my x1 blocked? or now I don't know what its called.. - XPERIA X1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay, story from the beginning, I haven't changed my ROM in awhile because I was really satisfied with the 826x (which I highly recommend people try ) Now I started to get some keyboard issues (the whole space bar, period, etc etc buttons). So I called to get it sent in to repair, therefore I thought I should revert back to stock rom and stock spl. SO. ha. see here. I sort of renamed the stock spl to kovsimg.nbh and flashed it through my SD card, right after I had already flashed my backed up stock rom. The stock rom went through, my x1 started up and everything was back to old again ....Then I did that...and *face palm* idk why I did that, maybe cause I panicked since it wasent working through RUU so I just did that stupid move. NOW. At first my x1 was always in the tricolor bootloader. With "complete update ROM" message, I tried everything and somehow I got it to get regular bootloader with no message, but when I try and start it up, I get a blank white screen. When i try to flash the stock rom on it, it would go past loading into 0% and nothing. I don't know what to do? Please help? I used mtty, SD card, RUU, trying SEUS right now...But so far everything I can think of isn't working. Might I get some advice please?
EDIT:
ah. SEUS worked . Well it only took me 8 hours to solve my [very troublesome hard to fix] problems I had with this phone today....><

Not a happy bunny...

Well, it seems that my BA finally broke (WM5 anyway). It happened when i was flashing back from a test rom to ivans latest version, i flashed, booted up and got to the wight screen, and stayed there... for 30 minutes. undettered i then tried every WM5 rom i could lay my hands on, but to no avail. in final desperation i downgraded to wm2003se and lo and behold it worked!
Anyone got any idea how to get wm5 working again on my ba?
just reflash back to WM5
thi is a rare bug, which occures, and the fix is downgrade to 2003 and then upgrade to WM5
done that, twice
have u tried to format your extended rom ?
there is topic out there, but show how to do it.
u could give that a try.
reflash everything including radio and ext rom, use radio 1.13, after flashing WM2003 try to flash WM5, please post the result. If this does not work i think it is a bootloader issue, if you can get the same version of boot loader and flash it maybe all will work.I am too scared to mess with bootloader yet.

Does anyone have command reference for BA bootloader trough mtty
[curse]
**** **** **** **** **** **** ****
[/curse]
right, i ran the mtty thingy, and reformatted the flash, i then went back to 2003se and storage and extrom were working , but then when i tried to go back to wm5 i kept getting a model id error even though i used xda3nbftool.exe to set the same one as in deveicedata.txt but to no avail, when i gave up to go back to wm2003se i found i couldnt exit bootloader! so i tried connecting again via mtty, it all went fine, ran the commands again etc but still stuck in bootloader. out of desperation i took out the battery, but now to my horror the phone wont even turn back one (yes, i've put the battery back in ). has anyone got a clue how to fix this?
Many thanks in advance....
edit - I just tried a bit of percussive maintanace on it and lo and behold... it began to boot
The only problem now is that the boot screen is f*cked up and i get a model id error whenever i try to upgrade roms (even the official orange shipped extract with no modifications wont run )

"Percussive Maintenance" rarely fails. Nice term though - I'm sure I'll quote it.
Do post a link to the mtty command reference when you get it.

Did I Brick My 8125???

