Question about SD card - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For some reason my sd card just started saying I have errors with it and it might need to be formatted. If I copy everything from the sd to the computer, format the card, then copy it all back, will it mess up any settings I have? It is able to read the card in recovery.

What your going to do is, copy all your files from your old SD card to a space on your hard drive. Then, insert the new SD card into your phone, format it, and only after you have formatted inside the phone, you can put your files you copied to your hard drive onto the new SD card. Just drag and drop. Simple.
p.s. This is just what I would do. Might be a faster way

If you are using apps 2 sd, here is what I did. Made a nandroid back up with extension. Copied everything off my sd card to my computer including the nandroid back up. Inserted the new card into the phone and booted into recovery. Partitioned the new card appropriately for apps 2 sd. Copied the files back onto the sd card. Wiped data, dalvick, and ext while in recovery then restored the nandroid back up. Everything should work then.
If you're not running a2sd copy to pc and then on to the new card after you've formatted

NEW SD CArd

I got my 32GB MicroSDHC Class 6 and wondering if all I need to do is a copy paste and start up my phone...???
You want to back up your SD card on your computer, then boot up your phone with the new SD card and format it
Then copy data from your old card to your new one...

Format? Where do I do that? How do I do that?
There are two ways to format an SD card. 1) put the SD Card in ur phone and goto settings and SD card storage and memory (exact wording may differ) and you should see an option to format the card. ( must not be mounted unmount first)
2) using ur computer but it varies by OS and platform

[Q] "SD card blank or has unsupported file system"

Hi all. I've been doing some research on this for some time now, and I haven't been able to find anything of relevance.
I have a 32GB Kingston microSD card that my phone cannot read. I get the following error:
"Bank External SD card
SD card blank or has unsupported file system."
When I try to format it with my Galaxy [2.2 legit froyo], it will still not let me mount it. Now this SD card may be FAT32 or it maybe NTFS - I'm not too sure, but which ever one it is, my phone doesn't like!
I don't know how to access this memory card via my computer, I was wondering if there was a fix for this or if there was a program on the Market that will allow me to format back and forth with NFTS and FAT32 through my phone?
I've tried everything, whatever I do just does no work, so please don't be telling me to make sure I've put it in correctly or take it out and put it back in because they simply do not work.
Thanks in advance...
No? Bump... Please help me, I hate having no space on my phone!
Try using a card reader and see if shows up on the computer. Sd formatter has worked for me before to bring an unresponsive card back. Do a google for sd formatter.

How can I go about actually connecting my microSD to the computer..?
You will need an sd card reader and the adapter for the micro sd.

Rooted NC will no longer boot up with SD Card installed / Boots fine with SD card out

Rooted NC and ran fine for last 2 weeks. Yesterday it would not not boot up with the SD card installed, but boots fine with the SD card removed. Anyone know of a solution? Thanks.
Is the SD card the one you used to root? If so, boot your NookColor then format the SD card from Settings. The "AutoNooter" SD card image is bootable, so every time you booted with the SD card in it was trying to re-root your NookColor.
This is the same SD card I used when I rooted. When root was complete, I erased contents of SD card. Sd card content now consists of movies, game data, books, and music. It has booted fine with this information on the SD card for 2 weeks, but now will not.

Man, that's weird. Unless there was something you downloaded on the card that's trying to boot, I'd probably recommend looking into an exchange for a new one.
Step One: Try another uSD card.
Happened to me just after I rooted. Using my Windows machine and card reader I copied all the contents of my card to a folder, formatted the card to FAT32 and then put the contents back onto the SD card. There were some system and hidden files at the root level on the card which I did not copy or put back on the card. This fixed the problem and I did not lose any data.

Sd card keeps changing to r/o

As above after every boot it defaults to r/o so I can't download anything until I change it to r/w?
Why is this?

Have you applied any vrthemes?
I had this happen to me after applying some vrthemes that had some issues and caused corrupted files on my external sd card.
If you have tried to apply a vrtheme that failed you can see if you have one or two vrtheme folders on the sd card one will be backup and if they can not be deleted then you will need to format the sd card to get it back to normal.
Just copy what you can from the sd card to a computer, format the card and then copy the files back to the sd card. That will make it back to normal
Ok I've formatted the card. Is it normal for the internal sd card to be r/o?

No it's not. You should be able to write to the internal sd wihout problems. I copy and download files to it all the time
Well I don't know then. I suppose I'll have to do a factory reset

If that doesn't help either I'd recommend installing a different rom
