to port the email app from Desire Rom?
Any shared thoughts/comments will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.
Porting from the Desire is almost certainly easier. But, if you feel like manually modifying the app, the source code is here, I believe:

Hi - Long time reader, first time poster. I've been using Android since its days of inception, and following a specific feature that has been an left out since 1.0 was released #1128; I also encourage you to star the issue/feature if its important enough for you. The stock Email app pre 2.0 was a joke at the least, although 2.0 made it far more robust, this specific feature is no where near resolution. I wanted to know if others in the forum have found a solution (another app, modified Email app, etc) instead?
If not, then I'm willing to take a stab at the Email app code and see if I can add this feature myself. Before I go that route, any suggestions are welcome.
*bump* Are there really no suggestions on this guys? I tried K9, and it doesn't offer the ability to move emails between folders either
I don't think there is an existing thread on the subject, and I just came across a fantastic tablet-optimized replacement for the native email client. Moxier Mail is far prettier than the native client, has support for Exchange TASK synchronization, allows you to flag items complete (not just "star" or "unstar" them), access your mail folders via their actual tree structure, and turn on synchronization for any number of folders (not just your inbox).
Unfortunately, its widgets are neither re-sizable nor terribly attractive (IMO), but I think that is a small price to pay for the other functionality it adds.
Definitely a good looking app. I am going to give it a try. One big feature I am looking for is the ability to actually turn off the account temporarily. For example, if I setup my work/corp email on there, and I go on vacation, I don't want my xoom beeping all day lol.
But definitely nice find. Thanks!

There's actually a toggle switch in the app (looks like a light switch) that flips auto-synchronization on and off. It's in the bottom-right corner of the main dashboard screen.

Double thumbs up ;D
Just installed it, going to give it a go. I also just noticed that it works for Phones as well. I am going to give it a shot on my EVO. (Not a fan of Touchdown). So this could be a nice alternative.

I actually use Enhanced Email on my phone. It is a slightly tweaked version of the native client that gives me most of the above features in a clean and simple interface. (Touchdown is just SO ugly.) Let me know how Moxier looks... I might switch if it transitions well from the tablet to the phone.
Thanks. I will try this out.

I use EE too. Mostly because the server security protocols / device admin rights can be tweaked by user. The remote wipe security option is optional on EE. Trying Moxier today and the interface is pretty cool and it seems to avoid defaulting Exchange admin rights to wipe device. Anyone with knowledge or skills about this able to confirm this?
Fyi: Decent widgets.

It's a bloody beautiful app, no two ways about it. Highly recommended. Tried everything, ended up buying this one. For tasks support mostly. Veruy polished and stable. Can turn emails to tasks and calendar. Nice widgets.
I almost purchased Moxier Mail Tablet version until I discovered that there's an issue with attachments download in the current version. Link to the support thread for this issue below :

I noticed there is no RSA security support. Is there any word if support is coming? My wife's work is predominantly email based, and she would love this for work, but they're RSA secured.
I've got another one for you guys- Kaiten Mail - It's like K9 reall but slightly adapted and works brilliantly with gmail-type interface
Moxier (tablet) downloads attachments without any problem for me, from Hotmail to 1 device and Exchange to another. Does it nicely also, since the interface is pretty intuitive.
Confirmed...no issues downloading, opening/reading, and sending attachments with Exchange.

Can someone tell me how it works with folders for exchange account.
I have loads of folders for server side automatic rules and moving. My problem is I have a few sub sub folders with the same name. The every all so far has issues with this. The I want to see how many unread emails per folder rather than just unread.
Also there seems to be a couple of versions which one is the best?

