The slimmed version of the rom is pretty well removed. There r a few others that can come out. Its a lot smaller than the full version at least
im mostly worried about all the htc stuff and the sense launcher..but I still want my google stuff to work Ill have to be more careful this time as I somehow somehow lost gmail and all my contacts. is all the sense and htc stuff taken out of the slimmed version? all I use is launcherpro.

This is the first time I have ever been near or used an Android phone. I got my i9000 a few days ago and have started messing about with widgets etc. I have been reading this forum for a few months prior to owning an Android phone as technology interests me. I was following a home screen thread and realized I had to root my Galaxy S to be able to take screenshots. Then I found the One Click Lag Fix app that was on the Android market. The lag was something that was really bothering me and now its running really smooth.
So now I have root what else should I do to my phone?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
A couple apps I use that need root access: mybackup pro and root explorer.
Have fun
I'll be sure to check them out. Anyone else?

This is what I thought too. Apart from backing up to the average user, there doesn't seem to be a lot to do!

Flash roms, overclock cpu, clear app caches. Modify system apps (eg make browser fullscreen).
Anything really.
Clocksync - if cell-network time sync sucks.
MarketAccess - if you can't purchase apps on market
Autokiller or Minfree manager - to keep memory tidy (less necessary on the most recent firmwares)
Screenshot - should be obvious.

Im sticking to stock for now, see no reason to switch. I mostly mix/mash stuff from other roms if i like. But yea i just got my vibrant few days back so i don't know wht roms are available/good. There was this thread however, look for "best firmware" i believe it was called.

Here's a copy of android market 2.2.10. Installed w/o a hitch on my phone, but be patient during install as it takes a minute.
EDIT: Though at first glance this seemed to work fine, some of my app links have gotten messed up from this. Use with caution. I'll try an update.zip version and see if that makes a difference. (No FCs for me and runs fine. No noticeable difference from 2.2.7)
For now, this is in my dropbox at http://db.tt/lWIF1OF

Thanks, but for some reason I'm hit with market force closes, even after clearing data and cache
What is different about this version.

Ryno and roman; as noted in OP, no noticeable difference from v2.2.7
Not posted as any major revelation, just here in case someone might want a newer version for newer roms.

Your google search isn't what I needed. And google is always my first search.
I thought about doing it for those who still run rooted stock. I started to theme some its it but I got bored with it and trashed my work. If there is a big enough demand for it, like 10+, I'll do it.

Not sure if this was posted already, but I managed to locate this if anyone wanted to try it out. Works fine on my Epic.

renting movies
Not sure if they have created a hack to get around this problem. but rooted users need to beware of renting movies, it will say you cant watch the movie after you've already paid for it

ever since installing this, I'm getting a lot of force closes on a lot of different apps. tweetdeck, roam control, titanium backup, and a few more. I'm flashing a backup to see if that fixes it. will report back when I do
Edit 1: I went to applications > Manage Applications and deleted updates from market to see if that would do the trick first. after doing so, now the market force closes like crazy. flashing backup now, will most likely report when I wake up tomorrow
Loving it so far want to download a movie but a lil scared maybe tomorrow so far so good

Is it possible, I don't necessarily want to flash or have to root.
Thanks.

You cant do that, removing system applications require root.
Depends what bloat you're talking about? There really isn't much on there to be honest.
Figured as much, I just remember when I got my One there was something like 4-5 gbs already taken up.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
You can't remove em without root, but you can disable many of them. I have about 15 apps that came pre installed that I won't use (mostly carrier crap, and stuff like Google Magazine, books, etc..)
Go to settings - > apps - > all, then select disable if it isn't grayed out...
A lot of the HTC apps can't be disabled, but whatever can is worth it
Pretty much like freezing.. You still have the apps taking space, but they won't run and will disappear from your app drawer!

i assume your talking about the 6.9ish gb that comes used up from when you first turned on the phone? that section is mostly a system partition used up by the android OS system. I'm not too versed in this but its pretty much neccessary. how large does that section have to be now that i'm not too sure. but every sense version i've ran on here custom 1.29 has pretty much the same size for that partition.
the best way without root is to disable the apps, as WolfDale7 mentioned.
Awesome, thanks for all the responses and help everybody!

And if I have root, how can I uninstall them since titanium itself doesnt?
