I'm a hero200 user in China. And I choose Google Input method.
Today, i have tried many ROMs, including flipz's, damange control's and other guys' new ROMs, and got the same disppointed results:
None of those ROM can support Chinese SMS very well
Whenever i send a Chinese SMS, the receiver will get a totally blank SMS. Not a word could show on screen. Bu i still get a sucessfully-sent notification from China Telecom, the only one CDMA-2000 provider in China.
My friends have the same problem. We are all confused. since in our opinion, 2.1 should support Chinese sms WELL.
Could someone advise the reason for blank SMS?

I falshed this file over flipz 2.0d ROM. However, blank SMSs show up again…………

i have got the same problem, but flipz's fresh 2.0a is working very well with UTF-8 or Chinese SMS.
What a pity if the coming official 2.1 rom from Sprint will not work just as damageless's rom.

We noticed, Roms based on eris official ROM support Chinese SMS very well but those based on hero200 official ROM failed.
Does that mean Sprint did some changes and removed Chinese SMS supporing?

Right. But how this happened? According to Flipz' discription, Flipz 2.0d is very closed to the final official one. I wonder whether Spirnt cancelled supporting for Chinese SMS

hero of the Hong Kong and Taiwan version, so do not worry htc does not release the kernel without the support of the Chinese rom
I am now using their localization of 2.0c, Chinese SMS support good

Im using the same ROM. But it dosen't include the option" share the interet" when connecting to a computer. I do need it. So i am looking for updated ROMs.
Since everybody said Flipz 2.0d is so closed to Sprint Official ROM, I am so worried accordingly^^
about the flipz rom 2.0d
yeah, you should notice when first boot in flipz 2.0d ,there is no location seletcted in step one, it has selected English by default, but in flipz 2.0c it is different . There is the same situation in the DC V2.05.
You can compare the zip files between flipz 2.0c and flipz 2.0d(or DC V2.05 ),
I think the problem is caused by the file of framework-res.apk (\system\framework\framework-res.apk). Maybe.
This file in flipz 2.0d and DC V2.05 is different from it in flipz 2.0c which has no problem in Chinese SMS.
My English is poor! sorry.
Then should i just replace this file with the one from older ROMs.
Dose it work?

Hey!
You don't need any Dutch FW or anything. Just follow instructions given here and you're sorted.
You can upgrade to any firmware you want. Our (I'm from India too) stock firmware isn't available unfortunately. Personally, I'd go with JG5. Totally loving the firmware! Though you can flash to Paul's r2. You'll have to flash JG1 first and use the update over that. Also, you'd be automatically rooted if you flashed the r2.
It's pretty difficult to brick your phone honestly. If a flash doesn't work out right you can almost always just enter the download mode and re-flash. I've had issues myself, but nothing to fret about really.

I'm an Indian user too (Bangalore). Bought my SGS almost 2 weeks ago. Was VERY annoyed with the stock firmware (DDJF3). The black-outs really got on my nerve. Will you not be irritated if your 30k phone hangs up on you for several seconds (to open the dialer app so you can type the number down) right when the pretty girl you're talking to offers to give you her phone number, and you have to ask her to wait 5 seconds to write it down?! Of course, the black-outs aren't there all the time. Usually only when you use the phone after a long gap (at least in my case). But it's still VERY annoying. That's NOT what I paid 30k for!
So yeah, finally flashed to JG5 a few days ago. Very happy with it. Although I can still see the black screens, it's always for ~1 second max and it only happens with some apps. Dialer and Contacts don't lag at all anymore. I really think you're gonna love your phone even more if you upgrade your firmware to JG5
Use mimocans lagfix from the sticky if you have a micro sd and way the lag gone.

I am also from India (Delhi), and currently running rooted JG5 firmware with the sdcard lag fix
I am Hyderabad & i am on jg5 rooted with sd lag fix. Great phone now.
Only thing i am missing after sd card fix is the default ringtones & notifications. Othrwise loving it.
I have recovered from a bricked state about 10 days ago so follow the steps correctly.

