Issue installing spl and latest radio - G1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Everyone,
I am been visiting xda since I got my g1/adp1 over a year ago. I have been using it and it has been doing very well for me. Back in January I had flashed a rom and I had ended up with the hardspl. Since then for some odd reason, I was never able to flash the dangerspl or engineering spl. So from what I looked over on the forum, I used the dream.nbh file and went back to the original release and then flashed the cupcake update as advised in one of the posts here. After doing that, I was able to log in and install FlashRec and install the Amon Ra 1.6.2 recovery.
However, after doing that, I tried to flash the updated Radio and the hard spl, and I have been unsuccessful. Prior to installing the radio, I do the wipe/factory reset and then flash the ota-radio-2_22_19_26I.zip. After it complete it and pressing back + home, it even says writing radio image. However, when I boot into android or fastboot, it still shows that radio is 1.22.12.29. And the spl is the original 0.95.0000. I have also followed the procedure in the above link to install the radio then hard spl and then the cyanogen Cyanogen4.2.12.2 installation. I was able to boot into the rom; however the radio is still 1.22.12.29 and the spl is 0.95.0000.
With regards to info on the phone, it is DREA100 PVT 32B. So I would really appreciate anyone’s advice on how I can restore it to the engineering SPL or install the hard spl and then switch to the danger spl; and also update the radio. Thank you

When installing a radio or SPL, you need to follow its instructions.
That means that when you start in recovery mode and flash the "update.zip" matching your radio, its first step is to write it (to the cache partition), then reboot into update-radio mode, then write it AGAIN (to the radio partition), then reboot into recovery and format the cache partition.
You need to follow it the WHOLE WAY THROUGH -- not stop at the first stage and call it good.

Hi,
As mentioned before, I did follow the guide to the T on re-rooting and reflashing. I followed both ttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=606147 and also ttp://theunlockr.com/2010/04/26/how-to-root-the-htc-g1dream/ + ttp://theunlockr.com/2010/04/26/how-to-load-a-custom-rom-on-the-htc-g1-dream/ . However, neither of these procedures resulted in the installation of the hard spl or the updated radio ota-radio-2_22_19_26I. The adp1 continues to be to have the Original G1 Spl 0.95.0000 and radio 1.22.12.29 from the flashing of the Dream nbh file.
So could anyone please advise on what else I can do to flash and update the spl and the radio. Thank you ^^.

you can try to flash the radio through adb/fastboot its better and safer to do..

oh? can you please tell me the adb commands to use to flash the new radio? I have look at the ADB guide for dummies and ttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532719 & ttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517874 . I can't seem to figure out how to install radio via adb. When I had the hardspl, I could install radio, system, boot, etc via fastboot. But adb is unfamiliar to me as I have never been successful with it. So can you please guide me with the commands to follow ^^. Thank you in advance.

Thats what i meant was fastboot that was my noobieness to say adb.. flash radio thru fastboot...

Yes, fastboot is where I am trying to get too. However, the original G1 spl is not letting me access fastboot. If have files on the sdcard, in fastboot it shows serial0. But when I wipe it, it shows nothing under the original g1 fastboot mode.
So can someone advice me on what I can do to install hardspl or engineering spl to get fastboot working again T.T.

same problem
hi! am having exactly the same problem. stuck on stock SPL (hboot 0.95.0000) and radio (1.22.12.29). flashing radio via recovery (RA-dream-1.7.0) yields same results (formatting cache...). tried rebooting after reboot by radio but i still end up with old radio.
any thoughts?
i want to update radio so i can flash dangerSPL and be able to flash CM6.
TIA!

