bug fix needed - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

someone needs to fix the bug where when you have regular headphones or fm transmitter plugged in the jack.. the sound does not go out through the connected device when a phone call comes in.. This works correclty in other android phones i have tried like nexus one so it is definately a bug in the phone s/w.. and saying use bluetooth is not a solution bluetooth is a battery hog and not always convenient.
it is really a pain when you have fm transmitter plugged in or headphne and you get a call and have to grab phone unplug device and answer...

This is a Samsung bug, i have the same thing on my Omnia II, real pain if you ask me.
Maybe the folks on the Omnia II board or over at Modaco have a solution for this.

but it is not a bug in my samsung i8910 which works correctly

I've a HTC S100 and the sound is well but it's very difficult to start a voice commande or to recall last call because seem that the function "hand free" sometime is lose.
Sorry for my poor English !

I have the same problem with my handsfree headsets an Tytn II (kaiser):
i have a motorola H700 and a Scalarider headset for helmets.
They are bot NON-ADP and thyey support handsfree.
Sometimes the button on them stop working and I can't do voice dialing with Voice command neither repeat last call.
They appear as connected and If I manually call a number they work.
To get the button works again I have to restart the phone.
Maybe a fault in the microsoft bluetooth stack?
Also: my Motorola H700 has a flip and when you open it the headset turn on and get connected.
You should be able to answer phone calls by opening the flip.
Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesn't connect if I open it while the phone is ringing and in that case I have to restart bluetooth connection to make it work again.
Microsoft or HTC should check end improve bluetooth stack!
Any hack around?
Can't we put the broadcom instead of microsoft stack on kaiser?
I wrote to HTC Support about this problem and they answered :
"Customer email address:XXXXXXXXXX
Good Afternoon,
The multi function button is the one small button with the led light in, not the big play/pause button.
If you try the other button, it should work.

Astonished!
Amazing answer!
Are they idiot?
I'll write them too,
I hope someone cleverer will read the my mail
and suggest the bug to the technical stuff.
I have a motorola H350 and have been experiencing the same problems. It's driving me mad. The problem makes the use of the hands free totally useless as it seems to stop working at the drop of a hat.
What I've found so far.
To get it working you need to turn on the ear piece.
Then turn on the bluetooth on the phone.
If you do this any other way it doesn't work. Once it's working you may or may not be able to hang up with the button. If that's the case it won't answer with the button either.
Once it's working it seems to work ok till either the headset or the phone's bluetooth is turned off.
Voice dial will not fire up until the main procedure if followed and sometimes it takes several tries.
I was wondering if this was something to do with the motorola but seemingly it's to do with the stack so getting another device isn't going to help I guess.
The bluetooth worked perfectly on the Hermes but immediately I got the Kaiser one thing alerted me to the fact that something was different.
With the Hermes, as soon as I turned on the bluetooth and the earpiece the phone would alert me to the fact that the motorola wanted to connect.
With the Kaiser nothing, even when I searched for a device. I had to find out how to put the earpiece into search mode before it would find it.
Very flakey and very disappointing. I hope someone finds a fix for this.
Anyone else experiencing these problems?
I've got an H700 and Jawbone. I do notice more crackle type sounds and lower volume on both using Kaiser compared to my 8525. The H700 connects within 1-2 seconds when opening it's flip and I have noticed that on occasion, if I walk away from the phone (eg. phone on desk) the headset may not reconnect when I return. The Jawbone has been fairly good at connecting and staying functional at all times but the volume is lower as noted by many people.
I would say that the stack overall is better than the 8525's for all the devices I've tried (3 headsets, 2 Laptops, 1 Garmin Streetpilot with BT Phone interface)
I am also losing the Voice speed dial & redial button from time to time. It also worked that way with my hermes, so I kinda get used to it...
I am now wondering if it is related to my BT earpiece (nokia bh-200 or something like this) of if it is the BT stack which has never been really working on all the device I could test (hermes, trinity, kaiser).
I allmost never had issue recieving call (I don't recieve much call while using the BT earpiece) but it is sometime impossible to initiate a call through the BT earpiece.
The simplest way for me to lose the voice recognition is to:
-Start BT on the phone
-Start BT earpiece
Phone recognize the earpiece, everything is fine
-Restart the phone
Phone & BT reconnect, but voice recognition & redial are gone
I would really appreciate of some of you could test my little procedure and report if it works of not. If it is working for some other BT earpiece I may change mine and get rid of this eternal annoying issue.
Thanks
Jabra BT500
I have the Jabra BT500 and same problem with the TyTn II.
The earpiece can't initiate a voice call...
Looks like HTC (or Windows), starts to deliver ROMs like Mr. Bill Gates does with his M$ crap...
If someone find a solution for this Bluetooth problem, please post it!!!!
Thanks a lot,
Kaiser and Moto H700 just do not work together
I also have a problem with the Kaiser and a Moto H700. The M700 button stops working randomly, the BT connection sometimes disconnect during the call at will.
I can still use H700 successfully with my old Nokia 6680, so the problem clearly is in the Kaisers BT stack.
I’ve made the BT update that HTC posted just recently for TyTN II, but it had no effect.
Fortunately, I have my old Moto H500. This one is working OK with the Kaiser, but. Like it was pointed here before me, the only way to get it working you need to turn on the ear piece. Then turn on the Bluetooth on the phone.
In case if the Bluetooth connection was disrupted for some reason, the only way to make it work is again swath Kaiser BT off then turn on the ear piece and switch on the TyTNs BT.
The Kaiser’s BT stack is not good also connecting with a PC, the connection is just not stable.
Just wanted to chime in and say I've had the exact same problems with my Tilt and Motorola H700 as various people have described here. I posted about it on the AT&T forum too, and no one there has any working solution either, AFAIK. I too tried the "fix" from HTC, and to no avail.
This is a pretty big disappointment for me; I love my Tilt, but Bluetooth is not new technology, and it's really inconvenient that it works so poorly on this phone.
Motorola headsets seem to have a problem with this device. I had trouble getting my H500 to connect and the voice button to work. Once I reset the phone when the headset was on and it wouldn't connect. I tried deleting and re-pairing. It took another reset to get it back. Fortunately I don't use that headset anymore.

