Would it be possible to get the samsung galaxy s musicplayer.apk which can be found in the galaxy s forum, fitted on our magics?
hmm, why don't you try it? then you can share to all of us
I would be interested if this is possible, however I heard that it won't be easy because the Samsung Galaxy S' music player draws some of it's menu GUI from touchwiz. So without touchwiz I don't think it's possible to do that.

But TouchWiz has already been ported, isn't it? (Or at least, I have had the Launcher in my Evo)

I'm not sure if the touchwiz launcher is the same as the touchwiz on samsung galaxy s. Someone should try putting the samsung galaxy s music player apk on their phone along with the touchwiz launcher and see if it works. I have a feeling it might not.
The launcher contains only the elements needed by it, nothing more. When combined with a right ROM it'll give full Galaxy experience!
Bump.
Anyone knows if Galaxy's ROM could work when modified with Magic? The framework works well, but other parts..
I'm not sure if it can or not. You should put up a thread to request someone port the Samsung Galaxy S's ROM to the HTC Magic/Sapphire/etc.
I've been trying to find the htc music app for froyo for a while now. you can get it for donut and eclair if you search the forums for "htc music". I have it installed on CM 6 but it constantly force closes.
if anyone has any info on how to get it to run on froyo ROMs please let me know

I spent about an hour yesterday getting those godawful widgets off my Vibrant and installing the stock DeskClock and CalendarProvider. Anyway I think you would need to be running TwLauncher (TouchWiz) to use these widgets. You also cannot have the stock calendar and the TW calendar at the same time - you must fully uninstall one to install the other.
Not sure if these can be ported but here they are if anyone wants to give it a shot
Probably need touchwiz framework to get it going.... wouldn't be impossible, but most likely not simple either
added touchwiz framework
Not sure if that's whats needed to get codecs working on NS i really have no clue really but music play itself IMO is really good, much better than stock
So does this work?

no at the moment
Since it has only been one day, I am sure this will get ported. I also hope that Samsung Media Hub is ported over while waiting for Netflix!
At the very least it would be great to get the codecs. SGS plays everything under the sun.

Bumping this request because compared to my Galaxy S, the stock camera, music player, and video player on Gingerbread are pathetic. Anybody hear of anything on the Galaxy S apps working on the Nexus S? (seriously considering going back to my SGS)
Bump, all stock media players are just awful.
I'm looking into the same thing.. In addition to the Player I'd like to port the Clock apk and the dual-clock widget.
The SGS Clock apk is very handy with world clock/timer/stop watch in addition to the Alarm clock it self.
If anyone can do so?
Here I attach the apks
i also like the sgs calculator better. you could minimize the numbers and see your history of what you've calculated.

Its long been known that porting any of the stock Samsung apps is completely impossible without the entire TouchWiz framework. If you are desperate for these apps you should work on having a port of TouchWiz for the Nexus S however, and I hate to have to be frank like this, I wouldn't hold your breath. The general consensus seems to be that there aren't devs interested in porting TouchWiz.
That HTC Sense Live Wallpaper is amazing, any ports of it to Galaxy S? It won't run when I try.
Thanks!
I don't think there is. if I'm wrong someone should def hook it up with a link. lol
I know they are actively trying to port Sense (as in the whole thing) to the Captivate but have hit some roadblocks.
If it's just a live wallpaper.. maybe someone in the HTC forums will be kind enough to give you the .apk for it?
But... like everything Sense related it is probably not a standard application and completely proprietary.
Yeah, it needs the framework. But I tried porting that, still doesn't run. Somehow they managed to port it to the Nexus One CyanogenMod ROM, but that APK doesn't work for the Galaxy S.
Although pure Google is always the way to go, I was wondering if some aspects of the Galaxy Tab's TouchWiz would make its way to the Xoom. I suspect it could but only rooted Xoom's. The advanced multitasking and some of the widgets look decent.
Thoughts?
i say if you want touchwiz then sale xoom and get a GTab 10.1.
But I also believe anything is possible with the devs we have here. Who knows what we will see when source code is released.
custom ui? that sounds to me that when android 3.2 or 4.0 comes out people on the galaxy tab 10.1 will have to wait 6 months until they pimp back the ui to whatever the update will be
i would love to have Mini Apps on my xoom. it's a greet idea from samsung.

I agree, in fact this was the only feature of Touchwiz I really found interesting.

I say, I love Android because you can customise it and it has a great developer scene. What is this forum for if not for these kind of challenges. I would love the mini apps on my xoom. Hell, all the time the Android side shouts about how great the multitasking is and that Ios does not have the real deal...but seriously, as a normal user you do not see a big difference (am I defending IOS....good lord...!). Mini Apps would be a great way to rectify that. And Google should have those kind of stuff in stock in the first place. And the updated Samsung Browser is supposed to be blazingly fast.
So yes, if any of the developers here would port parts of it, it would be greatly appreciated.
I would also love to have the Touchwiz UI ported to the Xoom. If not the whole thing than some features at least. If anyone can help with this it I would love it as well.
yup love to see touchwiz us on the xoom
Hi,
Has anyone ported the S3 apps to our beloved I9000?
I searched and only came up with this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1662272
For some reason no one responded in this thread so it doesn't seem really good...
I am really interested in the S3 to-do list and would love if someone could point me to wherever needed, or alternatively, if someone could port it...
Thank you.
Interested in the music player

As Samsung Apps have part of their code included in the twframework and their widgets aren't available in other launchers, I don't think that anyone is going to port that
