3g/4 bars task-bar icons - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all i was wondering if anybody could post the link or file so i can get my phone to show 3g instead of evo and have four bars of signal instead of six... thank you...

You'll have to read this thread to learn how to do it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725660
All it is is renaming the files so your phone reads the 3G icons instead of the EvDo. Same with the 6 bars to 4 bars, but it's slightly more complicated since you're fitting 7 images (0-6) into 5 (0-4).
Or if you use metamorph there is a post in there with an attached theme to do it for you.

trying it out now... thank you so much.....will let you know if it works

nope.. im still new..

Did you read posts 9 and 16? 16 in particular listed every step you should follow to get it working.

sorry... is there any other way or is this the only way....

ok..... so i got it via meta morph... i got the 3g and it shows 5 bars... ill take it....yo thank you for your help.... 5 stars for you...

No prob, glad to give back to the community

[METAMORPH] - 3G Round Signal Icon

Found this while surfing over on the Droid forums - searched here and didn't see it, so i'm posting it myself.
ALL CREDIT GOES TO THE ORIGINAL CREATOR! I did not make this, nor do i take any credit myself. I just am cross-posting it here.
Installed just fine on my Galaxy S - note that i have the Bell Vibrant version. Your mileage may vary. The screenshots are from the original thread.

Works good on my HD2 froyostone series V1.
Excellent !
I like this icon but is there a white one or are there some easy steps to editing the icon to be white?

I was trying to create something like this, awesome, will have to try it on my Fascinate! Thanks!
I tried this on my Droid Incredible running Sky Raider 3.3 and no luck. Anyone know how I might get ti to work?
Just tried it On my Captivate running Cog Beta 8 with Froyo and it was a no go.
Giving me some good ideas for the signal bars on the Vibrant!
Got it to work on my Fascinate after a few days of digging. Finally made copy's of the 5 image files and added the zz_ prefix on the file name and presto, works like a charm! Thanks for making this, I absolutely love it!
Here is a screenshot of it in action!
didnt work on my hero running cm6
Didn't work for my Droid Eris.

Nice, this will give us something to do till we get the real deal: -)
Only thing I'm not fond of is the circle battery, I've never liked the look of them compared to a standard style battery meter.
I know I'm in the minority here, but maybe 2 versions with different battery meters?
Looks good so far though.
Awesome z Thanks... Vegantab has been getting all the theming love... Happy the TNT ers can now get in on things!
Looking really good. May have to try it with adw to get the same number of rows and columns as the xoom.

Edit-Ok guys it's been hell around here and haven't had alot of time between this and the boot animations.I've been tring to add some more or the Xoom look to the theme, starting with the Circle battery it's been replaced with the one from Xoom and the Larger wifi icon is being made now to match the theme (green out blue in ) also need to change the home buttons+back+menu button.i'll be tring to get this up tonight. This release will have the clock in it so look for it. Also can i get an admin to inform me if i can add Swype to this theme it's on mine (can't live without it)? Thanks guys keep an eye on the OP it's going to change.

Looks really good, I am working on something similar. Makes me happy for more themes . The TNT framework has a lot more then most frameworks, maybe work together? PM me.
I have this so far:
No pics sorry, but it has some white text on the drop-downs working on getting the rest. Toasts, pop-ups, and drop-downs have honey border, and.... I think the battery and wifi drop-down match the transparent blue stuff, the battery was annoying.
I need to do the home screen icons, add more white text in the drop-down, and I wanted to reorder the buttons in the bar, also make the drop-down shadows less transparent....
popups
10char
Thanks to both of you... I'll be pulling this when I get I the office this morning to play. Looking forward to it!
(edit) just read the fine print... Question, will it work on the non-meat eaters? (vegaN)
...sent from my ' un-stock' vibrant
thanks if you like it so far You like it even more when we are done with it. As far as the Vegan goes no there is alot different in the Framework that tnt uses sorry.
How about cyanogen? Can I use it on7?
Ok just so i don't have to keep replying this is for TNT roms, It was made for the TTX rom but will most likly work on the TNTL and roms like it. It is too diferent from Vegan and CM7 sorry.
Hey kicker, pm sent ur way
Anymore updates on this project? Everything is looking great. I'm running the latest TnT Lite and will be testing this out shortly.
+1 I am def looking forward to this!
Looks sweet. Thanks.