The same problem.
But this time with the Sony Ericsson BT HBH - DS980.
I also put the "fix" from HTC, I gave them back and they change them with another brand new Sony Ericsson BT HBH - DS980, but the problem exists.

I just bought the same headset... cant get it work with the TyTN II - Kaiser but pairs without any problem with my TyTN I - Hermes... clearly it is the BT Stack
Way beyond my abilities, but cant the BT stack on Hermes be cooked into a rom for the Kaiser ?
I have a Motorola HT820 and a Motorola S9 both devices are working flawless with the kaiser.
Now i own a motorola S705 too , with this device my kaiser suddenly turn the bluetooth off (

Diamond and car audionavigation JVC NX7000 bluetooth problem

Hi all,
Need help with my HTC Diamond. As my Pioneer car navigation, with which the diamond bluetooth functioned well, was stolen, I was advised to mount a JVC navigation system NX7000 with a detachable front in order to prevent theft. However, the HTC bluetooth dysfunctions. It connects and pairs without problems, but when the diamond goes into sleep or is switched off, it is impossible to establish a phonecall using the JVC car-unit, although it indicates that blueconnection is still valid. When I switch on the phone, even minutes later, it will eventually do the call. If I force the HTC to remain powered-on it will function normally. I am sure that this has something to do with a suspend-mode of the diamond bluetooth part and that this can be solved by the right registry tweak. I tried several tweaks that I found on the forum already but without succes. I upgraded the HTC to the latest firmware 2.03 but no improvement.
I called with HTC and they said that they know the correct registrysettings but they won't supply them because of "licence restrictions"...........
Anybody the same problem? Somebody who has the solution?
Thanks
I have exactly the same problem! Incoming calls work fine, but like you, I cannot initiate outgoing calls from the JVC unit unless the diamond is turned on fully. I there's not a fix for this, I may have to go out and buy an iphone again after selling mine to get a diamond!
there is a fix but HTC won't tell. they suggested to open a thread on this forum in order to get suggestions on the matter. and so I did. When I subsequently asked them if they would post this solution on this forum they said they would not :-(
Bluetooth problems across the board with JVC NX7000

You may not want to fall back on an iPhone with the JVC NX7000. Not to go too far off-topic here, but pairing an single iPhone works great (once I figured out the overly complicated menus). BUT...it won't let me pair a second phone (of any kind). Once the first phone is paired, all pairing menu options are greyed out ("Search" and "Open"), thereby preventing any further phones from being paired. I first need to unpair the first phone before I can pair the second one. JVC Support is comically unhelpful.
Has anyone had luck paring more than 1 phone (of any brand) with the JVC NX7000?
You are the lucky one! You can succesfully pair one phone but it works
I don't care if I can only pair one phone. I only have one phone! lol.
Hey guys!
kind of the same problem here but with the Volvo built-in bluetooth solution. Actually when the device sleeps and I initiate a call it will take some time, then the device will turn on and it will begin to dial but drops immediately. When the device is fully turned on there is no problem at all. Incoming calls work just fine. Even though it first rings on the phone and after a second or two it will ring in the car and the device will stop ringing. Which confirms that bluetooth sleeps somehow and only connects fully when the device is fully awake.
It really looks like bluetooth goes to sleep, so we need a solution which keeps bluetooth awake even if the device itself is in sleep mode.
Patrick
Exactly the problem I described. It's a sleep or suspend mode of the bluetooth that causes the dysfunction. I can pair nokias wih JVC without any functional problem, they work like a charm. It is really a HTC related problem, I tried a lot of registry tweaks suggested for similar problems in other HTC devices, but no luck so far.
Reply to Guitartng:
storing multiple bluetoothdevices in the JVC for subsequent use can be done by selecting "new device" and then go to "bluetooth setup".
Exact same issue with a Kenwood DNX 8120 double din unit.
If anyone finds out the solution, please post it here. I'll keep searching.
Good News Lads!
Well after blowing my head of trying different roms and radios got a solution.
The solution comes from JVC stereo and not from Htc diamond Phone!
You have to set special phones To Samsung E520 and then pair device with the htc diamond. It works like a charm, know I can make calls through my JVC stereo and NO MORE deep sleep of htc diamond.
Try with samsung, it work for me, if not try with other phones in special phones before pairing!
Cheers!
I just wanted to let you know that I also was able to fix my bluetooth issue by flashing stock firmware 2.03.405.3 WWE with Radio 1.09.25.23. I was previously using Dutty's V4 which is based on 2.03 afaik, but it look like Dutty tweaked something on the bluetooth stby behaviour.
Anyway, it works like a charm now and the whole calling and answering process is also much faster!

