My hero is rooted with th cs buffed rom but forsome reason i dnt have a folder to put the music on my sd care & when i make a folder to put the music in the media player wont read it........im lost & i need my music !
Is the "Music" folder capitalized and in the root of your SD card? I'm not sure if that matters or not but mine was capitalized "Music" by default.
Or you may just need to reformat your SD card. I can't think of why it wouldn't read or play files from a "Music" folder unless it's having trouble reading the SD card somehow. Try reformatting the SD card (after backing up everything on it) and then reload all your files on it and try again.
Ok well i already reformated the sd card & well that didnt work but i just renamed the folder to "Music" im rebooting the phone now as we speak so hopefully it works & it didnt & now im strating to get mad
You may need to reformat the SD card (again), then reflash/reinstall the buufed ROM to your phone again (after a full data wipe). I've read some posts where some people have to reformat their cards after switching between AOSP and Sense ROMs, so it could be that you need to reinstall the ROM after you have freshly formatted the card.
That is probably an annoying fix though to have to wipe and start over, so if I come across anything else that may be better, I'll post back again.

Backup data, reformat card, put music back on. Open up Music player and it should find it (might take awhile depending on how much music you have)

Hi All,
I am a newbie with Android,
So i decided to format the Internal SD, no problem.
After that my Internal SD had no Music(mp3) map..
So where do i have to put the mp3's ?
Thanks
It doesn't matter, that's what the media scanning is for. All your mp3s will show up in your music player.
I did already put the MP3's in the Internal SD map, but it doesnt show up at the phone MP3 player?
Format = Wipe Data .
jje
Can you explain me, what you want to tell me with Wipe data?
You have formatted the internal sd card yes .
if you format then you have wiped the data on that card .
Data from a formatted card may be recoverable using a tool like Recuva dependant upon the type of format .
jje
There is no Recuva for Mac OSx, but is there not another way without using a program?
Your phone is not a mac so i would google for a recovery program that works from a mac or try recovering from a Windows PC .
jje
I was talking about my iMac, there is no Rescuva for Mac OSx..
But i think there is another way without using program, because in the Internal SD there are few maps but not a map(s) for mp3,video..
damn !! you are so confusing lol, if you have formatted your internal sd card, you have wiped everything off it INCLUDING YOUR MUSIC !!!! if you want to try and get it back search google for ' recovery software for MAC'
if that is too much for you to take in and your brain cant handle the immense pressure of googling something, then just download your music again and put it back on the phone.
I am not that stupid mister!, i dont want the music or something else back, there is "no map for music/mp3".
If i put the MP3's in the Internal SD "map" self, they dont show up in the Music Player! so now you understand me?
well finally i understand lol........... BUT !!! whenever i put a song on to the sd card (not in any folder) my music player finds them.. What music player are you using ?? the stock one ??? i use winamp its much better
If i put the MP3's in the Internal SD "map" self, they dont show up in the Music Player! so now you understand me?
Eventually
Do you make a folder in your sd card for music.
Can you see the music in my files .
jje
Buy an external sd card and save yourself the hassel in the future..
Formatted again, and this time did it!
What the hell is a map?

Hey guys. Today i decided to treat my X8 by buying a 8GB class 4 micro sd card to replace the stock 2GB micro sd card...all went well ! Within half an hour i copied & pasted everything out of my old card and into the new. That is until i tried to play some songs when i found that none of my songs appear...AT ALL ! Then i tried going into gallery. Same thing !!! I need help with this cuz i don't want to know that i wasted all that money on something that doesn't work T-T
P.S. : Running GDX V21, Alfs kernel V04. I've tried formatting it and THEN pasting the files from my old card. Still the same
P.S.P.S : By "my" X8, I mean my friends one which, in a few days or weeks will be mine

mayb u got a corrupt sd card?
open file explorer in the phone and look if there is something on the card. if you see all your folders and files, try to reboot your phone or install this from the maket.
if you don't see the files on your sd card, try to format the card from the settings in phone, not with pc
hope this will help you
crap...my sd card was also damaged ..it says sd card is damaged please format it...my heart broke ..4gb worth of pics , songs , videos GONE
there might be 2 solutions that I know:
1) Sdcard or the files may be corrupted. - Try to format the sdcard and put just one picture(a picture that you can view without any problems on pc) and see if you can view it.
2)nomedia - make sure there isn't any ".nomedia" file in the root of sd card or check in the folders where your music is store.
HOPE THAT HELPS

You can try formatting your SD card from your computer, maybe it helps.
Use the pc. There 2 types of format. FAT AND ntfs. Have you tried both? Also try quick and the regular one.

