I am having a problem with my Hero. I just bought 2 of them a month ago. One for me, one for my wife. My wife is lucky and has had no problems. I on the other hand keep having two problems over and over again.
1. After installing applications I cannot manage them through menu<Settings<Applications<Manage applications because I get this message: The application Settings (process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
2. Every time I go to use the Gmail App I get this message: The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please Try again.
I didn't have a problem with either of these the first two weeks. But in the past two weeks its been crazy. I've done to hard resets, and a manual RUU update because after speaking with Sprints "advanced" technical unit that is what I was advised to do. I'm still having the same problem. What can I do?
What exactly do you mean?

Well, I got the Gmail App fixed...I think. After giving up on finding a way to fix it myself I decided to go through my inbox on my desktop and do some cleaning. When I went back and tried it again on my Hero it was working. Apparently there was something about my inbox that it had not liked at all?
As for the other problem, any time that I tap menu<Settings<Applications<Manage applications it starts to load and freezes. This leaves me with no way to clear my data caches for programs.

When it freezes does it give you the option to Force Close or Wait?
And what happens when you press menu?
It only gave me the option to force close. I had a theory it was an app causing the problem so I started uninstalling and reinstalling each app I had installed. As it turns out, as soon as I got rid of UPS mobile I now have access again. Oh well, it wasn't that great of an app anyway.

Problem: ROM Manager in the market is in a constant state of "downloading", sometimes it will show its downloading going and reaching 100%, but then it just goes back to "downloading". IF I try to cancel the download, the Market force closes.
Ok, so I noticed this problem after flashing one of the CM Nightlies, so in order to try to fix it, I wiped everything, went back to RC2, problem still exists. I think it was caused by Froyo's automatically restore of apps. I would think that in the initial bootup, maybe turning off those options could fix it, but that would require another wipe. And I've already done 8 or 9 in the fast few days and am just exausted from re-setting my settings. Normally I'd use Titanium Backup to solve that issue, but every time I do a restore, it soft reboots.
Anyone have any ideas?

You know... actually I've been experiencing a similar issue.
At one point with Market it would take at least 30 seconds for anything to show up when I open Market. Then to look for any updates by clicking Downloads it would take another 30 seconds or so. Not a big deal. But then somehow and for some reason it started showing up almost instantly! I would download and install the updates but then Market would forceclose almost immediately after the app finished installing. It made updating or installing several apps almost impossible. I tried wiping the data, clearing the cache, clearing the dalvik cache, etc. However the problem still occurs but not all of the time. It's pretty strange actually. I'd say about 75% of the time I get forcecloses and each time I try to get a logcat I don't have the problem. Go figure.
Hi.
I heard the 2.2 upgrade was finally out via kies, so in my infinite wisdom I downloaded kies, reverted back to the stock launcher in order to make it connect (thanks xda! =p) to my computer in kies mode, and clicked "upgrade firmware".
The update process went smoothly, and when it was done, my phone reset itself, as it should.
When it turned itself back on, it started vibrating in a pulse sort of manner. The "enter pin" screen is working, so I enter my pin, and then I'm greeted by an error message, or rather, I'm spammed by error messages:
"The application My uploads (process com.google.android.apps.uploader) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
"The process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
"The application Daily briefing (process com.sec.android.widgetapp.infoalarm) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I am only presented with the option "Force close". When I do this, new error messages reading the exact same as the above ones keep popping up.
The only non-kosher app I had installed was the One Click Lagfix by RyanZA (or something like that). Except from that, I was running stock android 2.1 before upgrading.
I've got no idea what to do about this. It won't connect to kies, and I can't do anything at all on the phone.. I see the "first startup setup" thing in the background behind the errors, but I can't click anything because of the error spam.
In hindsight, I should've probably uninstalled the lagfix.. I'm fairly new to this game, it didn't even occur to me that I should've factory reset the phone (?) before upgrading firmware.
I feel like an idiot now, and my phone isn't working.
Please, is there anyone that can help me with this? >_< I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong section / if I should've posted it in the 2.2 thread. This is my first time posting here.