Yep, that's exactly how it works. First off, are you using T-Mobile USA?
Remember to NEVER flash DangerSPL on a 1.x, 4.x, or 6.x radio!!
The following are compatible radios that you can safely flash before you flash DangerSPL:
2.22.23.02 (T-Mobile USA)
3.22.26.17 (Rogers CA)
3.22.20.17 (Orange UK)
2.22.19.26I (Non-US)
Sent from my HTC Dream using XDA App
CyanogenMod V6.0.0 Stable / HBOOT-1.33.2005 / Radio 2.22.23.02 T-Mobile USA

using a T-Mobile G1 outside the U.S.
ok, since i can't update radio as it stands, here's my plan.
1. reboot to recovery mode
2. flash HardSPL
3. flash radio
(... if radio update successful)
4. flash DangerSPL
5. flash CyanogenMod6
6. do the funky chicken!
sounds good?

Yes, but I don't think that will make a difference. You should be able to flash the radio successfully on a stock HBOOT. I've never had problems flashing the radio before, so I don't know. But sure, you can update the HBOOT to HardSPL, but I don't think it'll make any difference.

exact same problem
Having the exact same problem. I have literally spent 2 days trying to do this.
Trying to do the whole CMwiki procedure, unlockr procedure, and various others.
Luckily I didn't brick it.
But I am in the same boat, now matter what I try, after flashing the radio via
recovery amon-ra 1.7 I check on fastbook and it is still 1.22 version of radio.
I have the stock Hboot, etc....
Has anyone had luck with fastboot / adb flashing the radio??
Thanks for any help.

Flash HBOOT 1.33.2003:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6510019&postcount=76
Once 1.33.2003 is installed you can install 1.33.2005 via fastboot as on the post I linked to .. or skip directly to the newer 2708+ radios/SPLs with extra ram:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831139

ok guys hopefully i can solve this problem.. i never had this issue but have had slight problems almost like so here was my solution....
Stage 1 un-rooting (very simple)
1. download update.zip and DREAIMG.nbh files here...
DREAIMG.nbh http://www.4shared.com/file/9izdCbvo/DREAIMG.html
update.zip http://www.4shared.com/file/ePnmmoxA/update.html
2. boot into recovery mode and do complete wipe of everything, also repartition your sd card set 0mb swap and 0mb ext..
3. then either use usb mounting through recovery or power off and place sd card in comp to copy files over.. than put back in phone and boot in recovery.
4. flash update.zip
5. power on in boot loader and flash DREAIMG.nbh
6. reboot and do normal setup just to make sure you are 1.0 firmware
Stage 2 Re-Root device..
1. download update.zip, flashrec, recovery.img, radio and spl files here...
1.5 update http://www.4shared.com/file/EyiKXmTd/update.html
flashrec http://www.4shared.com/file/ABXfQQ1H/flashrec-113-20091107-2.html
radio 2.22.23.02 http://www.4shared.com/file/jGTeRvfs/G1-radio-2_22_23_02.html
SPL http://www.4shared.com/file/nJkB58Qf/Latest_G1_SPL.html
recovery http://www.4shared.com/file/zCVPjMUz/recovery-RA-dream-v170-cyan.html
2. place files on your sd card than boot into recovery
3. flash update.zip (gets you to firmware 1.5)
4. now boot up normal and go to settings, check in applications and check unknown sources and usb debugging.
5. go to market and download "oi file manager" open app and select the flashrec file
6. when finished select open, then press backup recovery, then type in the box sdcard/recovery-RA-dream-v1.0.7-cyan.img then select flash recovery image.
7. when finished power off phone then boot into recovery.. wipe data factory reset, then flash the radio.zip press home+back to complete installation
8. wipe data again, now flash spl.zip, press home+back to complete..
9. now partition sd card.. i use 128mb swap and 1024mb ext4...
Stage 3 advanced rooting
1. download danger spl, fr boot, super wipe, radio and hboot files here...
fr boot http://www.4shared.com/file/gjRmpuh7/FR-boot-v157-CustomMTD_S.html
hboot (0.33.0013d) http://www.4shared.com/file/tfbsSTys/hboot0013d-signed.html
superwipe http://www.4shared.com/file/qm3gl7fQ/Ohsaka-SuperWipe_v2.html
radio (2.22.28.25) http://www.4shared.com/file/tMqoIX3p/update_2222825_S.html
2. place files on root of sd card
3. boot into revovery wipe data cache all that good stuff than flash the spl.zip let finish...
4. flash superwipe, power off than rebbot to recovery then do manual wipe of everything data, cache, battery, sd partition.. then repair sd..
5. flash the fr boot file, then go to console and type reboot recovery
6. flash radio file, let it finish then flash the hboot file.. power off than power on in fastboot mode (camera+power) and check phone stats.. should be on latest radio and hboot and s-on than you are free to flash roms from here...

