I have tried 2 or 3 different live wallpapers. They keep going away after a while. If the screen is off for a while and I go back to use the phone, it's back to the static wallpaper that was there before I switched to one of the live ones.
I'm running Damage Control. 2.09.01 and I've tried using the Mario Live, Galaxy Core, and Earth Live wallpapers. Is there a setting somewhere I need to change?

There isn't a true fix for this as our phones aren't made to run LWP. There was a file up a while back that would make them stick, but it would break EGL and make your LWP run at something like 1FPS.
some do stick. Beziers, matrix rain, fireworks, a few more. Just have to try
Thanks, I wanted to make sure it wasn't just me. I found that Substrate is sticking so far but it is the only one. I'll try some others.
I'm new to the rooting thing so I'm still figuring it all out.

I've had this happen more than a few times and seemingly at random intervals with both stock and custom (Cyanogen) firmware using normal Home and Open Home. I'll go from an app to Home and the screen will flick to the Home screen but with only the app drawer followed two or three seconds later by what is actually on that screen loading then appearing. I thought it would be a RAM issue that would vanish when I started using the linux swap file on custom firmware but no, I still get it. Once or twice a day I could tolerate but not once or twice every four or more app launches.
I've used Task Killer free to close those programs that forget to close / don't want to close but it still happens. Is it something I'm going to have to live with? I've used the Hero ROM floating around quite a lot and that doesn't suffer from this issue half as much.
Cyan's latest (3.9.7) has advanced launcher which need more ram that's why it's happening. Also, openhome is a resource hog, I don't know why would you be using it anyway. How many widgets are you running? Widgets contribute to the problem greatly. All in all, I have that same problem too.. it's just something we have to live with for the time being... I'm sure Cyan will fix it in his next release or two. n If you're inclined to do so... you can push regular launcher.apk from stable rom... that may sort things out.

It sounds like a combination of 3.9.7, widgets and open home. I run around six widgets, three of those are photo frames. With regards to Open Home... I was young and naive (pre-root) and couldn't stand the dull look of normal Android. Hero has a much nicer look to me. I know it's odd but on a Hero ROM I run around seven widgets although two of those are to toggle WiFi and GPS. Still, at least I've got some idea of what to check now. Thanks for the heads-up!
I bought one from the market, but I dont know if they work on the slide and if so, how do I apply
i dont think ther is a way to select live wallpapers i tried it the other day with a free one and it wouldnt let me select iton the n1 there is a tab that specifally lets you choose a live wallpaper. i think we will have to wait for a cooked rom or some one to pull a live wallpaper apk so that we can run them
I believe live wallpaper does NOT work on the slide.
no live wallpapers
I read somewhere that because this phone only has 600mhz the prosseser isnt fast enough to support it ... but for normal apps u can throw on whatever u want and the phone stays strong .......but i love this phone
Live wallpapers aren't compatible for this phone
Im so glad this phone DOES NOT support live wallpapers. No need for them

im pretty sure if the g1 can run live wallpaper the slide can it just hasn't been figured out yet this will likely come possible when root is established.
some of the live wallpapers were also running on the TP2 (dual boot with android).
if the moto cliq can run live wallpapers i think we can too heres a vid of the cliq keep in my i think its been sped up
http://www.droiddog.com/android-blog/2010/06/2-1-without-blur-hits-the-cliq/
the motorola droid came without the ability for live wallpapers but after their most recent update (two months ago, maybe one month??) they can now support it. doesn't that phone have a 528Mhz? I could be wrong but if that phone can run it I think this phone could too.
now that root has happened live wallpapers are possible. See the android development threads for that process.
If u rooted ur phone flash eugenes slidemeroot rom it has lwp feature in it.Download adw from market and you'll be able to use it on slide.
I'm 99.99% sure this will work but I can't test it myself cuz i'm on sprint. Also don't know for sure how you guys flash updates (too much going on) but if anyone wants to try this here is an update.zip to get live wallpapers on the slide. you will have to use a launcher to view them (such as adw launcher). If this works then I'll try to get them to work on sense.

haha, is this guy for real? there is no need for:
1. keyboards
2. touch screens
3. cameras
4. flashes
5. advanced os (osx-android-winmo)
6. bluetooth
7. wifi
8. gps
9. text message capabilities
10. need I go on...
its not that we need any of this on a "phone" its that we want it on our "phone"... Look at the first phones, they did nothing but make calls...
If you root your phone and put the legend rom on your phone youll have a faster os with live wallpaper... others will work with it using like adw, but I think the legend is smoother...
so i just tried to disable sense defaults
I set adwlauncher as home default and tried to apply a lwp but its a fail
this process worked on my magic with sense... so is it the new sense or something else in the stock ROM?

Stock ROM doesn't support them. You need a rooted build that has added in the support.
Slidemeroot5r1 supports LWP.

Just curious to know if this little machine will support live wallpapers? Been eyeing a Droid X live wallpaper for a while now and wanted to know if wallpapers such as this one will work on the Aria.

Live Wallpapers
I rooted my phone via Unrevoked 2, and running Liberated_Aria R006. I tried loading a live wallpaper, but I can not seem to find how to activate it. When I press menu then Wallpapers, Live wallpaper is not an option. Can I get a little help on where to go from here?
Thanks.
CM6 allows LWP. I don't remember Liberated allows that function since it bases on stock rom
You have to load the zip file from clockwork recovery.

