Hi,
Completely newb question I know, but I can't remember.
How to ssh into the nexus device?
Running CM nightlys
EDIT: just got quickssd from the market, but sure there was a free way of doing it.
Free way consists of running the same dropbear client, but manually. Dropbear is included in CM - but at least on CM5 it was crippled somewhat.

A very good vnc solution that is *actually* useable....It's beyond me as to why this isnt on the market (maybe its the $25?)
Play around with it...its quite fun...
Where's the link?
Is this it: http://code.google.com/p/android-vnc-viewer/ ?
Android VNC Viewer
So last night i saw a post on googles own vnc viewer which is coded to work on the g1 and the android emulator.
Well, I forwarded my ports correctly and setup my server accordingly. I am using TightVNC as well as UltraVNC at seperate times.
I am able to establish a connection through all services on my g1, (3g edge and wifi). Only when I arrive on the connection
I am greeted with only a black screen. I switch to mouse control on my g1 by pressing trackball and can see me moving the pc mouse from my g1.
So my connection is working flawlessly but my only error is that i cant see anything on my g1.
Is there a special mirror driver i must install??? somebody please help me for i use remote desktop as a part of everyday life
Latest androidVNC viewer
As long as none of these are shown as released on http://code.google.com/p/android-vnc-viewer/ I'll keep compiling and placing them here. I'll edit this post with the current latest so it's easy for everyone to download without spending the time getting eclipse up and working.
r17 allows saving of multiple servers for quick-connect profiles.
I do not know if you need to uninstall the previous version before installing this one. I always uninstall before installing the new one with a project that changes as much as this one has recently.
Thanks buddy!
Thanks so much! I hope this app gets the development it deserves. This, and an rDesktop app are needed badly!

Android-VNC Viewer Compile?
How do I go about compiling the source code for the Android-VNC Viewer located at (http://code.google.com/p/android-vnc-viewer/).
I looked around and seen a post that said I would have to compile it on linux / mac... I do have Ubuntu setup on this machine as a separate OS but I'd rather not boot into Linux just to do that...
Anyone run native Linux that can compile the APK and add a link? If not then I will as long as I know how
just download the apk they have for download and use that.
The APK that is on there is far outdated compared to where the project currently is. For instance, there is a post that links r17's release on it which allows you to save settings, change color mode and a few other nice features... The current build is up to r28 now so I'm sure better support and newer features were added since then.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3199765#post3199765
I think that build is only a few days old.
r31 is now the latest and the developers have released it directly:
http://android-vnc-viewer.googlecode.com/files/androidVNC_build090125.apk
They compiled it this time around so I didn't have to
Thank you! Cant wait to try it. =)
Hmmm, I tried the linked apk and it won't install. The older version still works.
I checked out the trunk but it is the same as the previous release.
I checked out the antlersoft branch but it doesn't compile: package com.antlersoft.android.dbimpl does not exist
Has anyone else tried the latest version apk or compiling?
I've tried it, and it won't connect for me. However, I haven't tried any previous versions, so I may have it set up incorrectly.
The R17 build won't work for me, so chalk it up to that. Or my stupidity.
Well I downloaded it to my laptop and then installed via adb and it worked.
Usually I download with steel and install from the sdcard. But that didn't work this time for some reason. (new JF1.41 or new vnc or user error?)
This wouldn't install for me from the sd card. Any ideas?
Yeah it wont install for me either, I tried both AppsInstaller from SDcard and adb - neither were successful... I noticed the build is now at 33, any chance we can get someone to compile it? Maybe the issue was fixed but not repacked?
There's an "official" build/apk out on http://code.google.com/p/android-vnc-viewer/. The filename calls is 090125 which, I assume, means January 25th I downloaded it and tried to install it from my phone (not via adb) and it failed to install for me (BTW, so does the -17 version in the first post). Could be that the key is installing via adb, I don't know. I'll try it later when I have a chance but I thought everyone owuld be interested in the update.
I reported this as an issue on the project, however after fully uninstalling the previous app and downloading the file directly from my G1 it installed successfully. I did not use the SDcard / AppsInstaller or ADB - I just used the traditional method of going to the site on my phone and installing it from there, after I uninstalled the previous version.
Hopefully this works for you guys as well.
Hi everyone...
I'm going back to China for few days, as you know, China got a crazy internet censorship, I'm sure a lot of applications such as twitter/facebook/news/weather/google search won't work in China, so I used Orbot under Android 2.1 before, works very well.
I'm using Nexus one, and recently installed Froyo, and I got few problems when using Orbot.
When I install Orbot I got a problem that orbot wouldn't start, cause of "binaries are not installed", so I manually uncompressed the APK and put all files under /assets into /data/data/org.torproject.android folder in order to get orbot running.
It works~ But I'm still not able to change any settings, everytime I change settings, it freezes and I have to force stop it.
So I goto terminal, changed all files and folders ' permission under /data/data/org.torproject.android to 777.
But it still doesn't work, I still can't change any settings.
Actually I allowed it to run as root before, but in terminal I see these processes:
/data/data/org.torproject.android/tor -f /data/data/
/data/data/org.torproject.android
/data/data/org.torproject.android:remote
/data/data/org.torproject.android/privoxy /data/data
All of them are not running as root, they're running as "app_113"
I thought they must be run as root in order to transparently proxy all data.
I was using Orbot under Cyanogem 5.0.6/5.0.7 before, and didn't get this problem.
Did anyone get Orbot running under Froyo? Or Could anyone please suggest any solution to this problem?
Thanks a lot indeed!
Hey guys,
Just stumbled upon the way to get Orbot working on Froyo.
It's not too tough, just go grab the new Firefox Mobile beta...
Once you've installed it, go to the add-ons menu and get "Proxy Mobile" from ProjectGuardian.org
Restart firefox mobile, connect to tor through orbot, run a check using firefox, and voila! It works!

