Nexus one Vibrator w/frame, Required, help? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Currently, i have a $600 pile of garbage because I can't get a $20 part. I am hoping that someone one here might be able to help me out.
The piece I am looking for, i believe is referred to as the "Vibrator with Frame". The link below, is the only place I can find the piece, but after numerous emails, I get no response, not sure it's because I only speak english, or they only advertise it, but don't actually have the part
http://www.lunacommerce.com/269-google-nexus-one-vibrator-with-frame.html
There is a piece of electrical tape attached to this part, but underneath it lies the antena for GSM reception (wish I knew this beforehand), an orange colour.
So, does anyone on here have any idea how I could get this piece? Does anyone have a bricked nexus one wanting to sell any parts? PLEASE, ANYONE????????
I have contacted HTC, (unbelievably), they claim there is no parts department, so I can't get this part from them, unless I send in the phone (which I am not willing to do). I was thinking there must be some third party repair centers that might be able to get this as well, but they couldn't tell me of any.
Also, I don't need this thread to be full of comments suggesting I shouldn't had taken this apart to begin with, I realize my mistake. I am an electronics technologist by trade, I have taken apart many devices in my time, just had some unfortunate luck this time around.
Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Not to be unhelpful here, but when I read the title of this thread I thought you were looking for something toooooootally different.

Well, first off I just realized I should have posted this thread in Q&A section, sorry Moderators.
Trust me, I realize that (in reply to quoted comment), if you think about it though, my subject is the literal part I am looking for, what I need (the antenna), is attached to this part.
I never thought originally that this was the part I was looking for either, but this is the only way to explain it.

ive seen 3 sites for nexus one parts somewhere either in the Q and A or the accessories forums.

Found the part, problem solved!
Well, thanks to a pm I received, I was able to order this part through ebay. Had to spend a little more than I wanted, but at least now I can put this back together and have a working phone to sell.
To respond to the post above, yes there are many sites with "parts for Nexus One" phones, I have been to many, many sites. I wouldn't have posted such a detailed question to begin with if it was that easy. All of these "parts" sites, offer aftermarket accessories, not internal components, well besides the touchscreen and digitizer.
Anyways, problem solved (hopefully, not sure until it is installed I guess!)

Motherboard replacement

Hey everyone,
I got my Tilt in April and at that time AT&T did not offer phone inssurance for it. The far right side of my mini-usb port is bent a little and this makes it a bit picky about charging and syncing. AT&T said it voided my warranty and that they couldn't do anything and told me to call HTC and they said I would have to replace my WHOLE MOTHERBOARD. They also said it would cost $305 to replace the whole thing.
My question: is there anything I can do about this myself? I am so concerned because I would like to sell this to a friend but get the port fixed if possible. Is there any other way to get AT&T to get me a new tilt or fix "something else wrong with it"? I can still sell it to my friend but I could get a bit more for it if this was fixed.
Thank you for any help.
You can fix this yourself by installing a new mini plug, they are fairly cheap, there is a few threads that have discussed how to do this yourself , if you do not mind taking apart your tilt...
Check the Wiki out as well
Or maybe I could have just been rude and told you to search just like you did to another user earlier...hmmmm
That was a fairly obvious question. I have not been able to find any specific threads about this for the kaiser. Also did not find it in the wiki. But it would be easy to over look seeing as I must type all this from my phone because my computer is dead at the moment. I will look tomorrow at school.
put in mini plug in this forums search , there are a couple of threads with decent info in them.. one of them has a link to taking the kaiser apart, and also has a link to a place the has the mini plug for $15 and also will says they will install it for $79....not bad if you do not have the skills..
PPC Techs are the ones offering the service

Since my soldering skills suck, this is what I would do...

how hard is it to put a new case/housing/body on the g1?

mine's gotten pretty beat up. how hard is it to a) find replacements for and b) replace the:
housing/body
digitizer
trackball
and could a noob do it? the only other device I've done a case swap on was a psp 3000.
and I don't have a warranty, so that isn't an issue.
and how do I know if something like this is authentic?

I don't think you could just walk into any store and find a housing for the G1 or nearly any phone for that matter. Maybe a wireless shop that deals with all types of phones might be able to get there hands on it.
As far as knowing whether that ebay ad is authentic, you really can't say. I would contact the seller and ask him personally. Also, 22 bucks isn't bad at all.
anyone else?
I'm also interested in this issue as I want to switch from black to white. Anybody?
bump...............
It has to say OEM in the description (original equipment manufacturer) if you want it to be authentic. Here's a link on dissasembly. It's straight from HTC

thank you.
has anyone here ever done it? any tips/tricks/warnings about doing it?
Not too hard, you just have to be really careful not to damage/remove internals xP

ooh, well I took apart a psp once for the same reason and I broke the connector for the screen's ribbon cable (apparently super glue is not a conductor b/c i was able to super glue it back on and it worked from then on) but I guess I now know to make sure to try moving the little lever in both directions and not to apply force.
If anyone has ever taken apart a psp, how does this compare to it?

bump please, I am interested in this as well... I have customized/built computers, fixed iphones, xbox remotes, xbox and xbox 360s ...not to mention took apart a TV, and a few laptops....
anything compareable in that list at all?
What would you rate the difficulty of replacing the entire housing on the G1 ? Please advise me..
I am getting ready to undertake this task as well. I ordered a complete replacement from Hong Kong OEM branded, the works. I will be documenting the process step by step, and may even make a youtube video, and link them here, to contribute to the HTC G1 community. It'll be at least 3 weeks before it comes, though, most likely. If you haven't done it by then, look for my work.

i was thinking about doing this but i never really got to it because none of the sellers had a manual on how to do it. ive taken apart ipods and whatnot but i love my g1 and i really dont want to mess it up :l.

