Hi all, I have had this bug in varying flavours with both the Wizard and now the Kaiser.
If I make a call via Bluetooth (certain devices only e.g. JVC in car stereo), after the call, all audio is lost on the device when using the speaker, e.g. no ringtones, no TomTom voice guidance. (Oddly the touchtone sounds on the phone dialler continue to work.)
Making another call via Bluetooth works fine and all audio is heard, but not if calling via the earpiece of the phone - all phone audio is still muted. A reboot is required. (Even after a reboot, sometimes all audio is muted, and 2 or 3 reboots are required.)
It is like Bluetooth is 'stealing' the audio from the phone's speaker (which is should), but not giving it back at the end, however turning off Bluetooth doesn't return it.
It happens with WM6.x on the TyTN II.
If you can fix it either via a workaround (reboot the audio service after every call?) or a direct fix (HTC are useless and have not emailed me back), I will pledge you $100 via PayPal. I am sure others will join me in pledging an amount also.
Yes. I've seen the same thing with the last stock Tilt ROM, too.
Same here. But is not happening very often.
The other issue for me is if I have A2DP enable and listening to music, then making a phone call will drop the A2DP connection and I have to reconnect A2DP again. It happens to both my JVC car unit and Sony HBH DS220.
I tried that w/ Dutty's WM6.0 and the latest 6.1 rom
I have the same issue, with bluetooth disconnects.
Just staying on-topic here (you can solve A2DP issues with A2DPToggle a great free app), has anyone found a solution to this Bluetooth loss of speaker audio issue, or a workaround to avoid it happening?
Rebooting the phone after every Bluetooth phone call is hardly what I consider a high-end smartphone to require.
Same here
What Radio's are you guys running? (Ignore my signature for the moment, been phoneless and away from here for a while and just getting back up to date )
Haz
My current radio is 1.64.08.21.
I have also tried 1.64.06.04.
Could we be closer to finding the problem? Does the Radio contain the Bluetooth stack?
Here are all available Radios:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_Radio
I'm going to try 1.58.26.20 now. I suggest others try the other 1.5x variants and report back if any of them solve the bug.
Update: I am now offering $100 to anyone who can fix this - see 1st thread.
I have used Windows Mobile since the first ever SPV phone. This one issue is making me look seriously at abandoning that loyalty and getting a Blackberry. If I can fix this for $100 I could be tempted to stay however.
Have you tried BT Audio Toggle ? (found at http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/sams...luetooth-headset.html?perpage=20&pagenumber=1)
Maybe if this helps with your problem then a mortscript could be written to automatically run the utility after a phone call.
What bluetooth headset do you have? Have you tried other headsets or just the one you have? What version of 6.1 are you using?
Thanks, I'll give the audio toggle a go. Might need some help with Mortscript though
I am using the JVC KD-BT1 car stereo with Bluetooth in-car kit. However I can also lose audio on a clean boot even when not in the car, although that is very rare. When using it with the car stereo, it happens after almost every call.
I am running Sleuth's WM6.1 but the other people in this thread are using a variety of BT devices, ROMs, and HTC models.
Can anyone help with how to create a MortScript to run BTAudioOff.exe after each phone call?
Flash a NIKI radio. I had a similar issue with my JVC in-dash CD player and I just got all the radios and tried them all. All the NIKI radios seem to work a lot of the time, while some work and others don't.

Okay I tried this and before I even got in the car, chose to turn Bluetooth Audio off using the toggle. Since then I cannot recreate the issue! I am not having to toggle after every call, I only did it once and the problem won't come back!
Fingers crossed...
NP. 1 more thing. What do you mean all audio is lost? Do you mean that the auido goes through the bt device? Or just that there is no audio coming from either at all. If that's the case, then all you might have to do is go to Comm Manager>Settings>Bluetooth>JVC (or whatever you named it) and uncheck the Stereo sound and viola it should work unless you are not using A2DP >.> . I think it's either directing all sound to your bt device or trying to send sound to it but failing.