Ok...after ALOT of experimenting i finally pin pointed the prob....i used this app called Rescan Media Root...they say that every boot is slow because yr phone is scanning all the media files (Media Scan)...if you disable it, it'll speed up boot time ! But what happens in my case is it disabled the scanning, forever...so it never bothered to scan the sd card for my media files :S...after i reenabled it, it worked !

try to format ur sd card to this low formatting tools
http://hddguru.com/software/HDD-LLF-Low-Level-Format-Tool/HDDLLFsetup.4.12.exe
this save my 4gig sd card
this is free for personal use
Reflash rom. Full Wipe. If still not working return the sdcard back to the shop.
So.
I'm currently running tonyps 4. build of cyanogenmod 10.1, with the may 26. nightly of kowalski kernel.
I have all my music stored on my external SD card, appart from one track (My ringtone) that's on the internal SD.
Sometimes apollo won't find any music other than the single track on my internal SD card, and when I open the file browser app, it won't find my external SD card at all.
To find my music again I have to remove my SD card and reinsert it, and sometimes that doesn't work either, and I have to do it several times.
Rebooting the phone doesn't solve the problem.
When this happens, the playlist I've made suddenly become empty, wich is VERY annoying, since it means I have to recreate my playlist every time I go jogging.
Can anyone suggest any way to fix this?
I tried googling the issue, but I can't really find any solutions.
Try out your external SD card on another phone, and if possible, another SD card on this phone to make sure that both your card and card slot are working fine, to eliminate hardware related issue. Or, you could also check in another ROM if you want to confirm that the problem is ROM-related.
Any suggestions... (I've eliminated any problems with FireKat and PopRocks. They are solid)
Running FireKat V20 (4.1.1.) SD card tested and is readable/writeable (128Gb). Pics are in proper DCIM\Camera folder on SD. Music is in Music\ folder on SD. (some players find music but "PlayerPro" and "Sound Picker" do not find music. Cannot change ringtone with Sound Picker or other programs (says unable to change ringtone). The pics will only show in Gallery by displaying through Picasa. These problems also occur even on stock rom before flashing custom rom. Oh, also tried "fix permissions".
I've tried everything I could think of including Odin back to beginning several times. Tried PopRocks rom, no joy. Believe my I've tested and experimented with a lot of stuff but cannot solve the problem.
Any suggestions to help correct finding my pics and music on SDCard would be appreciated.......
Update Pics & Music only on Internal storage
I've determined that pics and music do show up if stored in "Internal" storage.
If I copied all pics & Music to internal storage I can see all.
Is there a way to "move" those files from internal to external storage other than just moving in root explorer??

are you doing a factory reset/clean flash after odin, if not make sure you do so, and also format your sd card using your device instead of your computer
Yes, factory reset/clean flash wiping everything except SD Card many times to try and find the problem. I'll try wiping and formatting the sd card, I have not done that yet.
Thanks!
Hi,
I'm feeling really stupid and I hope someone can make sense of this for me.
I've always been confused with the virtual paths that recent Android versions use in the file structure, and am having a hard backing up my SD card to my PC.
I actually want to copy this file:
/storage/emulated/0/AuthenticatorPlus/authplus.db
to my PC so I can copy it to a different device, but would like to a backup at the same time.
I inserted the card into my PC and copied everything onto the PC, only to discover that I couldn't find the folder or the file. Worse yet, I realized that while I have what looks like hundreds of folders on my SD card, I have exactly SEVEN in my backup folder on the PC.
And now I'm having a hard time matching up the files on the PC to those on the SD card. For example, I found a file in the Downloads folder on the PC. I found it on the SD card, but the path is given as
/storage/3737-3334/Downloads
Huh? Can someone make sense of this for me? How can I copy my authplus.db file to my PC, or better yet, back up my entire SD card and make the backup look like what I see on the card?
Thanks!
P.S. I just decided I'd try uploading the file to Dropbox and when I selected the SD card, Dropbox showed me the same folders I'm seeing on the PC! What am I looking at?

That's because /storage/emulated/0 is considered a virtual SD card meaning a fake SD card and this is usually where downloads go.. The other one /storage/3737-3334/ is the actual real SD card that you put in the phone yourself.. The SD cards name is 3737-3334 that's why it shows up like that.. Basically the system downloads everything on to the fake SD card and it's your choice to copy it and paste it into the real SD card because anything that's in the fake SD card will get erased if you have to factory reset or anything.. Both of them the fake SD card and real one should both have to close to the same folders in them like music, music pictures, pictures media, media etc. etc. You get it? You manually HAVE to move the files to your real SD card FIRST and then you can remove it and copy it.. Just highlight everything in the fake SD card and then copy it over to the real one it's really easy.

Wow, I've seen that 3737-3334 before but I have never heard this explanation. I knew we were dealing with virtual paths but had didn't know I had access to a location. This makes sense. Thank you!
