radio 1.17.29.09 thread

Now the question is, which one is the most stable radio?
Share your experiences?

1.17 is for sure best in terms of not having the heating issues unlike 1.16
But 1.17 has been reported with random signal drops which i do totally agree as i've been using it, but it has not caused an issue to an extend that it drops my calls.
Its prob the radio that is able to reach most bars although it seriously varies from 1-3 bars randomly.
This is all based on Australia, somewhere in Melbourne btw.

I'm using Radio_1_16_25_48.zip
nice but the signal is weak

Put the rilphone files in here with em and you've got yourself a golden thread.
Personally I use 1.16.25.48 with the 1.14 rilphone, and I get 3-4 bars damn near everywhere in the south east. I even occasionally manage 2 bars at my mother's home, which is literally in a dead zone (even with the 2 bars, that only means texting. The moment you try to make a call, it drops to one bar and the call goes in and out, or it stops working entirely)

i would really appreciate it

Thread Stuck.

The rilphones can be found at various places within these forums. I have 2 of em but they're on my flashdrive which is presently 120 miles south of my location (soon to be about 600 miles north of my location). When I get back from vacation though I'll send them to you if nobody else has posted them up.

the dll allows windows to interface with the hardware radio and a new radio firmware usually comes with a new rilphone.dll containing new or updated instructions/code
the dll is often packed as a cab file which you simply install, otherwise copy dll to \Windows folder, the cab does exactly that
the main radio-version threads should also contain the respective ril somewhere
does that answer your q how to use it?

Not sure what he's talking about... neither of the rilphones I've used have caused such issues, and furthermore, I've even used them without using the radio they're specifically intended for.

Hi Guys,
just a question, my phone is only hard-spl, can I flash the radios??
Tks

Allow myself to introduce......myself

Hey everyone, I am new here and figured it would be good to introduce myself.
I have been a proud XDA/SX56/PPCP owner for about 3 months now, I started out with a Sidekick from TMO but after a week with the thing I noticed the PPCP so I exchanged it and haven't looked back since.
I presently work for Cingular wireless and unfortunately can't even use the thing on my own network thanks to Cingular not supporting the 900 freq in my market yet.
I stumbled upon this site about a week or so ago and have been reading up on virtually every post going back for damn near a month.
Sorry if I ask some n00b questions sometimes but please bear with me because I definitley search before I post
Welcome and hang in there as far as Cingular not supporting the 900 band. If memory servers me correctly there was a European / Asian radio stack that supported a lower band. You might also want to try changing the band from the boot loader and see if that helps.
In the mean time I'll see if I can located that 850 band RS for you, I know
I got notes on it somewhere!
HTH
wow, I appreciate it.
Just checked my bootloader and all I had was 900 and 1900.

Ok below is what I found in my notes regarding the 800/850 band:
"The VERY BEST combination ROM/RS for users in Asia/Pacific and probably also in Europe, is in my opinion and to my experience with all of them the combination of:"
ROM: 4.00.11 ENG
RSU: QTEK 3.25 or
RSU: O2 4.21 (Asian version from HKG)
So it appears that the QTEK 3.25 RS or O2 4.21 "Asia version" should do the trick.
For info on the 800/850 band take a look at the below site:
http://www.phonescoop.com/glossary/term.php?gid=115
BTW for some unknown reason T-Mobile RS 6.24.1 keeps
popping up in my mind as supporting the 800 band from the boot loader,
I might be wrong but thats also worth a look!.
In the mean time I'll keep digging!

Thanks alot for the help, would I specifically need the 4.00.11 ENG rom or would it work with my TMO official 3.14?
So I may be having difficulty connecting to cingular because it runs in the 850mhz band everywhere?

i Have an AT&T N1 with 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.12_7 baseband... is this my problem?
Was this radio/rom made for Tmobile Nexus?
do i have to put back my original radio/rom?
That is the only radio compatible with 2.2. I don't see the GPS icon in the status bar, is it on? There are many threads on how to flash a radio image, just look or search.

Yes, but remember this is not the final release of 2.2 so the radio might not be the final version as well. Also, if I remember correctly, this was only recevied by T-Mobile version phones.