How do I delete this post?!
* UPDATE: Either I'm just really tired or I am going blind. I fixed my problem, but now I cant seem to be able to find a way to delete this post...
I got my Cingular 8125 about a week ago, it's been a dream! I LOVE THIS THING!
Tonight I decided to update the ROM. I got it with 1.8 or something really old like that so I thought updating would be a good idea. I went to the HTC site an downloaded the latest ROM (2.25).
As I am a mac user, I fired up the old PC and updated. But before I did, I installed SPB Backup on the 8125 and backed everything up to my miniSD. Update went fine. Worked like a charm. I went to restore my files and thats where it all went to hell!!!
I made the mistake of restoring ALL of my files and settings. It seemed fine when it was done. the 8125 asked for my password, and as I finished typing it in, the 8125 rebooted without notice. The Cingular screen came up, loaded fine. Then the Windows Pocket PC screen came up and then the top bar with icons came up. That was it. Now it just sits there, nothing else loads. I can put it on stand by. But nothing else happens. No today screen, no phone, no signal, nothing.
I tried to connect it back to my PC but ActiveSync cant mount it. I tried the Wizard ROM update installer, but it said that the device couldn't be found. I tried connecting it to my Mac with Missing Sync. It asked for a password, which it has never done before (which seemed promising) but after I typed it in, again, no device was found.
Now the poor thing is just sitting there on my desk
Is there anything I can do to get it up and running again? Is there a way I can get one of my machines to recognize it and wipe it clean so I can start fresh???
Please help! I bought this phone refurbished, so I dont know if I will be able to get it replaced. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Was this device CID unlocked? Did you try going to the bootloader mode (Hold camera down and press reset while holding camera button, rainbow screen should appear) and then flashing it with your desire ROM?
If it still don't work, you might need an SD backup image of a rom. I've been trying to look for one but the only think I found is an image of a dutch language ROM. If I do get one I'll give you a PM.

Hey thanks Clem! I did solve my problem, but now I have a new one. I HATE 2.25!!!
So if you do get your hands on an older ROM, I would be forever greatful!
Thanks for responding!
Here is the link for the 1.8 Cingular ROM
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Roms/Cingular/Cingular_RUU_1.8.11.1.WWE.ship.exe
I hope this works for you.
You think you can save that 2.25 image to your SD card coz I've been looking for an SD image this is ths instructions...that is if you don't mind.
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/DumpROM/How_to_DumpROM.txt
and here are the files needed
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/DumpROM/ntrw_189.exe
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/DumpROM/psdread.exe
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/DumpROM/romupdate_115.exe
This will also create you a backup of 2.25.
Thanks

Kaiser Issue - Bootloader only .. OS suddenly won't load.

I've got a weird one. Yesterday, my phone was running fine (I've had Dutty's rom on it for about 4months), I lost sound and needed a reboot. I rebooted and immediately got the RGBW bootloader screen. Successive reboots gave me this. I removed my flash card and tried again - was able to get in the O.S. but I still had no sound, so I rebooted again. Now I can't seem to get past the bootloader.
I'm probably going to try a reflash of the ROM, but I'm curious if there is another option since I'd rather not lose my data.
Any thoughts?
--Edit--
Bootloader screen says:
"KAIS1*0 MFG
SPL-1.0.OliPof
CPLD-8"
Bottom says: "Serial"
dude i am sorry to inform you but without an os back up is impossible
*just a thought - try removing SC Card and Sim Card and Remove Battery for some time then put everything back and try.. but most likely.. dont put lots of hope on this..

Well, it's not a total loss. I have a backup of my settings from about 3 months ago and all my PIM data from 2 nights ago. I was just hoping to be able to recover most of it.
Thanks for the idea though, no luck. Here's hoping the new flash will work!
So I added the newest version of Dutty's - phone took it fine. I installed some apps, rebooted multiple times, worked for like 30minutes. Rebooted after installing one of the apps asked me to, and BLAM .. bootloader.
Would it be reasonable to assume that the ROM in this thing might be hosed?
Interesting I had the EXACT same issue yesterday with a the Default ATT ROM.. I was going to try Duttys since Its already wiped

Yeah, mine seems to be fubar'd. I tried flashing Dutty's ROM again, it took the flash, rebooted, and immediately gave me the bootloader again with a blank image.
*edit*
Tried again with a different ROM. It got to the loading screen for the OS, as soon as I rebooted it went back to the bootloader with a blank OS.
Looks like my ROM is fubared. I think my warranty is up, or coming up very soon. Does HardSPL void it? Because I'd assume that is the only thing they can tell was done.
of course hard spl will void ur warranty but if u can revert to orgininal spl