Live Wallpapers
Thanks for all the help. I got it working.
I found this in one of the XDA forums archives, so I figured I would share it here again. I did the clean install option with Liberated-Aria R006, and no issues so far.
Here is the exact wording from the post by Bobj:
------------------------------------------------
6/28/10 - Updated to allow LWP in the Sense UI
* This assumes you have your phone rooted and have access to the Clockwork Mod to allow updating your phone with unsigned zip files *
1.) Put the file onto your SD Card in the root directory
2.) Access the Clockwork Mod
4.) install zip from sdcard (option 5)
5.) choose zip from sdcard (option 2)
6.) Click on the file you downloaded and put on your sdcard
6a.) If you run into an error when installing shut off your phone,, unplug it from the USB cable, then reboot it back into Clockwork Mod and start again from step 2
7.) Once done installing, go back one menu and reboot system
8.) Upon reboot you can now choose Live Wallpaper in the wallpaper options
*Issues*
The only issue that I know of at this time is you have to use the settings/personalize/lock screen wallpaper option in order to change the lockscreen wallpaper
If you have any issues let me know, I tested this on a fresh clean stock rom flash then updated to add in the LWP.
*Files*
Clean install of the LWP packages yyy.mediafire.xxx/?t5mjyjjgnjm
Select this if you want to install the LWP on a clean install or install without any LWP
Update install of the LWP packages yyy.mediafire.xxx/?jjowddzzmdw
Select this if you used the previous version with LauncherPro and Home Switcher. This will remove those packages and update to the Sense Enabled LWP.
--------------------------
Thanks again, and hope this helps.
(Due to that I am a new, please change the yyy to www, and xxx to com in the links.)
Thanks! Works great. Is there no way to use a LWP on the lockscreen though?

If you are using CM6, then whatever your wallpaper is is your lock screen. (sorry about the double is. 8th grade) If you are using liberated_aria, well my technical knowledge DOES know its bounds. Sorry.
I downloaded it, went into clockwork recovery and tried to install it from there and it didnt work. So i rebooted it and extracted the file, found the .apk, and installed it from there. It gives me the option of live wallpapers and lets me see the selection of live wallpapers, but everytime i try to set one of them, it force closes.
Any suggestions?

Honestly, it's not worth it. At all.
Reasons being, for this little Aria, it takes up an insane amount of battery. As much as the screen brightness when it's cranked all the way up. Also, in CM6, some of the touch screens (eg. Nexus LWP) aren't touch reactive, or at least do not respond quickly to it.
You can do it, but I'd advise just sticking with a regular background.

i agree. it works as says and installs easily. but most of the LWP on the market cost money and the ones that came stock with the install aren't worth having. the floating bubles and the pond with leaves were the only ones worth playing with. but i lost interest quickly. and reflashed a R04 rom and did a clean install of everything to get rid of it.
fun if you're easily amused

Using: NovaLauncher, Xperia Z Revolution ROM, DoomKernel
I can't set any wallpaper on my phone. Nothing works, everything comes up like in the screenshot (see attachment).
I tried Wallpaper Wizardrii and a bunch of other apps from the Play Store nothing worked. So I stuck to the Xperia Wallpapers that come with the phone, it was working fine until today, I rebooted my phone and now it's this way. Nothing I can do will make it normal again. Changed the theme, changed the wallpaper, nothing.
I've had this phone for a couple of weeks now and this may be the last straw.
Any thoughts?
Why do you assume that's Xperia's problem ? Seek support from Nova developers, that's a launcher problem... Clear defaults, use stock lanucher and check if you can change wallpaper. If the problems persists - contact Revolution ROM team, maybe they know what's going on.
Thanks, it was in fact a Novalauncher problem; however I can't really change launchers just like that, I've spent a lot of time getting this just the way I wanted. Will use LWP until an update addresses issue.
I was quick to blame the XZ because truthfully I have been really disappointed by this device overall. Guess I was wrong on this one

It has its ups and downs. But we should expect lots of problems with 3rd party apps because of 1080p resolution which is still a new thing to Android world.
Hi all I have just upgraded to Sense 6 and it seems HTC have removed the live wallpaper that lets you select multiple pictures from the gallery. I loved that wallpaper, is anyone else seeing the same or could someone upload the wallpaper I am referring to?
Thanks.
Yes, it's not there. I still have the old 5.5 ROM backup tough (I used it to restore old Notification sounds) so if you can tell me the name, I can upload it for you.

that is very kind of you. I really can't remember, i know it was in the HTC Live Wallpapers, maybe had the word album or gallery in the title? Why would they remove it, I thought it was excellent...

It is called HTCImageWallpaper.apk - unfortunately it does not work with Sense 6. Probably missing some other resources, so it needs porting.
But just in case, there is the .apk - it can not be installed, bust be placed manually to /system/priv-app

Thanks for the apk. It sucks that it doesn't work, I wouldn't know how to port it so I'm off to play store to find an alternative
Did you find a good alternative? From what I can see, it looks like most of the play store options have some kind of fatal flaw

What features did the HTC one have that put it in such high favor? I've been looking for a good slideshow WP app for a while. These are the best I've found:
Landscape Wallpaper - Good settings. Separate WP for lockscreen. Offers wallpaper scrolling, if desired (good when launcher doesn't support.) Can't choose to update on wake (only time limit), however seems to update on wake after timespan has elapsed.
Wallpaper Changer - Best options for gallery selection. Let's you choose and save custom albums, mixed of folders and individual pics. Can't modify albums. Seems quirky.
MultiPicture Live Wallpaper - Simple, works great. Can set to update with screen awake or even double tap. Supports web albums.

What I liked was the slow pan across each wallpaper before it faded to the next one.
I had a set of wallpapers with the same colours but different designs and it would switch to one, pan across, then fade to the next and pan across... I think the choice of panning left or right was random. It was just a nice behaviour that wasn't distracting but added a little interest, and the fade meant there was no jarring switch from one wallpaper to the next. Also it seemed to have no effect on battery usage,