Perhaps these might help some of the devs here.
The installer helper app didn't seem to do anything (as expected since this is for an Archos) but maybe ripping it apart to see what it's doing may help.
I downloaded the apps from within apps.zip as well but the only ones that would install was media uploader and maps. The rest gave parse errors.

This would be great if it work for our device. I shall look into it but I have close to no experience with android programming

I have a (speculative) feeling that the version of Android included with the Archos tablets may be more complete than what ships on the Nooks. Still, this may be helpful. I'm 'bouts to tear into it.
Interesting to see this thread started today. Last night I found the gapps for Archos and tried a few things but to no avail. The error that I was getting was that it only ran on xxx. I can't remember the exact wording. But someone that actually knows how to read/write software code might be able to make something out of this Archos package.
This works for Archos because the '/system/app' directory has aliases to the '/data/test/froyo/system' folder. Basically, Archos sorta knew we'd manually install the Market.
If the Nook has something similar, it could work, but you'd have to see what writable directory the Nook has if they even do this like Archos.
If they don't have the files like this prefixed with a 0 then you'd probably need full root to get the market going. However, I'm not root expert to guide Nook users nor do I have a Nook... (=

Hey all, does anyone have a good way to backup apps from the G1 and put them on the streak 7? Google claims to sync backup things.. but seems to only track apps "bought"
Now I have regular adb pull backups from my G1 so I have the .apk files of my apps. No issue there. But putting them on the streak 7. That would be a new one for me, unless adb push and then the folder will work the same in a safe way that wont mess up the device.
However I do realize that may mean some apps should not be on the streak 7.. (Example I doubt Power manager is needed on the streak 7 or?)
Anyways anyone have some advice? Thanks. =)
I just logged into my Gmail account on my S7 and everything from my G2 loaded up all by itself.
Yea thats the G2, which I am starting to think newer android versions sync up the list better. The G1 is on 1.6 enoms rom.
Im thinking a adb push would work, but trying to see what other ways others have used so far.

If you have root acces, get root explorere or linda file manager, go to \system\apps, then try to move the apks to the sd card, and do the reverse on the DS7
Noticed i cannot get ssh tunnel to work for global or specific app proxys on any lollipop devices wondering if there was an ideal app you guys would recommend for nexus 6 that would accomplish this same thing?
Used to work great on my previous devices from last i recall prior to moving to a lollipop device
Looking to specifically proxy some apps via ssh tunnel and rest go through normal unencrypted session via carrier ip
Looked into proxydroid and connectbot but haven't seem to get them to work together must be missing something
seems this is a known issue with iptables and ssh proxying in lollipop on some other similiar apps
https://code.google.com/p/sshtunnel/issues/detail?id=193
Would gladly pay for an add free app that does this on lollipop for any devs out there looking for an app idea or can point me to one i missed which offers this
Thanks in advance
Update:
seen this after more searching looks handy gonna give it a ry but it would be nice to have an all in one app for this

I have posted a solution and modded apk for now, until the problem will be resolved. Check it out.
Try mine, uses autossh with openssh:
https://github.com/lbdroid/Android_SSH
https://github.com/lbdroid/Android-Binaries/blob/master/Android_SSH.apk
A few points;
1) requires root (at the moment, still in dev...)
2) still in dev (could be instabilities...)
3) no ads, no tracking... seriously.. no nonsense.

IT WORKS!!!
thank you very much.
Modded apk not working on Nexus 6 running Android 5.1.1
Using Connect not +ProxyDroid
Hopefully next release of sshtunnel will solve current issues
it´s the first time im using this tool... im happy that i found your solution/fix for lolipop.. it works perfect on any website/host in the web.. but i got still a problem..
the routing seems to route everything through the tunnel.. except things that are adressing other services on the same host as the ssh server host..
for example: if there is a webserver or mailaserver on the same host as the ssh server.. the traffic to those mail or webserver are not going through the tunnel..
is this a common problem with ssh-tunnel app?
using ProxyDroid on-top, fixes this.. with ProxyDroid also the mailserver (etc..) traffic is going through the tunnel.. but i would prefer to use only one tool.. not two tools..
any suggestions?
it's just a binary compatibility problem you can extract iptables and redsocks binary from patched version or from anywhere else and copy them to your data folder it will solve the problem

Yes you are right.
-1 copy/overwrite iptables, redsocks from proxydroid to:
data/data/org.sshtunnel folder.
-2 chmod these two files for the owner/root!
