This is my first ever boot animation. I hope you like it.
Let it play once all the way
through so it fully loads the animation.
The second time around will play a lot smoother.
Instructions:
Place the bootanimation.zip in the root of /tools/ in the Android SDK folder.
Use the command: adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local

Root explorer will however. Just make sure its set to r/w and to match the permissions of the old file with the new. Also, the zip file must be named bootanimation.zip

Ok. Got the file in the system/media folder. All is good except I think the permissions are wrong. Still playing old animation during boot. Place forgive me as I am still learning all this stuff

Hey I was wondering if there were any boot animations that I could install. I would really like the one that Virus had on the sense 3.0 port he did for the EVO 4G. It had the blood of cells moving then they make a crucial transformation. The is there any way I can get that on my Xoom.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
If you have rooted xoom & zip file of the virus boot-animation.
Rename the zip file to bootanimation.zip
Use root explorer >> system > media and replace the desired file with the old one
Reboot
Then enjoy

Whatever size the desc.txt file says the insage size should be is the size it will display on the xoom. if desc.txt file says 480x800 for example, it will display small on the xoom. if you increase the size in the file to 1280x800 it will try to stretch the image. sometimes it may just display nothing between the moto logo and bootnig into android.
you can also put the bootanimation.zip file in the data/local folder. this way, you will keep the default bootanimation.zip file in system/media safe. when you reboot, you xoom will use the data/local file. to go back to stock you can just delete or rename the file in data/local and the xoom will use the stock animation in the system/media file. (this is how i do it)
I just threw this together...
All credit goes to the developers

Samsung Transformers Boot Animation.. FINISHED
What do yahs think??
1/6/12 * This is NOT flashable * This works on Roms that are able to change the boot animation.
All you need to do is take the bootanimation.zip and put it in system/media... if that doesn't work then try renaming it to sanim.zip and that should work... *it is case sensitive*... has to be sanim.zip or bootanimation.zip... and if you have another bootanimation or sanim.zip they will fight each other so rename or delete the one you don't want to use

How to Install?
In my LG Optimus L9, the file for Boot Animation is /system/media/bootanimation.zip.
So, you have to Overwrite this file with the bootanimation.zip attached in this post.
OR, for other Phones, you may Search the appropriate Forums for your Phone, regarding installation of Boot Animation.
To overwrite, use a Root Explorer App or use ADB to push it into your phone.
Best Regards,
Thakur

Brother, Search in these XDA Forum and you will surely get some Threads describing How to use ADB to push/pull Files to/from your Phone. :good:

The /system/ folder is read-only by default. But when I used root access to delete the animation file and replace it with this boot animation, it worked. So, you may try replacing it with a root access file manager.
Note: Although, replacing boot animation don't require Root if using ADB.
