Download unsuccessful - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to download a mp3 file from a website and I get a message saying "Download Unsuccessful. Cannot download. The content is not supported on this phone." Is there a way to force the file the download?

Get Astro and look in the settings.

Try to download either Linda file manager or Astro from the Market. Then try again. Did it work?

It's because the stock android browser will not let you download certain file types. As the previous posters have said Astro or Linda will do this just fine. Alternatively Download Crutch Lite (8KB) will simply enable all file extensions (I.e. No application/menu).

Thanks. I got Astro and everyone is downloading.

Nexus One Error: sorry the player does not support this type of audio file

hey i just ran into my first problem with the nexus, when i download an mp3 file from the browser (i tried the stock browser and also dolphin browser) it only downloads a small portion of the file and when i try to open the mp3 file it gives me an error saying "sorry the player does not support this type of audio file" i tried downloading the mp3 off of rapidshare, usershare, mediafire, and also limelinx. does anyone know why im getting this error?
bump....anyone?
The stock browser cannot download certain file types. Several applications such as Linda file manager and Astro file manager enable download of all file types. However if you simply want the same functionailty without an additional application then download and installed Download Crutch Lite
thanks for your response. I tried that but still no luck...

[Q] download zip/rar

Is there a way to DL zips and rars with one application or with one switch someplace that would allow DL of any filetype? I have androzip and astro. Seems like I shouldnt need both.
I download literally all types of files using dolphin browser.

File Manager Question. Thanks

Install any file manager from the Android Market (I recommend OI File Manager or Astro) and use it to browse to the Root Explorer .apk file and install it.

(Q)Browser downloads

I've tried downloading stuff from the stock browser and other browsers and when I go into my downloads on my phone the file is corrupt. I even checked to see if it was the program by trying to open it on my computer and I got the same result. Does anybody know anything about this or anything?
Where is your download location? I'm not totally sure why unless whatever your downloading isn't compatible with your phone.

The normal download location. Haven't changed it at all. Also, I'm just download a zip file it seems to happen with every file I try.
If the same file is not working on your computer then wouldn't it be the file or did I miss understand your question and statement
The file works on my computer if I download it on my computer. If I download it on my phone then try to open with an app or through usb on my computer it says the file is corrupt. So pretty much saying if I download from phone it's corrupt, download from computer it's fine.
Which other browsers have you tried? I recommend the dolphin browser if you haven't already tried it.

What kind of file is it what are you trying to do
I'm actually using Dolphin Browser. Every other file works fine but .zip files it seems. And the files I tried where Pokemon roms (trying to relieve childhood). But I know the files work since a couple of my friends have downloaded them from their phones and unzipped them on their phones. But my one friend he had a different situation where his would download as a .bin file when it's a .zip file.

How to install apks from Dropbox

Hi all
I was used to have some apks in my Dropbox account and able to download and install them from there without any problem. Since the update to Android 10, I am unable to do so, as when I try to open an apk from Dropbox it says: "Can't open file. Please download an app that can open this file". Any idea why and also what can I do?
Thanks
