Hey guys last week my phone has been starting to act real buggy and I began to get a FC saying android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Has anyone experienced a similar issue as this? The phone has completely stopped working and I can't do anything on it. I've tried a hard reset, soft reset, reloading 2.1 and practically everything else. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you!
When you say the phone completely stopped working, what do you mean? You can't even power it on? Or it comes on but just won't make calls, send texts, etc? Provide us with some more details please. Are you rooted? If so, what ROM were you using? etc. etc.
Also, did you install any new apps lately? Some cases of this FC error have to do with an installed app that is malfunctioning, and simply uninstalling the troubled app, then rebooting, will solve this.
I am having the same trouble, but my phone started by saying that I was running out of space, though I hadn't installed anything new. I am thinking it is with the latest Facebook update. The battery runs out fast and the phone has filled up and now it's crashing.
I think I am going to uninstall the FB update and see how that goes.

The newest Facebook version does drain the battery really fast -- it basically prevents the phone from sleeping. See this post on how to fix it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7572716&postcount=948
Or of course, just totally uninstalling FB would fix that too

Well I keep getting that error everytime I FC it and it prevents me from doing anything. The touch screen won't work at all either. I was rooted running PureHero but I just flashed 2.1 back on it (the official one from Sprint) and the problem still existed. I did a hard reset and the phone continues to show this message even without any apps installed.
Wow, that seems strange then. If it's doing this on just plain stock without any apps installed then it sounds like it could just be something defective with the phone itself. I would say re-run the official stock 2.1 RUU from Sprint (to remove Root) and then take it back to a Sprint store and see if they will replace your phone.

Right I've tried putting the 2.1 on again and again but the same problem. And I went to the Sprint store to ask about it and apparently I have water damage so they didn't do anything... I guess im SOL with no insurance...

Lol ya. I'm gonna give Sprint a call and see if they can do anything, but my mom's line is ready for an upgrade so I'll probably get the Epic 4g from her line and buy her a BB or Pixi.

Hi all. I seem to have the same recuuring issue at least twice a day with my kaiser.
For no apparant reason it keeps freezing on me, and each time always displays the same fuzzy graphics on the title bar (see attachment).
Has anybody come accross this issue? What shall I do?
Thanks in advance.

Do you have a custom rom or a stock rom?
What rom are you using?
What radio are you using?
Can you tell us the available memory you have?
Do you have a task manager installed, and are you making sure everything is closed prior to opening new programs?
That information will be helpful in figuring out what's going on. Let us know, thanks! =)
If you don't have one of the newer custom roms, you're pretty much guaranteed to get an answer of "install hardspl / new radio / rom".
If you have a stock rom from HTC... you're gonna hear "reflash the phone with the stock rom, and if it still does it.. return the phone, or flash it with a custom one".
How much warranty do you have left?
Can you also give us a list of what programs you have installed, and which ones are usually running?

Thanks for the quick response. There are a lot of questions so i took a bunch of screen shots. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need anymore detail.
See second post as i am unable to post all pics in one post.
Thankyou

I am also running battibar in the background.
Well, from what i gather from the screenshots you posted everything should be working fine. There's no reason it should be freezing up, unless there is some sort of conflict, or corrupt program.
Have you noticed that it happens after opening a certain program, or is it really random?
Oh, I take it that's a stock rom right? You never flashed the phone, you just installed individual cab files, right?

It seems to be random but then on the other hand ive noticed that it usually happens when its been sitting on the charger and idle (for example, i'll pop it on the charger before bed, and when i wake up in the morning its frozen). Also it happens at work when its connected to my pc via activesync and after i havent been doing anything for a while.

Well... it could be overheating. If that's the case it's gotta go back. How much warranty do you have left on the phone before it ends?

Well, just like I posted above. Everything seems fine... and since you are using the stock rom you only have a few choices. You can start uninstalling programs 1 by 1... (noting which ones you uninstall so you can put them back on). Go 1/2 a day, and see if you still have the problem after uninstalling each program. That will help narrow down the theory about corrupt programs or conflicts.
Another option, is reloading the stock rom from HTC... and don't install anything. See how that works for a day... if it's fine, then you can start installing programs.... then if the problem occurs, you know it's got to be something with one of the program you've put on there.
Then you could always just uninstall everything, reset everything, and send it back and get a new phone.... but if it's the software causing the issue, and you put the same software back on the new phone.. you'll just be right back in the same situation again.
If you have warranty time left, i'd uninstall everything, and demand a new phone because of teh issues you are having. Onec you get it, then i'd flash with a custom rom... just make sure you do it right. =)
EDIT: Hell even if you don't have any warranty left, i'd STILL flash with a custom rom. I can't even begin to tell you how much better my phone runs now that it's flashed compared to before. I was using the stock ROM before from HTC, i had some issues... it was a bit laggy... so i reflashed with the stock rom, limited the software i put on it.. etc. etc.... still ran like dog piss... so i flashed, and well..... you get the picture. It's awesome now.

