I've never had a problem with my Nexus one with any of the cyanogen roms, but when I updated to RC2, now my phone won't install apps. It'll download fine, but will freeze at the "installing" part. I've wiped and reverted to my nandroid backup, but now it won't install any apps from the market. I've searched the forum and I've tried, wiping everything and flashed RC1 and RC2, still no luck. Is anybody else having this problem and is there a fix? Please advise, thanks.
This happens to me about 50% of the time when changing ROMS. Try going to settings>applications>market> Force stop, then CLEAR DATA & CLEAR CACHE. Then next time you open the market you will get the terms of service again and you should be able to download and install. Hope that works for you.
(It could be related to the phone having too many processes to do immediately after flashing as well, so give it a few minutes to catch up as well.)
I tried that method and it didn't work for me, however I did find a similar post and they mentioned to delete the folders .android_secure , Android, download, LOST.DIR on the SD card. That actually fixed the problem, hope this helps other people.
I found today I couldn't install apps, got a "Not enough space" dialog... My SD card was 100% full, must download to the SD card temporarily. Whoops.

Well usually I'm pretty well rounded out of getting myself out of holes I dig but this time, not so much.
I've been chilling on a 1.5 soullife build and I don't really care about Android 1.6 but I really liked the whole Tool Android Screencast and so I went ahead and attempted to flash 1.6
Failure at line 42, I figure I need a different spl so whatever I am constructive and wipe some extensions and such, same problem.
Alright whatever Nandroid back to my backup I made two seconds ago, boots up fine, problem loading widget. And all my apps are scripts and not working/found.
I've seen this before so ok, recovery fix permissions, fix everything whatever.
Doing this brough me back from only 7MB of internal space to 26
The only real kicker is I don't have a partition now I believe, but in my market downloads says all my apps are installed but none are in the app drawer, can't be found in manage applications, etc etc etc.
I'm in a real mess right now and I don't really know what to do, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling some apps but I get an error over not having sufficient space.
It's getting late and I'm grumpy, hopefully I'll have some good replied and help when I check in the morning, thanks to everyone is anyone can help me out and goodnight.
Everything on my sd card got deleted too, this is absolutely terrible, especially because I was aiming to backup my sdcard yesterday and didn't. ahah ****!!!
What SPL were you on? Did you try downloading the update again? Which 1.6 ROM was it?
If you have Amon RA's recovery you could wipe, format your entire card and try installing a 1.6 ROM again.
You need to completely repartition your SD card.
I formatted my sd card after installing Dwangs ROM, however I originally formatted it wrong so I got the black screen. Before I formated the SD card I had downloaded a bunch of apps.
Now that I've formatted the sd card all of my apps are gone. When I go into the Market to re-download them the market thinks I still have them installed.
I went to Manage Applications and cleared the cache of the Market App.
I then sorted for 3rd party apps and sure enough they still all show up under that filter but they are all 0.00Kb and when I click on them the phone just says App no found.
Anything else I should try beyond a whipe and re-install the Rom?
Yeah I had that happen too. I just went ahead a re-installed the rom, but I'm pretty sure if you pushed the .apks to /system/sd your phone would read them properly. They would have to be named exactly as they were before though - "com.handcent.nextsms.apk" for example, and not just "Handcent.apk."
this is happening with my lock screen widget, i try to add it it's not there i look in applications under settings and it's not listed, i go to market and in my downloads its there but i can't open or uninstall i've flashed 3 times already do i need a wipe? i have my apps on sd but i'm not trying to install them from market again
You can manually edit out the problem apps entries in /data/system/packages.xml
Nevermind i fixed it...just did a nandroid restore and then flashed cm4.2.4 then my theme and it's there and working now, strange
So I have failed...
I did an upgrade from Cyanogen 4.2.7.1 to 4.2.8 by using CM Updater, as always, and didn't bother with performing a backup or wiping.
This upgrade procedure used to work without any problems, but now I find my G1 telling me "The process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" and I'm not able to do much before the message pops up.
I can receive phone calls, but other than that I'm pretty much helpless.
What I have done so far, is to re-flash both with the same image, and 4.2.6 which I had on the sd card.
I have also tried the fix_permissions command, and the check/fix ext, but nothing has helped me so far.
What I was hoping for, was that somehow I could be able to at least start Mybackup Pro to perform a (last) backup of my messages (SMS/MMS) and my phone log, before I wipe and install 4.2.8 again, hopefully with better luck.
Or, is it possible to perform a "manual backup" of these items by accessing the sd card directly? I have an Apps partition, does any of these Items belong there where I can make a copy?
Or is it possible to flash an older Cyanogen ROM that would more likely work without the acore error, and let me run Mybackup?
My computer is running Linux (Ubuntu), I have no ADB access, but I am able to mount the sd card via the G1 (the notification bar is possible to access, and it seems that any thirdparty program that I may succeed in launching will not be affected by the acore error, but I have tried 30 times to pull up the app list to start mybackup but I'm hit with the acore error each time...).
Any hints are highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Christopher
I'm getting the same thing ...acore
This is my first post in a forum but long time reader of xda. I don't know the common lingo but know how to get around to do things to my goofy little phone. I did a google search on CM 4.2.8 and the acore error that brought me here.
I'm getting the same error even though I'm using MT3G. I was getting this error back in the past couple CM versions, kept doing an CM updates thinking next version would clean things up. The acore error continued on making calls, opening browser, opening market or etc. Eventually FC started happening. These occurances always happenned 8 to 20 hours after update/install of CM and light use of my phone.
Last night I decided to do a CM clean install to what the CM wiki or CM xda guided me to perform (flashed 1.5 nbh, FlashRec, 1.6 base and CM 4.2.8). I didn't bring back any old apps since I didn't have anything worth saving. Phone was running great untill making a call this afternoon ...got that dreaded "The process android.process.acore has stopped..." message again. I'm going to try another one of my older micro sd cards thinking my class 6 PNY might be crapping out. Hopefully someone might have some more information for us before I try this route. Anyone please help and guide us to the right information to correct this. Thanks, Greg.
This is proper step, do this when you get the chance..
1.Wipe everything
2.Install 1.6ADP Htc
3.Install cyan right after
4.reboot
5.should goto recovery again, now reboot once more
6.bam-back in action
Does anyone know if it is possible, with a Cyanogen ROM, to make a copy of a few system databases just by taking the SD card and inserting it into a card reader of a computer?
My SD card has three partitions: data, apps, swap.
I need a backup of
* messages (sms/mms)
* phone log (incoming/outgoing calls)
* browser bookmarks
If I wipe my phone, I will loose these... :-(

