Hi everybody,
Im looking for an navigation app, like tomtom, but my problem is, the copilot and telenav are not avaliable to me, on my country, so, im searching for an app that works with offline maps, hopefully ported from another plataform, maybe winMO.
If someone know one... plz post it. Thx in advance.
(Sorry by my english )
By "not available", do you mean not available for purchase? Or do you mean that there are no maps for your area?
If simply not available for purchase, use market enabler.

I recommend sygic too, I use it with BR maps and it's ok.
Ndrive works too, and it's a lot smoother than sygic, but the final version is not out yet.
I looked for every navigation software available for android and only cygic and ndrive works in BR. And yes, they are expensive
there are waze.com, I don't know if BR maps already includet, but averyone can edit and record every street all over the world, its open for worldwide, it's free, open source, read more at waze.com
Hi,
i know that this can be a stupid question. I have a touch diamond and now i have also a magic.
On my diamond i've installed IGO8 and it work perfectly, now i'd like to know why i can't find any navigation software for android...

Look for Copilot Live or Sygic Mobile Maps.
whats your favorite one? And how can we try it out
I just use google maps. Works like a charm. Figured there was no sense in having multiple apps when one couple do it all. I have used htc nav, telenav, nav.

I like the Igo Motonav, but there is also about to be a Navigon release soon. Both very good, and "pretty" GUI's.
I like google maps for searching/finding locations, but when I want to navigate garmin is better for me. Anyone had any experience with the bing navi?
I use the google navigation software. Download it, then download the text to speech app, and you have a free version of the garmin/tomtom.
It does what i need, and for this price, I won't look elsewhere.
EDIT: As mentioned below - the disadvantage to Google Maps and Navigation is you need a 3G connection for updating maps and data.
I like copilot
It works well and it works even when you don't have cellular connection

I'll third this one. I've used CoPilot on WinMo, iPhone and now Android and I have to say it like it the best.
Previously I've used TomTom, Navigon, Garmin, xGPS and the Google Apps but I keep going back to CoPilot!

I like the offline cache thing too, but the map support is pretty outdated. I was in a road probably 2 minutes from my house, the name of the street shown is probably 10 years ago.
Are there any apps give turn by turn and can take external maps (like Garmin)? I don't live in an area that is supported by Copilot (or really anybody). I have found that OpenStreetMaps makes usable maps down here which I had working great with Garmin on my WinMo, but I feel like I'm kind of out of luck on Android.
quick question, are these gps nav programs crippled by the captivate gps?

Yea, I would use google navs too but the gps problem is too great, even with the fix I cant get a lock while driving. I wanted to know if 3rd party programs perhaps was better at picking up gps signal than google navs
With the current state of the gps on the sgs line of phones, I find the best navigation tools are a map, or asking for directions.

Unfortunate, but funny.
I like nav apps that store the maps on the phone since I've done a lot of driving in remote parts of Canada and the West; no cell or data in places.
I had Garmin XT on my old WinMobile phone. However the product is discontinued now.
I'm using Sygic Mobile Maps 10 and so far like it. sygic_dot_com
all you guys that say you like garmin or copilot or google nav should give ndrive a test. i used to love copilot then one of my friends introduced me to ndrive and since then i loved it!

It's nice, but is HUGE in size. Over two gigs for a map update? Ugh.

Can someone tell me what is exactly wrong with the GPS?
I live in Utah and I ve been using it without issues....just today for example I was testing the voice thingy so I said my home address and in no time the navigation was giving me directions on how to get there so reading all this about the GPS is very confusing to me.
Thanks
Hello guys,
Can you recomend to me the best navigation program for i9000?
The coverage of the maps should have mandatory Romania(from where am I) and of course other neighbour countries.
For instance I checked Navigon and on their site is written they cover only 10% of Romania.
I saw that there is iGo my Way for Android but I am not able to downlod it for trying as Navigon for instance.
Thanks,
BR,
Mircea
Well the only services that fully cover romania are Google Maps, Garmin and Nokia maps.
I like NDrive, is maybe not the best Navigation Programm but i would try it. Maybe the coverage is not so bad for Romania. You can download a trial version over the market.
try waze! its awesome
Copilot. Romanian map is quite good
Hi,
I'm using motonav with igo maps and is working pretty well.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
copilot has the best interface. motonav/igo is much accurate though.
Ndrive plus the have a new build for Androids with new maps.
What about the Samsung Navigation app? I use Maps and CoPilot depending on my signal and love it.

Hi Mircea,
For our country you can use google maps as well. They are very detailed. For external countries personally i use Navigon and works decent or you can buy Igo for android, from my last experiences with igo, the Romanian map is well done.
Anybody knows good Nav with Thailand map?
using CoPilot
I use copilot, great nav app.

Great thread. Any recommendation for those in Sweden and would work well within Europe as well?

I second that!
What is wrong with th ebuilt in Google nav? I don't get it, why people want a different app...
- The maps are always going to be the most up to date available, since they are live.
- The maps along your route are all pre-cached so OTA data use is not an issue either
- The turn by turn directions work great
- You have street view photos at your destination to help you find the exact place, no other app does that

I have tested CoPilot, NDrive and Navigon, and in my opinion NDrive has the best/easiest interface so far, and its working very well in galaxy. No problem with Navigon or Copilot but in bouth the interface was crappy. I dont like them att all. When TomTom isnt available for android I use NDrive in my Galaxy with Skandinavia map. But everybody has it own taiste about the interface.

I agree that google nav is pretty winful, but it has far from universal coverage. To my knowledge it is US/UK only, and the UK one is in beta, and although definitely very usable, it still has some problems, hence why those in the EU might need a paid app.
TBH if more satnav programs had trial versions then I'd be happy to pay for an app having discovered that it is genuinely better, but it takes a few days at least to work out if your satnav feels good to you, and after that theres no refund *sigh*.
Hi all,
Copilot seems very popular on various forums and as I await on my Samsung galaxy tab just looking for feedback on these two softwares and comparisons if anyone has used both. Not many reviews on the Navigon GPS software. It looks good although it's pricey. I will be using the North American versions. The Navigon has a back up camera which is a nice feature, besides that both softwares seem pretty similar aside from price. Both versions can be used as wifi only, only draw back of that is missing out on the live traffic updates.
I use Sygic aura 3 beta and its the best for me. Navigon was ok but a bit basic.

You need 3G for this to work correctly correct since you cannot download the maps to the tab?