The issue is there is no audio coming from either the phone or the Bluetooth device. I hear the Bluetooth device disconnect, and its display shows that it has also.
I see no 'Stereo' option to untick for the JVC in its Bluetooth settings, only Hands-free and Wireless Stereo (already unticked).
No progress
Okay, this is seriously getting me down now It all sounded so promising. I have tried the following:
Flashed Niki Radio 1.58.21.23
Tried using Bluetooth Toggle - it seemed to work once when I turned BT off before connecting, but after a reboot the problem is back
Tried a HFP extension PM'd to me (thanks anyway - didn't help)
Made sure Bluetooth Stereo is unticked in the JVC's settings on the phone
I am not sure if the problem is worse when taking a call as TomTom is running.
Here is an interesting development which might help someone narrow down the cause:
I make a few calls, and as always audio is lost, even for phone calls sometimes.
Touchtones on the keypad are the only sound that the phone continues to emit itself. Everything else (TomTom, ringtones, etc.) is dead.
I then go into the JVC's A2DP mode and 'Connect'. The icon appears on the mobile's title bar, and I can hear phone audio through the car stereo.
I 'Disconnect' and the phone's audio is still lost.
What this tells us is that the phone is putting out sound, just not through the speaker.
If someone can write something that will reset the speaker driver after a call, my offer for $100 still stands.
Just to update this, the issue still exists with a clean install of HTC's new 2-May-08 WM6.1 ROM from their website. To***rs!
CJSnet,
Since we got the similar setup w/ exact the same issue (Att Tilt w/ JVC BT-1), I think the problem is basically Kaiser does not switch back to A2DP profile properly after headset profile from phone call. The same issue happens to my Sony HBH DS-220 stereo headset too.
I tried my Eten M600 w/ JVC BT-1 and does not see this problem
First post so go easy guys. I was able to flash a ROM and a few other things with no questions using search and just doing the leg work. I am sure the answer to my question is right under my nose but I haven't been able to word it correctly or something.
I have a Tilt using Dutty's 5.2.19716ROM (4/29/08). I am also using radio 1.65.14.06. I never changed it because everything was working rather well and didn't see the point.
Here is my problem. I have a motorola S9. In it's profile it is showing both wireless stereo and hands free. Ok now sound is actually very good and range is nice but it is not in stereo. I can maybe hear just a twinge of music in one ear but I am not sure, the other sounds like a champ. I can hear and answer incoming calls but no one can hear me on the other end. Lastly I can answer calls and use the volume keys on the headset but not any of the media player controls work, (next track, previous track, play/pause). Also skipping or lag is there but not that bad at all.
I tried the setting suggestion in the registry that was supposed to be set to "0" to turn on stereo but it was already at "0". (sorry forgot the path).
Thanks so much for any help in the right direction.
I am thinking about changing the radio. Also I am going to test the headset to make sure it isn't the problem. I have seen that most people haven't noticed any difference by changing the ROM. Anyone think it could be a radio issue?
I feel stupid as I tried to test the headset right away but didn't have a phone that was A2DP capable handy. I got my old phone a Sony w580i and set it up with the headset and it had the exact same problem. I am assuming that it must be a faulty headset? This reminds me of real life. I am talking to myself and answering my own questions.
thats the way to go... step by step troubleshooting...
Hello guys.
I have a Plantronics Voyager 815 mono headset, which is supposed to be a rather good one. The reception quality is great, however people on the other end either don't hear me very well, or they're telling me it's as if I would talk from inside a barrel.
I usually hold the phone in my hand, so it's barely a meter or so away from the headset. When I just use the phone (no bluetooth), the sound is crystal clear both for me and the other side.
I was wondering what your experience might be with bluetooth headsets and if you could perhaps recommend one that would also have a good outgoing sound.
Thank you.
Hi pedmond, I use a motorola S9 mainly for music, no one ever phones me unless I'm at work or my Mum, But I love it, the sound and reception are great. I did have a problem where the sound kept dropping out for a few seconds then coming back but it seems sorted since my latest flash (Dutty's 1.6 awesome). On the S9 the mic is built into the tiny in-earphone in a single unit, background noise is minimal. One thing I did was play with the settings in Schaps adv. config. until I was totally happy, I know you must have done this, and searched everywhere and also posted in accessories too! Maybe you have fluff in the mic!
Thank you for the input, uniqueboy.
I played indeed with Schaps settings, but unless I'm mistaken they are for stereo headsets - mine is mono. Your S9 would be too big for that.
I'm mainly using it at work for business conversations; I also need it to be small enough to keep in my pocket.
The headset I have has an extending boom, which makes the microphone hole pretty much self cleaning, so I would guess there is no fluff (at least I can't see none).
It's a bit annoying I can't use my set in optimal conditions. I'm willing to buy a new one, I just don't want to get into a trial and error loop - this can get expensive pretty fast.
I also don't trust a lot what I read on the net - this headset comes highly recommended, but I find this not to be true.
I would thus rather learn from other people's experience.