Hi ed10000 ...i bought galaxy s two days back , it has i9000ddjf3 firmware n facing d same issue of black screen for 5-10 sec, while launching contact , phone call or other apps... i want to flash it with JG5 , would u plz tell me full version of JG5(i9000_ _ JG5) and you used and d link where from u downloaded this firmware , you flashed it with all three file (PDA , Phone , CSC ) or only with PDA . i m using Airtel connection ...may i get any problem regarding connectivity after flashing ?

Hey guys got my galaxy s from mumbai (irla, andheri). Using from past 2 weeks and this phone rocks.
Guys dont go with jg5, iam on jm2 and it rocks. Rooted with update.zip method and used root explorer to remove unwanted apps and media. This baby rocks. Loving the built in task manager and asphalt 5 is cool.
I have tried samset custom rom when i was on jg5 but i didnt get any performance boost. Iam really happy with the jm2 and waiting for the promised froyo update in the month of august or september.

Hi Abhay,
It is I9000XWJG5. You can download it here. Use the 512 pit which can be found here. I used all 3 files to flash (PDA = CODE, PHONE = MODEM, CSC = CSC). I did it with the re-partition option enabled. I'm using Airtel too, and before flashing the new firmware, I used an app called "APN Backup & Restore" which can be found on the Market to backup my APN settings. Then after flashing JG5, install the same app again and restore the settings. No issues regarding connectivity after that .
Also, I've seen many people report lag in JM2, so I'm still on JG5 and will probably use the same until the next official firmware release. It's just stable and works the way one would expect it to.
BTW, a simple but a very effective tip - once you open the Phone app or the Contacts app, don't use the back button to close it. Use the Home button. I've found that it opens in an instant the next time you use it if you follow this. Same applies for all apps (like Messaging, Music Player etc.).

I bought my SGS 2 weeks back and OMFG it rocks. I can usually be found rocking it in the office elevator and when people ask about it I act all annoyed
Anyway, I rooted the phone and have taken a Titanium backup. I plan to flash JG5 and do the lagfix, but will Titanium restor ALL my apps and settings? I have spent of a lot of time customizing this baby (I would highly recommend the paid version of LauncherPro Plus) and don't want to lose all that hard work.
Also, once I apply the lagfix, will it be a problem flashing future FW's?

Yes. It is possible to partition without resorting to Computer. Search the internet for 'sdparted'. But that script will not help you create EXT3/EXT4. Works only with EXT2 and FAT32 etc. I guess it may support EXT3/4 partition resize though.

There have been people here who were adventurous enough to go ahead & flsh their phones to whatever they wanted. A few of them got their phones BRICKED. Cant to ahead, cant go back, STUCK. They went & complained at the service centers that they were trying to update via Kies, the official Samsing software & god knows what went wrong, its BRICKED. I think they ended up convincing them. Well, tjis is the gist of what I have learned from the forums, its your call, you take it. I am from Hubli, Karnataka, India. I hated the stock ROM, updated to JG4 via Kies, Hated it, Updated to JPC, Loved it, Updated to JPH, aahhh, beautiful.

Guys, I am from Bangalore and living with JG4. I havent applied any lagfix or GPS fix.
I am generally happy with JG4 but yea, havent seen a offical update in a while.
I am rooted: Search for 1-click Root/Unroot for Galaxy S
With a click you can root yourself and can unroot too - for warranty reasons.
Never observed a lag as such but I use AutoKiller Memory. Keeps my phone smooth; no lags.Try the aggressive setting.
GPS works good, fix is fast and position perfect. I use Google Navigation [BRUT], yes you can use the US Google navigation here in India with spoken street names - hows that. Recently I did a Bangalore - Pondicherry drive just on Google Navigation and it was awesome. I had all internal village roads mapped and navigated me through it. As you already know, the stock official Google Navigation doesnt work.

Anybody from Mumbai ? Thats my hometown. There's an APP for rickshaw/taxi fare here on android market. Right now it works for Mumbai only. That was the best one I could find.

