Hi everybody,
I would like to share and understand if the behavior of my Diamond is a standard behav.
I've radio version 1.00.25.05 running a ROM 1.93.772.1 "branded H3G" in Italy.
I often can see a strange behavior of the radio I mean there are many cases in which my diamond does not have a data connection opened (i.e. for mails ) and the internet does not work since no data connection available, whereas my friend with the iphone 3g (same operator) in the same place does have it running and fast.
Tks a lot for the support

Just picked up a Tilt after defecting from Verizon for lack of decent/recent handsets.
I am running stock ROM & radio:
ROM 1.57.502.2
Radio 1.27.12.11
Build 18125
I noticed that while I am at work on MEdia Net/Edge I get voice but no data while the iPhone user sitting next to me has a fairly speedy edge connection. In his defense, he also has a Cingy 8125 that also has a great Edge connection in this location... It appears that there is a decent signal there, just not for my Tilt -
Any ideas?
Update Radio?
AKU 0.4.4?
Searched this prob & found nothing - sorry if I missed a giant sticky...
Thanks
I don't have the Tilt but the TyTn II. My problem is that I get slow Upload / Download speeds on my Edge connection i.e. about 100 kbs. When I put the same SIM Card in my HTC Touch I get speeds in excess of 200 kbs, so I gues my mobile operator cannot be blamed.
Tried different Radios including 1.27.12.17 and 1.27.12.32 but to no avail. any help will be apreciated.
I have this weird problem with data connections. I couldn't find anything simular to this on the forum.
My provider (vodafone NL) does supports umts & 3G, I got a full data subscription, and the area i'm in is fully covered.
Now if I go to Settings - Phone - Band there are 2 different settings you can tweak; 'Network Type' and 'GSM/UMTS Band'. Those are standard set to 'Auto'. With those settings my phone says it has 3G connection (above the indicator bars and an icon), but i can't make any calls or get any data from the network. sometimes it also says the server ended the connection, but it still remains connected.
If I set Network Type to GSM, I can make calls, but only connect trough gprs wich is waaaaay to slow for me.
Setting it to WCDMA won't give me a connection at all. Turning HSDPA on or of doesn't make any difference also.
I figured updating my ROM would fix this, but it didn't. I tried different roms.
Is this a known problem, and more important, is there a fix for this ? It is driving me crazy !!
little more info;
ROM version : dutty's WM6.1 WWE
Radio version : 1.64.08.21
Protocol version : 25.74.40.02H
HTC branded Tytn II
Any advice is very welcome !!
Thanks in advance
i keep mine on auto but use bandswitch to switch between edge and 3g or some people gprs to 3g,sounds like a proxy issue since u wouldnt make calls on the wrong band, gsm works for calls so that part must be right so it has to be your internet settings and/or proxy
I checked the (proxy) settings on the website of my provider, and it seems to be okay. Those are settings for gprs tough, but it seems to me it should work as well for umts. It are also the settings the device initialy chooses for my provider..
I was thinking, might a radio update do the trick...? I did read somewhere that has to do with connections..
not necessarily, radios are more so driver issues for hardware such as gps, bluetooth, wifi, keyboards and cameras. i highly doubt another radio could fix this one since i never came across this with any combo of rom and radio before
Well then I don't know anymore what to do. It is probably a hardware related problem so I'll have to make a phonecall to HTC.
Thanks for the advice dyetheskin !
If someone does have a solution... still happier to get it fixed myself !

