CM6 bugs - Droid Incredible Android Development

Lately I've been using the latest CM6 test 8 Rom and have encountered a few problems. The kernel Koush is using is a pretty fast one with minimal power usage but I believe this has also contributed to overheating. While on other stock or stable roms this rarely occurs de my phone, but now when my phone is even idle, the overall heat radiating from it is not usual. Is anyone else having these issues? I must give Koush props for the camera fix, it is nice work for a test rom and I look forward to an upcoming camera fix. I have also noticed that on this Rom that I can not install certain apps. I have cleared my market cache and have done all I can think of to install the apps successfully. I have also noticed using the track pad to wake the phone is spotty. To me this is expected, for some reason even using this feature on other roms or lock screens is spotty too. I find that holding the track pad down for 5 seconds seems to wake the phone when the feature is enabled. I was also wondering about the notifications. Is it possible to get this feature available? Although this is a pre release, I admire the coding and work Koush did to get this Rom up when the people wanted it.

There is a thread dedicated to CM6 bugs here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=722478
You'll probably get more help there b/c that's where the CM6 users are hanging out.

[Q] Where is RC1-7.0.0-11.02.18 CM7 for Milestone?

I see in the Dev forum that the first RC1 of Cyanogenmod 7 for Milestone is available, but when I go to download it here, it doesn't seem to be available. I guess it would be called update-cm-7.0.0-RC1-0.07-11.02.18-Milestone-signed.zip but that last one available was the 11.02.15 release. Does anyone know whether the RC1-7.0.0-11.02.18 has been withdrawn for some reason?
I've been testing each and every build with good success, so I'm really keen to try the new one. I would ask in the dev forum, but I'm relatively new at the XDA forum and am therefore not eligible to post in it.

Well, I eventually found the correct download link at https://github.com/downloads/nadlabak/android/update-cm-7.0.0-RC1-0.07-11.02.18-Milestone-signed.zip
Thanks,

How is it working out so far? I've recently just started using cm6 but I don't want to install too much / get invested in it if CM7 is solid enough to use day 2 day.

I would stick with cm6 for now. CM7 could use many improvements and as of now is very memory hungry (I was on the feb.10 release). CM7, however, has many bug fixes that are not implemented in cm6, for example, the wifi fix (wasn't working with some n routers before I think [depending on the security type or something] ) and it seems as though there is also the random freeze + random reboot fix (using another, older kernel) I would not switch to CM7, until many bugs are fixed. Also some games don't work.

It's great. But video playing not working for me.
So I installed CM7 to try it out, and on RC1 my videos play fine (widescreen) using the included "Video" app. Well most of them do, one of them is displayed 4:3 for some reason?
I'm finding that it works quite well. Battery life is good, but there are a few bugs that need working out. CM6 is probably better if you need your phone to be 100% reliable, but I like to push the boundaries and play around.
Bugs or missing features so far:
- Button lights and keyboard backlight not working properly for me (and at least one other user here)
- Auto backlight brightness not working for me at all
- Volume button swapping/remapping not yet implemented, so that in lanscape mode left means louder (which is the wrong way round for me)
- Memory usage is a problem, so that Launcher pro keeps having to re-initialise
- Camera is VERY unreliable
- Getting random reboots and lockups, especially in Google Maps
Still, things are getting better with every release and I can always go back to CM6 if I want, since I made a Nandroid backup in OpenRecovery before I installed the CM7 update. I've just installed the RC2 update, so lets see how that goes...

[Q][ICS 4.0.4 / MTD] AOKP for P1000/L/N - Camera App

Hello!
I have been using the ICS 4.0.4 [MTD] AOKP for P1000 ROM for sometime now and am on the latest build B#36 (as on 17/05). The Camera App with that build is not stable and does crash randomly. This is mentioned in the Bugs List. However, in the following post --
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25102133&postcount=876
I have installed the 'CameraUpdates.zip' and have not faced any issues with the Camera App after that. Further, the GUI is also different from the Camera App present in the B#36.
My question is why not update or include the Camera App listed in the link above with the next build of this ROM?
(Unfortunately, I cant post in the Dev Thread due to the number of posts.. Could someone look into this and pass it on to the Dev Thread -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1523174)
Thanks.
Yes I mentioned that and Stimpz0r will fix it in the next build, it was included in the previous build. Thanks