Or by booting into Recovery, and enter Terminal - can I somehow manually copy these data files from the phone to the SD card, and then restore them after a full "re-flash" with wipe and the works?

I was finally able to run MyBackupPro by using the search function - on the 15th try or something, MyBackupPro finally showed up as an application finding and it ran without problems. So I have now made a successful backup of the most important databases. I tried to start a few other applications by searching for them as well, but they never showed up in the results. Oh well, I guess I will just perform a wipe and reflash of latest Cyanogen ROM, and then start re-installing applications again.

Did this work for you? I have a G1 with same ver of CyanogenMod that started giving me the android.process.acore error to when trying to place a call. Wonder if there is a issues with Cyanogen's 4.2.8 & 4.2.8.1 mods...
Hi all
My Galaxy S went nuts. Something is very wrong with it. I will try to provide as much details as possible.
Today i was using it as usual, sending messages on facebook, reading email... and suddenly my mail client freaked out and force-closed. This has never happened before (i use K9 mail), so i just restarted it, only to see that there is no more messages in inbox. Trying to "load more" got force close again.
So i thought, OK, **** happens - clear data, uninstall, reinstall. However, when i cleared the data something weird begun to happen. Apps started force closing one by one.
OK, i thought, **** happens - rebooting the phone should help. Only that it didn't help - apps still force closed.
OK, i thought, **** happens - clear data of every app, uninstall and reinstall. I got backups anyway. So i cleared all the data, uninstalled all i had and rebooted. However, apps still force closed, and when i went to app manager - surprise surprise! - all the apps i uninstalled a cluple of minutes ago were still there.
Now this was already kinda freaky, but OK, **** happens - i rebooted into clockwork (i have voodoo lagfix) and wiped the hell out of my phone. Rebooted - but the apps i uninstalled were still there, even after full wipe! Now i escapes me how exactly ANY app (let alone all apps) could survive wipe to factory defaults.
Just to be sure that i'm not dreaming, i rebooted to clockwork once again, wiped everything two times and restored a backup from a month ago. The apps were still there.
I am going to try disabling lagfix as a last resort, but for now i am out of ideas, as this is clearly way out of line with what could be considered normal.
Now to the details of what i have installed - froyo, voodoo lagfix, superuser, busybox blablabla, some common apps like skype, facebook, astro, poweramp player, launcher pro, k9 mail, newsrob, blogaway, easyprofiles, pansi sms, mapdroyd, google shopper, qr droid. That's pretty much it. I have one of the custom battery icon mods that could be found here on boards.
Any ideas about what is wrong and how to make it right?
I cant help you with all the poltergeist sh*t on your phone but if it were mine id copy stuff to pc then full wipe and reflash.
regards
id recommend to flash Eclair 2.1 with partition check than to Froyo so that ud have a "clean" rom to play with
cheers
Problems never walk alone - i would, but my laptop has died a week ago...
However, i think i found the cause - looks like for some reason, some of the partitions (including, apparently, internal sd card and data partition) mount as read only. This could explain all that is happening. Is there a way to correcr this without reflashing?

