How to set up MMS(non-sprint) on Darchdroid 2.7? - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am not on sprint and have been trying to get mms set up on my hero.
Can anyone point me in the right direction I have tried setting my apn settings using apn backup/restore from the market. I also tried adding my apn settings using adb. But nothing seems to work. I was able to get settings to work on ZenExp other then a the phone number displaying wrong.
My mmsc is "http://mmsc.akdt.dataonair.net/".
I attached the an apn backup from a stock 2.1 rom from my carrier.
From looking at the list I can see 3 different apn names CDMA, Production, and Android.

Hey bud, I see your still having trouble with that. Well here's the only two bits I can give you, unless you really don't like sense roms I have found that they are the only ones that will let you play with any settings. Regaw makes a nice one but kinda plain. I'm on ALOYSIUS 2.1 and very happy with it. You actually have choices between an AOSP dialer or stock with EPST TO get into data and mls. It also sports two different launchers, an AOSP style helix or sense. I had no problem changing mms settings through adb with either ROM. At least take a look at ALOYSIUS, which is based off damagecontrol. Good luck bud.

The only problem with sprint based 2.1 roms is voicemail notification. I personally don't have any problem with not having voicemail notifications as I normally check when I miss a call but I am trying to set up my gf up with a rom that works without any major hiccups. Besides the the issue with mms the best option seems to be ZenExp, BitterSweet, or an AOSP rom.

Well bud, I haven't tried Zen or bittersweet. I have tried buffed, darchdroid, and froyo rc0 and none of them would take mms settings. I saw there is a buff update with mms fix so I'm gonna flash and tinker with it tonight. So far ALOYISIUS non oc'ed with maps and update is the best stable Rom I've run, would probably be a good one for your girl. Right now I'm going to try my voice Mail notifications and ill get back to you.

No notifications, but that is the only negative to this Rom so far and I've been on it for over a week. I will try buffed here in a little bit and let you know, as far as AOSP roms it was the best for me but no mms.

Buff still doesn't work.

New Dialer?

Is there anyway to get rid of the stupid Motorola Dialer and load any of the T-9 Dialing HTC Dialer's? I've seen and tried AtakePhone and DialerOne and don't really care for them.
You can't load any of the HTC dialer apps because they all tie into the Sense framework.

Just out of curiosity... what didn't you like about DialerOne? I've been using it for a bit and, while not as good as the HTC options, I find it much better than the Moto Dialer.
I liked Dialer1 on my Eris, but really love the stock dialer on the DX
Has anyone been able to set dialer one as default dialer? Also after you start it the screen will go to contacts no matter what the setting is.

I downloaded Dialer one and install yesterday with no problem.
First time I went to the dialer, the launcher asked which dialer, and allowed me to set dialer one as default. Been working fine so far.
Dialer One rocks! I love how I can use the keypad to find a contact. That was the one thing I missed having since upgrading my O2.

Seems to be working now. Sweet

(Q) Standard android/AOSP SMS

So i think one of my only gripes about the captivate right now is its inclusion of the twiz junk. I feel like the SMS app looks like it crawled out of a cartoon.
Ive searched around and am running axuras froyo right now, but does anyone know a way to get AOSP sms on the cap? Id rather not use handcent.
I dont care if its a theme or a rom. Whatever it takes.

love the theme just flashed it. However i have a question and im sorry if this is a really bad rookie question, but anyway. On your lock screen i see your clock and how you have the date in words rather than numbers. How do you enable that setting, i would love to have my lock screen identical to that in your screen shot. please let me know. And great work on the theme thanks

Custom Dialer, notification bar, and keyboard?

Just wondering is it possible to use custom notification bars, dialers, and keyboard themes without flashing a new rom? I found some notification bars and dialers Id like to use from the Magnolia rom yet keep my HTC Sense. I dont use any launchers or anything. I prefer HTC Sense over the others.
I am rooted and I do run the HeyItsLou Kernel v8
You can use metamorph or ninjamorph, free from the market, to apply the images.
Or you can create an update zip containing the apk's and flash them in recovery.
I tried Metamorph, but nothing happened.
If you are running a deodexed 2.2 or 2.3 ROM you can use the Kitchen.

Im running the stock HTC rom with the HeyItsLou v8 Kernel.

Somewhere in there I found some cool skins for HTC SENSE. This will only change a few things though. Not dialer and keyboards.
But themed Keys are easy to find. I'm sure you know all this, but I'm just trying to participate.

