Att stock apps - Captivate Themes and Apps

We got all these fancy ways of removing all these stock apps that att puts on your phone. How about a list of links for the stock apps apks.
See im at work and want to take my phone back for exchange since its cutting off randomly. Im not near a computer but i work near att. My house is about 30 mins away so its innconvient to drive home and back to do a restore and go to att. So i figure a list would be nice for others who get in this situation. Thanks

I think your best bet would be to do a stock image flash using the instructions in the development branch of the captivate forum. Look there for the ODIN one-click, and make sure you use the JF6 firmware. This will restore your phone to stock/factory, including all missing apps, sounds, animations, unroot etc.

Thanks for the tip but im looking for a way to do it directly from the phone.
I tried downloading the fw from the thread but my phone says it doesnt support the file type. I figure if i can get the firmware on the phone i can restore the phone just like adding root privlages.

Complete system restore to "stock".

How would I restore my Captivate completely back to stock - as if I were to just purchase it and pull it out of the box?
The situation is I uninstalled some apps with titanium backup and it wouldn't let me reinstall them or restore them. My swype lags and freezes the phone, it was actually doing that before I played with the AT&T apps - but now I need to get it back to stock so I can take it in for a replacement. Or, if taking it back to stock would fix swype then things would be fine.
How do I get all the original applications back on the device and get things back to normal so the people at AT&T do not notice it was played with and try and blame the swype issue on me?
I appreciate it!
You can restore the /system directory to stock.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730887
That is the best we can do until the stock rom comes out.
I had a situation in which i was stuck in FC situation loop...nonstop. Made it to settings and factory reset in between FC's and fixed my problem. Had previously booted into recovery to reset and i believe this to be the source of corruption.

ODIN from Designgears is the way to go....
My program AIO Captivate tools has the restore to stock option in it. Here's the link.
EDIT: Holy Craptivate! This is an ancient thread.

[Q] Samsung Captivate Broke After Removing Bloatware

I took off all the AT&T applications from my phone, and now my phone can't download anything. Everytime it tries to, it says
"android.process.media has closed unexpectedly"
and it makes me force close it. I am new to android and am horrified that my new phone is broken. Please help me! If any of you have a backup of the AT&T applications that I deleted, or if you know of any way to completely restore the OS to factory defaults I would be very pleased. Thank you in advance.
Download Odin in the Development section and reflash back to Stock. JF6 is the stock firmware for the Captivate. I dont know what you took off to cause that but my phone does not have the bloatware and works perfectly!
Cheers,
Charlie
Good possibility that you removed the TWLauncher because I got the same FC issue afterwards. Just like the previous post mentioned, just use the one click odin in the dev forums to restore your phone.

There is a file called media hub or media provider or something, and if you remove or rename it your phone will go crazy. At least i had similar issues once before.

Its not media hub, that is just the site for samsung when they get their stuff working to download stuff. It could be the other one but just use odin from the app/dev section.
well I had something very similar happen to me and reflashing back to stock worker, but I also heard that reinstalling the stock android market fixed the problem. Not sure where to get the apk, but I'm sure you could find it somewhere.

New to flashing roms

I want to try one of the 2.2 roms, but i want to be able to quickly get my phone back to how i had it if it doesn't work. I've installed the Rom Manager so I'm able to make nandroid backups, and I have the donate version of TitaniumBackup. I've rooted and enabled sideloading already.
So assuming i try one of these 2.2 roms and i don't like it, can i restore the nandroid and it'll go back to how it used to be? I really want the voice actions, copy & paste with gmail, and non-censored youtube app.

Restoring a 2.1 nandroid will not totally get you back. I agree that you won't go back but make sure you read before you flash. Different roms incorporate different lagps fixes which have to be disabled prior to another flash
Read up on odin. This brings you back to stock. Then if you restore your back up it will work.
Be careful what froyo rom you flash and take the time to know how to recover prior to flashing

bricked a phone using odin....what went wrong?

I'm not new to this sort of stuff either. I used odin one time on my phone with no issues what so ever. my wife just had to make a warranty claim on her phone and we just got the replacement, asked her if she wanted me to root and put cognition on and she said sure
Well it had stock 2.2 on it and it wouldn't install clockwork recovery. upon reading that it was the update causing the problem I figured id just use odin to take the phone back to 2.2. I used a brand new charge cable I've only had for 3 weeks and things started fine but eventually the screen went black and odins progress bar stopped moving... 15 mins went by and nothing was happening... so I knew it was messed up and I unplugged it...
And $125 later I have an ins replacement on the way. Understand that I've been doin this for six months and this is the first time I've ever had a problem... so what happened? major hit to my confidence here!

