Can the mobile tv on the ATT Tilt work with the rogers mobile tv?
i phone tech support but we all know rogers is like OMFG NON ROGERS DEVICE GTFO
they told me no it wont work...
BUT its the same program they use on the HSDPA devices for mobile tv
Im certainly no expert on the matter, considering I am a t-mobile customer, and only get edge internet and no hsdpa, but I'm fairly certain the only thing allowing you to watch tv from your phone is the speed of your data connection. I think it will work no problem. Thats why I love windows mobile phones so much due to the lack of proprietaryness (is that a word?) anyhoo screw apple. peace.

3g doesn't add any functionality to anything. its really nothing! ok, i waited 10 more seconds for some web page to load, but who cares! wifi is all over the place anyway. its way cooler stealing wifi then giving cell companys business! at the same time ill never buy a phone thats not 3g lol
for me 3G is essential as I use my Diamond extensively on Telstra's 850Mhz 3G network, and I can get far better coverage in regional parts of Australia. 3G is also essential for me as I use my Diamond as an external modem connected to my laptop. I could not imagine trying to use the internet at dialup speeds!! (or not at all due to lack of coverage)

3G is a masssive bonus, especially when dealing with moving large files or for video calls. web pages are not so important.
As for stealing WIFI i think there is a strong moral question about doing that, especially as there are still people who are charge by the amount of data they use. Would you pick their pockets?
Thankfully most of the wifi spots i see people are wise enough to use WPA encryption. But still some people are relying on nothing or just WEP
in france we are massively under H (or a 3.5g or 3g+) so we don't care about 3g it's only when we goes to foreign country... but funny things there is a lack of wifi spot here
I'd buy it (again - my Touch Pro that is) in a second.
We do have quite spread UMTS and not bad HSPA and even some hot spots, but all these are just things "outside" the device; and the device rulez.

I don't much care for the 3G, it's a nice bonus but it's not the reason I bought the Diamond.
The Diamond is the perfect phone for me (especially after I found this place and was able to upgrade the software tremendously) and I would certainly buy it again.
My biggest complaint in that the screen is so easily scratched. I hate using screen protectors and never really had a problem with scratches on my previous touch screen (Treo 700wx) like I do now. But minor issues as far as I'm concerned. I definitley don't have a problem with the battery as many others do, as I've become quite accustomed to carrying spare batteries since I use my devices quite a bit.
Good phone, even better tech support (here). How can you go wrong?

3g isn't a a must, if you want to brows the internet get a computer, but for some people who work out in the field and needs Internet service then sure 3G is fun, but other wise than browsing the Internet you don't really need it, but for someone who is one of those emo Internet people myspace youtube what not, that its for u.
The answer depends on where you live as well as what you use your phone for.
In UK (and most of Western Europe) we have very good 3G and even 3.5G networks that can give us mobile broadband at very good speeds - not up to best wired speeds but getting close. You can really notice the difference between that and slow old GPRS when downloading emails or surfing the real web (rather than just WAP).
On the other hand in the UK free wifi spots are few and far between - most require some sort of payment or subscription - Holiday Inn hotels for example want £15 per day, and Hilton are £10! And most private companies (and households like mine) that use wifi lock their access so you can't park outside and piggy back.
Because there has been so much investment in these new technologies they are being pushed hard by the phone companies and many contracts for phones now come with "free" bundled data access. My HTC comes with "unlimited" downloads (sunbject as always to a fair use policy that I have never got near).
I understand that in other parts of the world including the US the roll out of this sort of technology is less advanced, and so the arguments for having 3G are less convincing at the moment.
I would not have bought the Diamond without 3G. 3G(Hdspa) is an absolutley must!

i gotta say once you use 3G (HSDPA) you will never go back, most if the time i don't even bother connecting to WIFI coz there is honestly hardly any speed difference if you have good reception (and i have unlimited data plan).
Luckily i live the the UK and with orange we have decent coverage and the speed is increasing over the next year of so

Well I bought my Diamond (european version) not knowing that 3G wouldn't work in the US. Despite that, It was going in for some repairs at HTC America with Canada post and somehow, the phone got "lost" (yeah right).
So now, I'm getting back my insurance money and I will most probably buy another Diamond not taking into consideration weather 3G works or not.

purchase a Telstra DIAM130 one from Australia and it will have 850Mhz 3G

I'm in the camp of MUST have 3g, in AU with telstra and all prior htc phones have had 3g BUT I went and grabbed a Diamond 100 a while back BEFORE we all really knew about the different models being hardware (bands) different so long story short I've got 2g only and it sucks big time.
Reception outside of metro very average, data s l o w ..no video callls and
I live in the country area, even chucked my sim card into my wifes old motorola v3xx., Yea pink as well........
I am using the Diamond as I like the phone/features
I'm looking to buy a 3g Diamond or renew/upgrade my plan due next month.
Then the hardly used Diamond100 will hit ebay and thats it.
(Unless someone in AU is looking to swap as Diam100 works on Optus/Voda etc, but not telstra)
So if your provider is going to get compatible phones then wait, otherwise like driving a v8 in first gear.

