[HELP REQUEST] Cyanogenmods - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have this serious issue. When I install cyanogenmod I get full speed HSPA+ (3mbp/s). Once I reboot the speeds drop dramatically to less than 600kb/sec. If I do wipe in the settings menu and reboot the speeds are back up to 3mb/sec. Once I reboot again the speeds drop back down to less than 600kb/sec again.
With FRF91 vanilla I have 3mbp/s consistently. However if I do the nandroid backup to FRF91 without doing a wipe first my speeds are also stuck at 600kb/sec.
What happens when CM reboots that it destroys my speeds?
I'm on T-mobile's HSPA+ network here in Florida...I can't be the ONLY one that is experiencing this.
This has occured with all of cyanogen builds to some extent, even 5.0.8.

3G connectivity issues. All ROMs

For quite some time now, my phone has been having some terrible 3G connectivity issues.
It just drops from HDSPA to UMTS and gives me no data for chunks of time. And every now and then, the entire 3G turns off(as if the APN has been switched).
This has been occurring with MIUI 2.2, MIUI 2.3, CM6 and CM7.
Im using 5.12.00.08 radio (latest i think). Im unsure what HBOOT I'm running, but the full baseband version is "32.50.99.32U_5.12.00.08". So i think I'm running HBOOT 32 but im not sure. With the CM and MIUI roms the problem was occurring on stock kernels and monk's.
Any ideas on what could be causing the issues? If you would like me to send logcats i can(i haven't seen anything in there to indicate any issues)...
Also i found a post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=931728
Not sure if thats related.
Seemingly the problem started occouring after i was using alot with WiFi Tethering with Wireless Tether by Lemons and co.
I'm using Virgin Mobile AU as carrier.
Also, the problems occurs before installing ANY apps as well(and afterwards obviously).
32.50.99.32U_5.12.00.08
mine is only 32.50.00.32U... IMO just try flashing a new radio, start with 5.08 instead of 5.12 and see if that works then if you are content then leave it... else flash 5.12 after and try to root out the problem...
cheers!
The default setting in nexus one is WCDMA preferred... i.e. it connects to 3G if available.
If the signal strength of the 3G network is lower than than 2G network,
it switches to 2G rather than connecting via 3G.
However, Its a known limitation that Nexus one 3G reception is comparatively less due to physical properties of the antenna.

[Q] 3G on Droid 3 in the UK

Until recently, I'd been using a Milestone running CyanogenMod 7.2 RC1 which worked flawlessly on Giffgaff in the UK. My Speedtest results ranged between 100-150 ms for ping and 0.5-3.5 Mbps for download speed. The status bar always showed 3-4 bars out of 4 possible while the signal was regularly recorded between [-100] - [-85] dB. In short, my data connection was stable.
After a few month contemplating, I finally got an unlocked Droid 3. I went ahead to root it and install Steed Droid 4.5 on it. Even though the Speedtest results are pretty much the same, I felt that my data connection is more sluggish than before. The signal ranged between [-115] - [-100] dB; there were only 1-3 bars out of 5 possible on the notification bar and the connection was randomly cut off. These setbacks happened even after I applied a few tweaks to build.prop.
And I came across this thread, I decided to give it and followed RWALEY's instruction to flash a XT862 5.6.890 ROM using the newest baseband from XT883. Then I installed Steel Droid 4.5 and applied the GSM fix from the instruction above. Unfortunately, the modification doesn't any noticeable improvement.
Sorry for my rants but I want to ask you guys here if this mode gives you full signal bar and strong and connection in the US? For any user outside the US, do you see any improvement from this modification?
Cheers.

Lte speeds

I have been testing my lte speeds with OOKLA and been getting 4.56Mbps max download and 3.07Mbps max uploads when my Lte spark icon is shown. When im in 3g it never goes over 1.0mbps. Is any one else having same problems
Your results depend on a lot, starting with location. Also, don't be surprised that speeds a really getting slightly lower over time. More people are upgrading to new phones, which means that more people are using the LTE networks (whether Spark or regular LTE).
Lastly, a clean flash of a stock rooted rom always helps if you are trying to find a baseline for comparison.

[ROM] CM Snapshots - Targa

I only use CM Snapshots, and I wanted a CM snapshot-only thread for the BIONIC.
M7 was an awful ROM and that is why I couldn't wait for M8. I like M8, but it does have some issues. Here are some of the more annoying bugs:
- "No APN specified" error
- LTE connection is poor
I'm getting 3G in areas that I know have LTE. I'm not sure why.
Make sure its on global and sim/ruim.

I've been on global and NV maybe that's part of my problem with the constantly getting orange bars. I'm getting it like crazy all week on all kk Roms because I'm in Chicago this week. I'm ready to go back to 4.2.2 and stay.
I've been on the m9 snapshot since it was released. I'm still noticing a poor connection. It doesn't get 4GLTE in an area where it use to have a solid 4GLTE connection. There are areas where I have no connection at all. However, these are the same areas where I use to have a solid connection.
I've tried Global and LTE in the settings. I've tried NV and SIM, but I still can't get the good connection.
My other verizon phone gets a solid 4GLTE.
I've tried full wipes and fresh installs.
I may try another ROM that isn't CM based if I can't get this figured out. Anyone else having connection issues with the latest M9 snapshot?

I've had nothing but problems with kk roms connecting. I might have figured it out but I have to run it for a few days to make sure. I backed up my apn data from stock and restored it into liquid. So far no orange bars. We'll see how tomorrow goes.
Update: with the apn restored from stock I've been able to avoid any of the data issues I had before. I gave a brief description on the slim thread too but it definitely helped me.
I'm still having the APN issues and data drops on the M9 snapshot. Can the APN issue be fixed, or is an APN restore required?

I've been doing the apn procedure every time I switch roms. I don't notice near as many problems so I've just stuck with it.
I've been running M10 since it was released and I've had zero APN issues, and that's without doing the APN restore method. (knock on wood)
YouTube use to give me connection issues all the time. Almost with every video. I haven't experienced one connection issue with YouTube.
This release has been running great for me. I'll post additional comments if/when I run into any issues.
Thanks CM!

Improved Data Speed on 5.1..1 or is the Network Faster?

I have the G920T unlocked and rooted on Android 5.1.1 - Battery life since getting the latest update and rooting has been awesome.
I have also seen a huge improvement in data speeds - I am on the ATT Network - TMOBILE in my area was very very poor for me anyway - I can't even get phone calls inside my home and at work - on TMOBILE -(without WIFI Calling) and data sppeds on LTE was very slow - that is why I moved to ATT. (In my mind there is somehting inherrently wrong when phone call service can only be accomplished when you connect to a wifi nework. I personally think that is why TMOBILE started WiFi callling - to make up for poor signal issues....anyway
Data Speeds for me have always been good on aTT - but Friday on my way to work, I did a few spot checks and was amazed to be getting betweeen 36MB and 48MB Download speeds and 18MB to 24MB upload speeds on ATT LTE. COnsistently -
This is much higher than I have ever had before - normally, I used to get 15MB to 20MB download speeds - respectable but now it is nearly double.
In my house, I used to get up to 10-12MB download - but when I checked this morning it was RUNNING closer to 25.
Bottom line to all this - I am curious if any one else has noticed a significant increase in data speeds - on either TMOBILE or ATT ? Is it possible that the new Modem with 5.1.1 could have caused this kind of improvement in data speeds or is it more likely network related?
On T-Mobile getting 75mb down & 30 up. Love T-Mobile, keep AT&T.

Another thing I've noticed is they finally fixed the force close us edge users use to get for some themes when we would try to access the edge settings....
