im running fresh 2.3.3 and my battery doesnt last through out the day
ex.
10 am - 100% off charger
6 pm -15%
and thats with some text here and there and listenin to some songs thats about it
can anyone help me with this?
I like mrinehart93 use SMODA widget to turn off 3g when i dont need it, that helps out a ton. I also only have only one other widget on my homescreens instead of a ton like some people use. And using an uv kernel helped me out as well.
During the course of 7-8hrs of sleep with 3g off, my phone only loses about 2%. Sleeps like a baby
I should also add, i use pandora periodically during the day, text a lot, and have only 1-2 phone calls less than 10 min long usually.
-Running DarchDroid 2.7
Try this

I usually get about 24-48 hours of battery life depending on my use, but one thing i've noticed really helped was running the app TasKiller, removing everything but HTC Sense from the ignore list, and killing everything, then reopening the app, hitting menu then "Kill Me". I usually never have to disable my 3G unless i really need to.

so you just kill everything except sense?
so basically same concept with launcherpro
I get 12+ hours under extreme heavy usage using 2.2.
i checked my awake time
my phone is damn near 100%
any advice on what i can do to reduce that
Try using UV kernal, underclock just a little, say if you are using DarchDroid 2.7, it is over clocked to 710~ i think, so underclock it to say like 680, disable the 3G, and dont use a ton a widgets, 2 or 3 max.
i dont get why i'm still getting less than 12 hours of battery life
i know there isnt an issue with my battery
i baby this phone so much i highly doubt that there would be an issue
im recalibrating it again and i hope it works
i set my OC for 710 and its the UV'd kernel
i only have 2 widgets and 1 screen
i dont get wtf is goin on
i was streamin pandora for bout 20 min or so and my **** dropped from 90 to 70%
even when it is just sitting the with the screen off it'll drop by 1% every few minutes

Battery life will also depend on the signal strength in your area. I don't get great signal in my house, so the battery will drain faster. Check time without signal and see if it can be improved.
For those of you who get great battery life, do you have a great signal most of the day?

1. Those taskkiller apps that kill everything kill core apps, and that takes extra CPU to relaunch those apps (because they must be running). Don't use them. Use a kernel with a tweaked memkiller.
2. If you have bad signal, use SMODA widget. 'nuff said with that.
3. Use SMODA widget.
Seriously, SMODA widget keeps my battery good for 48+hours...

I need help with my battery drainage, I cannot seem to track down what is the cause of my problems here. While at work I get a drain of anywere from 30-40 percent in about 5-6 hours! now that seems like ALOT.
I've tried stock, CM 6 R2, and Enom - I am on a custom kernel (2.6.35-925mV-CFS-SVS-720p-Monks-081010).. I am currently on that kernel and Enoms latest rom.
I've tried many things I've found on this forum. I installed "ShutUpBatterySaver", I removed my task manager, removed TiKL (heard it wasted battery while not in use), uninstalled ALOT of apps that I dont use/need just in case, Installed OSMonitor and watched to make sure nothing is using the CPU while its trying to sleep (I get less than 10 percent in use at any given time while the phone should be idle from android system mostly), I've stopped using live wallpapers and made sure my auto dim setting is on..
I'm not sure what else to do here Please Help!!

Your system is using 10% cpu while the phone is IDLE??? Yeah, that's not right. Mine is in the noise (<1%) when idle.

me too the battery life on n1 sucks for me... i would unplug it then when i get to work on idle i turn it on it drops like 10 -15 percent in about an hour or so...??
Here is what I did.
1. Try to use black themes. I installed black desire bar and use black wallpaper.
2. Install SetCPU and set it to "on demand"
3. Change Wifi sleep policy to never.
4. Turn off autosync and use Shutupbatterysaver (This app automatically closes even after adding to task manager ignore list)
5. Remove widgets that auto refresh.
6. I'm using the same kernel as yours.
I also have **** battery life. Is it almost a must to calibrate the battery if you want to achieve good battery life?
Some people comment about how they have 36 hours of battery life OVERCLOCKED. If only my battery could come remotely close to that!
Unplugged my phone 1.25 hours ago and I'm already at 92%!
Edit: hmm, it tells me that my phone has been awake for 28 of the 75 minutes which is essentially impossible. Is there an issue where the phone takes too long to sleep?
I just recently got some very good usage out of my battery. Over night it only dropped something like 4%.
I'm not sure exactly what to attribute to as I've tried so many ROMS etc recently but the main things are probably
Installed SetCPU and set to 245min 500max
When in wifi location connect to it for data sync instead of 2g/3g as it uses less power when idle.

