Nandroid doesn't restore apps. Market does. Or Titanium Backup, or Astro File Manager. If you're on a Froyo rom, market should immediately begin restoring apps as soon as you log into your gmail account. Always make sure you answer yes to all the prompts when logging into your gmail account, as that is what syncs market, contacts, etc.

There are apps on the market that will do this. I am not sure which are best but if you look around the market you should find some solutions

There is a very good app named 'SMS Backup & Restore' in the Market for free. It backups and restores your messages. I just used it yesterday.

This. And titanium backup for bookmarks.

Titanium Backup can backup both, bookmarks and SMS.
Look at attached pics to see where TiBu backups SMS and bookmarks.
I use Mybackup pro and it works like a dream. Tried many different ones and personally I like this 1 the most.

I can absolutely confirm that Titanium Backup saves and restores SMS and bookmarks. During the holiday break the past 2 weeks, I've been (finally!) getting some time to try flashing different ROMs and trying some out.
TB worked just fine restoring SMS and bookmarks without any problem.

Before flashing Firefly I did TIBU using apps+data (full).
After flashing i copied Titanium folder back onto phone and then through restore saw the same things in your pic.
However when I try to explore the items it says there's nothing in there.
Ok, not sure what I did but my sms are back.
I did do a reboot but it still didnt' show up. Just went back into Handscent SMS and now it's showing my old texts.
Ah well, guess it did work.

[Q] How to restored data after rooting O2x?

Hi guys,
i've just instal CM7 nightlies on my O2x, the question is how can i restored all of my data that have been back up in cwm such as my contact and calendar event?
cheers
You don't.
You need to use something like Titanium Backup for that.
Thanks rusty!
Oo..so right know i need to start from scratch right?
Right now, yes.
Or you could restore your CWM backup, use a backup app, flash CM7 then restore via an app.
AppExtractor can do this, restoring:
- Contacts
- Wifi Settings
- SMS/MMS
- Apps and their Data
- Bookmarks
From any CWM backup files.
Write to the author for Calendar, he is very reactive.
See in Market
The most simple way to restore Calendar/Contacts is to use 'the cloud' google gmail sync, or dedicated backup features in launchers (don't remember in LG Launcher, but in other launchers/home you can backup contact etc)

For contacts and calendar, I would recommend you to save it by default to your Gmail account, whenever you flash a new rom it will sync automatically.
I am using the following for backups.
1. Call log backup & restore
2. SMS backup & restore
3. Titanium backup

thanks guys for all of the help
really2 appreciate it

Try and restore your CMV backup with Titanium.
I haven't tried it yet, but it should work

This used to be true Rusty, but not anymore. The latest version of Titanium Backup can now restore both apps and data from CWM-backups. Very handy.
I must admit, that will be a proper useful feature.

(Titanium) Backup questions when installing ROMs

Hi,
I'm wondering how you guys are backing up your stuff? I recently went from stock to maverick rom but it took me 30min+ to get everything back to the way it was. There must be a better way?
Is there any fast way to backup/restore the following (e.g. with titanium backup):
- Restore homescreen (app shortcuts?)
- Android settings (display, ringtone, vibrate, keyboard etc.)
- Accounts (e-mail, exchange sync, etc)
- Phone numbers (yes I know you can import, but it's yet another step)
- Saved texts
Thanks!

I only use TiBu for apps and data, but you might have problems restoring data between ROMs. Sorry I can't help ya.

I've been using AppExtractor, it will restore apps data and system data from a nandroid. Well worth it, only 2 bucks.

Well appdata isn't my problem as titanium backup handles that fine.
It's the things I mentioned in the first post.
You guys really go through all the menu's to change the settings everytime you install a new ROM? I can't believe that

All day, erry day. Haha, yeah that's what I do. I don't install new ROMs very often, so it's completely fine with me. I just restore my apps and their data.
Bump.. will backing up mms.apk (using aosp sms) with titanium save all my texts?
I use TB for my apps/data. I use ADW/Ex so my home screen's restored when I do my apps
I use MyBackupPro for Call Log/SMS/MMS's
Email, i typically setup from scratch if jumping to a new base ROM (Moto Blur - CM7)
When just flashing a new version of same rom, i usually just backup and restore it with TB as well.
System settings, ringtones, and other misc stuff, haven't really found a good way to do that works consistantly.

Specifically it is [SMS/MMS/APN]Dialer Storage, a reboot/hot boot is needed after restoring it.

Contacts Storage is for the calllog not sure which of the other Contacts acutally resotore contacts but all four wont hurt as long as only data is restored for them. Anything WIFI can cause issue so I'd avoid that. Thats all I usually all I restore as far as system data.
Okai new question.. Everytime I restore I have to press INSTALL, then DONE. (just like when you normally install an app). I have to do this for ALL my apps ( so 50++ times). Surely this isn't normal?
Hit the menu button and select Batch. From there, you can select batch restore, and it will run on its own. Just be sure to comb through the list and deselect and apps you DON'T want restored, like Blur apps etc.

You mean purchasing the app will remove the prompt??
Most third party launchers will let you backup your home screen setups

It might...that's why I mentioned batch restore, but I also have the Pro key, so it may very well disable the prompt.

You're on CM9 right? TiBu should be able to backup Trebuchet or Nova (if you're using that), and you should be able to just restore your former setup from there. That's how I restored my Nova setup after a clean wipe for the latest CM9 build...

[Q]Problems with Backup & restore app

I have two issues with the mentioned app on my Xperia T...
1. I cannot restore backuped SMS. If i do a factory reset and try to restore the SMS app, the SMS app stays empty.
2. If I try to restore the Email app my Accounts are restored, but the app does not work any more. It is trying to sync but does not load any Emails and I cannot access the settings.
I am using a LT30p with stock Rom from the austrian Provider "3".
Does anyone ancounter the same problems with Backup & Restore? Is this a known Bug?

What method are you using to restore the apps?
1) If you have done a factory reset then all user data is lost. SMS are not kept in the apk, but in the data partition which you have just deleted.
2)Why cant you access settings? Can you show a screenshot? Which email app is it?

I've been using Titanium Backup for the past few years, but I don't won't to root my M8. Is there a similar app you guys recommend in the Google Play Store that will backup my apps + data w/out me having to root my device?

Isn't there a non-rooted version of titanium Backup that would backup all your downloaded apps? If not there are plenty of apps out there. My backup for one
I think Helium may work but you need a computer if the phone isn't rooted.

I used to use MyBackup a lot, though I used the root version. It works, but it's not as easy at the HTC Backup.
I've had good luck with HTC Backup linked to Dropbox and/or Drive. However, it doesn't always restore ALL of my apps. It consistently leaves off about 5 or so with each restore. I have no idea why. It's not biggie as I can just download them manually. I like that it restores my homescreens including widgets and it restores all my saved wifi locations.
