I was running CM6 RC2 at the time, which comes with ROM Manager installed as a system app. I have most of my apps, including ROM Mgr, set to auto update. Well, along the way ROM manager failed to update for some reason, but now every time I try to go to my Downloads tab in the Market, I catch a brief glimpse of ROM Mgr attempting to download, but then it FCs the Market and I get the notification in the bar that ROM Manager download was unsuccessful.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I can't go to my Downloads tab at all to look at, update, or uninstall any other apps because it always instantly FCs trying to update ROM Manager.
Btw, I'm now running the 08/06 CM6 nightly.

Hello
I've just encountered a weird problem: Market is force closing upon install or update.
Here's my set-up:
DangerSPL, AmonRA latest recovery, CM 4.2.11.1 with 10mb CFS hack, Apps2SD on class 6 card, Various MetaMorph tweaks
Everything ran great since the rom came out, no errors, kernel panics or anything like that.
Today, I decided to install an app from the Market (Call Waiting Configurations) and update one of the existing apps (Pure Calendar widget). Both of them downloaded fine but Market force-closed once it tried to install them. I've tried: Reboot, Fix permissions from terminal, Clear Market cache
but problem persists.
The only thing that I did this morning was installing "Blur Animations' via MetaMorph which makes changes to framework-res.apk. Could that be my problem?
At any rate, I've ran a "Log collector" and submitted it to paste bin

May be someone can figure this out.
Thanks in advance.
Since I've updated from modaco's frf72 r18 rom to the latest r19 rom I can't install any apps... not just from the market, but directly from my sd too.
I ideally would like to go back to the stock rom with no mods.

I have factory reset/wiped and reverted to the FRF83 stock rom - and now the majority of apps install. The only apps that won't install are Google apps - like Google Sky Map and Google Earth, and the Mod Install Location app which I really need. Any explanation for this?
I've been having random issues running the same ROM but only apps I try to install from the Market. They'll download then just sit there. Sometimes they will install and sometimes they won't.

I've been getting the exact same thing on FRF50, FRF72 and now FRF83!
I can manually install from SDcard 'Download' when the Market install process stalls after download, but this obviously doesn't then update the app status on Market 'My Downloads'.
I've done the usual clear data form the Market app, reboot & login method to no avail. Very frustrating
Any ideas much appreciated!
This happens to me with apps from my SD card too.

I'm have a Motorola Droid A855 (Droid 1) running CyanogenMod 6.1.2 with a Slayer 2.6.32.9 1200 MHz kernel. It's been running just fine.
I have ROM Manager 2.5.0.9 installed and have been running it for a while; weeks, or months.
Recently, I visited the market app and checked on downloads. I see that a ROM Manager download is in the Currently downloading section and reporting "Starting download..."; for ever.
I have rebooted. I have killed the market app. Always the ROM Manager app is "Starting download..." and never makes progress and never goes away.
Any idea what could be causing this?
I did notice that ROM Manager has had recent updates, but I generally un-check the auto-update box on all apps. Occasionally one gets through with the auto-update set, but I doubt that ROM Manager was one of those. And, who cares, it should not sit in the Starting download state for ever.
Oh, and this is on WiFi, or on Cellular.
Thanks for any insights,
Dave
When I have this problem, clearing the data for the Market App fixes it. You can do this through Settings->Application->Market->Clear Data
I was also experiencing problems with updating from the market, and found out that I needed to clear out the android_secure folder on my sd card to have less than 231 MB of info in it. I had used Titanium backup to force some apps to sd card and it put doubles in that folder. The market must see space in that folder in order to complete either the download and/or install. After I cleared that folder out I was able to use the market as usual.
My OS is Froyo 2.2.1 installed in a rooted custom ROM.
I installed a clean Custom ROM after a crash, but I can't install any application from the Android Market or appk still remained in the \mnt\sdcard.
The Unknown sources is checked!
I read in many forums that to fix the problem, I have to clear the cache and the data from the Market application using Settings --> Applications --> Manage Applications --> Market appl. The problem is that "Manage Applications" doesn't stop to show that it is "Computing" therefore it doesn't let me clean the cache.
Anybody – any idea? Is there another way to fix it?

I sent a mail with the same question to Android Market Support and they refused to answer because I use a custom ROM.
I read in some place that to fix the problem I have to do a Factory Reset. Actually I have done it before I installed the ROM. It seems that I have done something wrong after the new ROM was installed. One of the first things I have done was to add an account [the same I use with the market] and then I tried to download and install applk from the Market and it's stuck.
Any help?
did you try uninstalling any market updates i had the same problem but when uninstalled the market update it worked
or try installing another version of the market through cwm
issue: updating, downloading by playstore
ROM: cm7.2 nightly 16/9/2012
description: while updating or downloading apps, they are stuck on some point so that I have to kill the playstore the relaunch it to continue.
I have deleted Vending.apk marketupdater.apk

com.andorid.veningupdater
what to do?
This happened right after you flashed the rom? If so,reflash
If it was working fine before, then need more information

Maybe something wrong with download manager app, have you tried downloading anything else other than apps or updates?
the problem occurred because of Gemini App
