Rom backup - Wildfire Android Development

Hi !
I am new to HTC, so how can someone dump his phones ROM before he start trying to mod/root/unbranding it ?

You can not fully backup your phone before you start to hack your phone.
The first step in hacking your phone is to install a custom recovery.
After that you can make a backup of your rom with the program nandroid.
This is started in the recovery mode.
The only way to restore to the original status is by running the RUU update utility from htc.

[Q]UnRooted my N1, Now what?

What's next? aside from installing ROMS?
If you UN-rooted it, then you're stock.
if you ROOTED it, you can run programs that require root access.
If you are going to explore the custom rom options you will probably want a copy of Rom Manager. This wonderful app will enable you to flash a custom recovery, manage Nandroid backups and flash roms.
In the spirit of prevention being better than a bricked phone... MAKE SURE YOU DO A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE FLASHING A CUSTOM ROM!! ('Backup Current ROM') from within Rom Manager.
yes for sure the first thing you should do is install ROM manager, let it flash clockwork recovery if necessary, then download a ROM and i highly suggest you try cyanogen 6.1 first. feel that out for a week or so, then go from there.
and do a nand backup first! ROM manager will do the backup for you.

[Q] Stock Bootloader

Hi there,
Not long ago i got a P970 and proceeded to root it and install CWM on my device using an all in one solution from this site, unfortunately it didn't seem to create a backup of the stock bootloader and i am unable to perform updates to the device as they all try to boot in to the stock bootloader to finish the update process which is ofc missing, does anyone have a copy of the stock bootloader for the P970, incase its of relevance i'm using one in the UK on the Orange network
I thank you in advance for any replies
Bump anyone got a copy of the bootloader?
If you flash stock vanilla rom it will overwrite CWM with stock.

Couple of small issues is that i dont want to lose everything i've installed and setup so far and the only images i can find of the stock ROM's are .kdz files which use the LG tools to flash and those require me to be able to boot to the standard software update tool found on the phone which doesn't seem to work with CWM installed as i can't do any OTA updates either.
dude, I already answered to you by pm. this cannot be saved, you have to flash again to recover the standard loader. AND, you don't have to boot or something else except going in s/w mode. just backup your apps / datas with 3nd party app then restore them after the flash. standard recovery is absolutely uneeded and is even useless. you might restore full datas with cwm by going into the advanced menu.

[Q] Q: How to create a nandroid for pure edition

My phone 32gb pure should arrive soon. How can I create a nandroid or full backup right off the bat?
Thanks,
Dan
You need to flash or boot into a custom recovery like TWRP, in it will allow you to make a backup. There is no custom recovery available yet, but it will be eventually, keep checking the Developer sections from time to time. To flash a custom recovery you need to unlock the bootloader as well, the instruction for that is in the general section.
You don't necessarily need a nandroid when factory firmware become available, since you can flash it to restore the phone to factory state.

[Q] Can't Restore GPE ROM

Hey guys, having some issues restoring a backup of a GPE ROM that I made with ROM Manager on a working device. It goes through the process of doing the restore and then boots to the google splash screen, but never goes past that point (waited 45 minutes twice).
The ROM is GPE 5.0.1 rooted. I'm using the lastest recovery from clockwork mod and have tried several times. Not finding anything on the web regarding this issue. Perhaps the backup is just borked?? Im (obviously) S-Off and unlocked. Not sure why im not able to restore to my prevous state. Works like a charm with cyanogenmod ROMS...
Any thoughts?
I want to help but I don't entirely get what you did.
so you made a backup and you can't restore it, right? I have some questions, if you were kind enough to answer them, I may be able to help you:
> What "ROM Manager" did you create your backup with?
> Is it an entire ROM backup, like the TWRP, CWM do it?
> What Android Version is the backup?
I am thinking that you might didn't backup the boot partition properly so you can't boot your phone. there would be a compatibility issue with your boot.img and the system and data partition. So you can boot but because of the compatibility issues you can't boot entirely and keep stuck in the bootloop. that's what I think what it is but I am not 100% sure so I asked you the questions above.
And it would be very helpful if you could make a photo of the backup restore screen (inside cwm/twrp .. with whatever of those you are trying to restore the backup)

[Q] Full backup device

Hello everyone
I borrowed a Galaxy Advance with "mobile star" rom that based on version of Android 2.3.6, without Root and with original recovery.
The device has data and applications on it.
i want to reset the device before i start to use it.
but before that, I would like to perform a full backup device (like nandroid).
when i need to return the device i would like to restore the galaxy advance to the starting point i got the phone.
I would prefer not to do root to the device if it not necessary.
how can i do full backup?
thanks
Hi there,
You can try this method:
[Tool][Windows/Linux][4.0+] Holo Backup - Full backup without root!
Good luck
Full backup

i have android 2.3.6, and holo backup work only from version 4.
there is any other option?
maybe i will root the galaxy advance i9070 and install twrp recovery for nandroid backup.
after that i want to return to previous recovery.
i understand that there is option with dd or adb commands to do backup .
how can i do backup for my current recovery? that after i finished to use the phone i want to return to original recovery through Odin.