Stuck on installing new radio

So I have been stuck at 1.5 forever. I got the phone the first day it came out and rooted it as soon as it was available but got lazy about it after that and never messed with it.
So I finally decided to install Cyanogen Mod 6/2.2 for the phone and took the plunge. I followed the instructions and everything went well up until the flashing the new radio (2.22.23.02). It seemed to go fine until it prompted me for a reboot and first said installing, but now it's been stuck at Formatting CACHE:... for over 10 minutes.
I haven't touched anything and was hoping someone could let me know the proper course of action. I'm using Amon_Ra Recovery image BTW.
Also, I had already downloaded everything in anticipation of the 2.2 upgrade and the DangerSPL zip file is 0KB. I'm going out on a limb here and assuming that's incorrect.
http://www.mediafire.com/file/mygwqxgmdz2te2j/haykuro_new_spl-signed.zip
there is danger SPL.. also is it at the recovery menu saying formattin cache, are you able to move the thru the menu using the track ball?
Yeah, I can move through the menu just fine. I just don't know what to select.
Ok thats fine then Lol... your ok you can continue to do what you wanted to do...
once flash new radio it will want to reboot so reboot and it will isntall new radio and should go back to Recovery
let it do its thing once you are able to move around in recovery menu you can continue with the steps of flashing new rom..
Oh, ok. Thanks. I just thought something was wrong because it was still flashing messages at the bottom like it was doing something until it got to that formatting cache, and I thought it would have automatically rebooted if it went correctly since I had already selected reboot.
Again, thank you.
Oh, and the haykuro spl will work fine instead of the death spl? Is it just another version of the death spl?
Flashing Radio
Please follow the instructions that correspond to the custom recovery image on the HTC Dream to flash the radio.
Amon_Ra's Recovery process
1. Download the latest version of the radio (2.22.23.02).
2. Place the radio update.zip file on the root of your SD card.
3. Boot into the Amon_Ra's Recovery.
* Power off the HTC Dream, and reboot holding the Home button plus the power button.
4. Once you enter Amon_Ra's Recovery, scroll up & down with the trackball, and the trackball button to select.
5. Select Flash zip from sdcard.
6. Select the radio update.zip.
The Nexus One will reboot during this process.
7. Once the installation has finished, select Reboot system. Now the HTC Dream's Baseband version should now be 2.22.23.02.

