ok so I rooted my android phone a few months ago and just left it at at the stock img with root access. i didnt do a back up because i wasnt planing on flashing a different rom. when the FRF91 update came out i manualy updated it. after that i lost all root access. i then followed this guide to get it back to EPE76
XDA FORUMS /showthread.php?t=636795.
after this i lost all root access. my fastboot screen showed that i was unlocked. i tried to re root it following this guide (how i rooted the first time)
YOUTUBE./watch?v=RyOO460xNHM.
i followed the exact steps i did before but the superboot didnt work. ive tried to get it to a version but i cant manualy update because it says the update isnt found. or there is an error in the file. did i mess up the rooting or is it something else? can anyone tell me if i can fix this someway???

Im new here. Sorry if this is a newb topic but i have no clue what to do now. I'd even be fine with just going back to the latest unrooted version right now because im stuck on rc29.
I originally had CRC1. I'm having trouble on one of the last steps of getting root. I used this guide http://androidandme.com/2009/05/guid...stall-cupcake/ . I am on i think step 3 and everything else has went well. I'm back to RC29, but when i go to upgrade radio image it says either cant find file or bad file after i have copied it to sd card and renamed it update.zip. Can someone please give specific steps on how to get this working? If for some reason I can't get root can i get back to the original OS CRC1 that i had easily? Please help. Thanks.
There is no reason to start a new thread dude. There is a whole thread on all these questions.

Answer: yes if you're not rooted you should receive the OTAs and get back to CRC1 soon
Please search next time and post in correct forum (Q&A)
sorry about that. I've tried searching and trying different things. Will I still get OTA update to RC33 even If its not letting me manually look for an update in settings/about phone? sorry for the noob questions. Thanks.
It will automaticlly upgrade over night, redownload the radio image and try with a new one
If you are using windows, it hides the file ext so you only need to. Rename it update not update.zip
Sorry if there is already a thread on this, I looked and couldnt find one....my phone was rooted and i followed step by step directions on here to get the 2.2 update and everything worked great...then i opened up my apps to find out my superuser is gone....went to the market and downloaded rom manager and it says i dont have root access. Sorry to bother you guys i know your busy, but if anyone can help i would really appreciate it!
You need to root your phone again. Any time you flash it won't be rooted unless you install a rom that has it packaged in.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Ive tried to root again and every time I try it says..."Error cant find signature" or something to that effect
You need to do a little more research Watcher. I'll explain it to you.
Froyo uses 3e recovery. Eclair uses 2e recovery. What does that mean you ask? You can't use the update.zip method to root your phone anymore. You need to go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682 It will make the process nice and easy for you.
thanks man, worked like a charm...when i went to install 3rd party apps at the end it says failed cant find sqlite3....any suggestions?
Its a more involved process for you. You need to find the original thread for rooting 2.2 via adb and push it onto the phone. Download the attachment and follow the directions for pushing it onto the phone, changing permissions and so forth. If I was at the computer I could give you the link.

Hi everyone.
I have an Optimus 2x, and when i updated it to 2.3.4 i could not use superoneclick to root my phone instead i found an answer on how to root it.
I needed to install cwm 5 and after that busybox and so on, and it worked, it was rooted.
Now i have a other problem, i have an update on my phone and when i click on installing it starts to reebot then it comes to cwm screen, there i'm stuck.
I have tryed everything there trying to update it but nothing works.
So now i am wondering if any of you can help me?
Got any idea what i can do to update or what i am doing wrong?
//Szander.
Ok, so now i did a recover so i get back my phone as it was before i installed cwm and tryed to update, it did work fine.
Until the update was done, then it stopped, and nothing i did worked the little android just stand there and looked at me.
So what now, i removed the battery and hoped for the best, now the phone would not bot at all.
After a few tears and a few swear words, i thougt about something, maybe i could use nvflash to get it all back as it was ???
I tryed closed my eyes and after a few minutes i could restart my phone and it loaded as useall, but the update was gone, ofcourse.
So now back to square one again.
Sigh (
Hi Szander,
So just to be completely clear, you're back at a perfectly stock 2.3.4 unrooted ROM and you want to root it, right?
Why not trying to follow cyanogen wiki to root it?

No.
I have cwm, and its still rooted.
What i want is to get rid of cwm so i can update to the latest update wich is v20q.
I have tryed this with recover but its only working on froyo, i belive i read it somewhere.
And when i recovered my phone then the problem really started, but thats fine now.
And as an plus is that now when i run LGMobileupdate tool its saying that i have v20q but in the phone it says that i still have v20I.
Weird.
I have read alittle more and (if i got it right) found out that i might just need to use smartflash on the phone via my computer to get rid of cwm and get a perfectly stocked phone again.
So can you help me please, hoping that you understand my problem.
Yup, as far as I know you are correct. To get your phone back to stock you need to flash a stock ROM using either smartflash or nvflash. I haven't done it so I can't guide you through it personally, but search this forum you should find the relevant threads easily enough.
If you have trouble finding it let me know I'll help you searching.
EDIT: By the way, thanks for Meshuggah, one of the best bands ever I should visit Sweden sometime
Many non Noobies seem to be running across the same problems with rooting ZV8 updates. The answers are spread across three different threads so it seemed worth putting them all in one place up front.
First, big thanks MT for putting all this up so quickly.
If you are still on ZV7, first try
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566729
However, I and many others have not been able to get an over the air update (step 6) to succeed and/or get a lot of permission denied errors in the All in One batch processes. If you can't get an OTA update to succeed first try