Something you're running is keeping it awake.. Most likely you have online/syncing/notifications on IM, Facebook, Twitter, something like that... Not the apps themselves, but them set to sync etc..
Spare Parts should be able to tell you what's keeping it awake.
What's UID 10018?

2. SetCPU is not installed but via spare parts I have my max at 107520 and govenor is on demand
3. My Wifi policy is never
4. i tried shutupbatterysaver and switched to juice defender but will probably switch back
5. I removed all widgets that auto refresh except the facebook widget (set to never refresh but it does anyway for some reason), and beutiful home widget set to update weather every 6 hours.

In the process of calibrating my battery by draining it COMPLETELY (as in I can't even access the bootloader) and then charging it fully. I'll let you know if that helps!
Seems as if it's helped quite a bit. I managed to boot up, deal with the phone for a few minutes and download a 65MB file over WiFi and when I unlocked I was still at 99%. Try re-calibrating.
Try removing handcent. I used on my g1 and out was a serious battery hog.

I'm running Axura RC 2.5. I flashed it via Clockwork Recovery.

No, they don't. It's all related to how the Android OS manages applications. There's a ton of info about it - just google it. If you have battery draining issues, most of the time it's because you left something running that's constantly downloading/connecting to 3G or is doing something CPU intensive. Take the new Facebook app for example - if you use the chat function and you don't log out, it keeps you logged in and that will suck your battery dry. If 3G is spotty, you'll also have battery drain as the phone switches back and forth from edge to 3G, trying to connect.
I used a task killer when I first got my phone, because some moron at the AT&T store recommended it. My battery life got much better when I unloaded that crappy app.

I don't use FB chat, nor have I had unstable connections. I've had constant HDSPA all day. Could it be an issue with the ROM? I have WiFi, Bluetooth, & GPS turned off, as well as Brightness as low as it can go.
Hold down the home button and open task manager...
Also i noticed that using 3g on low signal kills the battery, try to use wifi...
You can also try assonance, i think its clocked 200 mhz less than axura, so you might perceive more battery, and it is as stable
Or try recalibrating the battery
Pd maybe it is an issue with the modem draining too much battery, you could try a different one, i bet if you dissable 3g your bat will improve a lot

Custom ROMs give you more speed, more power, more more more. That comes at a cost. You will have crappy battery life with some ROMs, and other ROMs may have better battery life.

I wanted to try Assonance, but whenever I tried flashing it via Clockword recovery, it froze at 'installing update..'. About to try Darkys 7.0.1.
Could it be a deffective battery? I used to get 7 hrs heavy use (web, games, music) with my original battery. I bought a backup battery (same thing, Samsung OEM 1500mh) and I am impressed I am now getting 12-18 hrs with heavy to moderate use. I guess I had a bad battery to beging with.
elektrisk,
has your battery life changed since you first flashed axura? if so, it is most likely due to an app you installed after flashing the rom. if your battery life has always been "awful" then you should consider flashing a different kernel, or another rom & kernel altogether
I've seen a lot of people reporting unreasonably(for me) great battery
life , like three days WITH usage. Even for CM7 based ROMs, they( most people seen reporting) also get a day and half or two.
But for my personal experience, I have used my phone six months, and the best I got is 1.5 days WITH usage.
How do those people have those huge battery life? Or am I missing something?

back then i remember when my phone is on idle, every 5 min only consume about 5ma(according to battery monitor widget), but recently i have no idea why , idle will consume up to 80ma every 5 min, i have very little apps installed and most of it doesn't have push notification nor sync
Another main point, i'm on 3G instead of hsdpa, i expect much better battery life to be honest, i'm currently on Juwe's smart edition 5.3
check the processes
First of all check what processes are consuming more memory and CPU.
Try using "Usage Timeliness Free" app, which will show you which application is eating up your memory thus battery.
It has got option to terminate unwanted apps as well.

