Hey Guys,
I just entered the world of Flashing Roms and is completely taken aback by all the amazing ROMS available here.
The one thing I hate so much in my TP2 is the default music player. The way the library is managed is just awful. Especially due to the lack of scrolling by alphabet feature.
I know there are other music players out there that does a better job. But I was just wondering whether there are any stable roms out here which has tweaked the default manila music player?
Please dont bash me if this has already been discussed. I did a lot of search in the ROM Development thread and couldnt find anything relevant.
Thanks in advance
Hi, I don't know if it's any ROM with a modified HTC player out here, but I think the easiest way is to just install a player you like, and use that.
I think HTC player is nothing more than just a slightly modified user interface of the windows mobile player. It's the WinMo player that sucks unfortunately. I always experience the device running slow with the music player and would love to use a better player.
I think installing third party player is the best option.

Nitrogen is a really good lightweight music player, with some amazing skins as well. But I don't want a lightweight one. Man.. I wish there was a music player for WM with all the functions music players should have, like: Playcount, search, nice organised libraries (not just searching your entire storage card...), nice playlist setup etc. I'm gonna try out MortPlayer soon, just after I get these ROMs uploaded

+1 for Conduits Pocket Player.
I'm using the Sense interface when it comes to music, you just need to organize your favorite sings into playlists Makes the player a far more usable imo.

I setup MortPlayer last night, it's pretty awesome as well Just have to get a new theme. iGloss and Blob (or something like that) are both really brilliant.
Music App for Windows Mobile
S2P is a good music app with alphabetized song, album, and artist listings. It has a nice layout with full screen album art. Really easy to use.

Hi,
I tried using Windows Media player to play songs but they do not support copy right m4a files and other misc audio formats. Thus i used TCPMP player which is good to solve the problem but it does not have a SEARCH function.. any advice and other takes on other audio players?
Audio Manager is good. Works when display is off.
S2P or Slide 2 Play is the best one.
Audio manager is good but you can't specify a single folder to use, it will automatically scan for all mp3 and sometimes other audio files on the mem card. I it wasn't for that I would say Audio Manager.
I tested S2P but it does not have the SEARCH function, it doesn't even support playlist function... but its interface is very nice... any more better audio players out there?
I use Mortplayer and I also tried GSPlayer earlier on (both shouldn't be hard to find).
DUDE, this is a phone not an mp3 or a qps device. You don't need to play audio..
tcPiMP gets my vote.
Mort Player
Mort player is my favorite!
It has it all - great for Audio books too!
Get it here:
Stable version
Beta version
Vista Skin
or see below...
Enjoy!

are you kidding me? why do people like you always chime in like this w/ irrelevant replies
"i dont use my phone for this, so i think its dumb that anyone else uses its for (blank) purpose"
if you forgot, there are phones like the iphone, sony ericson music phones, nokia n series, etc that are great multipurpose phones...which is EXACTLY what the kaiser is. if you're gonna stick w/ that ideology why don't you stick to a nokia 3395.
PocketMusic Rocks
For me this is a serious bit of kit. It's my phone, GPS, personal organizer and now an MP3 player in the car. That was made possible with PocketMusic - http://www.pocketmind.com/pmfp.htm
Get the full version otherwise the real benefits are not seen.
Finally a new music player. Im testing it out right now. Ive already noticed something it has that I wanted and that bigger album artwork. Its called the mixzing player. And it analyzes your music library and gives you suggestions on music. Its pretty good so far. It won me over with album artwork!!! lol
post some links?
What app are you talking about, I don't see a new music app in the market?
Search for MixZing music player. Its free
Not seeing it in the market, is that where you downloaded it.
Looks like it got removed... I saw it earlier and was going to download it...
I hope it doesn't resurface as a paid app...

Can't find it on the market. Could you please link us to it. Maybe take a back up of it using Astro file manager, upload it somewhere and link us to it. I hope this is not piracy as the software is free right??

thnx man...it works...cheers...!!!
It's Lite => There would be a paid version.
anyone know if scrobbledroid works with non-stock media players?
No it doesn't, which is to be expected, as it is written specifically to the default media player. Just listened to the same song on both default and Mixzing and it was only scrobbled after playing on the default player.
that sucks. I like to have my music scrobbled. (I still haven't figured out WHY though. lol)
Yeah I DL'd MixZing before it disappeared and so far it is pretty nice. I am a stickler for album art and the default player is pretty weak in the aspect. I have TuneWiki too but the artwork results are spotty with that. MixZing appears to be a simple reskin of the native music app with suggestions added and larger artwork plus a slightly nicer UI. I just wish they would work on the image resolution for the album art. Every one looks a little blurry. Other thatn that it is definately an improvement over the stock player.
overall im pretty happy with it, its a bit slow, and thats my only gripe about it. Otherwise, the album covers look nice so does the interface.

