[Q] Replacing SGS Contacts with Android stock contacts possible? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to replace the Touchwhiz contacts app on the SGS with the android stock contacts app? I have seen it in the FAQ thread to be possible for other parts of Touchwhiz, and since the car kit I use will not synch "group" contats from the SGS contacts app I would really like to exchange it for the android stock app, which synches just fine.
Thank you for your help.

HTC Sense Hero Exchange Sync

Has or can anyone extract the exchange sync (contacts, mail, calendar) that is available on hero or sense?
Maybe in apk format so that we could load it on a 1.6, or 2.x (non hero or sense) ROM?
Thanks for any help, I did a search, but didn't find this request specifically, I apologize in advance if this has already been asked and answered.

The one from the hero rom is restricted to the htc sense ui.
I was hoping it could be extracted the way cyanogen has the HTC keyboard available separately (HTC_IME.apk).
The Sense UI widgets utilize a different framework.....so you will most likely never see these on a "standard" android device....although HTC is currently porting widgets and adding them to the Android Market....so keep your eyes open.
PS....wrong section.
But is exchange sync really a widget? It's intgrated into the data sync preferences. . Kind of like how the keyboard is integrated into the text & local settings.

The exchange is part of the mail widget in hero.

Sharing contacts via SMS

I recently purchased a N1, and it has been a great phone so far. One of my only problems is that I can't share contacts via SMS. Is there any way to do this?
Yes, grab 'Share contacts via SMS' (by Dor Naveh) from the Market
Thank you. One more question, is this feature something that Froyo has or is an app still going to be necessary?

[Q] Exchage folders problem - change email apk

Hi guys,
Moving from WM to android is creating me more problems than expected
Apologies if I make a few noob questions.
I got a Galaxy tab, and everything works fine expect the email apk which is not able to show the folders of my corporate email account. I've seen that this problem affect other people/devices, but couldn't find a working solution.
Funny enough, I got my old Blackstone running XDAndroid working fine with the same exchange account and showing all my email folders and sub folders.
I've seen the $20 touchdown, but I'd prefer a native solution, so my questions are:
- Understand that after rooting I'll be able to replace the Samsung mail apk. What would be the procedure?
- I would like try the email apk from the XDAndroid. do you see any limitation for this apk to work on the tab.
- is it possible to get the HTC mail apk (sense) working in the Tab? does someone have a working apk?
- Any other solution to show the exchange email folders into our Tab?
Thanks in advance
Funny, i had same idea with HTC Mail.apk but found nothing on web.
So anybody want to port HTC Mail to Galaxy Tab?
~ from Tab using XDA App. ~
HTC's email.apk needs sense, and would be nearly impossible to port it without using a sense rom as a base.
Exchange(2007 SP2) and subfolders works great though on my tab.
Also i've noticed that there are some differences between my stock rom and overcome, so you could try that.

hi YoMark,
Can you pls let me know which Email version are you running? (just go to aplication/manage applications/all/Email.
Mine is version 2.2 and it is not showing the exchange folders/subfolders (exchange 2007)
I also have the email 2.2 apk and while mails and folders load fine, it takes ages (1 min at least) on startup and any switch and email apk is prone to force close (especially when switching between mails or switching to another app)
I reported this months ago, but no solution has been found yet... Only thing I hate about the tab, as I have 0 productivity with Emails

[Q] Samsung SNS on Cyanogen Mod?

I really like the Facebook sync on Samsung, that it allows you to sync contacts and calender with your phone. However on Cyanogen you can only have the Facebook for Android app which only allows you to sync contacts.
Can I install the SNS features from a Samsung rom to Cyanogen Mod? Or has someone found a workaround, maybe with Google Calender?
Thanks in advance!
You cannot use Samsung apps on CM7. they have a different file system and they will not work.
you will need to find something else.

[Q] Stock contacts app from android 2.3.4?

hi everybody, I don't know if this has been alredy asked, but I couldn't find it...
I had the android 2.3.4 on my galaxy mini... I've just got installed the CyanogenMod 7.2 RC1...
Well the thing is, this rom has a different contacts app...
In my 2.3.4, my stock contacts app, had the option no syncronize with facebook, without having the facebook for android app installed... This way I had all the pictures, the phone numbers, even the last post on the wall of ever one of my facebook friends right below the picture...
All this things I don't have it in this new contacts app on the rom...
Can anyone help me to get the stock contacts apps from de 2.3.4, or at least, one that have the option to sync with facebook...
thanks in advance...
Just install Facebook for Android and let the sync begins...
Samsung gives syncaccountfb.apk preinstalled which let the device add Facebook contacts on device and do many Facebook tasks I will upload the required app if anybody wants