Prerequisites
1. A rooted G1/Dream
2. A compatible radio (IMPORTANT: If you just rooted, the RC29/RC7 install includes a 1.x radio and you MUST install one of the 2.x radios below before DangerSPL)
* 2.22.23.02 seems to get more bars for T-Mobile US customers, though non-US users might have better luck with 2.22.19.26i.
* (HardSPL/Engineering Spl Users) Radio installations can be had by fastboot flash radio radio.img after extracting radio.img from the .zip
* Either of the following radio versions is acceptable.
o Radio 2.22.19.26I
o Radio 2.22.23.02 (G1)
o Rogers Dream users: A 3.X radio is Danger compatible (eg 3.22.26.17)
Failure to meet the Prerequisites WILL result in a BRICK!
Files required
1. DangerSPL: Download
2. Latest version of CyanogenMod 5/6
3. Corresponding latest version of Google Apps
4. Roger's & Orange Dream ONLY: Corresponding latest version of the EBI1 kernel
Steps
It has been brought up that Clockwork Recovery struggles with this guide, so Amon_ra is v1.7.0 recommended. If you have CM or older recovery, upgrade to Amon_Ra first.
Please if you need to diverge from these steps for any reason start over from step 1 when you return.
1. Boot into Fastboot (Power on the phone holding the camera button) This will either show a screen with dancing androids or a "rainbow" splash. Here you will find the hboot/radio version:
* radio 1.x: You will need to upgrade this to a 2.x radio before running this process.. please upgrade and re-do this step (Ie. verify you see the updated radio in fastboot before continuing)
* radio 2.x: You may press MENU+SEND+END at the same time and proceed (unless hboot-1.33.2005 is installed; indicating you already have DangerSPL)
* radio 3.x: You may press MENU+SEND+END at the same time and proceed (unless hboot-1.33.2005 is installed; indicating you already have DangerSPL)
2. Copy DangerSPL, CyanogenMod 5/6, and the Google Apps (also the EBI1 kernel port if required) to the root of your SD card.
3. Reboot/Boot into your custom recovery by holding down the 'home' key before the G1 splash appears.
4. Make a Nandroid Backup (ext not required) (recommended for upgrading users, not required for freshly-rooted users)
5. Flash DangerSPL. It will install and then ask you to reboot to finish the installation
6. Reboot as prompted at the bottom of the screen. This will finish installing DangerSPL and reboot back into recovery so you can flash your ROM.
7. Once back into recovery Wipe Data/Factory Reset
8. Flash CyanogenMod 5/6 THEN the Google Apps (also the EBI1 kernel port if required); then reboot (Boot may take longer than normal)
9. Login to Android/Google as usual.
* Optional: Reboot to recovery, and issue a Nandroid Restore, then follow the regular instructions .
o This command will attempt to restore user data.
o Restoring will also restore your previous Firmware, so you have to follow the instructions to get 5.0.x again
o Note: If this causes undesired consequences (ie bootloops, FC's, etc) then run Fix Permissions/'Fix UID Mism

Lol i love that whole mix up.. to clear things up...
Death/Danger/Haykuro are all but one in the same, jus different ppl use the name
If you ever notice they are all the same hboot which is 1.3.00 or something like that.. and those three names require the same method, flash new radio then the SPL... so those are the same jus different name
There is only 3/4 SPL
Hard SPL
Engineer SPL
Death/Danger/Haykuro SPL
G1 original SPL

[Q] CM5 install prob- not booting into custom recovery?!

Hi,
I've owned and ROM'd two Android phones, but not a G1 and wanted to help out a friend to get her stock 1.6 G1 to CM5. We ran into problems which led me to not want to continue before they are sorted out. I looked for answers to this but couldn't find any, so please don't flame me if I overlooked any. I tried to go by the instructions in the CM wiki.
This is what we did:
- We installed ClockWorkMod Recovery through the ROM Manager app
- We rebooted into that recovery and via adb flashed AmonRA recovery
- we rebooted into the AmonRA recovery which worked (I *think* just regularly holding Home while powering on)
- we flashed the appropriate radio update for her US TMo G1
- the documentation said "phone will reboot during update". I think it did, but it seemed stuck on "formatting cache" in recovery.
- when holding Home on reboot after that, it did from there on NOT reboot into the custom recovery
- instead, it rebooted into what looks like "bootloader" mode on my Moto Milestone, a screen with a phone and an exclamation point. We could get into stock recovery with Alt-L, but I don't think that is what we wanted.
At this point, it seemed to not reliably boot into custom recovery, so I didn't want to continue the process. I assume I could have gone down the same of flashing a custom recovery, but I wasn't sure what would happen with/after installation of the DangerSPL if booting into recovery wouldn't work.
So - is the "booting into bootloader instead of recovery" a known issue? Am I too much of a noob on the G1 and did totally miss something? Could or should we proceed to the DangerSPL / CM5 installation with this going on?
Any help would be much appreciated!
W0nk0
Flashing a new recovery from CM5 or CM6 is not working well. Try flashing the recovery image / radio image / ... from fastboot and you should be fine.
Edit: I did not read well the first time. Now I notice, that you are still on stock SPL, sorry. But re-reading well I've got a question: Are you sure you flashed already successfully a new recovery? For me it seems you are still on a plain stock G1.
Sent from my Htcclay's Superfly G1 using XDA App
Thanks a lot for your help!
We _were_ on a custom recovery twice, after flashing it from ROM manager (Clockworkmod then) and on the AmonRA recovery after that. As the recoveries clearly had non-stock things like nandroid I'm quite positive.
The problem seems to be that they didn't "stick" - we flashed the radio ROM upgrade from Amonra recovery, but after a reboot with Home pressed landed in the exclamation point screen again (which seems to indicate stock recovery as you can get to that with Alt-L from there).
If fastboot is indeed the way to go, where do I get the drivers for the windows/pc side of it? The noob guide I found had no help there :/.
Thanks again,
W0nk0