Yes, you could... but this may cause problems with video recording... there are many post which explain this... apparently, the radio is tweaked for the 2.2 release and has some video related stuff in it...

should i leave it like this and wait for a while? or should i flash my old radio and put back my backup?
It's simple, if you want 2.2, deal with it. If you want 2.1 flash it and a matching radio.
Why do you keep asking what you should do?
Thnx but... i really dont need you talking melike that...

You just seemed to be pestering him...
My 2c, flash it again and see if its working, otherwise switch over to 2.1
OP, it's ultimately up to you.
You have to decide whether you like FroYo or quick and accurate GPS positioning more.
Personally, I'm sticking with stock (rooted) FroYo (at least until the next CyanogenMod is released!) - the speed improvements along with the various other little tweaks have me hooked, and those are more important to me at this point than a 100% accurate GPS position. If you're using the nav features a lot, though, you might prefer to revert to 2.1 with an appropriate radio.
so is it guaranteed that froyo will give location / GPS problems on the att version with the new radio? or is this just an isolated issue?

Many guys are facing this exact same toruble, im still using this radio but im wating the oficial froyo rom to be released
i can confirm i have this location bug as well in froyo. using the ATT nexus and no matter what i try to do, my location is off by about 50-100 yards. i updated the new radio and everything. when i flash back to cyanogen the location immediately pops right back to dead on position, exactly where it should be. i've flashed froyo twice now and both times it still has this error.
lets hope google catches this and fixes it! its very possible they might not pick up on this bug since you REALLY have to look close to notice it.

There is something that you have obviously overlooked.... in your picture, the GPS icon is not present, which means that your GPS is TURNED OFF!!!!
You are using NETWORK LOCATION, which is only as accurate as the nearest CELL TOWER. Try turning your GPS ***ON*** and trying again!

Thanks for the help, but I've d/l'd those before and the one I usually get, 710, is always build #89, not #65...
The reason I'm being so picky, is because when I'm running the #89, I get FC's for phone app when receiving some calls and wifi tether freezes the phone (only fixed by battery removal) when stopping the tether.
Any help?
I've been testing out the darchshizz #1, the one that is supposed to fix this problem, and it's good so far, but I get a lock screen lag, just briefly, when coming out of sleep, etc...
Guess nothing's perfect though

It's really brief. Basically it's like right after pressing the END button, to come out of sleep, it takes the devices about 1.5 sec to turn on the screen, then I have to wait approx. 1 sec for my button lights/trackball to light up, before I can drag my unlock (via the screen) to unlock the phone.
Like I said, it's really brief, and 1s is approximate. I've got mine clocked at 537-691 but notice this regardless of clock speeds.
And I just saw you were talking about this in a different thread already, so I didn't need to explain it I'm sure, but just in case, I'll leave it in, LoL.

This one claims to have fixed that
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705074
As for the lag. Are you using an OC app/widget? I noticed lag when I was using one and had it lower the frequency when asleep. It would lag when it turned back on b/c it took a second to set the frequency back up. Other then that, I have always experienced a little delay even when stock.

[ROM] YetiROM_Nexus_Inc (Vanilla 2.1)- stable

Alright XDA'ers... I finally got this thing working. As far as I can tell it's stable and runs well. All components of the hardware are functional and I haven't had any problems with it thus far. The only bug I am noticing currently is that it takes a little longer than I would like for the mobile network to load (it's not instantaneous) and the camera is only capable of 3M.
Other than that- this is a port from Nexus One shipped rom ERE27- stock 2.1 as Vanilla as the Yeti's driven snow. No frills except root/superuser and wifi tethering. Also I am using the undervolt stock speeds kernel that ejhart posted a few days ago- it's been very stable on my stock setup and has been very stable throughout this build.
Here's the link- download it, put it on your SDcard, backup your current rom, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, install.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/mtmann3qog1/YetiROM_Nexus_Inc.zip
Hope you like it...
Let me know what you think.
Known bugs as of 06-29-2010:
-GPS not fully functional (not satellite locks)
-Visual Voicemail
-Auto-dim setting not functional (light sensor does not appear to function)
-Camera 3MP (I know this was already stated)
-Does not include Corpcal.apk for exchange calendar syncing- fixed (thanks to ihtftp69 for providing the link)http://www.multiupload.com/L27MSUCMGX see post #53
-Internal storage not recognized
-Facebook won't add to Account Sync
-Bluetooth not functional

Have you been able to thoroughly test this rom? Any known issues?
damn, 65.9 mb? um isn't that a little low?
Just installed this rom. Gonna give it a test run.