Your prob is due to the new phones that come with 2.2 don't always work with one click Odin. Should use the recovery work around for it instead
should of known....ugh... wish I would of known this yesterday I would of been $125 richer and minus one angry wife. What about my phone now? its runing cognition 4.4.2. In light of what's happened I'm thinking about going back to stock myself and staying there... Will odin work on my phone or is there another way?

you could use the Odin one click for JH6, that'll take you back to eclair and you can use the Kies mini to update to 2.2 KB1
or...
you could use full odin to flash the 2.3.3 basic theres a great TUT for it. let me grab some links...

if your going to choose the gingerbread path make sure you READ a lot.
And I wouldn't lose to much confidence over it. If you look at some of the "big shots" they usually have hard-bricked a captivate.
Thanks for the reply... yeah my confidence is bruised but its hard to turn back now. Just def don't ever wanna find myself in this situation ever again. I am interested in going to gingerbread, in fact very interested. I've started to look into it I'm gonna read more before I make the big jump.

Next time, (hopefully there won't be a next time for you) you should first hit up samsung warranty first. If you have att, try them before samsung. I hard bricked my phone, sent it to samsung, they fixed it, no charge and sent it back. It took about 12 days, but it was FREE. Just an fyi.

What happens if your running a gingerbread rom with updated bootloaders and you decide that you want to go back to froyo and elair. Is your only option odin one click to restore the bootloaders?, what if your captivate is one of those unlucky ones that like to brick with odin one click? Would you be stuck on gingerbread?
You can use 2.2 roms with gb bootloaders, they are backwards compatible. Just make sure there are no bootloaders in the rom you flash.

Oh I see thanks.

Wait so if i flashed gingerbread bootloaders and my phone is not compatible with odin one click, is there no way to get back onto froyo/eclair bootloaders? I understand that you can still flash froyo roms without bootloaders but you can always make a mistake and flash froyo bootladers bricking your phone.
You can use the regular JH6 flash back just not the one with the three button mod, this is because the three button mod replaces 1 out of 2 bootloaders and they won't match but the JH6 only replaces both (or none not sure) and they do match

Check stuff from studacris on this forum. He's very knowledgeable and helpful. I saw somewhere where he wrote about using odin one click to flash stock with any build. You'll get a bootloop, or a soft brick, and then put in download and flash the jf6 secure with odin. That way you have boots and stock. Don't quote me on any of this. I'm going off memory and might have some of this wrong. Don't want anyone mad at me for the wrong info. Just read into his posts, before trying any of this. You'll definitely learn a lot.

studacris said:
sounds like you have a later build phone that doesnt like odin one click...thats all your gonna get out of it is a bootloop
get into download mode and use this package:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=995143
if you go to gingerbread and want to revert back to stock bootloaders you will have to use one click, even though you will end up in a bootloop and then use the package i posted to get it up and running completly sotck.

[Q] Question about Rooting and Returning to Stock

My apologies if this has been asked before... I've spent some time searching both here and google, but I don't think I've found a thread that answers this question specifically.
First:
I've rooted (Using SuperOneClick) for the first time to use the "Battery Calibration" app (which works great by the way), but then started getting a little creative and removed a whole bunch of stock bloatware and other programs I don't use from my Bell I9000M.
Now, after using it for a couple of days, I noticed under WhatsApp settings under "About", when I hit the "Contact Us" button, it stated no Email App was installed (I removed the Gmail app, as I only use the built in Samsung Social Hub email). I didn't really notice if Gmail was the only selection in there to begin with, but it appeared weird to me.
So, while the phone was still rooted, I did a factory reset. After doing so, I noticed the phone was still rooted (I think - SuperUser was still there), and none of the Apps I originally removed were there.
Then, I thought I screwed up the Rom, so I used SpoofFW under root and manipulated the firmware version so Kies would allow me to redownload KC1. It did so, but after the ROM was installed, SuperUser was still there, but all apps were back.
I was under the impression that when you update your phone via Kies, it returns to full stock. Guess I was wrong.
So how do you bring it back to full stock, eliminating any traces of Root?
I've never installed anything beyond root... no kernal changes, new roms or anything else.. just SuperOneClick.
Can anyone help? Sorry about the wordy post.
SuperOneClick should offer the possibility to unroot too.
If not you'll have to flash an unrooted stock-FW (available at samfirmware.com).

Thanks for the quick response..
It does offer the ability to unroot... is that the only thing required?
I'm asking as we all know, when we uninstall stuff in Windows, traces of the program are still hanging around.
Android is familiar with Linux, not Windows.
If you unrot and uninstall all apps which require root nobidy can say if your phone was ever rooted.

Thanks pal... appreciate everything.
So all I have to do is unroot and basically install KC1 from Kies or ODIN to restore the Apps I've deleted and I'm good to go.
Again, thanks for all your help. I'm by no means anywhere close to realizing the true power of what this phone can do, its great to have knowledgeable people such as yourself to help people like me.
Thanks, but we all are here for helping others.
I am wondering the same thing. I'm new to this so I don't know how to check what was my stock version with bell mobility in canada.
I want to go back to the original factory default settings when I purchased the phone with bell.
Can you guys help me? thanks!