Few things;
1) if you have the OEM system image, then, indeed, the recovery will be overwritten by the OEM recovery image upon reboot into the system.
2) You say that you've written a RADIO image.... ***WHAT*** radio image did you write? You should have written a radio with a version number that starts with a "2".
3) Have you written a new SPL? The SPL you should write is 1.33.2003. DO NOT install deathSPL, no matter how many RETARDS suggest it. There is ABSOLUTELY NO USE in it. 1.33.2003 is SAFE to install (unlike 1.33.2005), and the ONLY benefit of 1.33.2005 has been GREATLY EXCEEDED, making that "benefit" entirely pointless.
Note that with the stock SPL (0.95.0000), there IS NO FASTBOOT. 1.33.2003 has a very strong fastboot capable of writing ALL partitions, including the radio image. Fastboot is the safest way to write the radio and SPL, but prior to installing an SPL with a strong fastboot mode, obviously you can't use this feature.
Steps:
1) Reinstall custom recovery,
2) reboot into recovery and write 1.33.2003 SPL.
3) DO NOT let it boot into regular system prior to installing 1.33.2003 SPL, or it will overwrite that custom recovery.
4) After installing the good SPL, it would still overwrite the custom recovery by booting into the regular system, but by this time, you will have FASTBOOT, so it doesn't matter.
5) Now do what you want... but once you have a 2.x radio and 1.33.2003, do NOT write any other radio or SPL, and for F SAKES DO NOT RUN ANY NBH FILES EVER NO MATTER WHAT!!!

[Q] HardSPL(10.95.300) to 10.33.2003 ?

Hi all.
I have htc G1 with:
HardSPL - 10.95.3000
Radio -2.22.19.26I
PVT Board
I am running old SuperD 1.11 and I want to upgrade to newest version of android. Should I do an upgrade to 10.33.2003 and modify partitions with Firerat script or do an upgrade to DeathSPL ?
Is it safe ?
start here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831139
rom links here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079194
for now ignore the poll, play around with each rom and decide for yourself
best place to start is probably EzGinger, be sure to install gapps !
according to ur links and this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6510019&postcount=76
He only mentions a flashing from RC29 not from HardSPL. So should I do an downgrade first ?
I am a bit confused but if I think correctly I should:
1.Do an upgrade to 1.33.2003
Code:
== Installing 1.33.2003 from stock RC29** SPL: ==
> From RC29 telnetd to root as usual
> install ra recovery
> flash the spl_1_33_2003.zip
> reboot system when prompted
2.Do
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio-2.22.27.08.img
fastboot flash hboot hboot-1.33.0013d.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
(I dont need recovery flashing becouse I have it)
and
Code:
fastboot erase system -w
fastboot erase boot
3.Flash the new rom from recovery
4.Eventually flash the ezBiffTestKernel20110222-2708_S.zip
Is it correct ?

