Droid X SBF File released - Droid X Android Development

Rootz Wiki has posted the SBF File for .604
SBF File

Awesome news!

Thank you for this great news.
Any proof that this .sbf can work with RSDLite or we must do a little modification on .ini file?
If so, can someone make a tutorial of it?
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk

I didn't test the file. I am just passing along info that I know a lot of people have been waiting for.

From what i understand, and i have not tested it yet, this" should" work with rsd. Id love to know if anyone has any feedback!

try flashing everything manually using fastboot rather than using rsdlite
using rsd and it wont do anything in fastboot only gets connected in sbf flash
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255198 try psouzas script on this page and flash just the partitions you want. It doesn't use rsd. Rsd didnt like my phone either. Unzip the files from psouzas script and use the partitions from the sbf. Put them in the files folder from the psouza script.

You tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1236465 ? Basically to step 7, you should probably be able to use adb to push the fonts back onto your phone from that point.
how do you use adb??/
Listen and trust me on this one, go to cricketusers.com and go to the droid 3 part of the forum I have attached the files and posted my method which WILL fix your phone for sure... you do use rsd lite and it will connect to your phone in fastboot mode contrary to some of these posts.

I did unr3l3as3droot and forever root first. Then I did the path saver. Then I flashed 896 and 901. After that, I downloaded the 902 ota but didn't install it. Moved it from /cache to the external SD card. Then I turned the phone off. To turn it back on, I hit both volume up and down as I powered it back on. That took me to a different menu that I can't currently think of the name but that is where you will flash 902 at. Remember that the 902 update has 901 in its file name when flashing. If you come across a triangle thing, hit volume up and down and the update will flash.

Easier root method...
There is an easier way then this now...
1. Install update
2. Use the Droid 4 exploit found at vulnfactory.org/blog/2012/02/11/rooting-the-droid-4-a-failed-bounty-experiment/ and yes it works for the Bionic on 5.9.902 (i just got done using it)
3. Look at your phone.... its now rooted.
And everyone who uses it should donate to djrbliss and prove that the Android community can support such a valuable asset!

I just did the OTA over wireless and did the update and I kept ROOT.
I did un-froze all the apps I had frozen with titanium backup before applying the update.
Still have root...
In my case, the update wouldn't install. I had to go all the way back before I could go forward.

Motofail (GB+ICS): Universal Motorola Android Root Tools (Portable)

For convenience sake, I have compiled the Motofail rooter into a single exe file (for use on builds with a GB-based kernel). I have also compiled the ICS root exploit into a single exe file as well (for builds based on a true ICS kernel). No code has been changed, and all credit goes to Dan Rosenberg (@djrbliss).
Universal Gingerbread (GB) Rooter: Download HERE (virus free)
Universal Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) Rooter: Download HERE (virus free)
These rooters have been tested and working on Droid 3, Droid Bionic, Droid RAZR, Droid 4, even on the latest ROM releases like the 5.9.905 for the Bionic and the official/cheesecake ICS leaks. Please make sure you use the right rooter, one is for GB and the other is for ICS. These will work on the official OTA releases as well as any custom ROMs.
If needed, the latest Motorola USB PC drivers can be downloaded here:
http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-...tware_and_Drivers/USB-and-PC-Charging-Drivers
So I'm almost ready to use this but I do need to know if there is a way to unroot back to stock on the .902 root.

No, this is nothing more than the standard motofail, it is just compiled into a single EXE file now. I created it because I had people asking me how to use Motofail. One guy asked me what file he runs, or if he copies the files into his sytem of his phone **yikes**, so I made this just for convenience sake (it only runs on Windows, so it should be pretty clear).
Thanks crobs! This is a great idea. I want to let you know I've added it to my step-by-step guide, which I hope will be helpful for anyone who is unsure how to use this tool to root their phone.

