I'm using apps2sd, but I looked under settings for SD and storage, and found that I only have 21MBs free on my phone (not the card).
I was wondering why that's the case, and found that my /system/xbin folder itself is a whopping 127mbs huge!
Does anyone know if this is normal? I'm on the IC3ROM v2.7.
What are others' sizes for this xbin folder?
(I used estrong file explorer to look it up - long pressed the xbin folder, and selected 'details')
I do have busybox installed - is busybox really this huge?
thanks.

I am using Vilrod's senseTattoo build using No-RootFs nbh from DZO.
I noticed that all the system apps are not available in their usual place at
Code:
/system/app
Whereas, these system apps are being copied and stored at
Code:
/data/app_s
and there is just a script file at
Code:
/system/app
which directs installation of system apps to /data/app_s folder.
Now I have around 14mb of space on /system partition but since all apps are being installed to
Code:
/data/app
or
Code:
/data/app_s
, I can not use this space, even after doing androidupdate.tar to install to /system/app
Any suggestions as far as how I can use this 14 mb space on /system partition?
for ringtones?
Seriously though you really can't really.
I am not really looking for this space for putting ringtones.
I usually copy apps with least frequent updates (such as Google Maps, NYTimes, Reuters News) in the /system/app folder to maximize space utilization.
Does this mean there has to be a change on how build is created?
It's one of the most smoothest HTC build I have used.
I have used the Terminal Emulator and the command busybox mount -o remount,rw /system, and with that I can copy files to System/App directory (I thought it was system/Apps, but there is no s in sight). For some strange reason when I use Root Explorer it says that the file is copied, but it isn't. With ES File Explorer I can copy the files there though. Next step should be to choose the keyboard in the Nook Color Tools, but it doesn't show up. I deleted the original LatinIME.apk and replaced it with a scandinavian keyboard, but it still doesn't show up. Now I only see the Gingerbread keyboard. Can anybodyt please tell me what I'm doing wrong here?
If you are trying to install the SuperCharger script and can't find a busybox installation equal to or less than 1.18.2 please find attached 1.17.1. You can install with a simple xcopy deployment on top of an existing busybox install. More than likely busybox installed to /system/xbin but you should check first. You can use an app like Root Checker to find the real location. After you have identified where it is installed simply remount the file system as r/w and copy the attached file over the busybox installation you found. I used the app Root Explorer to remount the file system r/w and copy of my busybox install.
Update: I could not attach the file as it was not of an acceptable file ext so here is a link:
jayflowers.com/Misc%20Downloads/busybox
Update: I forgot to mention that you need to make sure that you set execute permissions on the busybox binary after you copy it over...
From beta3 I can't delete symlink. It's important for me because I actually using phone instead of flashing.
I tried->
1.root explorer
-> delete /data/data
-> copy /datadata ->/data
-> change name to /data/data
No effect, after reboot symlink restore
2. Same thing but with terminal
3. serch fstab, init, for script that making ln -s
4. delte from xbin ln program
nothing made any effect. Symlink always back after reboot.
I found at /sbin script setupdata....
But I can't delete/change it, every reboot it's restoring itself.
Sorry, I don't have an answer for you, but I really need this too. I didn't even install that many apps and everything is FC'ing because datadata is full. It seems it's not just app data as well, because I was browsing the folder with root explorer, and every time I clicked on a folder (within datadata), the available space went down some more. On CM7 my phone was fast enough without the symlink, so an option to remove it would be nice.
I've updated my device today to 6.0.1 and rooted, however I can't seem to change the boot animation (yes, I have searched for answers and tried quite a few fixes).
Root Explorer tells me I have renamed the old file and copied the new file, however once I leave the directory and go back the old file is still there.
I have used the file explorer in TWRP and managed to delete the stock boot animation, but get a FAILED message when I try to copy the new file.
I used the terminal in TWRP and tried to copy the file manually, and receive a "No space left on device" message.
I've also tried mounting the /system as rw in adb. I can delete the bootanimation.zip file from there, and df -h shows 3mb free. Shouldn't the system partition have more space available than that?
Am I missing something, or has something changed with the new android versions?
Google has filled the system partition up to the brim. Also you can't remount system as rw while Android is running.
But the direction is right, go to TWRP, mount system, delete the old bootanimation. If the new one is not that much bigger then you could just copy it there, set permissions to rw-r--r--. But if the new animation is significantly bigger, you'll have to delete some bloatware first.
Thanks for that. The odd thing is, when I run DF in the terminal, it shows I have 20mb free. The boot animation file I am trying to copy is 6mb.
I'll keep poking around. If it doesn't work, it doesn't. It's not hugely important