Same issue - Semi Fix
Hi Kyle,
I started having the same exact problem three weeks ago (it is now Sep.18.2008). I've got no sound coming from my phone, and when I reboot I get the bootloader screen.
my FIX: Plug the phone into it's usb cable, and have it plugged into a source (computer, power jack, etc).
When I reset my phone with it plugged into the usb cable, it finds the rom and loads up perfectly. But when I reset without it, I get the bootloader. I still have not figured out why it is doing this. CAVEAT: this only works with my usb cable plugged into the power outlet of MY CAR. I know...it's weird...but that's what's working for me. When plugged into the computer I still only get the bootloader - it works in the car only. But I suggest you try your car, computer, and a wall outlet if you have one for usb and see what works for you. I find that I rarely reset my phone anyway, but it's just annoying when I do.
I hope this message hasn't found you too late :S Cheers
May anyone can help me ?
Kaiser 100 (TILT 8925) during Flashing, the battery was discharged. Now it does not join, the green light diode only burns at power ON attempt.
The computer defines it on USB as Flash device, but the driver from ActiveSynch do not approach.
How to restore it ?
What buttons for input in Flash mode (tricolor) ?
BR !

Weird Problems & Diamond almost dead (software/ROM)

Some days ago, i've flashed my phone to get an "up-to-date" ROM. I chose "PDACornerIllusion 21139" of 2009.03.06. All went fine excepting the keyboard of my GPS wont work anymore (dunno why of course), so i re-flashed with another ROM.
I was surprised that my phone kept the CornerIllusion BootScreen, but i didnt care.
All of a sudden, after having soft reset the ROM i chose (the 2nd one), for an installation of some proggie. The ROM restart as brand new asking me to reset the screen, the clock, date etc... losing all my content and customizations. Then i couldnt sync with Outlook after the first sync i've done minutes ago (error code 800004005). I've decided to soft-reset the phone, and now, TF3D wont even start, (it selft tries to start several times, then gives up), AND the programs lists is all broken, no shortcuts left and the games folder is named *h1/4Eg+ç^, nothing works anymore.
I flashed with about 4 roms (including Aztor one), resulting in the same mess.
Does it have something to do with the first one "PDACornerIllusion 21139" and its still remaining BootScreen?
Can i flash my phone from its roots, to get rid of this ?
As it's maybe not the "fault" of PDACornerIllusion, i write this in this section of the Diamond general thread and made a double post at PDACornerIllusion development thread
I suggest you perform a hard reset before flashing any new rom and that you use the traditional "flash-from-PC-using-ActiveSync-connection" method to flash.
And above all I wish you luck!
What was the other ROM you flashed? I am curious.
rondol1 suggests you hard reset prior to flashing a new rom. I suggest you hard reset after flashing a new rom. Net result is probaby much the same. You could even just do a hard reset now with whatever is loaded and things will probably improve. Main thing is...whenever you flash a rom do a hard reset straight after loading it. I always do this religiously and with the exception of one recent rom I tried I have never had a problem.
First of all, thank you both for trying to suggest hints, i really appreciate it.
I've never hard reset the ROM before or after having installed a new one. I never have a problem before.
For the last 2 months, i was on NEON 1.28, then i've decided it was time to update seeing the new features of the more up-to-date ROMs
I've just reflashed it (an hour ago) with PDACornerIllusion 21139, i've hard reseted before and after. let's see how it turns out ....
I've tried NATALY, CLOUDY, MORNA & AZTOR, no luck with any of them, all died after a soft reset or after the 1st sync (reconnecting for a 2nd sync).
Maybe the problem comes from the very root of the phone (like BIOS in a PC, dunno), maybe something in there got corrupted. How to repair it if my guess exists and is it repairable?

There in lies the problem.
I bet you will be fine from now on. Don't ask why you need to do the hard reset - as no one has been able to give a definitive answer - But it is a well known step that many chefs recommend post flash - just do it from now on and you wont regret it.