10 months. But i dont feel any heat whatsoever, and the other day i was using it at work all day connected via activesync and it didnt freeze up. its only when i leave it idle on the charger.... Last weekend i kept getting messages from friends all during the night while it was on the charger (i was reading messages) and it didnt freeze.
So if it's sitting still for a long time without activity.. it freezes. Hmm... well i could give you a dozen things to try, but they'd just be bandaid fixes anyway. If it's freezing something isnt right.
Read my first post on page 2 of this thread you started and that should give you your options. FLASH!!
ISSUE SOLVED!!!!!!
I just realized I kinda screwed up.
My phone (AT&T Captivate, rooted and SIM unlocked, but still using the ROM that came with the device) got into a wierd state today, and crashed, and wouldn't shut down. So I removed the battery. Since then, no matter what I did, I got constant "Android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly" messages whenever I tried to do anything of consequence with the phone.
After some searching, I found that the way to fix this was a reset to factory defaults. I did this. Now, my phone isn't really working -- it boots, and I can pull down the notification area, but the launcher doesn't launch.
Here's the thing -- I removed the samsung TwLauncher app via Titanium Backup a while back. I've been using Launcher Pro instead, but I guess that's gone now.
Oh, and to add insult to injury, I still get "Android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly" when I get a phone call.
So.... what can I do here? Am I totally hosed? Do I have to re-flash the ROM or something? What are my options?
I would say reflash. I cant really tell for sure but thats your best bet. Both newer firmwares offer better battery life anyhow. So you cant go wrong.
Ok... but how do I go about doing that? I've never done this before, and am kinda new to Android. I can't even get to the settings menu.
I think I'd like to go back to the stock Samsung ROM. How do I acquire that? How do I install that on my system?
I'm not looking for people to spell everything out for me -- a nudge in the right direction would be nice, however.
Never mind; I found this thread:

Back up and running.
The people on this forum are AMAZING!
I was just wondering what the easiest way to restore to stock is. I recently updated to gingerbread then rooted and then went to ginvervolt. Love the speed of it but now any text I sent doesnt get received so I need to go back to stock. I think this might be a phone issue but I still need to be stock to take it in.
Just restore the back up you made before you flashed the ROM
that one is still rooted I want to go back to completely stock can I just restore then use revo tool to flash back to stock?

You can get the system back to stock but your stock GB recovery is gone for good. Only way to get it back is to ADB push it from the back up that S.Meezy has. What I meant about the stock back up thing was it might be something underlying in the phone that a different restore, from a phone known to be working after the GB update, might fix. But yeah to get the system back to stock just restore your stock back up that you made. CWM is there for good until someone posts the stock recovery up and how to get it back into the phone.
I was afraid of that. ever since I rooted I have had the issue. It really stinks as my work dispatches through text.
So far You're the only person I've heard of having the issue of SMS not sending... Try doing a data wipe and then reflashing Gingervolt. If that doesn't fix it idk. Maybe mtmichaelson can shed some light on what to do when he checks the forums.
I have done that a few times and the weird thing is at first everything id fine then all of a sudden no one receives my messages normally a hard reset fixes it for a bit but then it does it again.

huh. I have a few questions.
1. Does it freeze up on your end or just not go through to the person you are sending it too?
2. What kind of service area are you in?
3. Is your wifi on? (idk why I'm asking this honestly it just seems like a good thing to ask...)
4. I was going to add a question here but as I was editing I forgot it...
and last but certainly not least
5. Are you using the stock messaging app or an after market one?

on my end it says sent but they never get received. My service area is pretty good not to mention I am a service person and I drive all day and it doesnt make a difference where I am.
my wifi is normally on but I have tried disabling t when this happens just to see what happens.
I am using stock messaging app should I try another one?

Yeah they do.. I wonder why you are getting weird languages.. lol

No handcent but try this
So I went back to my previous back up and I removed a bloatware freezing program and it seems to be working. I wonder if the program was blocking something
Wrong again around 8 am it stopped working again. called verizon and they are sending me a new phone. is there anything I can do to try and hide the fact that I flashed and rooted the phone
Looks like verizon cant hit send in their systems either. They tech that was supposed to ship my phone never did. great so i got another tech who said she did something different but hey look 10 hours later and it doesnt work again man this is getting old
Should I maybe use the froyo restore and then try upgrading again?