Known issues are as stated in the OP- slow start for mobile network and 3M cap on photos. I think the pixel limit has to do with the Nexus camera and oem software limits imposed on the hardware. I'm not that into cameras on my phones so it's not a deal breaker for me. The pain right now is waiting the minute or two to get 3g up and running post boot. Not sure what's going on there so if you have any suggestions I'm open to giving it a whirl if I haven't tried it already- wifi works and you can make calls immediately- just the 3g takes it's sweet time getting off it's ass to come out and play.

It feels about right to me... available memory is doubled post boot and battery drain so far is much less than stock. Also boot time is seeing a decent improvement.

Let us know how it goes. If its stable ill port some kind of theme to it. Can you test market? Protected apps and whether or not it lags?
@yeti can you de-odex?

For whatever reason I've been having trouble deodexing this rom- it's a shipped rom so everything should be there. The .jar's are deodexing fine, but the .apk's are failing due to a missing boot class path " " so for now I'm just leaving it as is. You can have at it- maybe you can tell me what I'm doing wrong...

Have you tried xUltimate? http://www.droidforums.net/forum/xeudoxus/47283-release-xultimate.html
I would have at it, but im definitely a themer and not a dev.
I just got this ROM up and running.
It has done a couple of fast reboots on me so far, and you can't sync your contacts with Facebook... Those are the only 2 things I have seen so far. Other then that I'm loving it!

What happened with the fast reboots? Hasn't happened to me yet and I've been up and running for a while...
Yeah- the facebook thing- I didn't know if that was just a stock deal or not- the inc is my first foray into android.
It also seems to have issues with root explorer when it comes to mounting then unmounting... failed at replacing the bootanimation.zip and manually removing the apps I want gone.

[Q] Signal trouble but don't understand what

So, I installed SlimROM for S3mini and i think it's awesome.
However, I've had some trouble with my internet when i'm not on wifi. The logo says I have 3g but its very unstable. Just now I tested it and the play store worked fine and then suddenly didn't anymore. But if i press Retry for about 10 times, it sudden;y works fine again.

One thing i've noticed as well is how tasker is unable to find my locations based on net sometimes.
Anyone know what's going on? and what i can do about it.
Does this occur in one area or anywhere you go?

Many different places.
I think i've found some interesting stuff. It seems that when i'm on HSPA Internet works but not when i'm on 3G... Anyone know what this could mean?

Probably the location you are at does not have the refarmed 1900 towers, where i live if i drop to 3g it would instantly not work and would have to wait till im back on HSPA or H to get decent signal.

Could be although that wouldn't make sense as the phone had no troubles with internet before I install SlimROM.

You can try a different rom then cause some roms have bad data as its not fully stable on their sources. So for now flash a different rom and see if it improves.
So I would like to Bump this thread. As after trying many different maclaw ROM's, waited for months to see if anything would develop that would help me, It's still not fixed.
So the situation is this: My phone's data works fine in the whole of europe (I just travelled and never let me down). Because so much time has passed I've installed SlimKat ROM, and again my data seems to be unstable.
I'm thinking it's a Modem problem and I wonder if there is anything I can do about this.
Also, once I read that someone had a similar problem, no fix for it though.
Also, If other people are aving similar troubles, please post to get a feel for how often this problem occurs
You can try switching your phone in 2G only mode and see if net is working that way. It will be a little slower than 3G, but try and report Maybe the 3G signal in your area is weak.

Thanks, I'll try this. However, I don't think my 3G sidnal is weak in my area as I've never had the problem with StockRom. Also, I'm having the trouble wherever i am throughout my whole city and in other cities. To me, that doesn't seem to be a signal problem.
