Non sprint cdma hero root step possible replacement for cellular south - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

With this guide:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581869
on step: 4. Run the Sprint RUU from here - http://geekfor.me/news/sprint_ruu_156/
It will take a while to run and it will take a while to boot the first time (several minutes). Be Patient.
When cellular south releases 2.1 if it comes in RUU form will we be able to run that one instead or would that interfere with the rest of the rooting process?

Unbrand Nexus One

Hi All,
A friend of mine has a Vodafone uk Nexus One (whilst I have a Three UK Desire lol), and I used to have a T-Mobile UK G1. One of the things you could do with that (and from experiences with friends' Heros) was create a goldcard and flash a google unbranded image.
Question is, can that be done with the Nexus one? I know how to create goldcards, but I don't see any RUU exe files anywhere. Obviously he'd like to get froyo asap and avoid the voda delays in future too.
So, he doesn't want to do custom roms, just would like to have the option of stock roms and ideally OTA updates when google give them not when voda mess about with them and eventualy release them. He doesn't want to void the warranty though, so as I understand it, fastbooting a .img file is out as he'd have to unlock the bootloader?

Hmm, unrooted nexii one are able to flash froyo without a goldcard, no idea about branded handsets. I'd suggest finding the link for frf91(latest froyo build) somewhere around these boards, chucking it on the sdcard as update.zip and hope for the best.
Maybe get the noradio .zip first, just incase it goes terribly wrong. I doubt it will though, it will either work or not flash at all, so give it a try.
We tried using a goldcard with an frf91 universal rom (i.e. the direct from google signed zip), but it failed verifiation on the phone's update system. I'm assuming RUU checked for goldcard but the standard recovery ignores goldcards
Anyone got any more suggestions?
Root the phone / unlock the bootloader, and flash whatever you want. There is no "unbranding", since Nexus isn't branded. It's just that there is no stock update that is based on your version (EPF21?), so no update will be executed.
He can try the "non-voiding-warranty" root, though it's specified to work for Froyo. If it doesn't work for him - he can try the PASSIMG.zip way of upgrading to some version that will allow root. If that fails too - oh well... Either root the usual way, unlocking bootloader, or accept the fate.

You can try the tutorial at http://bloginblack.de/2010/07/how-t...e-google-nexus-one-from-epf30-to-froyo-today/
I had same issues as my N1 was EPF30 build probably a EU one and the above tutorial helped me get all the new updates OTA, because to the best of my knowledge Froyo is not yet available OTA in EU, atleast that's what i found in google
Cheers

[Q] My ONE is in dead space

I've got a 32GB Sprint HTC One m7, unlocked bootloader and operating on a Mac. I wanted to try and use this ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265820) to flash over what I have and see (with a sense of humor) if it would unlock my SIM.
I installed TWRP (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173870), and before I could flash SuperSU, my dumb ass did a full wipe and erased the current ROM without backing up. So here's what my phone can do currently:
-Boot into boot loader
-Run fastboot/adb commands
-Boot into recovery [only after flashing via fastboot; will not stick]
The phone will not mount SD to a computer and when I flash a ROM via sideload or fastboot, it shows the HTC Developer boot screen, then the screen goes black and the orange charging LED stays on. I have to hard reset the phone and start back up in bootloader to get anywhere. I want to get back to square one, so I can actually do this the correct way. I've been flashing ROMs since the original Motorola Droid, so I know the biz, I'm just flat out of ideas at this point. Halp, please?

Didnt the Sprint version have an official RUU somewhere ... best to return to stock and restart
Yes, found the RUU. Give this a go!

EDIT: OP, in the future, I'd avoid flashing things from here onto your Sprint version. Especially something like that, which is an unmodified stock HTC base. Most ROMs made for GSM phones need to be edited and further modified for CDMA devices, in my experience.

Maybe try adb push a rom onto your phone in recovery..
Thanks for the replies, guys. As stupid as it sounds, I really didn't think the builds between carriers would be THAT different (I was also unaware of a separate forum for Sprint *facepalm*). International vs AT&T versions? Definitely, but not between domestic carriers. Weird.
Anyway, I flashed a recovery out of the Sprint HTC One forum and then a custom ROM out of there, too, through ADB sideload and it's all running swell so far. Again, thanks a lot for the help!
Other way around, actually. International and AT&T are very compatible and similar. Same with T-Mobile. Best way to think of the same phone on different carriers is GSM vs CDMA, but even then CDMA specializes further.
Glad you got squared away!

[Q] Not sure which recovery to install, not sure which version of the device I have

Got the HTC One (says M7 in the bootloader) from HTC directly. Popped in my SIM card and it connected right away to AT&T's LTE network. Now I'm unlocking and installing the recovery in hopes of a new ROM.
so...
1) Which version of the HTC One is this, ie which version of Recovery software do I install?
2) Does this matter, or is the recovery compatible across versions of the One?
Sorry for the newbage, but I figure I'd better ask than potentially brick myself.

[Q] Unlocked AT&T HTC One on T-Mobile update

I got an unlocked HTC One that was originally on AT&T's network, but now I use it on T-Mobile. The OTA updates won't work since I'm not on AT&T's network and the RUU file has not been released yet. I'm debating whether I should root the device, wait for the RUU file, or bug a friend to use their AT&T sim card to get the update. I'm currently running android 4.1.2 and sense 5 (software number 1.26.502.10). Also if the RUU file does come out can I use it from 4.1 to get to 4.4 or will there be issues?
Thanks

The easiest way is to borrow your friend's sim card but that just keeps you locked into AT&T's network. Since, you are running on T-Mobile it may be better to change your phone to look like T-Mobile so you can get all of the benefits of T-Mobile including their OTA updates. You can use this guide Complete Flashing Guide | Rooting to Unlock your bootloader, install custom recovery and root. Then I would use this guide get S-OFF. Once you are S-OFF, then change your MID using this tool MID change without ENG HBOOT then change the CID. You can use this guide nkk71's SuperGUIDE to returning 100% back to stock to show the steps to install the latest T-Mobile RUU. Once the RUU is installed you are set with a stock T-Mobile rom, recovery and S-OFF. Keep S-OFF as long as you can, don't return to S-ON!

help

So i got my second HTC One Sprint for the gsm as i live in Panama i can use it without problems, my first one i sold it but i love it and i get not so long a black one on 80 bucks and the seller was selling it as for parts or non working, just because it was with cyanogenmod 11 and it was untested "as is" so i took the risk to buy it knowing i could restore it with the ruu. However i am with a pain in the ass that i can't get it back to stock, i have tried with two differents ruu and both of them get stuck at the phase of cheacking header at 4% in a loop i have change it with bad boyz room and cyanogenmod, but honestly i don't like custom roms i prefer a stock rom rooted without bloatware and crapware and as Sprint is not so intrusive as Verizon ( almost all past phone i had have been Verizon) i wanted to put it stock cuz i'm waiting Lollipop. I have already unlocked the gsm for use here and i didn't have problem but with the bad boyz rom i have the loop of hands free something that i didn't had with the other one. I don't know if i have screwed up in the process of unlocking the gsm and that's the reason that i can't get it back to stock.
When i get it it was S-On and hboot and it's on 1.55, previously one was on 1.57 that was way harder to get the S-off and even with that one i got the no OS installed and i could recover it through the ruu that i have in my laptop, but with this one i don't know what i am doing wrong that i can't get it to stock. I tried with my laptop and desktop but also i don't know if windows have to do something with it because with the other one i was running windows 8.1 but now i am on 7.
Hope somebody can't help me to get it to stock, i don't want to give up but i am having 2 days trying to put it stock
