Eris Dialer - Droid Eris Themes and Apps

Hi guys this is my first post. I just rooted my eris droid and i dont like the htc dialer.
Is there a way to change the htc dialer for the stock android dialer? Or any other dialer (not an app) that i can install.
Thanks in advance

just replace the htcDialer.apk with other one in system/app

You could try installing a vanilla rom, unless you use the other HTC apps. Otherwise, download a vanilla rom, unzip it, remove the dialer from /system/app, then push it to the same directory on your phone. Don't forget to remove the htc dialer.

Thanks for the feedback, i downloaded ic3rom, its awesome. Is it possible to use ic3 roms' dialer and taskbar and put it in another rom such as evil eris or any other rom?

Ic3rom by far has my favorite dialer. great blend of vanilla and sense. I'm attempting to place it on xtrROM, I'll let you know what I find.

Does the replacement need to be named htcDialer.apk?

Branwen's Vanillan Community Theme

EDIT: DOES NOT WORK FOR 1.1
Ok so here is my first shot at a theme.
I've done some image editing on this, but mainly its a compilation of stuff from other themes on this site.
Flash at your own risk/do a nandroid backup!
How-to Theme Development
And NpRussell for making this rom
And Oshaka for making .jar's easy to edit
And the themes I borrowed from:
Luminescence by Amoredraven
Blue_Haze by Cloverdale
And Enoch's theme, which I can't find atm.
So go send those people some love
And of course
hTC

Oops, to help clear it up, its using Home++, which is a home replacement app, in beta on the market
Works with the Hero? Vanillian might be hero-only tho... still, does it? Looks sweet!

Thanks.
I think the .jar edits would cause it to bootloop, but I'll have a look and see.
But only for vanilla roms, nothing with sense
This theme work with CyanogenMod v1.0 ROM?
Is the file corrupt?
Ive downloaded it and attempted to extract the files to view exactly whats been changed but it wont extract correctly?
are this really for htc hero? after i install & reboot but the btm scrolling icon was not there.
It may well be solely for the VanillainROM, which is in my sig.
It depends exactly what's been changed and where.
Good to see someone theming my roms anyway

Its there in the revolution HD build for sense by he_stheone64 .
But its an entire framework which replaces everything!!
Even i would like to know how to just theme the dialer.
If any one could make a CWM zip for just the dialer it would be really helpful!!!
the "owner" of the Revolution HD thread actually explained how to extract it at some point... in the revolution thread... extract the necesary files from the Revolution theme that you downloaded to you computer, i think its only the dialer apk, put it on your SD card, and push it to /system/app ... that should do it...
remem to give credit to the owner, if u use it in a theme or post it anywhere..
the dialer.apk doesnt work.. have left a message for Multi to see if he is willing to share the dialer
Here you go guys...
I consulted with MultiCulti and he_stheone64...
Attached is the black dialer installable zip...
All credits to MultiCulti and he_stheone64...
Copy it to your SD card and install via CWM.. it may take a couple of minutes to boot aftet installing.. works fine on LD 1.4.1
The screeny is not from my phone.. note that the call/anrufen button remains green in color.. not black as shown on the pic.. rest is like the pic
Awesome could you find the White Dialer so we can revert back if we wish.
Many thanks.

Just back-up your own HtcDialer.apk 1st from /system/app with Root Explorer.
Does this dialer also work on the stock rom?

I'm a beginner at this, but if you can pull the /assets/keyboards folder out of the apk by using winrar or 7-zip, and you have something like photoshop or illustrator, etc, then you can go bonkers with the image files in there.
when you are done editing it then shove it back in the appropriate place in the apk.
Note that I am not on CM7, but I *think* it should be the same...?

Cool! Let me know if you have a way of changing the trace color. I've got that question posted in other threads, but while I'm doing my own reading, can't hurt to ask too many people, too.

Not sure what to tell you except that I modified a working swype from a custom rom and the theme stock after reboot.
Did you modify a beta swype directly? I'm not sure if that would even have been the problem, but had to ask.

i modified the new version the one that you need to install the swype installer and then through that app you get swype, that swype isnt in system/app, is in data/app

I don't even know if this will work. For all I know it could mess things up, big warning there.
Could you try to move that to /system/app and rename as Swype.apk (if it hasn't been done already --- not even sure that's necessary)?
...or even better...grap the Swype.apk and libSwypeCore.so file from a working custom ROM and use those and drop your own keyboard images on that one. That's what I did and it works for sure.
EDIT: Gonna be slow in responding for a bit. Getting dragged out of the house to Home Depot. Uggghhhh.
In order to theme the swype tail, you need to decomplie the apk. Then you edit res/values/colors. You will see
color name="TRACE_PATH_COLOR">#xxxxxx</color>

xxxxxx being your hex color. Recompile and swype!

You have to decompile the apk using apktool first.
sent using a phone.
one question, swype is natively installed on captivates...how come the "trial period ended" when using custom roms?

If you downloaded Swype from the web page and installed it with their installer, then it'll be installed here:

[Request] Google Dialer V 2.1

Can someone find me the stock nexus 6 google dialer 2.1 apk, PLEASE! I can't find it and I am running liquidsmooth and don't have the stock dialer and really miss it. Please help me. :crying:
Go to androidhost.com and put in search Dialer. And 2.1 will be there

I decompiled Phone.apk in case of select incoming call screen photo transparency, but cannot find right string, any help??...Thx for advance :cyclops:
Did you manage to find it? Couldn't see it myself on AFH.
Unable to download the stock ROM to extract at the minute
You need more than the apk. There's a permissions xml and a library module, too.
I would love to use the Google dialer on aosp. Like brizey said, you need more than the apk.
Flash this one in recovery. Its by Thyrus and djdarkknight. You'll probably end up having two dialers and two contacts apks. So you'll have to delete the ones from System/Priv-apps that don't have google in the name. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934552274

No, just completely themable by the theme chooser if your ROM supports it. Layers I'm not sure about.