So I'm obviously in the market for a tablet, and the Galaxy Tab seems to be the best fit considering its price and functionality.
I have two main issues I need help with:
First, I know Skype recently announced that the Galaxy Tab supports video calling. This is VERY important - one of the reasons I'm getting a tablet is to easily skype my sister (really, my niece) and my long-distance boyfriend. Does video-calling work on both the WIFI and the 3G versions? Has anyone had any problems getting Skype to work?
Second, I'm trying to decide whether to purchase the WIFI-only version from Best Buy ($279 right now) or buying a used 3G version from CowBoom for the same basic price. I like the idea of having the option of getting a data-plan at some point, but don't want to be locked into a contract. Also, the idea of getting it used is a little scary (although I'd probably get CowBoom's 1 year protection plan). How much does the faster processor on the 3G version actually impact its functionality? Any other reason to get the 3G, even if I never end up getting a data plan?
Some more details about what I'm looking to do, since that is probably helpful ... I basically want to be able to surf the internet, answer emails, watch hulu plus at home, use the Kindle feature to read on the metro, and Skype video-call my loved ones. I start a job in early December where I will get some kind of smart phone(BB now, but they are thinking of switching to I-Phone), which is why I'm considering getting a WIFI-only version.

I wouldn't be afraid to buy the 3G version, the gps works better with a 3g radio, and there are some alternative roms available with the 3g versions, but none I know of for the wifi only.
I also believe skype only works on gingerbread 2.3.4, which you won't be able to get with the wifi only tab.

Even though I have the Verizon Gtab, you might consider a gsm, because there are many more roms available for it than the cdma version.

As a Verizon User, I was so ready for the Nexus 5 to come out on Verizon and when it didn't, yet the hardware supported it, I knew there had to be a way to get this device to run on Verizon's Network. So, naturally I looked around on Forums and such and here is what we know right now:
- The WTR1625L Built by Qualcomm (The Same chip in the G2) Does in fact have hardware support for Verizon
- The Nexus 5 DOES recognize Verizon as a network and has even allowed some users to browse on Band 4 LTE Shown here

- CDMA Voice and Band 13 Currently do not work (As Expected)
- A User named Ken GS4 over on the Google Forums here, was in fact able to have his Nexus 5's IMEI registered and active inside of Verizon's Database, and then theoretically, should "Activate". Now, Ken has stated that the phone would not work on CDMA or Band 13 however he does not live in a band 4 area and was unable to check on that

- Additionally, Ken had stated that the Verizon Wireless employees told him that on their end everything checked out and so, it had to be something in the Firmware that would be blocking it
- Some users on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2505847 have attempted flashing the LG G2 Radios at no avail, so unless those files are heavily modded in order to allow the Nexus 5 to turn on without a boot loop, that solution is out.
So, It looks as though all of us Verizon Users need a developer to look deep into the code, find what is blocking the Verizon network, and create a flashable zip which could remedy the solution and allow the WTR1625L to work as it does in the G2 but without any blockage. Now, developers, as we know, are busy and need to put food on the table. So, I propose we start a kickstarter/IndieGogo Campaign, along with a WILLING DEVELOPER, and have all of us Verizon users put our money where our mouths are. We would need to raise enough money to get a Developer a Nexus 5, and enough for a Verizon plan for at least a month, along with some extra cash to allow him/her to have payment for completing this incredibly large task. So, We are calling out to you, THE DEVELOPERS, to contact me so I can create a kickstarter/indiegogo campaign in your name, so that you can raise enough money to help all of us Get This Phone working on Big Red!!!
Screw Verizon. I left them after 5 years of sh!tty droid phones. I even had grandfathered unlimited data.

It will probably never happen I was with VZW for 10 years and I just switched to att and its been so much better just get out if u can.

If Verizon wanted the phone on their network they would have made a deal with LG/Google to do so legally. It seems to me an attempt to hack software to allow a phone to operate on a private company's bandwidth smacks of being illegal. If they wanted it, it would already be there. If you love the phone, take it where it works. If you live VZW, then pick something in their product line.