So I've been thinking that any time i try to use the share button in a browser, gallery, ect..... why cant you ever select gtalk to share any thing to. I know i can cut and paste but why no option for gtalk. Just wondering if its just me or others are thinking the same. Give me some feedback people. Could some even implement an app to allow it?
Totally agree gTalk needs to be added. I use it more than SMS, email or any of the other available share methods.
I think you'd need to talk to the gTalk folks for that. My understanding is that the app lets your system know that you can share through it, and the system adds it to the list.
Hey guys, I'm relatively new to the android programming scene and I'm trying out a simple app idea I have. My app idea is to be a way for people to make posts to facebook and that's it. I've got the code working but what really bugs me is how the logging in system works and how the posting system works. The way I have done it, the app does not handle the authentication flow nor the posts, but rather a pop-up comes up and asks them to sign in or make a post - similar to using the browser. This does not work with the design of the rest of the app along with slowing it down. I need help. I want my app to authorize the user, similar to how the official Facebook android app logs people in; there are no pop-ups and everything is handled by the app (same to be done with making posts). If you guys could help me out by blatantly telling me what to do, sending me any articles that explain how to do it, or any other help I would appreciate it. Thanks!
NOTE: I have glanced around the Facebook developer site and I'm completely confused by their documentation. I know there's something about fragments, but I'm not sure if I understand it completely.
Okay guys, I found this thread at Stack Overflow and found the answer. In case anyone else had a similar question. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...x-send-to-the-users-wall-with-facebooks-andro
So, there have been a ton of complaints about the facebook app on windows phone 8. Am I missing something? Why would anyone put an app on thier WP8 phone, when the People Hub ties all that together? I don't even have a facebook app installed, because everything I need to do is done from the hub.I can post an update, check in, see my notifications, whats new specific to my stuff or my friends that I have grouped exclusive.
So what am I missing?
Nothing. Some people are not used to having working things out of the box, so they just download apps to replace what the system already does.
My point exactly. I would even go much more further, I would ban all FB, Twitter... apps from the market since they r not needed at all. Instead, I would want some RDP apps for free, also some good database apps etc...
Good! I thought it was just me! Thanks guys.

There is quite some functionality in the Apps though that is not available in the Hub. It's conversation views in Twitter or Groups in Facebook. If you use those Features you can't rely on the People Hub alone.

Groups in facebook? Isn't that the same as Groups in the stock app? I don't do twitter, so cant answer to that. But still have found more functionality as well as easier interface when using the stock app on the phone.
I think OP has to look at things way wider. Maybe you just treat your phone more personal...
1)Facebook app can allow me lend my friend/families the phone and he can have a quick look at his facebook. (more social)
2)Facebook allow me to take control of another account I own( not saying about pages though, not sure WP8 facebook app can allow users to manage the page we owned)
3)respond to friend request.
4)As for myself, I have subscribe to many funny pages and news ones, the endless timeline give me look at what I have missed unlike the facebook/twitter integration,it does limits certain number of news/tweets and we can't scroll down after that.
I think these are the things you missing, might be more when compare to facebook apps on other platform since facebook app on wp has lesser feature.

Yea, my friends are goofballs. If I let them have access to my phone, I get crazy posts on FB, and my profile picture suddenly changes to a crotch picture. So, no one gets to screw with my phone except the better half (and now Jr thanks to Kids Corner). But then again, I do the same to them!
And I don't have more than 1 facebook account, but I see where you can add accounts, so maybe someone who has two accounts can try to add an account under thier different one? Might allow it, although, I think it would merge the two, which could become confusing.
And I have not noticed friend requests, so will have to see if I get one recently and see how that works.
I see where your coming from, guess since I am not a power user I don't utilize all the capabilities that FB has, nor the native / 3rd party app.
Thanks for clarifying, FINALLY some one did! Thanks!
Groups are not the same as WP Groups (well, something similar exists with the lists Feature but that's an entirely different Topic).
Facebook Groups can have members and have there own pin wall, calendar, etc. You can use them e.g. to bundle all the Information on a certain Topic like e.g. when you are part of a certain Club. To my knowledge I can't Access those from the People Hub.
I'm only using two of them but those pretty frequentlly. There are other Features not used by everyone but rather important to others that are not available in the People Hub.
Thanks for the info!

It's missing a lot of the interaction you'd get from the website or a third-party app, for instance:
The messaging app does not pick up Facebook message threads, for one (Just chats).
You can't edit your own status updates.
You can't friend/unfriend people.
The Facebook People Hub is meant more for getting the basic info on people that you have on your contacts list and to keep them in the loop on you. That's it. I think these limitations are by design.