Hi,
I also downloaded the lite version from the link inside this post but how do I get the album artwork (the covers)?!
It is the main reason for me for searching for a better music player and I do not see any cover ...
cu
Download link
Thanks for the download! It seems a little bit buggy right now (which may be why it was taken down) There is a lot of potential with this music app.
It currently makes great suggestions with a decent UI.
• Unless you are review the recommended songs, the >>| button only repeats the song.
• Also, when playing the recommended songs, it only plays 30 seconds. - I don't know if this is how it was written or they are using this as a 'preview' to purchase.
• Shows the artist album artwork in the background however, the 'recommendation' field covers most of the image
Thanks again!
Hello,
When I show the recommandation I sometimes get the cover in the backgground of the song.
But how do I get it into the Album list etc.?

For album covers what I do is sync my music onto my sd card through windows media player. If you use advanced tag editor and add your album art there it will encode it into the file when it syncs to your card.
Can anyone reccomend a better mp3 player? The built in one sucks IMO

Mixzing player is the best Music Player (it is free)
Yeah, it's not too bad, and rockon isn't that bad either, weirdly you can download it for free here http://abrantix.org/rockon.php but have to pay on the market.
Have half a mind to write a better one, maybe some day.
I user Meridian, pretty much all in one for video and music. Does album art, supports hand gestures, shows lyrics, use the handset button to play/pause and other stuff. Tad bit on the slow side, but still good.
I was gonna make pos tlike this..question do all music apps run as a service?
my post from over at ******
Just one of my posts from nokia apps i thought i should bring to the table I'm not sure if this is the best place for it but i thought it might be helpful.
Mixzing Cyrket - MixZing Music Player - nice look and feel, pretty solid once you turn off recommendation, and prevent it from creating a new playlist everytime you play a new track. Ultimately i defaulted back to the standard as it has a background process.
Tunewiki Cyrket - Tunewiki - if you like the look and feel of the ipod touch this is for you. if you can stand/replace the icon. Lyrics can be turned off which is good, and it has full youtube integration like the standard. Again it has a background process that will not die!
Meridian Cyrket - Meridian Player - really don't get the appeal of this player but it does seems pretty popular. cool swipping motions!
Ambient Ambient Music Player - About - actually a pretty good mp3 player but you wont find it in market, i think this projects been abandoned which is a shame........
Rock On RockOn for Android - intends to deliver an itunes/songbird media flow method of browsing music. Still very beta but great promise.
droidPlayer lite http://www.cyrket.com/package/com.droidplayer.activity - Ok so the lite version is really limited, like 10 songs to a playlist limited, the controls don't feel great and i think it's pretty ugly not to mention it's fondness for force closeville. I've not tried the full version but if the lite is anything to go on, it wont be worth buying a key.
Instinctiv http://instinctiv.com/download_G1.html - Very very light application, the ipod shuffle of the group, nothing fancy. Force quits a lot on me but not everyone reports this problem!
Ongoing Music Adapter Cyrket - Ongoing Music Adapter Lite - not really a media player as such but a handy toy if you ever launch mp3s from your browser or a file manager and then want to actually go on with playing with the phone.
mp3tagger Cyrket - mp3tagger - not a media player at all but if you're as irritated by metatag errors as i am
As for Diggin I'm sure we'll all hear if it ever launches till then watch this space http://www.digginmobile.com/
Personally i don't really use the mp3 players much i tend to use streaming media application such as:
Last.fm Cyrket - Last.fm - Personal Radio If you don't use last.fm check it out it's brilliant, recommends music based on your listening patterns and it learns quickly, I think it's fantastic as it seems to know my mood after about 3-4 rejections!
Nutsie Cyrket - Nutsie Pretty solid app, basically your media library on the move
Music On Demand Cyrket - Dizzler - not bad system but it seems to buffer a lot which can be very frustrating
Imeem Cyrket - imeem - I'm not a fan, it's a solid enough app but you can only skip 6 songs in an hour so you may find yourself choosing another app if you have a few crap songs lined up!
Please feel encouraged to add any new finding!
I agree ... I like hat large album art feature of Mixzng .... but man this phone lacks a decent sexy looking mp3 player!
Re: droidPlayer
Hey there,
Try the new version 1.2.0 ! 3d animation and response is much faster,
no hang ups so far. In lite-version you can have now 20 songs in song-mode instead of 10,
which is enough for me.
Later dudes,
I love my phone but yeah the music player sucks donkey. I hate the fact that it shows ringtones too. The one thing I wish we had from the iphone is the media player. I like the way its set up simple, sleek and sexy. Someone should port that to Android.
The one thing that is missing from all of them is an on screen volume adjustment. I normally use mixzing and have my phone sitting on my desk at work. It would be easier to just tap the screen to adjust the volume rather then having to mess with the buttons on the side.
No, I am not so lazy that I can't pick up my phone. I had it on my Wizard and I really kind of miss it.
Ive tried searching and googling but I cannot find the best dedicated Music app for the HTC touch pro.
Any help would be fantastic. thanks.
Personally, my favorite app to play audio is TCPMP. It is lightweight, but highly customizable. It is the only app I know that allows you to control playback speed (something I like).
i ve a wired headset w/all the playing buttons (play-stop,pause,vol+-,etc) and it only works with windows media playe. At least without making some reg changes.
I use Nitrogen. It's one of my favorites.
I use HTC Audio Manager. It looks clean and it recognizes the playlists I created in Win Media Player.
the best has to be Pocket Music hands down, it has way more features and options than any of the above and i know coz i've used all of them, Pocket Music lets you customize it heaps and it includes radio FM and tons of equalizers, playlists and skins etc, it's awesome.
me too
I am also searching for a better audio player. The windows media player that come with my room is a big brick of SH*T. I hate it, while playing, the music stop when end, and looks like the phone is dead. Too slow.
Coreplayer is good, but dont have much options and crashes.
The one i am using now is Pocket music player, but it also have a lot of bugs and CRASHES too, at least have so many options, and its a lot flexible. and thats what i want, but there is a delay when changing music ( i dont know why, is this configurable?) that i really dont like.
any one knows something better than Pocked music?
how about S2P?
It's my favorite APP with WM6.5 HTC Touch Pro...
I like Nitrogen too. It has nice looking skins and I like using the sleep timer.