Couple things:
I would've posted this in the dev thread, but, you know the rules about new accounts :/
Just one day since coming from build 35 to 37, have noticed significant power drain, still quantifying it, will keep my eye on it, but initially lost 30% over the course of 5 hours in idle mode, constant drain, 3g off, wifi off when screen not active, BT off, GPS off.
Also, the whole app rotation on home screen thing comes up when trying to move/delete/uninstall, even with allow 180° rotation turned on. After activating rotation, one has to restart before it takes affect.
More importantly, the main camera still acts up quite a bit for me. Quite a few fc's, which is to be expected, i guess. Strangely if i turn off the shutter sound in settings, it crashes, every time. Like, always and without fail. Panorama and video, front camera all working well, just the main camera. Tested with stock camera, instagram, vignette, and procapture, same effect, fc's with shutter sound off. I did a factory reset/wipe and went through settings systematically, so I'm reasonably sure this is the problem. Wonder if anyone else has encountered this, or has a work around. I hate that shutter noise.
Don't know if it's intentional but when i try to turn off menu button in top right corner through menu location in rom control settings, the button isn't removed, and the nav bar back/home/recents/menu buttons become larger and more spaced out instead. Not a problem, just weird. Resetting nav bar options and rebooting reverts it back to smaller keys again.
Finally i just want to give some recognition to devs like stimpz0r, humberos, cdesai, dizgustipated, alroger, chainfire, and sbrady, who seem to consistently add to and improve these builds tirelessly, as well as take the time to answer questions and field comments from noobs and more experienced members alike with a degree of patience and humour. And of course thanks to all the aokp and cyanogenmod mates, my sgt works so far better than when i bought it. The teamwork and support is amazing to see. It's impressive, what all of you guys have been able to do. I thought we were all well and truly screwed by Samsung, i couldn't believe it when they left all of us early adopters out in the cold, but you have really come through for all of us. This is a seriously nice piece of work.

By batt hasn't been great, but yesterday I downloaded Battery Calibrator by Damo Software and did calibration according to its instruction and seems to improve.
Shutter sound is a known bug, I thunk mentioned in the known bugs, did you read it?
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA
Now that you mention the camera thing, yeah. But I'm a johnny come lately to aokp. It takes a serious time investment to read through all the posts with the issues scattered throughout, it's easy to miss one. And while there is a lot of info in the op and changelog posts, particularly about mtd/non-mtd (which is great) these common problems seem to be under-addressed, so i thought to just gather them together here for someone to find. I know it must be a pain to update the changelog posts thoroughly after every new build.
Cheers

Nexus One avatarRom beta

Hey I'm a long time lurker here, and as such I have too few posts to be able to post in the development thread. I wanted to give initial feedback on this ROM.
Note: I slimmed this rom down before installing.
This ROM is incredibly smooth, i'd say smoother than any other that iv'e tried, but it does have some screen tearing and visual artifacts.
Mobile network does not work
No trackball/volume rocker wake
Wifi does work
Themes apply well
Again, this is veeery smooth!!!
I have not been able to test anything else as this phone is my daily driver, but i see the mobile network and trackball/volume rocker wake as high priority.
Penis,
Rob.
does it work wid stock partiton? or need blackrose? anyother notable issues ?
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
I installed it on a 180/10/rest partition, but as I mentioned before, I slimmed the ROM down before installing. (I have a class 10 sd card but everything goes reeeeaally slow if i use a2sd)
You CANNOT install this rom on stock partition!!!!!
I didn't test this ROM for long as my N1 is my daily phone, and the lack of network renders this rom unusable for now. The lack of trackball/volume wake also renders this rom uusable for me as my power button is dead.
Penis,
Rob.
Please i am looking link for Ruu for google nexus one

[Q] Bugs, bugs, bugs

Dear all,
it is my first try to run cyanogenmod (10.1 Rel 7) on my SGS+. But when using it, I immediately found plenty of issues:
- Navigation is only partially working. After a while the maps starts jumping around and dark semi transparent overlay sections appear so that one cannot see the full map. In the forum I found the hint to deactivate Dithering. Done. Only little improvement.
- Alarm clock is not working when the phone is turned off.
- Screen goes off after dialing a number (workaround: lift phone to the ear and lower it back down -> screen is on again).
- No FM radio app (in comparison to the stock rom).
- Skype video is still upside down (as with stock rom).
My colleagues were very enthusiastic about cyanogen mod. In contrast, I haven't really detected the advantages. Are the developpers still working on the issues? Is there anything I can do to support you guys?
To answer your queries:
-Navigation- use the bug reporting method on the CM10.1 forums and submit it as a bug report either in the S CM10.1 thread or on JIRA. More details are given in the CM10.1 thread OP.
-This feature doesn't work even on stock. Its not a bug, and its not just CM10.1. MIUI allows this apparently however.
-This is normal, not a bug either. When you call someone the screen goes off because you're going to lift it to your ear anyway. The 'workaround' is actually the proximity sensor, and a similar thing happens on stock roms. The only solution to this is to press a button when the screen initially turns off.
-FM Radio isn't included in CM builds by default, as the API needed for it needs some intense changes made to it. There's Spirit FM if you want to run the risk. Check out the thread for more information.
-Skype on CM10.x is a known issue
Try CM10.2 and see if that helps the first issue, if not, report it using the methods in the CM threads. Otherwise everything else is as normal/known.

