Partitioning SDCARD - Legend Android Development

Hey guys, i need some help here.
I have no idea that partitioning sdcard would wipe everything out. i just partitioned and lost all my data on my sdcard. there are some very important backupfiles and contacts and photos in my sdcard. Is there anyway i could retrive those information?
Anyhelp would be appreciated.THANKS in advance

If you have not copied anything to the card yet .. there is..
You have to gain access to card in Windows.. Use a program called "Get Data Back" (google it) I have used it several times to recover from harddisk... should be able to recover from a SD-drive as well... Best uf luck..

[Q] how to view internal memory on windows?

I have a program on windows that can recover deleted pictures from any drive. I think I had some pictures on my internal memory that I want to try to recover. How can I mount the internal memory as a drive on windows? I am s-off and have clockwork mod.
It would be easier to backup 'User data ' , re flash the rom you lost data from and restore user data, than to recover some lost data from internal memory unless u have a pre existing backup IMO ...
EDIT: everything you download form the net, take pics from cam etc etc are stored on external memory... ie SD card ... just fyi

not sure what you mean about user data. I had pics on a memory card I wanted to move to another memory card, so i saved it to internal memory card.
Ic .. okay .. could you specify how exactly u moved it to internal memory and the location ?

i used ez file explorer with root permission. I moved it to /data or /.data not sure. Then I deleted it thinking I had moved it back to another sd card.
still looking for an answer to this :/
I see that clockworkmod lets you mount usb storage and you can see it on the pc. it also lets you mount /data..but you can't see it on the PC. Anyone know how I can contact the clokworkmod developer? I want to ask him if its possible to add the functionality i want.

Hi, if I understood you right, you can use MyphoneExplorer program to view the phone memory on Windows machine. Hope it helps you.
I guess My Phone Explorer can do the job for you.

[Q] How to backup my data before formatting my SD card?

Hey Guys. I have a rooted Nexus One running CyanogenMod 7.2.0-RC0-N1-KANG. Sometime back I had my SD card connected to my PC via a memory card reader. I was deleting a video file but while the file was being deleted, my SD card got unmounted. I have no idea as to what happened but now it looks like I have considerable part of that space lost.
I did scan my SD card using Windows disk check but it found no errors. Now I am thinking of formatting my SD card. I have a 1 GB EXT3 partitioned 16 GB Sandisk SD card. Most of my apps are installed on the SD card. Which is the best way to format my SD card? Also I do have Rom Manager & Titanium Backup installed. How can I ensure that I back up all my data and do an easy restore? Alternately is there any way I can recover the lost space without formatting?
Any help will be greatly appreciated
there are some programs out there to retrieve lost disk data--i have not used any but a search may help
i bu all sdcard to pc then reformat with sdformatter with full erase and size adj ON, then repartition inside phone--0 swap
nandroid first
Thanks for replying rugmankc. Do you have a direct link to sdformatter? Also do you use rom manager for the partitioning? In case if I do backup my entire rom and then format my sd card, can I simply restore everything by loading up the backup? Can you give me some simple step by step procedure of backup & format? Thanks again for your help.
Sd formatter: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/eula_windows
Nandroid backup
Backup to pc
Format sd card
Create partition (either wid pc or in recovery)
Copyback to sd card
PS: hv read ppl complaining abt rom manager aka cwm creating bad partitions.

Hey n1newbie. Thanks a lot for your reply. Sorry for being noobish but which is the best way to make a Nandroid backup and how can I partition with PC and recovery? Also once I copy back the backup on to my sd card, how do I restore the backup?
sorry for my late reply--nite here
i use this one--but shouldn't matter--just make sure you use full erase on and size adj on--you want complete format, not partial as phone does
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/28338566/SDFormatter 2.0.mht
the steps n1newbie gave you are good ones
i use amonra so don't know cwr steps
the partition steps are done inside phone for me, as i mentioned, thru recovery and should be straight forward, including steps to bu and restore
there is no best way to nandroid an that term/folder won't be seen in cwr, just cw backups. the options should all be there in cw or rom mgr, including restore
i bu sdcard regularly and titanium too
Hi y2jamit, its a pleasure to help u
Choosing recovery is ur preference (clockworkmod,amonra,4ext)
As rugmankc said, Making a nandroid backup and restoring is done via recovery mode and is jus straight forward. Remember to use the same recovery for safer side
To format in PC try any partition tools (mini tool parition wizard )

rugmankc & n1newbie, I really appreciate your help guys. Thank for making this so much more easier. I guess I now have the confidence to take the plunge
good luck
just read a lot on whatever you do so you have a good idea on it and then you can ask specific questions on the process--
ICS is still alpha so fairly unstable for a lot

[Q] Help with EXT partition and recovering data

I'll try to make the story short:
Had CM 7.2, Used S2E and by accident also transfered all data to SD-EXT3.
After a week or so, Problems finding apps, missing widgets and eventually nothing... the phone is like after a wipe.
I used miniTool and it finds the ext but I can't browse it.
There are very important files and pic in that EXT partition.
Question:
Is there any way I will be able to browse the folders that used to be on the EXT partition and copy some of the content?
Thanks a lot, it's realy important to me.

I had used the S2E before but didn't like it. I think there is an option in S2E that you can check to have the data transfer back to internal. Or uninstall the S2E app and reboot, the data will be back to where it was.
Thanks but it's not working...
I tried that before I posted the thread.
First - S2E didn't let me to transfer back.
2nd - The app was uninstalled but it didn't help.
Now I'm only trying to find a way to see the content of the EXT3 partition on my computer in order to save important files.
Any ideas...?
Thank in advance,
MG.
hi, i think u'll get the info that u need in this page
http://www.howtoforge.com/access-linux-partitions-from-windows

video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRftHZTWnWA&feature=watch_response
Well...
I tried "DiskInternals" but when I click the Ext-SD I don't see any files and the window says:
"There are no recoverable files in this folder".
Does it mean that my Ext3 partition is damaged?

Certainly He can recover them!
Use a cardreader and an app like data recovery professional
then select "formatted recovery " type and it'll bring them back (don't use sdcard till recovery finishes, using it will wipe old files)

RecoveryFix for Windows Data Recovery Software has been developed to fullfill the needs of recovering the database from hard drive. Its easy to use for users who lose their valuable data to any system error like unexpected system shutdown, software malfunction, file or directory deletion.
u can try Get data back ..click here
I just formatted my Seagate 500 GB full of software and i can get all my data back completely
Guys, keep in mind that he did not only format the card, but repartition it with new sizes. Not only that, the partitioning involved two different file systems: fat32 and ext3/4.
And he hasn't responded back...
Thank you everybody, I sent my phone, i recovered any of my data. THX
