Protected Apps Missing After Carrier Update - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm on Appalachian wireless and i noticed that after running there 2.1 update for the hero, protected apps like documents 2 go are missing from the market, this only happens on the official rom.
if i use an unofficial rom like darch2.7 all my apps show in the market. I was just curious if anyone on alltel, cellsouth, or any of the other regional carriers are having this same issue with there official 2.1 update.

i hope this isn't a stupid question...

Will a HTC magic from Rogers be able to access and download all of the apps available on tmobiles app page if its using at&t?
Not quite sure what you mean by T-Mobiles app page.
The phone will run any app that is written for the version of Android OS it is running (ie 1.5, 1.6 or 2.0). Beyond that there are two main streams of the OS (HTC and Google). Certain apps depend on the HTC framework to run. If you have a phone with just the Google framework, these apps will not run. If this is the case and you desperately wanted that app you could flash a ROM that has the HTC framework, and it would run.
You can loads apps from the Market using the Market app. You can also load apps from the net, or from your computer via USB.
An example of this is the Canadian Rogers Magic, a 32a device. It is based on an HTC ROM which meant you got a nicer HTC dialer, along with some craplets from Rogers. When I flashed it to RA-IONv1.6.2H, which is a Google based ROM I lost the ability to run the nicer dialer, however the Google ROMs seem to run faster.
Ah ok I understand, I think i just called it the wrong name. Thanks man!

Market missing some applications

I'm running eVil D's NXSense ROM on my N1 and I've noticed that some applications are missing from the Android Market.
The ones I've found so far are:
- Moviefone (com.aol.mobile.moviefone)
- FCC Mobile Broadband Test (com.ookla.fccbroadband)
- Slacker Radio (com.slacker.radio)
- Parcels (eu.zomtec.android.delivery)
Any ideas why I wouldn't be able to access these applications?
were you able to get them earlier from your region or not? The applications might not be available in your current location- if its that you can try MarketEnabler app to sort it out!
I'm not sure as I hadn't tried to installing them until after I had installed NXSense.
My phone is configured for US as far as I know.
I'll try MarketEnabler and see how it goes
Looks like that was the problem. I forgot that I'm currently using an Australian SIM so the apps weren't visible. As soon as I changed the phone to use T-Mobile US, the missing apps appeared.

[Q] Froyo vs Gingerbread App compatibility

How's it going this weekend XDA?
I popped the AT&T 2.3.3 Rom and it is working really nicely. I am a minimalist by nature and I feel the stock ROMs stripped of bloatware are the simplest and sweetest when you balance function and aesthetics.
However, after a few weeks on this ROM, I am noticing some issues where Froyo and Gingerbread overlap. I know that many Froyo apps are not designed for, or in some cases, updated to support Gingerbread. However, these apps seem to run fine on my Gingerbread setup after I restored them from my TiBu backup. However, when I search for the app in Marketplace, they do not show up.
The root of the issue is that I have a Blueant T1 Bluetooth headset that is supposed to be able to auto update it's firmware through the Android app. When the headset is connected, the app indicates that the firmware can be updated and it should do so automatically. However, when you cliock on the link to update, it says that the app doesn't exist in the marketplace, presumably the problem is that my device does not officially support Gingerbread and the conflict might thereby wipe the app from the Marketplace. I can see that the app is there in the Marketplace when I am not logged in via my phone(ie on the pc), but if I try to download it it disappears.
I have also noticed this with other apps, ie Google Body. It apparently needs Gingerbread to function, but 'My device is not supported'.
Any thoughts? Is it that my phone is sending it's model and make which is not compatible, or that the discrepancy between what I should have on the phone vs what I do have doesn't jive with the Marketplace?
Am I facing a build.prop tweak or is there another way to work around this? Any and all input will be useful.
Thanks!

[Q] why do sprint apps only run on the official ROMS

The subject says it all. I have been wondering for some time now why it is that the official Sprint branded apps (NASCAR, TV, FOOTBALL, ID PACK, etc) do not recognize us as Sprint customers when we are running custom ROMs. Does anyone know?
its all in the framework and i know sprint tv would work on my old mytouch before i got the hero.
I don't think it is a framework issue. It is not that they won't install. The apps will install fine. There is an authentication issue. For most when you launch the app you get a message stating you must be a Sprint customer in order to use this app. Another reason I don't think it is a framework issue is that this apps are installed on all Sprint phones with each android phone running a different framework. I could be wrong though.
It would be great if I could get Sprint apps to run on my phone.
I'm running CM7 on my Hero, and can run Sprint Nav, and Nascar as well as Sprint VVM, without issue.
I will say however, that I tried a program that allowed me to change the carrier ID tag on main stern to anything I wanted, and Nascar app stopped working, starting it was only for Sprint Customers!

[Q] at&t Samsung tab 8.9 gripes / questions

There are probably discussions of this all over the place but I wanted to put my gripes in one spot and this seems like a great place.
1. Why can't I uninstall this at&t crap. Like their Navigation program. I will never ever use it.
2. Why can't I get rid of these at&t bookmarks?
3. Why does my Market App not update, still waiting for version 2 let alone Google play.
4. Why do Google Play movies that I purchase and download not work.
5. Why no official Ice Cream Sandwich?
Any suggestions on getting around all of this would be so much appreciated. My Moto Xoom that I purchased about two months before the tab updated to ICS over a month ago!
I have to problem rooting or flashing so if that's the only way to get this thing to work the way I want.........just point me in the right direction.
Try flashing the Telus or Bell firmware. Less/no bloat, tethering, etc.
I will sure try it. Do you know if the 4G LTE works using that firmware? Having tether capability would sure be nice.
1. Root and remove bloatware using titanium backup
2. ATT bookmark removal: there is a way, i just cant recall right now
3. You can install the latest market apk i believe, and other people have updated theirs...i havent yet though.
4. If you are rooted, the movies wont work from google play
5. ICS is a slow release with samsung
