Is anyone using the HTC Mail app with Gmail as an Exchange server?
I like the HTC Mail app a lot more than the Gmail one, but it seems to have to redownload emails, not get emails, or not get attachments.
Does anyone have it working?

Hello! So i'm new to the whole android scene, ive been using iPhones for 2 years, and windows mobile for years before that.
Currently on my phone, i have the gmail app for my gmail, some other email app that came with the captivate for my exchange syncing, and im using K-9 mail for my MSN email accounts (there's 3).
Everything works very well EXCEPT for the hotmail accounts. I would prefer to have all of my email accounts in 1 email app where i can open it up, pick the account and choose the folder i want to view (inbox, junk, trash, sent items, etc..)
Im having a tough time finding one... I'm ok with using 2 or 3 but 1 would of course be ideal. The biggest issue im having is the syncing. Ive tried every setting possible and my K-9 mail will not auto sync with the msn/hotmail servers. The only way to get my mail is to get into K-9 mail and tell it to sync, then after several minutes i'll have everything synced and see my new emails.
Is there an app that can combine all these, or just the hotmail accounts that will sync every hour or so automatically that anybody knows of?
Why not auto-forward your hotmail to your gmail. Or POP your hotmail from your gmail? You can set up a filter to label them as hotmail messages, or even use the multiple inbox lab.
There is no good all in one email app

MSN/Hotmail now supports full exchange sync with email, contacts and calendar. MS claims there is known issue with Android 2.1. In my case, I found the contacts sync doesn't work for me. MS advise you to use Android apps like TouchDown etc to do the sync instead.
The exchange server address is m.hotmail.com and use your email address and password to login.
So, you can use the default email app to add exchange sync for your MSN/hotmail account. The downside is that email app limits you to max two Exchange accounts.
I have a question about the gmail app vs the preinstalled email app.
I know the official gmail app recieves gmail instantly when they come, but can i just unistall the gmail app itself, an use the gmail setting in the standard email app, an still get emails instantly?
The gmail app pushes notifications to your phone. The email app pulls them to your phone.
The benefits of push are 1.faster notifications 2.better battery life because google's servers are doing most of the work.
when i hade my iphone 4 non of the emails were push but i had my gmail setup as a microsoft exchange and changed some setting and i was getting my gmail pushed dont know if this is the same as htc mail app

Yes it is if you download Gmail Unread Count from the Market.
Is there anyway to set this up to where gmail will push emails to the htc app rather than the stock gmail app? Id like to just use the htc email app instead of having my gmail sent to a seperate app.

Thanks! but upon reading the reviews, a lot of complaints about it draining the battery though.

You can add gmail as the mail provider but I don't think it will push though. You can setup when it should sync though.

I have my yahoo an hotmail setup that way, but my other 2 gmail accounts is through the gmail app. It would be nice to be able to remove the gmail app an have it push straight to the htc app though.
I know it is a late reply but i stumble on this one through google search, so maybe others are too.
Solution to get push mail in your htc mail app, is to add gmail account through exchange/active sync. Then you can set it to push as the refresh interval. You don't need the gmail-app anymore.

Having read a few posts on the subject, it seems not many people have had luck getting this to work? Does anyone know of a method or an alternative mail app that's not the Yahoo Mail app as that's terrible.
Did you get yahoo mail plus? As i know just yahoo mail plus can do it.
Nope. Yahoo Mail basic. That said, I've managed to get it working using IMAP and using TLS instead of SSL. Only thing I gotta figure out now is how to turn off the syncing and how to get it push new messages instantly.
I am having issues getting a new work IMAP address to work on my HTC One for Sprint. It works through the Gmail app and through Gmail on a web browser but when I select IMAP in the default HTC app (I prefer over gmails app) it doesn't seem to work and if I try to set it up as a Gmail account in the HTC app it says it isn't an account so I am pretty confused.
Anyone able to shed some light on this?

It's not a Gmail account then?
When you bring up add an account in the HTC Mail app, click on Manual.
Enter in all your info there. That doesn't work?
I figured it out, thanks.

Any recommendations for an e-mail app that I should use for my Gmail and Outlook accounts? Currently using the official Gmail app for my Gmail account and the stock Sony e-mail app for my Outlook account. I want to have just one e-mail app that can be "good" for both accounts.
you can use the Sony email app for gmail as well.

Cloudmagic - it's easy to set up, beautiful and fast.
I'm using it for 2 accounts (Gmail and Outlook) and it's simply great!