I already found the themes I like I just cant get them to install.
Forgot to say that no ROOT is required

Do you have HTC HUB? And is it HTC SENSE 2.0?
I haven't had any problems installing them, but I'll try to help as much a possible.
Install just like a normal THIRD PARTY .APK

Not familiar with HTC Hub. Not even sure what version of HTC Sense I have. I dont know how to check for versions.
Me either (dont know how to check sense version.)
But there are some signs. When you press personalize, does a path drawer come up and have Skins, Wallpaper, Scenes, Widgets, Apps, Shortcuts, Folders, etc..?
If it just has the last four mentioned when you tap and hold your home screen, then you don't have HTC SENSE 2.0
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
When I hit personalize I get scenes, home wallpaper, and default ring tone. Im almost positive I have Sense v1.
So how can I get these things to work with Metamorph? I have all the files downloaded and ready to go.
I'm not sure, because I never needed or wanted to use MetaMORPH.
Can you post a screenie of your Home and Personalize menu?
And what phone do you have? I'm sure you just unpack the zip in MetaMORPH.
I don't know much about it.

I have the HTC Incredible through Verizon.
Okay. So now we know your stock ROM was Sense 1.0, what Sense Rom do you have now?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
Oh, and a really nice ROM for DInc w/ Sense 2.0 is Myns Warm Z twopointtwo. You can change the skins to the ones you have downloaded.
By far my Favorite ROM for DInc when I had mine two days ago. Lol.

The stock HTC sense rom. I havent flashed any custom roms. I like the default one from HTC. I just want to change some minor things. I have a dialer picked out. I want to get rid of the verizon branding in my notification bar, and I want to change the battery icon and thats it.
Okay then you have to use metamorph. I'm pretty sure there's a tutorial somewhere around here. On the Myns Warm thread, there's a video tutorial on using MetaMORPH to change keyboards. I'm positive it works the same for battery and dialer.

After some researching I think my issue is with the amount of space in the /system folder. Only issue is I cant see that folder with Adao File Manager.

MMS Mod to have bubble messages?

I am looking for a mod of the mms apk to alter the look of messaging. Specifically, something that clones the bubble message look.
Not looking to theme everything, as I using a ROM I'd rather not get rid of.
Can someone lead me in the right direction?
Please and thank you!
There are plenty of sms replacement apps in the market.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
Yeah, use either Handcent or Go SMS in the market. They're both great SMS replacements!
chomp is also good.
but i don't think OP means an alternate app, i think he wants the tw4 mms apk, or something more native than gosms, handecent, and chomp.
download nitrality and you should find what you are looking for!
What ROM are you running? There is a fishable zip file in the OP of the evil fascinate ROM that flashes a messaging program that has the bubbles like stock. It replaces the message app that comes with the ROM so it'll be just like stock. If you are on a TW ROM it will probably work. If I can get to a computer I'll get you the link, if not just go to the development forum and goto nitro's evil fascinate thread and it's near the bottom with all the extras. If your not on touchwiz you'll have to use a market app., good luck! Make a nandroid before messing around just in case

Native Emoji?

I like how well emoji work with iOS devices and would like to not have to rely on the spotty Handcent add on to see them in texts. Any ideas as to how I could build them in to the phone's /system/font (probably here) partition so that they're native? I'd like them to work across the phone, not just sometimes in Handcent. Support for Twitter and the like would be a great addition.
Sure, some/most of you will think it's stupid/useless/dumb etc., but when how many friends have iPhones, I'd like it to "just work". Haha!
Thanks for advice! I plan on tackling this myself or with the help of others who may be interested, I just don't know where to get the images and encoding info to build into a font, or how to build a font.
Ok, just by decompiling the Handcent Plugin, I now seem to have all of the drawable and drawable-hdpi emoji images... Now, how does encoding work?
Im running AOKP and it has native emoji support. I had to enable it in the settings. I don't know if that helps you any but, just saying.

D3 ICS AOKP or on the GNex? (Weren't you one who got a GNex?) I could download that and dig through it to see where it might be contained.
I'm downloading M6 from AOKP now to look around. Your specific build would be nice as well. Is it just text support or device wide (Twitter etc.)?

D3(xt860) i wish i had a gnex. It's the 20120713 nightly. It's only the mms.apk. Whatsapp also has it if you want another app to poke through.

I feel like there needs to be something in the system of the phone that whenever the coding is encountered for an emoji, it's pointed directly to the corresponding image. Does anyone know how they're encoded/decoded? Isn't it Unicode?
This should help a lot...
http://punchdrunker.github.com/iOSEmoji/table_html/
I don't know if it helps but in /system/lib there is a file called libemoji.so (note I've changed roms again, this is in liberty I found this.) Not sure if other roms have it, or if it's even relevant, but with a name like that...

I'm trying to talk to the guys in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1522437&page=2 because they've got black/white emoji to appear with the font being edited. Now, can we just point the font to colored emoji...? Time to spend some more time researching and trying. Ideally, I'd want to make it a flashable add-on so that it works universally.