go into recovery and fix permissions , if that doesnt work then as said before
I have tried all possible solutions - from restoring from backups i made earlier, and down to flashing back to different ROMs - namely JPM, JPC, JM8. With repartitioning and without repartitioning.
Moreover, when i mount the SD card on the PC - i can delete files (well, it looks that way) but then when i reboot and mount again - everything is back to the state it was before.
Now i can't even boot my phone. Sometimes it can't mount stl10, sometimes it can't mount stl11. I went through all the solutions that were mentioned in the threads related to these errors. Also, when i format all the partitions (with voodoo's clockwork) it says everything went OK - i "can" reformat everything including internal SD card, repartition it etc. but then it goes back to what it was, and phone doesn't boot any ROM.
Any ideas? Can this be a hardware problem?
EDIT:
i tried to flash latest stock gingerbread ROM, and after installing a clockwork from here it boots but still doesn't work - starts force closing, can't load anything.
Formatting partitions with clockwork does not induce any errors, nor there are any errors mentioned at boot. however, even unmounting, formatting and mounting internal SD card doesn't affect it.
after flashing stock rom it says it cannot mount /data partition
EDIT 2: still no luck. i can't do anything with SD card. maybe there is some hardcore way with adb that i can try? like manually fscking up partitions so that i force reformat or something like that?
i have been tinkering with my phone and now i am certain that the root of the problem is that the internal SD card went into read-only mode - and it doesn't get fixed with any sort of permission fixing, repartitioning or flashing ROMs. i've searched some more on this topic (now that i know what the problem is) and found that on one was ever able to successfully fix this problem. i just hope that the samsung guys fix it for free because it doesn't look like a user problem...
thankssssss
Samsung accepted it on warranty, and they agreed it is a hardware problem.
What is alarming is that this is not the first time (as i said i found a bunch of threads with similar problems), and apparently it can also happen on galaxy tab (i seem to remember stumling upon a similar thread in tab section, and IIRC galaxy tab has hardware similar to SGS). This means that it can easily happen again.
So whoever is reading this thread - save yourself some time, don't bother fiddling around with odin and go straight to samsung customer service, they'll fix it for free provided you bought your phone less than 2 years prior.
.... okay nvm
Did a search but could not find this issue and cannot post on dev thread for ROM so i posting here if wrong place i sorry.
OK the issue, after updating to 3.0 of ultra i cant update any apps as it keeps spitting out "Insufficient Storage Available" which is a crock of ..........as i have 1.57GB out of a total of 5.37GB available on internal plus external sd card with 12GB available but not relevant as apps on internal with 1.57GB available. Have updated to 3.1.5 but still the same and also unable to install any apps, yet i have less apps on it now than prior the 3.0 as i was generally running under a GB space before. Memory running at about 300MB out of 840MB
Any help or pointers or criticism for not searching far and wide enough to find a answer gracefully accepted

Clear playstore datas in settings/apps/all
Also reboot a few times, wipe dalvik cache and cache.
No Joy
Thank you kind Sir for your superb roms and your help.
I did as you said but am still having the same problem.
Anything else i can try?
Have you made full wipe before installing eXistenZ??
Have you made backups via CWM Recovery before??
For example I have made a backup with CWM recovery which wasn't seen by other recoveries or system himself.
I had to install CWM recovery once again and only this one seen two backups which take me about more than 2GB internal storage.
After fresh install (with full wipes, also internal storage) fresh eXistenZ + 22 apps which I have installed after I have 4.05GB free space on internal storage and no problems with install anything.
Narrowing it down a bit

Hi thank you for the reply,
I have not used CWM to create backup's i have only ever used Titanium but the issue is slightly different as the amount of free space is correct.
I think i have narrowed it down somewhat as i am able to install apps from Play store that have never been on the phone before the issue appears to be apps that are already on the phone can not be updated, i have uninstalled ones needing updating except for Chrome and NDR Utils as it wont allow me to uninstall them so i have frozen them for time being, i then rebooted and tried to reinstall them but even with them uninstalled it is still spitting out the "insufficient Storage" error
so my thinking is something is being left from uninstalling that is causing the issue as like i said above i can install anything else from Play store that has not been on phone before, for example i installed links2sd after it spat out the insufficient storage error for a previously installed app i tried installing again i have plenty of internal storage available for apps and it letting me install stuff that not been on phone before but wont let me update or reinstall stuff on or has been on phone before.
After doing some searching i found others having similar issues with different phones and roms etc but thus far all the solutions to those have not worked for me.
I know i could just easily wipe and start a fresh but to me thats defeating the object and takes so long even with all the backups etc, it just a real PITA to start afresh so i sooner search, read, beg, ask etc etc and exhaust every other avenue before admitting defeat and wiping.