Search 'brut google maps 4.4' in google. Use the first link to load BRUT versions while keeping your stock google maps and navigation versions. Use the Stockified versions if you want to replace teh stock ones. I didnt do that, and I am comfortable with BRUT versions sitting near the stock ones.
No you have to pay data charges. But seeing that you are on this phone, I guess you already have data enabled on your PC. And yea you stay in chennai, so definitely you have 3G as well. I switched to dreaded BSNL just to get 3G services.
But dont worry abt data too much. Surprisingly it doesnt uze that much. If you have wifi at home, just setup your flightplan and it will download tiles along your way. tiles are big enough so if you detour or so, you are still within the downloaded area. U need to enable cache in brut menu.
Personally, I dont use the voice directions in city. It doesnt give instructions but it says a sentence. thats too much to decode while driving. But that problem exists in original sw as well. I kept it on during my roadtrip and I had great experience. First thing you will notice is that its smooth, your car doesnt update in jumps or maps dont move in jumps, they just smoothly rotate or move. Alternate routes, layers on teh way...its all there and its great.
Best part is oneways etc gets updated frequently and automatically since u connect to the cloud. When a flyover construction started, within a month it started routing me with the official detour posted on the road by traffic authorities. So thats great.
Well, thats my experience though.
Just search for 'one click root unroot galaxy S' on this forum. Not sure if it will work for you since you are already rooted.

Looks like i am taking the dive and installing lagfix. I see 2 options - oneclick lay fix, or cflagfix.
Do you guys recommend any one of these?
Also in cant so 3buttons recovery and need to do that using clockmod's reboot to recovery option. Song if things don't work while Installation in will have to use odin only to reflash ddjg4. Something in have never done.
Song in was thinking of following sequence titanium backup - clockmod backup- odin reflash ddjg4 - install oneclick root - install oneclick lagfix / cflagfix - titanium restore.
If things break while installation of lagfix like in have seen phone not rebooting for many after installation of fix, then abort and reflash ddjg4 again.
Plz send in your comments. Any better way to do this. You can also say dont be so scared as you might have guessed i am sh$%the scared to do this and gathering my guts right now.

please help me i want to do this.. .

if possible please give me above mentioned 1 to 5 fixed files to install in original rom.. GB.WF07

What's the difference between this phone and i9000?
It has an SMS limitation of 80 characters and after 80 characters it converts it to MMS.
But i fixed it so now you can send any size SMS same as i9000.
thousands of peoples facing issues in this set but samsung team is still avoiding them all consumers. shame to samsung team coz not still fixing it

with mistake i clicked inm110s express tools > simplify system (all google apps removed) but in web playstore written app installed "help" to retrieve all google apps

Hi Nicole, I'm using M110s ... I'm from India ... please help me to over come my SMS limitation (of 80 bytes) to same as I9000 ...
Also, please let me know is there any way to flash ICS on my M110s ?

Just bought some weeks ago my S5 and now I've the update Lollipop reminder everyday.
I just had an bad experience with my last HTC, so now before going to Lollipop I would like to save my current and original ROM.
I've searched on Google and seen some people saying to use odin and oders CWM.
Can someone help to get my original ROM downloaded from my phone?
MY PHONE IS NOT ROOTED, can we do it anyway?

Hello. You can download the Original Stock ROM from Sammobile. Note down your Build Number which you can find Under Settings->Phone Info. Then head to sammobile and search for your Version,and download it. Beware that updating to lollipop,your baseband and Bootloader will change. You will also need the BL and Baseband for Kitkat,which you can find here on XDA,there is a collection just search for it
I know about that.
I've done it using Odin on my Samsung ACE2, but found different from original ROM!
One time I've upgraded to version 4.1.2 and it was so slow, that I had to downgrade again.
Just found Russian ROM to downgrade and it's a little different from my country.
If there is no option, so I will let the S5 go to Lollipop!
Let see if I don't get Camera problems, GSM or Wi-Fi.
I will cross fingers!!!

the green-blue background colour is terrible.
why not possible to change this theme, to black for instance?
the biggest negative problem is that I can't get write access to my micro-Sd card.
read in a lot of sites that wire access will be given to 3rd parties apps, but NOT TRUE!
does someone that has Lollipop has wire access to sd card with 3rd partie app?

because its not their job to pander to everyones needs. theyve used the same skin and color scheme for years now and its up to you to do research into what phone you want to buy and how it looks. the update has been out for so long that you could have seen its looks before you upgraded