I am having the same issue.
More wierd is that it used to work perfectly in the beginning and couple of days ago it started acting like this.
I called my mobile provider thinking it might be USIM problem, however it wasn't.
Now I also think it's a HW problem. Next week I'll take it to a lab and hopefully it will be an easy solution.
I called HTC Tech support 2 weeks ago, and they confirmed it was a hardware related problem. They had 2 simular cases before..
Well, at least they will repair it for free
Hello dear xda-developers.com forum!
Since app. 2 weeks I've got some strange issue with my HTC Kaiser:
If I set the Band/Network to auto, it's not possible to place phone calls or to surf over 3G/UMTS. If it's set to GSM (not to auto), I can surf over GPRS only and it's possible to place phone calls.
My provider is O2 - Germany. UMTS - option's enabled. UMTS-Sim-Card is used.
I upgraded to a Nothrill ROM with a new radio rom version - no effect. Same as before.
I hope there's no hardware-issue.
Eventually anyone can help me?
By the way: If auto - select is on (settings-phone-band, both values set to auto), the icon in the task bar shows that theres 3G available. If I try to surf with that connection, the Kaiser tries to connect with O2 interent - without success. But after that, the antenna-icon shows an exclamation mark and tells me, that theres no signal available....very strange thing.....
So, I hope anyone can help me,
regards and thanks for any help in advance,
Mario
Hi Many of us seem to have the same problem, its a hardware problem according to kilrah
Read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335074
Hardware problem, repair needed and unavoidable to get 3G functionality back.

My post is below.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have been travelling round the world for a year and have the same problem, Have tried many radios, if I use 3G( wscdma) or auto band then the signal drops everytime i try to make a call, and no data is possible however if I use gsm only data and voice work fine, thease symptoms are on many networks, Chile, Easter Island,Tahiti, NZ, Fiji, Optus ( OZ ), and m1 ( singapore ),
Radios tried
EMO 1.71.09.01
Neon 1.65.24.36
1.65.21.18 ( att )
I even loaded the generic dopod rom + radio and it didnt seem to help.
Is it possible something low level has changed whilst doing all this flashing ?
Or could the Hard SPL affect something.
I always try to buy a 3G USIM in each country and test the sim in a backup G800 to ensure the carrier has enabled 3g data okay.
Phone is Kaiser ( HTC TytnII )
ROM is varied but and usually lorentis series roms -- L26 12 light atm
Symptoms, 3G icon shows but data wont connect, if you try to call radio strength bar drops to zero and cell communications are lost , sometimes reestablishes comms but often needs soft reset to band switch to work.
If 3G icon not showing all calls and GPRS data works Okay.
Personally I would not expect this to be a hardware failiure as many others are experiencing teh same fault and for working hardware to fail in use is more erratic in the failiure mode, but a low level register, or some other type of protocol corruption could easiliy be the cause......
The proven "high GPS current consumption in standby" issue is also present as it seems to be on all Kaisers but afaik the root cause of this was never resolved either .....