no need to downgrade, RC29 is just a baseline reference point
since you already have root, a custom recovery and a 2.x radio you can proceed directly to flashing the 1.33.2003 SPL
one you have 1.33.2003 SPL you will have full fastboot functionality
you could choose to stick with 1.33.2003 and use Firerat's cMTD with SPL Spoofing and keeping all of the fastboot goodness.
The 1.33.0013d SPL doesn't have full fastboot functions
BUT the extra 14mb ram is well worth it, you will just have to use recovery to flash new recoveries or if the worst come to pass and recovery is broken, you would need to downgrade the SPL using the Orange.nbh in Ezterry's post, fastboot a working recovery and redo the 2825 radio and 1.33.0013d again
Most, if not all, the current ROMs support the 1.33.0013d SPL and 2825 radio combo
and even if the ROM doesn't it is not too difficult to simply flash a compatible Kernel
And nothing to stop you using cMTD either
btw, go straight for the 2825 radio instead of radio-2.22.27.08.img
it is newer , just ignore what everyone says about US / EU and battery drain
Both Radios are Global, 2825 quickly replaced 2708 during roll out as a security update
and battery life is the same on 2825 and 2708
my choice would be to un-root first just so you dont mix anything up you forgot about..
first i would back up anything you want to keep including whats on your sd card so you can un partition it. all you need to do is re partition it and set swap as 0 and ext as 0.
now Just flash this update.zip in recovery first, than apply DREAIMG.nbh in fastboot mode.
DREAIMG.nbh http://www.4shared.com/file/9izdCbvo/DREAIMG.html
update.zip http://www.4shared.com/file/ePnmmoxA/update.html
simple as that! and you are back on 1.0 original stock firmware.
now update to 1.5 http://www.4shared.com/file/EyiKXmTd/update.html
now from here you root again.. download these files.
flashrec http://www.4shared.com/file/ABXfQQ1H/flashrec-113-20091107-2.html
radio http://www.4shared.com/file/jGTeRvfs/G1-radio-2_22_23_02.html
spl http://www.4shared.com/file/nJkB58Qf/Latest_G1_SPL.html
recovery http://www.4shared.com/file/zCVPjMUz/recovery-RA-dream-v170-cyan.html
place all the files on the root of your sd
now go on your phone download io file manager from the market, allow permissions and everything open the program and flash the flashrec file.
now press backup recovery let finish workin.. than type in the box
sdcard/recovery-RA-dream-v1.7.0-cyan.img
now press flash recovery let it work and your good! now power off device and reboot in recovery and do a wipe!
now you can flash the radio! do another wipe after reboot into recovery
and now flash the spl file! and now you should be able to flash tha Danger SPL
http://www.4shared.com/file/iYzhTaMc/spl-signed.html
just do same thing place on root of sd do a data wipe and flash that file and you will have danger spl and you can re partition your sd.. my prefference 128mb swap and 1024mb ext4
also you can now upgrade to newer radios like 2.22.28.25 just look arounf xda for the how to

then fastboot 2825 radio and 1.33.0013d SPL
then flash rom
no point messing about reverting to stock and putting yourself in a brick risk situation
that would be a completely stupid noob move
Thanks Effdee ! Everything works great
I flashed 1.33.0013d, newest radio and newest ezGinger . Everything worked smoothly and without errors.

[Q] Help flashing 1_33_2005_spl.zip into internal flash

Hi,
First post, so if I am out of line, I will take whatever heat you decide I deserve.
Background:
I am trying to get a newerish version of Android onto a Rogers Dream with radio 3.22.26.17 using the guides found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Rooting_HTC_Branded_EBI1_Dreams
Problem:
It all went very well until part D, step 4. I can boot into recovery, and can choose the "Flash zip from SD Card", and can see the zip file (1_33_2005_spl.zip), Now what? I have tried to reboot, but it doesn't seem to flash the 1_33_2005_spl.zip file. Is there a key combination that I need to press to have the file flash into the internal memory of the device? I have looked onto the recovery screen, and don't see any command key combination to have it flash. When I run the subseqent shell reboot bootloader command, the screen shows S-ON, HBOOT: 1.33.0010 RADIO: 3.22.26.17. I assume that this means that the 1_33_2005_spl.zip file has not been flashed.
Question:
How do I flash the 1_33_2005_spl.zip file into memory in the recovery mode? Or, what is the key combination to flash the 1_33_2005_spl.zip file into internal flash?