Mine lasts about 7/8 hours at most with wifi turned off and some bloatware apps frozen aswell.
I've had the phone a year so I dont no if my battery is ready for the bin or if its something to do with flashing cf-root.
It runs out so quick I've got to make sure its on charge every night in case it dies and my alarm doesn't go off for work in the morning ha

One major difference people overlook is how hard the radio works to get a signal. E.g. At home with WiFi and 3G on I lose about 10% battery overnight of the phone sitting idle. At work I lose closer to 45% for the for the same period. Naturally when I use the phone it'll be flat at the end of each day.

Hi There OB Users,
Just curious about your battery life.
Please post how long your battery can last.
What ROM and apps you using.
Mine can last roughly 20 hours on low usage (3G ON)
With Wifi ON, it's about 10 hours.
I'm using an app called "2X Battery" (can be found on market)
I'm running NOVA 4.5 ROM
Really appreciate it.
NOVA 4.5
Last three days I didn't use that much my phone so I could test how long does it go without charging.
Calling ~3min
WiFi - 5min
Camera - 10 photos
Winamp - 2h
Display was on about 1.5h
Other apps (no games) that don't use internet - 20min
At 5% I had to charge it for next day. So 95% = 2 days 18 hours. It would be 3 days if I didn't look what time is that often.
But for "normal" every day use, it's 1.5 days. I don't use internet because it's slow in my city (and it's optional for my plan). And at this moment I don't have WiFi router at home (I broke antenna).
Hey there.
here: NOVA v4.5
I use my phone a lot, like 2 hours of 3G network (lot of whatsapp, and quick web search). 3G aways ON
1 hour of calling
3 hours of music
The battery life is about 10 hours.
It would be great if i have at least a day, using it like i do.

Check if you have apps which refreshes between intervals (or even push notifications) and avoid them.. the best solution is to disable Wi-fi and, if you are not a demanding person by others, switch to airplane mode while you sleep!

Unfortunately, along with many of the downsides of CyanogenMOD, battery life is an absolute joke. I think you'd be lucky to get over 24h of usage on that ROM. I have no idea why, but it seems that it sucks the life from your phone WAY too quickly.
For those having battery life issues, I'm on Zeus 6.11o and i've increased my battery life by just:
Using a good governor (smartassv2) to control CPU usage when screen off.
Recharging from dead to 100% seems to increase battery life.
And after using playerpro for an hour, surfing the net, using NBA.tv, 3G always on, an hour or so of Kairosoft gaming and i'm currently at 73%.
So life's good under the hood.
wait for ics. im using L7 right now, the battery life is way better than gingerbread.

A phone. It's the LG Optimus L7. Comes with ICS out of the box.

Check if you have apps which refreshes between intervals (or even push notifications) and avoid them.. the best solution is to disable Wi-fi and, if you are not a demanding person by others, switch to airplane mode while you sleep!
EDIT: If it doesn't work, just go to recovery and clear dalvik cache

thank you very very very much it totally works! and i'm start use my phone in 2G.
Curious to know what the major consensus is as far as which ROM carries 1st place for battery life. In my experience thus far, Liberty is an insane battery hog (albeit an amazing ROM), and ICS is a bit below stock battery levels. Which ROM would you say has the best/longest battery life?
Steel droid is the best IMO but ive been on liberty 3 and its been average. Im not impressed but im not disappointed either. Anyways i flashed the v7 speedy script and that really sped up my phone and i noticed a HUGE increase in battery life.

on top of whatever ROM you decide to use. if you want to save some more battery life get juice defender and rom Toolbox. they have great tweaks to help out