Hi!
ROM Version: 1.56.411.5
ROM Date: 08/30/07
Radio Version: 1.27.12.32
Protocol Version: 22.45.88.07H
microSD: Kingston 2Gb
SIMcard: Beeline GPRS/EDGE internet
I'm use ActiveSync everytime for syncronisation with exchange server.
And My TyTN II dont resume from standby mode. 2 times...
Oh-h-h Only soft-reset can help.
Help me please!
PS
Sorry or my english.
Mine is suffering from SoD as well.
I got an HTC TyTNII. ROM 1.81.415.4wwe, ROM Date 10/29/2007, Radio 1.27.15.32, Protocol 22.51.88.13H.
Any cures out there?
I'm curious... did this just start happening, or did either of you recently flash?
I'm having the same issue, except I can recreate it consistently.
seems to be happening when I'm indoors... outdoors it's fine.
My guess is radio issue.
I had this problem on my Tytn II when I first got it and also on my new Touch Diamond 2. On my Tytn II the first week I was running with 3G enabled and had the owner ident screen turned on at power on.
I disabled both of these and never had the problem again, on my Diamond 2 I've had 3G enabled but not the owner ident screen so I guess it must be something to do with that... try setting the band to GSM only thus disabling 3G get much better battery life too.
This is old.....
Well, try to set the USB connexion to 'advance' in the settings. If you have Windows Mobile 6.0, upgrade to 6.1....
romualdrichard,
By "Old" do you mean that this has been resolved already?
I've checked the other threads and setting USB to advanced has not cleared it up for other users.
the "setting USB to advanced" has not worked for anyone on these threads (they usually come back and post "it happened again" or something)
my tilt is now sitting in a cupboard...and I'm back to my trusty 8525.
sigh...what a waste of money the tilt ended up being.
Solution? Maybe, who knows
I own a TyTN II since Sept 2008. WM6 Pro.
ROM 1.82.707.0 WWE 11/03/07
Radio 1.27.15.32
Protocol 22.51.88.13W
I have always had BB Connect 100 version installed and working. Other third party SW I have are insignificant utilities.
I've had 2 episodes of SOD, first about 7 months ago lasting for a couple of weeks. Don't know what I did but it simply went away after re installing BBConnect.
Second started a couple of weeks ago and drove me nuts, 5,6,7 times a day..
I tried everything mentions on every web page I could find. No luck.
Then yesterday I downloaded a clean up utility, used it once and have been on since.
try it: pmClean. Can't do any harm.
If I have a repeat episode of SOD, I'll report.
EDIT: Been 60 hours and counting. Only one SOD (vs. 5-6 per day before) and that only after I messed around with some proxy settings in a Java SSH client I tried to have running over the BB connection. Come to think of it, last time my SOD started after I seriously messed with my connections settings when arriving in Europe and not being able to get BB connection. Hmmmm.
I can say for certain that having 3G & GSM enabled (with little 3G symbol along top of screen some of the time) causes SOD.
The solution is to set band to GSM + AUTO only (Edge/GPRS) so you have an E or G symbol along top of screen.
I had the SOD on a new Touch Diamond 2 as well as on my old Tytn II and it wasn't until I set the band to GSM only that the SOD stopped happening.
I think that some people don't have the problem on their network or the areas they use the phone but others are not so lucky. Disabling 3G also increases battery life.
EDIT: Instead of enabling GSM only it may also be a good idea to try and enable 3G only by setting WCDMA + UTMS 2100 thereby disabling 2G (GSM), if the problem has something to do with when the phone switches between 3G and 2G this might also solve the problem. Its worth a try and if with 3G only enabled you still get the SOD then switch to GSM only and leave it.
Why not try another radio?

You could try it but its not likely to solve the problem seeing as its mainly a network problem, you'd be better off changing provider if changing the default band settings as above is too much for you.
FWIW I have now changed my band settings to 3G only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100) and I don't seem to have the SOD problem either, so you don't have to get rid of 3G totally, just change the band setting from auto 3G/2G to either 3G or 2G depending on what you really need, just don't leave it on auto unless you find a provider which that setting works with (ie no SODs)
EDIT: Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2 where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously everything I've written in this thread so far applies to those who have the Standby of Death because of the SIM or settings which impact the SIM, to rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.
I have a TyTN II that was on Hutchinson 3G UK, my dad had it unlocked (although I could have done it simply using tools here, but I'm not sure how he had it done, SPL was stock when I checked etc).
Anyway, I have HardSPL and flashed the TPC Elite V11 MEGA Manila Only.
I upgraded the radio to 1.71.09.01, protocol version 25.75.40.02.eMoH.
I can't seem to get any data connection at all, I just get the sync arrows with a cross.
I'm not sure if the problem is due to some software, or if it is because the device is from the Hutchinson 3G network, I have looked through the WiKi and FAQ and most things point to American providers and are of no help.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Have you ran Connection Setup?
Yeh, iv just downgraded from an xperia so that was the first thing i checked. im in.a diferent area now with full hsdpa and no problems, just wont work in a gprs or 3G area.
further ideas? thanks
I had issues with connectivity with the default connection setup and 3g. Not sure if it's related or not but I installed the htc connection wizard and it corrected any network misconfigurations. I can upload that cab in a bit if you are interested. in giving it a shot (unless thats the setup you have already used)