completely agree with logger - hard reset after you flash any ROM. I haven't used PDACorner - so can't say for sure... but do the flash via CustomRUU once... when the new ROM is flashed... do a hard reset as soon as it's complete..
good luck!
let's see then, >>>>crossing fingers<<<<
I've had this happen a lot lately as well. Might have something to do with the newer SYS? Anyway, hard reseting hasn't always fixed it for me. However, flashing back to the Sprint stock ROM (or HTC stock for you GSM guys) then flashing a new custom ROM has always done the trick. Maybe because the stock ROMs are bigger and "clean" out the memory somehow? At any rate, flash stock and then you're good to go. No permanent damage.
no luck, after a 2nd soft-reset, the phone is asking "touch the screen to configure for the 1sy use blablabla", all data's lost again & again...
what do you mean by stock Rom ? the rom that came with my phone when i've bought it ?
I've got the same problem with the Diamond rebooting like a hard-reset. But I always did a hard-reset after a fresh install. I blamed it on the rom and tried several others, including donsalari's "Clean Basic Rom", the Gen.Y Sense 2.1 and 2.5 versions and an older Aztor rom. Same problem every time, the first reboot after changing the device locale works fine, then I set the whole phone up properly and on the next reboot it will come up as if had performed a hard reset.
Additionally, the file system on my internal storage got corrupted somehow, had to reformat. At some point, I also had the impression that data on the phone memory got lost gradually. First the Contact's numbers got replaced by some nonsense characters, then there were numbers and contacts missing, and finally I had no contacts at all. ActiveSync stopped working so I was in the middle of a trip without my phonebook...
I've got two hypotheses:
1) The Gen.Y bootloader messed with the phone (Had tried the Sense 2.5 Gen.Y rom before donsalari's)
2) Flash controller or Flash itself is broken
@dunnno: I suggest you rename the thread to something like "diamond hard-resets on 2nd reboot after rom install"
edit: oops, just realised I resurrected a very old thread... Maybe there's a fix already?
My diamond still suffers from this problem. I tried it again and again with different roms but everytime, at some point all my configuration is lost and the diamond reboots like after a fresh install. Can anyone please help?
I'm having this problem as well :|
Grr, I have to rely on my phone for so much, but it just doesn't want to work correctly.
Help is immensely appreciated.
Well, I got mine to work, I just flashed the stock HTC ROM and everything has gone back to normal. H3PO, I suggest you give that a shot if you are still having problems.
I had these problems when I first started flashing my Diamond with custom roms.
Now I always flash my carrier stock rom first, then hard reset, then flash custom rom, then hard reset and I never have any problems. I have no idea why flashing the stock rom first stops the problems but I haven't had any problems with the dozens of roms I've flashed using this method.
Also I always flash from internal storage, but others prefer using MTTY
I still have some problems with the Contact Database, but flashing some stock O2 Rom solved the "reboot as new" problem.

(SOLVED!!)Major issues!!!

Ok after countless searches on Google, and on here, with no help at all...I am making a thread. I decided a few days ago that since my phone ran terrible no matter what rom i used, that maybe the person who rooted it screwed it up. I decided to go back to stock, then back to root, then back to the rom, well somewhere i messed everything up. I had everything going good, but then flashed a bad .nbh from what i understand, got that all good now that i have a sd card adapter, now i have rc29 installed and running. When i try to use adb since i have no 3g and need wifi, it keeps saying cant find device, even tho i have used adb in the past just fine, and <enter>reboot<enter> does restart my phone. So i thought maybe its a spl error, i dled danger spl (newest from what my search found) but every time i go to recovery and try to flash update.zip i get errors. So i tried flashing the orig. just to see if it was a bad dl. Same thing. Errors. Im getting really frustrated. If someone could please help me i would greatly appreciate it. my email is [email protected] or [email protected] send me a email if you need an invite to gwave, id rather talk on that. Thanks Guys.
You can't flash a new spl with a stock rom. Did you make sure you have the right drivers installed for RC29.

It sounds like you're back to a "stock" phone after using the RC29 downgrade, which is a pretty good thing for you at this point because the stock recovery image just saved you from bricking your phone, by not allowing you to use update.zip to flash the danger spl with the old radio that you have from installing RC29.
That being said, now that you're back on RC29 you're gonna want to follow the rooting procedure over again to install a custom recovery image and then you can go about flashing your new rom after that.
You can follow the guide in Cyanogen's Wiki, Skip the First section called Downgrading since you've already done that, and pick up on the next section called rooting
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Full_Update_Guide_-_G1/Dream_Firmware_to_CyanogenMod
Thanks.. I did end up following that wiki, but the heart n sole of the problem this whole time was a bad usb cable, tried a diff. one and it worked..I feel like a jackass,,