Need Parts for Nexus One

I cracked my screen so I decided to order a new one and fix it myself, while in the process I accidentally tore the top flex circuit board and now I can't find spare parts other than screens anywhere. Does anyone know where I can get some or have one that is broken I am willing to pay ...
Hate when **** like that happens. . . try to fix something and something doesn't go right.
Not sure where you can get the parts you're looking for, but wanted to give props to you for taking the initiative to try and fix it yourself. Alot of people will be like "that's what you get for not just sending it back to HTC and having them fix it." How're you going to appreciate the intricacies of something if you don't take the occasional risk like this?
Hope you find what you're looking for.
Ps. Have you looked at http://www.monoprice.com/home/index.asp to see if there's anything you could repurpose to work?
Ha yea, I am definitely a DIY-er. Unfortunately this is a risk I knew I was taking heading into it, wasn't too worried though because I have fixed a lot of cell phones in the past, just got a little too careless with prying open with a flat head screw driver, it slipped and cut right into the flex circuit board. Should have been a little more careful haha. New screen looks great though! Now only if I could get it to power on! Of course HTC tells me it will cost up to $300 to send it to them to fix it.

Not sure exactly, but is this what you are looking for? http://cnn.cn/shop/google-nexus-digitizer-p-8252.html
Yea I tried that number and also that lunacommerce site is located in China, no prices on their website, no way to purchase anything other than contacting them first (which I have tried to no avail...). You would think some online store somewhere would have started selling spare refurbished parts. Whatever, guess I will have to pay HTC to fix it, kinda sucky.
If you find somewhere that can help you, please post back. I just had a similar experience, replaced the digitizer and the display wouldn't work afterwards. Figured I had damaged the AMOLED, so purchased another. Problem still persisted.
I've decided that I must have damaged the AMOLED connector on the logic board.
The upside is I can still use the phone when connected to a PC and using Android Screen Monitor.
So now I've ordered another Nexus One, I find it hard to get by without my daily Android.... it became an expensive drop of the phone.

No that is what I replaced in the first place. I am looking for the Logic Board. I will keep searching and update this thread if I ever figure it out. Going on 3 days without a phone and only being able to use Google Voice via my computer is starting to drive me insane!

My replacement needs immediate replacement!

So, yesterday, after my power button started failing for a second time, I called HTC to have them send out a replacement Nexus One. My replacement arrived today (wow, fast!) at 2 pm. Only one problem... they forgot to inspect the effing thing before shipping it to me! The earpiece is DEAD. The only way for me to hear callers on the other end is to activate the speaker phone. So, now I have to wait for the phone to get back to them via FedEx before they can send me out another one. They've been pleasant to deal with, and willing to work with me, but this is truly disappointing. Very poor quality control over there.
Bah. Meant to put this in the General section. Sorry.

Ha! Nevermind! It was moved. This is NOT a question or an answer, so I have no clue why it was moved to this section, but whatever.
hey at least theyre willing to work with you and send you another replacement (hopefully). its better than getting no attention at all. especially if your phone was rooted

What? How would anything root-related cause the power button to fail? It's clearly a hardware malfunction. Legally, they MUST uphold the warranty for any and all hardware malfunctions, unless they can demonstrate abuse or neglect. The burden is upon them to prove that something I did caused the power button to fail. The whole fuss surrounding rooting voiding the warranty is far overblown. Yes, HTC says your warranty is void if you unlock the bootloader. But those are only words. That's not how the law works in the U.S., and I'm sure HTC knows that.
The federal minimum standards are only waived if the warrantor can show that the problem associated with a warranted consumer product was caused by unreasonable use, including a failure to provide reasonable and necessary maintenance.

Question Hardware questions

Sure, why not? If it's to do with the S21U this is probably the best place.
You might edit the title in your first post to something more captivating like, "How do I interface a ceramic kiln to my S21U over I²C?"
Not sure I understand the reference to a "more captivating title", but as far as the phone here goes.
Got an s21 ultra, tmobile. Phone can't see any sim. I've TRIED all the OS related resets etc. Nothing works. Can't find a schematic other than the usual spammy looking ones in a google search. Nothing from Samsung.
I have the board out. It did have a hot spot on it while it was on. Removing a very small metal shield reveals an IC that has obvious high heat discoloration. Can't find any info in component. I see plenty of this model phone with the same problem for sale on auction sites.
Can I buy schematics/board level components for this phone?
No, you're not going to find any schematics.
If you have a good high res photo maybe somebody can tell you what the major parts.
I'd guess that the chance of getting everything working 100% is small.
You might be able to use it as an alarm clock or MP3 player or weather station.
I don't know e-sim!

Sorry, I really can't see anything from those photos. That appears to be the processor.
If it got really hot any of the BGA connections underneath it could have gotten wrecked/shorted.
I don't even know what the interface to a SIM is, but it could have been lost.
eSIMs are like SIMs except that they are soldered in. If you have one, you have one. If you don't, you don't.
Really hard to believe no one has any hardware info. Maybe I am in the wrong forum.
Any ideas?