If the OTA update works, you're good, continue with MT's instructions, but SKIP OPTION 1 "Prepare for Update"
If, like me and many others you still can't get an OTA update to succeed Alternative 2 is the LGPST method here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1466655
Again, the key is to not loose Clockwork Recovery. As long as you have done the create local.prop step and not done the All in One Option 1 "Prepare for Update" The LGPST ZV8 push will not erase Clockwork Recovery. Then you have ZV8 with Clockwork Recovery and you can get MT"s Broken Out v 1.1 here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1577423
Or get back to a nandroid backup or rooted ZV7 to start over
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348637
If you loose Clockwork Recovery or otherwise run into trouble, the sure fire way to get back on track is to go back to ZV7 and start over. Personally, reading through all the forums and despite several attempts, I was never able to get an All in One batch process to root ZV8, always permissions denied. But I was just trying to ZV8 with Clockwork Recovery to get to Broken Out anyway.
UPDATE 4/3/12
Another option for regaining CWM if you use LGPST

MT is looking for ZV7 testers for an easy update

I'm more than a Noob, but far from an expert, so if this contains errors or doesn't deserve it's own thread, feel free to suggest removal!

Appears that you DO lose CWM with LGNPST. I just tried your method and I no longer had CWM. Maybe you missed a step in the OP? Otherwise, I lost CWM when I pushed ZV8 TOT. Also, just so you know, I did check/test CWM just prior to pushing and it worked just fine.

EDIT: I wanted to clarify and emphasize "Appears" in my reply above. Your method may work perfectly fine, but I had nothing but troubles getting things to work...
is this a bad place to ask how im supposed to go back to zv7? i dont have cwm anymore....

yes am back to zv7 now trying to figure out how to do the all in one update steps from mt. it seems in the "prepare for update" steps it fails on copying local.prop or whatev its called.

That is the same problem I had. Try the copy local.prop option described above and bypassing the prepare for update.
better yet, contact MT, he is working on an easy solution and needs ZV7 testers

what if I am on zv6 still?
Son's Revo asked bout v8 OTA today. Didn't want to do it as I figured it would lose root. Currently we are on v6 and rooted (via AIO). Never went to v7, and now with v8 am trying to figure out how to get to v8 and keep root.
Do I need to get to v7 first prior to trying to get to v8 while keeping root or is there a way to go directly to v8 while maintaining root?
I posted in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25188375#post25188375 about trying to get to stock v7 not working for some reason so won't go into that here, but thought I would ask about a way to get to v8 with root WITHOUT having to go to v7 first.
I have a solid nandroid (which I just had to use to get a working phone again) I can use so don't mind testing things.
Thanks for any ideas...
***EDIT***
I went ahead and went to stock v7, rooted, and followed the v7 to v8 (save root) process MT created and all is well.
After updating my new Optimus 4X to 2.1 by waiting on LG's official update it seems slow and hangs when coming back to the homescreen so since people here said they have no issues on CM 10.1 I attempted to read up on how to do it all but got lost amongst all the sticky threads and various downloads etc to try and find a reasonably easy way to update to android 4.2.
Is there a more simple way to do everything I need to follow to have my phone from the current 2.1 latest LG update to CM 10.1 with 4.2 such as a single step by step thread in plain english that even new users could follow or view in a video? (I have previously updated a Sony x10 via similar methods but can't fully remember everything)
Threads/Sites I looked at that left me a little confused included:
Root method for v20a (and probably later) firmware (Had also looked at a site with instructions to use Googles sdk kit and cmd.exe to run adb oem -unlock...)
Update firmware through flashing the kdz files (With Picture) Step by Step (liked the look of this but is it needed if we already now have up to 2.1? Then tried to get files from CM 10.1 official site which never made much sense using this method requiring KDZ files or can .zips be used?)
Official ClockworkMod ROM Manager Downloads (tried a download of these then the latest seen here as Nightly releases but wasn't too sure how to use them after reading their wiki took me to some more serious looking developer areas)
[JB][412][CWM] ClockWorkMod 6.0.2.8 (FREEDOM for EUR-xxx) (Just started getting confused by here)
If anyone could help explain what happens in this whole process it'd be greatly appreciated as I tried reading a lot but ended up lost, and if there is a fairly straightforward way to do it if it can be shared to help anyone else too...
If not does anyone know if LG are likely to fix the issues with homescreen freezing/slow icons loading (phone non responsive for a few seconds - there was a couple of threads here, one with a solution that never worked) or bring an official release of 4.2 or beyond and should I just wait till then or try to go back to a working 4.0.3?
All help would be appreciated to point in the right direction with all the right threads/guide sites/videos needed to follow please.
Root your phone. Unlock your bootloader. Install recovery with ROM manager or off the thread in your post. Use clockworkmod to install cyanogenmod. I will not explain more because I fear you haven't done enough reading and may run into problems. Do the things I said in that order, and read the guides thoroughly. All the info is already here