I like Conduits Pocket Player better. Check it out.
My vote goes to S2P - combined with S2U2 it is absolutely perfect
I'm missing some features though like playlists or viewing some additional info (bitrate etc.)
I like s2p for music and pocket player for podcasts, PP has a great bookmarking feature that alot of others don't have
I like windows media player mobile. Coz it supports my audio adapter hardware buttons. But I miss the sleep/close/pause timer on it.
PocketMusic in Hermes 2 months ago, now TouchFLO Music Tab
I had used PocketMusic on my Dopod 838 Pro (HTC Hermes)..
It has features I need :
Sleep Timer
Playlist
Control playing with Hardware buttons even when minimized (like in Nokia XpressMusic)
Bass Boost
Now, I'm using the built-in TouchFLO 3D 2.1 dedicated Music Tab on my HTC Touch Pro..
Now, I need a player with PocketMusic features that can replace the Music Tab (because I love the integration), also better if it has integration with S2U2
S2P hides the taskbar, right?
I just got a Lumia 920 and I absolutely hate the music players they have on it. The Nokia app is only a little better than the stock Xbox music app. For one thing, you can't specify where to look for your music, so it adds any MP3 file on the phone to your music list, which makes doing shuffle a pain. And for some reason, it is impossible to get a playlist on the phone unless all the songs are in the same folder. Anyone know a decent music player, or at least a way to get a good playlist on the phone? I tried using Mediaplayer from the pc and no luck.
Thanks for any help!
yeah and i cannot see all songs now playing (album tracks), only one. I cannot see how many songs in album remains and cannot select another. It sucks
I have found really nice alternative music player. It is simple, but usefull: Album flow

Disagree totally. On my Nokia Lumia the player is pretty nice, does what it's supposed to. Has an equalizer with presets and manual, suggests Nokia MixRadio channels where locally played music can be found (great to find other good music) and shows background images of the playing band from the net. It's actually a very nice player.

Just if you compare it to a stone. if you compare it to a decent music player it sucks. but in regards of your other postings i sense you dont care about the rest anyways
I ended up dumping my 920 and going back to Android on a Samsung S3, and much happier now. Not just for the music player (though PowerAmp is awesome!), but for the horrendous lack of basic features. Too bad, I really wanted to like my Windows phone.
I also don't care for the music player apps available on the Lumia 920. I keep hoping for a Rockbox port - mostly because it supports all the codecs I have.
Great alternative for music player on wp

I play mostly local music stored on my phone. And for those uses musictastic is by far the best player I have found. Its free, reads playlists I create on my desktop from windows media player, looks great, shuffle fun too works as it should, and displays album art correctly. Definetly worth a try.
