There are 700 hundred rooting threads i dont know where to look for my questions. i want to do 1-click root. Do i need the Android SDK and will I have to do emulator stuff? Or do i just click to root, then im ready to flash roms?

You only need to click to root...see it's main thread over in the themes section.

[Q] Voodoo - Install and Uninstall

Hi all,
Sorry if this has been asked before, but there are so many posts its hard to sift through them all.
I've been to project voodoo's web site and found that I can download the update.zip file put it in the main directory, then install it via recovery mode.
Is there anything extra to it? Root phone?
If i want to uninstall it, how do I do it?
Is there a tutorial based on this? Or another thread?
Thanks guys!

I know what you mean... you just want the instructions plain and simple with no cmd language to it... kinda need a a-z guide. All the info is on the Voodoo home page, but imo it needs to be broken down a little more for the novice user, and become more open source as it should be and not like a ubuntu forum with geek language lol - geek language just frightens people away..

I don't see any mention of having to root the phone... Is that true?

You may have more replies asking on that thread as it is specific to it or in the Q&A section rather than here in the General section.
i dont think u deserve an answer, perhaps you should learn how to use your search function!
Found most answers what about odin? where do i download that?

Thread reported, not development, and this question is explained in great detail.
There are at least three drop-dead easy root methods for Galaxy S.
While I'm at it:
CF Root (flash with Odin, provides easy root)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
z4 Root (just install app, very easy, works on almost all ROMs)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
SuperOneClick (run app on PC, pretty easy, works with all ROMS AFAIK)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
Edit: just a reminder to use search next time and read stickies

Very well said. I might just quote you on this and paste your response on the next 300 "how to root" questions that will come in here at the Q&A section

Oooooo.. feature idea. Have the system auto post this to new threads posing this question in the opening post. And then send the thread to the trash bin.
To be fair to the OP, he's also asking about the recovery signing issue (3e). Personally, I run a custom ROM that includes a kernel which has fixed the recovery issue already resolved. You can do the same or flash virtually any of the kernels found in the dev section. For example, check out the SpeedMod kernel.

If I am not mistaken, CF root should take care of that. But I haven't used it in months so I could be wrong.

Basic Root Question

So after reading almost every thread here I just want to conform. I am not interested in any custom Roms just basic root so that I can use a couple specific apps. We are not able to do that with the AT&T version at this point, correct?
Thanks

Not as of yet...give it a few weeks

Stock firmware, flashable through Odin (download included)

Now that we have root, hoping putting this download here will lead to some development. All credit to Sunderwear for the original upload.
If anyone needs me to upload other stuff for ROM development, just let me know what to grab.

Can someone contact Sunderwear and have him grab files for newest release from ATT so that PingPong Root can be built for new rom? I haven't taken ROM yet because of this.

Just saw in another post someone has sent them the kernel and other files. Shouldn't be too long.
I don't think they patched the exploit, so hopefully it'll be up the next couple of days. Would really like some nice upgrade options.
This is a development section not general. Conversations belong elsewhere. Since this serves no other purpose other than provide stock firmware the thread has served its purpose.