hi bro,
I am using Jabra 5010 mono headset as well as I-Tech Blueband Pro stereo headset. Both, i do not have any problem with bluetooth and sound/voice quality.
not to jump into conclusion that your set might be faulty ... Have you done any tweaks to increase/decrease volume? if so, try to reset to default. or try another rom, if using a official rom or cook rom gives the same issue, then most likely it will be your headset thats causing the issue.

OK, this may be a silly question: can I increase the OUTGOING volume on a bluetooth headset? (mono)
Just to mark this problem solved: turned out my headset was defective. I've had it replaced today and finally everybody can hear me just fine
Thank you for your help.
I know this was an known issue on the cupcake build, but I was hoping that it would be fixed in eclair. I've just installed 1.6 on my vogue. The microphone on my HTC OEM wired headset seems to work for voice activated calling and searching, but not when I'm in a phone call. the person on the other end can't hear a thing unless I unplug the headset. Is this still a known issue? I can't find an official list anywhere. Can anyone suggest a fix? Could another build work? Or is there some kind of patch? Thanks in advance for any help. I'll be one step closer to being WM free!
Can anybody confirm that they are also seeing this problem, or counter that they are not? What build are you using?
i experienced the same problem with the donut, haven't tested it with any other build.
I have the same issues with 1.6. I use my phone for work quite a bit and a headset is almost required for the amount of time I spend on the phone. Current, I am going back and forth between WM and Android. ON the weekends I stay on Android exclusively and can't wait till there is a solution for the wired mic issues. At that point I can pretty much say by to WM.