And THIS is the reason I am switching to T-Mo next month after 15 years with VZW. The GNex debacle was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Can't wait to have a REAL Nexus.
sorry verizon people, your just going to have to accept that verizon will not ever get a nexus device, due to how they handled the galaxy nexus. And they shouldnt after that.(
I left verizon & unlimited data about a month & a half ago. Sure, I hated to lose unlimited data. But, I wanted the N5. Sometimes you have to make hard decisions. Give up the good fight with verizon, you will not prevail. Leave as soon as you can if you can have good service with another provider.
um, WTR1625L is the transceiver. there are other components that need to be compatible (modem which is inside the snapdragon 800 chip, antennas)
you probably need to modify modem as well.... good luck finding the source code (FCC regulates the baseband) or hacking it
I'm gone from Verizon too. Have only found one place where I get no signal on tmo and in fact have a better signal in my office than I ever did on vzw. To the poster above, why would you lose unlimited? I'm on prepaid unlimited everything. Don't miss vzw too much. They won't legally allow a true nexus on their network any time soon so if you want a nexus you better be prepared to leave big red...

A lot of people don't seem to understand that Verizon throttles people's bandwith once they hit a certain limit on their data. It's still unlimited, but you'll be getting it a lot slower eventually if you use a lot of data. The same goes with any "unlimited" data plan from prepaid carriers these days, you typically pay for a certain amount of data at "full 4G/LTE speeds" and then once you hit that limit, you get throttled down to a slower download and upload rate.
I'm on Aio Wireless and get 8+/- mbps on LTE (They cap you at 8mbps on LTE), but once I hit my limit, I go to 256kbps which is still plenty fast enough to surf the web. You're not going to stream netflix in HD off of that little bandwith, but for many people it'll do the job just fine for facebook, surfing the web, checking emails, etc.
I left Verizon a year ago, and I'll never go back to them ever. Even if they lowered their prices to be competitive with T-Mobile or other prepaid carriers, it's not worth their bloatware loaded phones, cdma network, or software update timeline.
Verizon will never get a nexus. Nor do they deserve one. They hold off updates etc. And that's not what a nexus is about. I had unlimited data on Verizon. And was with then for 10+ years. Sold my **** and left. Got straight talk using att towers. It's been a month and I'm much better off.

A bit of an analogous story, I bought an HP touchpad during the firesale and the community back then was so hellbent on getting android to work on the HP tablet because the native webos was a dying ecosystem. Lo and behold a bunch of developers actually managed to get Android onto the HP touchpad but it didn't run very well because the touchpad's hardware wasn't optimized for android to begin with. It was a crappy, unstable experience.
Alot of credit and Kudos go to the developers who made this possible, however. Those guys were amazing but the long and short of it is that you're going to be making a huge effort to get a subpar experience. If you can't break from the Verizon network, you might as well just get something which is officially supported or naively runs on the Verizon network.
TLR you're putting a bunch of effort in achieving a subpar experience at best.
Just leave Verizon. They charge way too much and have crap phones. Jump ship to T-Mobile or att

I left verizon for ATT and am not looking back. I used to love verizon becuase of the great service but ATT has the same if not better service. I even left with a corporate discount and unlimited data. The Nexus 5 was just worth it.
Another one here that left a corporate discount and grandfathered unlimited data just to have an unadulterated Android experience with the Nexus 5. I miss the unlimited 4G and that there were more LTE towers for verizon in my area but it was a sacrifice I had to make. Saves me some $$ in the long run and I have a much better phone because of it.
why do people insist that this is possible? it's not going to work, just move on to another carrier.
A little background: I just graduated from college and will be moving to and starting a job in Maryland. I'm currently on my parents' Verizon share everything plan. They offered to keep me on (probably without me paying), but I really want to be independent and pay for my own phone plan. Basically, as I see it, my options are to stay on their plan and pay close to $70 a month to share 4gb of data (which sucks) with 2 other people on a good network or go with a non-contract plan. After some research, I'm really attracted to the moto x on republic wireless, even though it would be a downgrade from my current Htc One m8 (amazing phone, but I'm finding that it's bigger than I need and I don't play games at all like I thought I would).

Anyway, apologies for the wall of text. My question is, will the 3G services provided by Republic be sufficient for streaming music from pandora? The area I'm going to be in (Frederick, MD) seems to have very limited 4g coverage, but I'm not going to be streaming videos much over 4g. Over the past 8 months or so, basically all I've done with my phone beyond communication is streaming music, web browsing, and navigation.
Also, how does the moto x handle multiple tabs with chrome?