I don't have a Rogers EBI1, so I'll have to assume that this guide is already giving the safest method to update the SPL with their rooting method. (Flashing SPL or Radio from Recovery is a bit dangerous, see this thread on why.)
That said, it sounds like the part about "3. Choose 1_33_2005_spl.zip" you are missing is to press the trackball to select the file to install. After flashing the SPL, don't do any other task except reboot, exactly as it says. Once you have the Engineering SPL, it is safer to flash further SPL or Radio updates from fastboot mode.
Thanks, that did it. The guide doesn't really specify how to select and execute stuff, and not having any other devices with either RA recovery, or a trackball, it sort of confused me.
I now have root, and I have the 1.33.2005 SPL installed. I have tried installing some ROMs, but have not settled on anything yet. I'm sort of tending towards Ginger Yoshi 1.4, if I can ever get the 1.33.2010 SPL located (its required to install Ginger Yoshi 1.4). At the very least though, I know how to install .zip files from recovery, now.

Chances are you were searching for Dream SPLs to find 2010.
Here is the Magic SPL list, which also work on the Dream. The special 1.33.0013d SPL for extra memory is over here, if yoshi can use it.
For anyone else changing the SPL, I'd recommend reading (important enough to link to it again): CONFIRMED!! BRICKS: Radio and SPL + New SAFETY theory.
It is generally considered safer to flash the hboot (SPL) partition only from fastboot mode whenever possible, and only from recovery if you have a locked (i.e., "SHIP") SPL while rooting.

I bricked my G1. I can still access RA recovery, fastboot

Hey guys. I was following this thread word by word. I reached step 2 and completed it. I also checked to see if my device says:
Dream PVT 32b ENG S-off
HBOOT 1.33.2005 (drea10000)
CPLD-4
RADIO 2.22.23.02
APR 20, 2009, 15:30:43
It was exactly the same way. I also installed the radio first, then Spl, then Danger SPL .. so it seemed everything was fine. After I flashed the Danger SPL, I went to start my phone so I can transfer the files from step 3, but my phone is stuck on the Tmobile Screen. Any ideas what went wrong and how can I fix it? I have an SD card reader so I can put files on it etc... Please advice on what to do. Thanks!
i just answered your question in the developers thread, but here is a better place for questions.
you arent bricked, just flash a rom and your good. when you can boot into recovery and or fastboot there is no issue, not even a softbrick really. so download a rom, your radio/spl would work well with super e. to do that download the rom and the gapps onto the root of your sd card, then via recovery scroll down to "flash zip from sd card" flash the rom first and the gapps next. when done reboot the phone, wait 5-10min and your done! easy!
So i don`t have to update to the 2.22.28.25/1.33.0013d to flash the newest ROMs? I would like to have the 2.22.28.25Radio and SPL 1.33.0013d . Can I just flash them after I install the rom? or can I install them now even though I cannot go through the T-Mobile screen?
yes you can change to the latest radio and spl, in fact i would recommend it, then flash a rom over that. id recommend froyobylaszlo or ezgingerbread. but there are other good roms out there, these just happen to be my favorites.

Yeah, you have to install them from fastboot
It's totally fine that you can't get past the T-Mobile screen
That's supposed to happen
After you install the spl/radio flash froyobylaszlo (like demkantor said)
And by the way if you go into recovery (home+power), and click "usb-ms" it'll connect to the computer so you can transfer stuff to the sd card