Ohh yeah that too ;p I have that but i have it on the default setting. If u have a custom setting on can u tell me what urs is set at for optimum performance? Thanks man

honestly it depends what im doing. If im not going to be needing my data i toggle the button that turns off data when screen is locked. Other than that i use the regular settings for juice defender... for ROM Toolbox my settings are;
build.prop
VM Heap 88m
Scan Interval 150
Max Events 120
thats all i really did as far as performance/battery balance. i dont know what the values in some of the sections do so i left them alone. most imporant is scan interval though so that wifi doesnt kill your power. also i found out display is the primary power sucker for my system. So i keep that on low by default. Other people probably have even better tips but thats mine =]

Wouldn't reducing scan interval from 300 to 150 make the wifi scan more and actually decrease battery life? (could be mistaken)
my scan interval was set to 60 when i first got ROM Toolbox lol. But yea you can put it at 300, thatll save more battery life.
Oh default for liberty was 180.. i must have bumped it up and not noticed lol, wish I could set it to manual instead.
Well every fice minutes isnt bad. And juice defnder has a setting to only turn on wifi when your in areas you normally use it so that saves alot without havin to remember to turn it off

What is your obsession with controlling Facebook? Serious question, because I've seen a few responses from you talking about using Autokiller (a horrible idea to begin with) strictly for Facebook. You make it sound like Facebook sucks up 100% of your battery in an hour. I have Facebook running in the background all day every day, no joke. It doesn't even PECK my battery according to my stats. I think there's something weird happening on your phone.

I've noticed in some other threads him recommending autokillers/task killers. I don't know what others are doing with their phones but I always have 150-200 megs of free ram. You'll use more cpu time killing and having the app restart then just letting the app sit in RAM. If you find its operation that undesireable on your phone, just get rid of the app.
Another way to control your free ram is using minfrees. I'm set to have 100 megs free ram. If a particular app is runing wild you can kill it in settings>applications>running services, or just reboot your phone every now and again to clean the slate.
I know, off topic.
OP I find most of the roms are pretty similar in regards to battery life. I personally prefer liberty rom, I easily get 12-18 hours out of the battery and I use it a fair bit, often checking twitter, xda and other random surfing, frequent texts a few phone calls and a couple hours of music. I have gotten 40 hours with 25% left on the battery, with minimal use(face first on the couch after new years for 2 days) liberty throws up the high cell standby in battery usage but I don't believe it, I think its a reporting error. Other roms have had the same battery life without the high cell standby. I've found an apparent way to fix it(apparently) although its giving me some issues. Anyways, long story short, any rom should give you an improvment over stock with liberty and steel droid being the favourites

I don't know why but it kills my battery life and I am dead by like 5. It is just a suggestion take it or leave it.

I use DarkDroid and I get a solid 19+ hours of moderate/heavy use. I also use an 1800mAH extended, a little less than the Motorola 1930, but it works. This is the only ROM that I've NEVER had a problem with.
Also, if you don't like web based Apps like FB running in the background, try using the mobile web site and see how your battery life improves. Sounds lame, but it's better than keeping it syncing all day.
Personally, I'm still on stock and I don't mind. I have too many opportunities to charge throughout the day. I am eager to use CM9, but that's the only ROM I'll switch to. I have edited my build.prop to only scan wifi at 300, so that probably helps.
OP, I'd suggest using Tasker to help keep certain radios off at times when you don't need them. I have a profile which can turn off mobile data while I'm connected to wifi (at home I have poor data signal, which strains the battery by always looking for a different tower). Also, you can set up profiles to turn off wifi when not in a preferred cell tower range. So, if you are connected on your home tower, it will automatically scan wifi, then turn it off when you leave. It uses your regular phone signal, so wifi can stay off when you're not at work, school, home, friends house, etc. This is a bit more complicated to set up, but Tasker has many profiles ready for download on their wiki, which you can access from within the app. It's a paid app, but definitely worth it.
Also, you can have screen brightness turn up or down based on cell tower, or other conditions, to help in that regard.
Good luck and enjoy!

I prefer the mobile website fb to the app as i don't use it much.
Also juice defender paid version will do all you described, and probably easier to setup