I think you should use LGNSPT (I think I got that acronym right) to flash the V6 tot. That's the only way to completely reset the phone to an "out of the box" state and rule out any potential software problems.
After flashing V6, see if you can send texts. If you can, do the OTA update to V7, and then try texting again. If you still can, flash GingerVolt and make sure texting still works. I suggest checking if you can text at every step so you can narrow down if it's a specific version that's causing the problem.
But honestly, unless your phone has a hardware issue, flashing the tot will fix the problem. I've got a gut feeling that somehow your radio got messed up during the update process, and flashing the tot is the only way to fix that or any other random anomalies that could be messing your phone up.
A hassle? Yes, but probably less of one than dealing with Verizon to get a new phone. Coincidentally, this is the same thing you'd want to do before sending your phone back to Verizon.

Hello!
I had purple tint on my old HTC One, so I sent it for repairs under warranty and I got a completely new unit. It was working for a day, but today it couldn't connect to the network. At first I thought it was a HW issue, but I realized that Dialer was crashing with a message: "com.htc.htcdialer is not responding.". That made me think it was a software problem, so I tried doing a factory reset in HBOOT, but now htcdialer is still crashing, and I can't even go through initial setup, it just keeps rebooting when I try to unlock it for the first time. Is there any other way to flash a ROM, without being able to boot the phone?
Everything is completely stock, bootloader is locked and phone is not rooted. I updated it to the latest available version, 4.4.2 with Sense 5.5, I'm unsure what version it exactly is. I would like to keep it stock for at least a couple of days in case there is a hardware failure and I have to send it back to service, but I can do anything if it's necessary.
Thank you very much.
HBOOT image, if it is of any help: http://i.imgur.com/3XKC6Br.jpg?1
Since its completely stock and you just got the phone, I wouldnt bother going through and installing a custom rom, its too much of a hassle and if it ends up being a hardware problem its an even bigger issue.
I'd contact HTC again and see if they can do anything about it, or just send it back again under warranty. Flashing a custom rom in your situation isnt worth it imo.

That's exactly what I've been thinking.
I was actually able to get it to go through initial setup between reboots and I was able to install a RUU, a the same thing is happening again, so I'm pretty sure it's HW related. And it still isn't getting any signal. It's a bit of a problem because I have to bring it to a store 150km away, but I'll have to do it :crying:

Ahh that sucks. Call them and make some excuse about how you cant come to the store and see if you can ship it to them.
DOK2 all stock firmware here.
Got my phone back in december. My phone has been chugging alone fine until yesterday. not sure what happened but the lock screen takes minutes to come back. I tried doing a factory reset via software and when I did that the phone was still sluggish. Tried a stock recovery reset, and afterwards when i tried signing into my account and connecting to wifi at the initial setup the phone just rebooted back to the start screen again which i thought was real odd. It's currently restoring apps from the app store right now and it intermittently reboots itself while doing stuff. all while it's completely stuttering if i try to use it...
Is my phone starting to have internal memory failure? no SD card in the phone at the moment.
Should I try reflashing the DOK2 firmware via odin and then doing a reset again? Is that even possible with all the restrictions?
used it for about 30 minutes on my way to work and then it rebooted on me with the following error :
ddi: mmc_read failed
Check this thread for a workaround. I use an app to keep my phone from going into deep sleep.

Wouldn't hurt to reflash stock. Google usually restores apps when you check box at first boot for backup and restore. I'm wondering if you installed an app that doesn't agree with your phone... if so, you may continue seeing this issue so long as app is installed.

Did a factory reset and cleared cache, reflashed stock DOK2 from sammobile website using odin, cleared cache. things were going a little bit better at first but now just stuttering all over the place and randomly rebooting still. I only have very few apps downloaded, including facebook updates, instagram, all the samsung and google crap that forces updates...
Also want to add that booting into recovery takes a very long time, longer than i've ever noticed it taking... 7 min+ sometimes it will say "installing system updates" with the android guy chugging along, other times it will just have the android guy chugging....
Is there anything else I can try? Is there something I can test to verify that it's a hardware issue and not a software problem, like a flash memory checker?
This phone is out of warranty, and knox has been tripped so I have very limited options here. Would the Tmobile store let me do an exchange for a fee?

Sprint user here. I thought it might be a carrier issue, but it would seem It's at least Tmo & Sprint
Can't seem to find any complaints on the Verizon/ATT forums but that doesn't mean it isn't happening.
Could it be Touchwhiz?