i mean tutorials are the way a lot of us got going, or really got into it
basically though, just start by using 7zip to take apart the frameworks from another theme and look through the drawable-hdpi or hdpi-4 folders and see the changed images
its a lot to take in though really...not something that can be picked up in a week or something...but dont get discouraged

i don't think you understand the concept of a tutorial
to bo honest i dont think i do...thats why im trying to learn
You really just have to jump in. I use winrar instead of 7zip . But to start, open up a theme that already works for the fascinate ...and just look at the folder tree and understand where everything is ... after that, Start replacing images. XML editing is going to take a tutorial, but there is a lot you can do before you take that step. It takes time ... and patience. Pretty much just jump in .you have an advantage being that this phone is so easy to recover if something goes wrong. It is addictive though ... be warned. The theme I'm working on has consumed my life almost haha.

The point of a tutorial is to show you what to do. So you should give them a shot instead of writing them off.
i did...i read like three to four tutorials but they all start in diff areas of stuff and it just gets to confusing...im trying though...im not just writing it off...i really am

while i *should* update my tutorial to include more of the basic stuff, the reason most of it focuses on the more advanced xml/.9 things is because in december/january that seemed to be the most pressing issue for many.
i was getting dozens of pms a day on androidforums/xda/irc with many of the same questions, and while i was trying to be helpful and respond it was getting to be a bit overwhelming....so i figured id answer the most commonly asked things first and work back from there...but then dl30 dropped, then eb01 and i got tied up by porting the themes/ports i maintained.
now that im working on more detailed themes that takes up most of my android time...but ill see what i can do about updating the tutorial
Thank u man...sorry for being such a noon :/

So is it really hard to combine elements from different themes to make a new theme? There are several different ones that I love parts of, but I would like to be able to pick and choose and piece one together...
Like for instance, I like somebody the dark themes, but I don't always like plain toggle buttons, and I love the stock gingerbread statusbar with the little vertical battery meter that has the percent in it.... some themes I did the transparent pull down, etc....
I'd like to be able to mix n match
How hard is it to do that?

[Q] Chance LTE icon to 4G icon

I would love to do this like you can via xposed on Kitkat.. Many feature packed KK roms is able to do this..
Is it easy to do or?
I really dislike the LTE icon ?
All help is extremely appreciated..
Just change the image in systemui apk. Not difficult to do at all.

Isn't 4G the same as H+ and H is 3G so LTE would be LTE of I'm not mistaken. I'm sure this could be changed easily if you know where to find the time and edit it.

H+ is advertised as 4G but its really 3.5G, its just all weird marketing terms. It is easily changed its in /res/xxhdpi, find _lte and replace it with the one with _4g. Easy to do.

I see, my H+ speeds are generally 20-30mb/s so that's not bad at all but not 4G thank you for clarifying that. Can you change it via a root explorer or do you need to pull apart the whole settingsUI?

Would you mind explaining? Can't find it..
You could create a ZipThemer theme for it if you had the images. Not difficult.
Interestingly my phone displays 4g resources, not LTE.

Don't know how do that..
Mine does show 4G on stock and on some of the custom roms, but not all and since this is the xda forum I thought someone would know how to do this and would be kind enough to tell me
A zipthemer theme replaces resources in your ROM & creates a flashable theme that you install from recovery. Its not difficult to create the theme & I may have time to make it for you in the next day or so.
I would need a copy of your SystemUI.apk though, for the image names.
EDIT: Sorry, actually this won't work, because the icons are in .xml now, not images. If it was images it would be easy.

No, then it would give a error because its trying to find a LTE XML file and its not there.
You're better off just leaving it, its just cosmetics. Not that big of a deal than to go through the hassle.
I'd go look and find it for you but thats only for that particular set up that its not worth it.