A lot of people find this website when they want to do something specific with their phone. The majority of them do not know what a batch file is. The devs on here have a lot of good information but spit it out at a high level, expecting people to just "know" a ton of information right off the .bat (pun intended)
I am simply trying to bridge the gap, as you can probably infer from my practical/layman-term tutorials.

Tried this with Xoom but says: remount failed
and no luck. Does this even work on Xoom or is this particular file only for phones?
Edit: Could whoever did this include the local.prop file and step 5. from the original Dan Rosenberg thread? Apparently then it would also work for Xoom tablets.
PRETTY PLEASE!

thanks and I have a question. adb is broken on my Bionic and has been for months that's why I haven't updated until now because all root exploits until recently have utilized adb and for some reason, my adb on my Bionic is broken except for adb wireless, so does Motofail use adb at any point during its process? i mean it kinda has to doesn't it? I don't know I've never known how the root programs work step by step, its just most i've ever used have used adb, except on my Droid Eris I had a one-click root.

i think you need adb
i got my adb working. I updated my phone to .902 on a hunch that it might fix my adb and it worked. I ran motofail and this is what i got
[*] Deploying payload...
cannot stat 'motofail': No such file or directory
Unable to chmod /data/local/motofail: No such file or directory
[*] Owning phone...
/data/local/motofail: not found
[*] Rebooting device...
[*] Waiting for phone to reboot.
actually.....my phone didn't update which is weird. it got stuck in a bootloop and so i went into factory recovery and factory reset it, and it went back to .886. but I got it forever rooted so hopefully it will be able to update successfully from here

You can flash a stock fxz through RSD lite. From there you can update. If you want root still, you will need to root again on ICS and then use OTA Root keeper to save root when you upgrade to JB. Root access isn't holding your phone back from getting updated, it won't update because the previous owner deleted system files.

[Q] Need help. Missing files from /preinstall folder. Will donate to you :)

Would anybody mind uploading a zip file of their "/preinstall" system folder from their Droid 4? I'm missing some files from in there. Specifically the video files for the "Guided Tours" stock app. I must have deleted them a while back, and now I can't install the Jelly Bean OTA update.
I went back to stock, removed Safestrap and unrooted the phone to do the update. And when I go to do it, it gives me an error because those files weren't found. They don't seem to be in the Droid 4 Dump, so I guess I'm S.O.L. unless I can get them from somebody.
If I deleted those, I probably deleted something else from in there, so could you please send me the whole directory? I'd be happy to throw you a donation. Ten bones sound fair? Many thanks in advance.

Yeah, I think I did read something about those utilities in another post. I'm kind of iffy about going that route, because I've never used them before, and don't wanna like seriously mess up my phone. Was hoping to avoid it, but I guess it is what it is.

Yes and yes. Just DL the utility and fast boot ICS file. Unzip ICS file and move files to the files directory of utility. Make sure latest drivers are installed and battery is full connect phone run utility select boot into fast boot then option 11. Choosing to save files still won't let u install the update. Went ahead and did it last night, and it worked! After using this to reset my ICS stock ROM, the OTA Jelly Bean Update installed just fine. Thanks a ton. I gotta say, this online community rocks! I love how helpful and supportive everybody is of each other.
One minor note, I had to do this on my roommate's Windows 7 computer to get it to work. I couldn't get it to work on either my laptop or desktop, both of which have Windows 8. The phone drivers wouldn't install. Strange; I downloaded the USB drivers from Motorola, and they appeared to install, but when I plugged my phone into the computer, and went to use the Utility, it kept giving me a "Device not found" error. And also, when I checked in "Device Manager," it showed my phone with an exclaimation point and said that the drivers weren't installed.
When I followed the same process on a Windows 7 computer, the drivers installed as soon as I plugged the phone in. Weird; Motorola's website said that the drivers were for Windows 7 and 8. I tried disabling "Signature Verification" on Windows 8, but that didn't work either. Anybody know if Motorola hasn't released Windows 8 drivers for Droid 4 yet? Just wanna know for future reference. Thanks a bunch.