Help with Bluetooth and Fresh 1.1

For some reason when my phone connects to a headset that supports both audio and phone the audio will not auto connect. I have to open the bluetooth options and hold down on the device i want to connect to then check the audio box.
sounds similar to the problem I'm having... I connect my phone via bluetooth to my car (Ford Sync) and I need to turn bluetooth off then on at least once (if not twice) for the car to recognize the phone.
I am getting so fustrated with this phone... Its been replaced twice (like replacing hardware is going to fix a software bug).
i really want to stay with an Android phone... maybe the Samsung Moment? it appears as if 2.x is now available (unofficially?) since Samsung released the Kernel source like they were supposed to.
TL
It worked before fresh 1.1 so maybe it was just a change in something.
I'm using the stock software and I have the problem so it is not freshrom
man we need an update HTC!!!!!!!
q1 almost over so we're that much closer to getting our official 2.1 update.
I've also got a bluetooth problem - would really appreciate any help you can offer.
I have a Tomtom and headphoned in my Bike Crash Helmet. I want to connect so I can hear music and phone calls through the phone in my helmet and also hear the TomTom.
The Tomtom connects to the Helmet, the phone connects to the Tomtom and I can get calls through the speakers via the Tomtom but music won't play (apart from an annoying second or two after dropping a call).
If I can get the phone to advertise headset features I could connect the Tomtom to the phone and the phone to the speakers (think that would work), otherwise I believe the Tomtom is not advertising media audio, only phone audio and don't expect I can change that.
Any thoughts...?
PS - Have tried the market headset app - unfortunately it doesn't fix the problem...

[Q] GPS and Bluetooth problem

Hi, I am happy with GPS on my galaxy s and it seems to lock in very quickly. I have a slightly different issue which is a pain for me. With my HD2 I could connect my phone to my stereo via bluetooth and play music. While doing this I would use the GPS for copilot. With the galaxy s though as soon as the GPS fires up the BT connection with my stereo is dropped. Does anyone else have a problem like this? or am I being stupid and this will not work like it does on the HD2.
Cheers
Yes, I get this problem too!
I've posted eleswhere on this forum about it, but got no answer as yet. I'm using Plantronics Backbeat headphones, and thought they were just 'losing touch' with the SGS randomly, but since reading your post, I find they work fine until I use the GPS & then voila - no bluetooth connection to the headset anymore. The GPS in my SGS also works fine, BTW, unlike many others, by the sound of it.
Unfortunately, while I can commiserate (& feel a little happier knowing what's causing the Bluetooth 'drop-out'), I can't offer any solution, as I'm not by any stretch of the imagination a coder/programmer. Sorry.

[Q] Note handsfree - weird behavior, working?

Hi all,
I have a brand new Note and I'm not sure that it's working fine:
When I plug the included handsfree in the jack, and yes all the way in until it "clicks", I have the following weird behavior:
- sound on phone conversation comes from handsfree but microphone active is not the one from the handsfree, it's the one from the phone
- when using Skype, sound comes from phone loudspeaker, then when I unplug the handsfree the sound comes from the phone earspeaker, then when I plug the handsfree again the sound comes from the handsfree... and while all this the active microphone is the one from the phone
I have no way to check whether it's the phone or the handsfree, both are new from unsealed box, I think I suspect the phone, and more precisely the phone is having a hard time knowing when/if its handsfree is plugged...?
I have another 10 days to return the phone and get a new one, anything that I'm doing wrong or shall I return it?
(It's a white Note running latest 2.3.6)
Thanks for your help.
As an update, I read that the Skype issue is... well, a Skype issue and that they're working on it...
But the problem remains with the microphone of the handsfree, still not working, not working when making phone calls, and not working with the application "Voice Recorder".
Any setting that I have to use in order to enable the handsfree mic to work and not use the phone microphone when the handsfree is plugged in (all the way until the click) ? I wouldn't think so but asking just in case before raising hell at the store so they give me a new one.
(BTW the phone's not rooted or anything, all stock 2.3.6)
Thanks for any feedback.