Spent part of the weekend looking for a decent bluetooth headset...
Thanks to everybody for confirming that my problem was not just my own. I may consider buying a bluetooth headset just to use android, but I have a really nice pear of in ear wired headphones, that I use with the HTC OEM wired mic... So I'd just like to add that if a fix was created for this problem, I would be really psyched!
Any fix yet?
i installed warm donut 2-20
my favorite set of wired stereo headphones works fine for music, but the built-in mic doesn't work on calls.
they worked great on WM 6.0 and 6.1, but the volume adjustment didn't work on WM 6.5 and the mic sensitivity was very very low where i had to hold the mic up to my mouth (which kinda defeated the purpose of 'hands free' while driving).
if they do figure out how to re-enable the mic for our android, i will be doing flips.
edit: ok doing flips. i updated to the 3-26 nbh and it got my wired headset to work properly, i.e. mic sensitivity is normal and in-call volume is adjustable. now it's time to do cartwheels if i can get my stereo BT headphones to play music. i just don't know how to edit my init.rc to include texas 4000000. anyone can help?
edit #2: ok doing cartwheels now. i did the edit to the sysinit.rc file (by adding 4000000 after the word texas) and BT audio for music is working. i had to edit the sysinit.rc file in notepad, copy it to my sd card, then use root explorer to copy and paste/replace in the system folder. i'm sure there's an easier way but i couldn't get astra to hold my edit/change to that file.
a very happy camper here !
edit #3: not a big deal, but now when my wired headphones are plugged in and a call comes in, the phone vibrates but no audio (the ringtone used to sound in the headphones and does the same w/ the BT headphones) but if listening to music the song does stop. like i said, not a big deal. still very happy w/ the latest fixes.
someone could help us with fixing this.
Someone who's running haret, make a haret log, boot android and try to make a call with the headset.
enable logging in HaRET is to create a file "earlyharetlog.txt" in the same directory as the haret.exe program. The next time one runs HaRET, it will create a file "haretlog.txt" with logging information.
Thank send the log to my email. [email protected]
I created the earlyharetlog.txt file, ran android and tried to make a call with the headset. I'll email the resulting haretlog.txt file. I'm no expert, but just looking at it, it looks to me like it just contains boot info and not anything about the call attempt. Maybe I'm missing something. Regardless, thanks for the offer to fix this.
This should be fixed now, try the latest kernel/NBH. I also fixed the volume control for headset and speakerphone.

This might be silly. But which earbud is for left ear: long or short string?
Nettalk seems to partially work on the Gtab. I just side loaded it onto my xoom and it works perfectly however on the gtab it hangs up after a while. Just seeing if the community knows of a fix maybe even as easy as a external mic?
Here is the apk you can download from the market for free!!
There is a microphone though..
hmmm i wonder why i can hear the person on the other end but they cant hear me but on my xoom it works both ways??

Don't know but I wonder if its the same reason Shazam doesn't even setup for me
I can make calls but they end after 30 secs for some reason and the person on the other end cant hear me? I was wondering if it was a mic issue not hearing anything so it shuts off the call of a programing issue since the xoom has 3G capabilities but the website says it can make calls over wifi?

no microphone??!! I use my Gtab skype with my gf everyday... hmm, guess she really can't hear me in the other end, and she's just pretending that she knows what i'm saying... because there's no microphone...
Yes, the gtab does have a microphone.
Now what might be happening here is what happened to me using Skype. For whatever reason, when placing a Skype phone call, the microphone is on mute. Hitting the little button on the bottom left enabled the mic. Calls then went smoothly.
I have to re - enable the mic for each call. A small inconvenience really
OK good grief LOL i just got my gtab so I am not that familiar with it and was thinking out loud about it not having a mic LOL has anyone side loaded this apk like i did and used it? I hit the mute button and it does nothing?
Edit--- Ok the problem may be my router. I have a Belkin and it is listed as one of the bad ones that only enables one way voip calling going to try tethering.
Maybe a dumb question, but did you try using speaker phone? BTW, which rom are you running?
It works for me. Must hit speaker phone. This is really cool. Calukins and Pershoots overclock kernal.
Update: this program works but the person on the other end hears everything they say after they say it.
I hit the speaker phone tab in the nettalk program and i can hear the person on the other end but they can not hear me. I am running vegan ginger edition

To test it I called 1800555TELL and on the speaker it was getting confused pretty easily. But with a headset plugged in it seemed to be fine. I expect my bluetooth would have been even better but didn't try it. My quick testing on other things tells me the headset jack has no mic in or it isn't switched on. Its just headphones.

Yes TELL ME is voice response. So I said "News desk" and it went to the news. Then I said "Top stories" and it read me the top stories. You could probably try bing411 if you'd rather.
yup works perfectly. because the mic is close to the speakers the mic can pic up sound from the speakers and give it the eco effect. when i use it with headphones it works perfectly.
What rom are you running cause i have vegan gingeredition and i dont know if it is the rom or me but the everything works except the person on the other line can not hear me, gonna try an external mic