Okay, five minutes after posting this I managed to fix it myself.
Fixed it by going into 3 button recovery mode (power phone off -> hold home screen and volume up button while powering on) and formatting internal SD card as well as doing a factory reset. After that, my phone is now working like a charm again. (phew, this almost gave me a heart attack!!)
PS:
I figure if I'm stupid enough to #ยค%&/ up my phone like this, someone else might also be.
Feel free to delete this if you disagree though =)
I just bought this Incredible S, and can not use the Market.
I can access the Market, but every time I try to download I keep getting this msg:
process com.android.vending has stopped unexpectedly. Force close
I've restarted many times and even set my phone back to factory setting, but nothing work.
How to solve this problem?
Till this problem solved, is there another way to get apps installed?
Thanks,
Amir

I know there is a lot of information on this, however my problem appears to be a bit more chronic all of a sudden. If anyone has any idea what this is (especially if it is a possible hardware issue), I would really appreciate it.
This started the past weekend and has been driving me crazy ever since. After uninstalling facebook on Saturday, I got the pop up. Rather than messing with trying to fix it, I went and reflashed the rom. While restoring all my apps, the error popped up again. Convinced there as something up on the phone or the sdcard file system, I restored back to stock 4.4.2 with odin. I rooted, went through the same restore process and after one of my reboots, it came back. Finally I searched and did "restore app defaults" in the application manager. That worked for a while, but came back a few times, until finally that method wouldn't fix it anymore.
Last night I reflashed with odin again. This time I didn't root. Everything was fine all day until I decided to uninstall twitter and the acore message is back. Doing an app reset did fix it again, however I am afraid at this point to reboot the phone or do anything else.
I had this problem maybe once about 3 months ago, now I can't get ride of it no matter what I do. I should also point out that I did not do a TiBu restore or anything, I installed all my apps through the play store.
Thanks in advance guys
Have you tried going into application manager and clearing data for contact storage? It's what I do when I get this error message

I did that, however it usually didn't work. I had to reset all application defaults and the issue usually went away. During one of my reflashes, even that didn't work anymore.
Seems like the issues started when either I turned off one of the bloatware apps, or deleted something. Sometimes the acore would start right away, other's after I rebooted the phone.
This last time, I got the phone setup, I got 2 acore's early on (Clearing app defaults worked both times). I didn't do anything else to the phone for a few days. Last night I finally rooted, installed safestrap and my other root apps and so far everything seems stable. I will just do a twrp backup before removing anything in the event things go bad again.
What still bothers me is don't know what caused this all of a sudden. I've been flashing roms for years and never once had this sort of problem. I will all set to consider this a hardware issue, until it finally settled down.
WP8.1 Weird Store Bug: App Stuck at "Installing", blocking other app Updates.
Ok, so I've a pretty bad bug that stopping me from updating my apps.
I decided to try Unified remote (though I think this could have happened to any app) and when it got to installing, progress bar at about 60%, it stopped.
I waited a while, nothing moved, I went to look at it in the app list and it was done. I opened it, used it for a bit, it was fine. Back to the store, and it still says "Installing".
When I long press the install, nothing happens. The element moves, but no options drop down to cancel or pause.
So I go ahead and restart my device, thinking this would clear it up. I forget about it for about a day, go back to check and it's still there!
Windows phone does VERY LITTLE in parallel, so apps only download one at a time, all waiting on the first to finish installing... so you can see where this is going, the app is still marked as "Installing" and all other apps are now "Pending".
I went ahead and deleted the app, and that didn't help. Restarted once more for good measure to no avail.
Long press again still gives me no options.
Anyone ever had a situation like this? Know of a way to unstick this app that does not include a device reset?
Appreciate any help.