Irrespective of a few bugs there are definitely a number of advantages to using CM.
Have you noticed how smooth CM10.1 is? For me it's smoother than stock. Definitely a plus.
The pre-installed applications are more polished/work better and you actually have control over them. Don't like one? You can remove it. Unlike stock where you are stuck with a lot of junk (unless you have rooted your phone).
Bugfixes! We're no longer stuck with a 2 year old version of an OS for which we don't receive any bugfixes.
Customizability. CM gives you a lot more features to have your phone just the way you want it.
Overclocking and undervolting.
Not everyone had this problem, but my phone took > 5 minutes to get a GPS fix on stock. It takes < 10 seconds on CM.
And that's just what I came up with in a few minutes. Yes, there will be a few bugs and features which you think are weird (like the screen turning off when you make a call) but you'll find that on any piece of software. If you personally feel CM is a downgrade then it's your right to think so and go back to stock ROM. That doesn't mean the average xda-user is going to agree with you though.
(I think there are also a few ROMs based on the stock 2.3.6 versions, but since I've never used them I wouldn't know which ones are worth trying.)

Invisiblek's 4.4 12-30-13 Nightly Impression

I can't post this on the Milaq thread (where most of the invisiblek discussion is) so I thought I would post it here to give anyone else a heads up.
The Good:
It's a fairly stable kernel and all my apps run seemingly just fine. I mean I've only been running it about 5 hours but not a single FC. I did have a weird bootup glitch that locked it up right away after install but after that I loaded all the apps just fine. Super exciting to see it so far!
The Bad:
Screen pixelation/tearing from left to right, especailly on grey backgrounds. Something is up with the video driver/gpu voltage. Certain icons like the Settings sprocket will have a few pixels that will flash and other times you'll see lines all the way across the screen. It might be color specific. I was playing Quadropus Rampage and never noticed it but then went back to the home screen or typing an e-mail and it's very much there.
Pandora plays music fine. If you turn off the screen while playing, horrific things happen like ZZZZZZZZZZZZ and then hard lock. I didn't like that station anyway..
The "OK Google" voice command doesn't seem to work though voice typing does. I'm pretty sure this worked on the Milaq build of the same date.
It's a bit slow and CPU is stuck to 1188. There is a bit of a lag switching apps but I don't notice any core functions slow.
The Different:
The home button doesn't wake up the TP. Only the power button.
Can't say anything about battery life quite yet but I'll keep a gander on it. Battery hasn't been a super concern of mine because I plug it in ever night
The Different:
The typical 15 second reset switch mult-button key is more like 3 seconds now. I like this a lot better.
Positive:
--backup and restore work
--it is getting much better.
Negatives:
--Microphone does not work, so I could not use any vioce search or voice dialer/sound recorder.
--Free game "F.S. Xtreme" has black box issue.
--Youtube still has reboot issue.
--TV streams app "syncbak" has similar reboot issue.
My wifi keeps shutting off and won't restart without reboot. Not even sleeping. Other than that it runs nicely.
Switched to milaq's 3.0 kernel.
The CPU is pre-configured to run at much higher 1.5Ghz, yet the 3.0 rom is still able to run very stable.
I am waiting for camera fix to enable video calls.
Since both 3.0/3.4 rom are using the same CWM, it makes 3.0/3.4 rom switch very easy.
Waiting on Flintmans as it is the only non data media rom. Not a big fan of all the repartitioning. For several reasons. Good to see choices still available. God bless the developers for all their time and effort. Wish I could do what they do.

I flashed 3.4 rom (0103) over 3.0, and tried briefly.
--3.4 rom seems running OK, except it runs relatively slower at 1.1Ghz.
--camera is not working on both 3.0/3.4 rom.
--Free game "F.S. Xtreme" seems not compatible with 3.x kernel. It also cannot run on Samsung S3.

Same here. Also double check that the setting took. I swear I unchecked it and it went back or didn't take the first time. Perhaps give it a toggle or two. I also noticed that if wifi turns off, it won't turn back on.
Anyone else having a problem with rebooting from within CM and it just goes to a blank screen?
Dirty flashed to the 1/5 nigthly. Reboot issues seems gone now, or just that a reflash has fixed mine specifically.
Just noticed that there is an official thread over at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2592909
Hopefully I can post there too!

Negative on the posting. I'm still seeing the bzzzz when the screen shuts off while playing music. Have disabled the mic (I think). Curious that nobody on that thread has reported that quite yet.
I'm very excited to see all of this development on our old TPs! I'm currently running Milaq's latest 3.0 kernel test build. It is running almost perfectly for me! I cannot wait for 3.4 to finish getting smoothed out. I've tried Invisiblek's builds out, and they currently seem a little laggy compared to Milaq's 3.0 test build. Great work all around though! Thanks to Invisiblek, Flintman, Milaq, JCSullins, Dorregary, and all of the others that I haven't mentioned who have contributed so much of their time and skill toward keeping our Touchpads relevant, even competitive with the current crop of tablets on the market!
