The official HTc PDFViewer only works in 1.5rom
When I install it on 1.6 rom, it gives error...
May be there is some lib file .so lost in 1.6 rom ?
So I need to look for one working.
I'm also missing the original PDF-viewer. Is there any that's even close to that good?
Also, a nice Office viewer app would be highly appriciated!

If you don't care to pay for quality there is Documents to go that allows you to view Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and PDF files. Its really nice! The free version allows you to view, the paid version you can edit. Don't know how much you'll be editing PDFs so maybe the free would be just fine.
You can get it here
Hi
I flashed SenseHero 2.2 ROM which is a pretty good Android 2.1 flash. Unfortunately, it comes without Google Maps and native HTC PDF viewer. Where can I get this apps from? I could not get any answer on SenseHero forums.
Thanks.
You can download Maps from the market.
Also running SenseHero

Thanks for the apk but I get "Application not installed" error even though I enabled unknown sources in application settings.
It's strange I can find Google Maps on Androlib site but it does not appear in Market search. Does Google restrict application based on client country?

Yes some countries do not get all apps. But there is something called Market Enabler,... Have a look for that.
And try these again for PDFViewer,... Put both in the same folder and then try to install again.
Let me know how it goes.

The new files give me the same error. I also tried to install Market enabler and its apk cannot be installed either. Seems like the project is outdated, the authors say they don't support the latest Market version.
I followed these instruction: http://strazzere.com/blog/?tag=pdfviewerapk which say additional libraries should be installed. After I put the libraries in the right place the application installed OK but it won't start. So I guess I will be needing the correct PDFViewer version (for Android 2.1). If anyone has it, please...
Haven't seen this posted so here is a hosts file for blocking ads. I removed the block in for CNN ads so the CNN app would still work. This would be for rooted users just extract the "Hosts" file and copy to /system/ect I recommend renaming your exiting file to hosts.bak. I use "Root Explorer" to do this. This will be useful to those who have installed the flash as now we have a boat load of ads.
thanks
There's an app in the market:

Thanks I prefer not to use an app if I don't have to. Will the app work on nonrooted xooms? I think that would be useful to some.
Edit:
Read that it doesn't so kinda pointless if you know how to copy a file.
Adfree has been around for a while and has an advantage over copying files all the time - it updates the host file whenever you need it to.
thanks works great
Thanks guys. Don't forget to hit "THANKS" if I've helped. BTW I use this on my Android phone too (Thanks Calkulin) it goes in the same location.
updated files can be found:

Thanks

I use ad free and love it. Blocks all ads even websites and updates are provided easily via the app. Again alot easier than having to copy the file every time.

thanks but not sure what you mean by "every time" every time what? I include it in my ROM so its there by default. Those who are using my ROM don't have to use any other ad blocking applications. It takes zero resources or memory. Also works on PCs.
Stupid question. Do we leave it named ZIP, do we rename the extension, or do we unzip it and move the contents? I wondered why CNN stopped working right on my Xoom. Now I know. Great app by the way. Awesome job.

I'm looking for the stock AOSP browser. I am on Bamf 1.5. I like it better then the HTC browser. Thanks in advance!
Id love this too
I'm gonna bump it even though I'm pretty sure the app won't work, I was gonna download an aosp rom such as cm7 but for some reason I can't find pdanet in the market on bamf 1.5 and I can't stand wireless tether and I don't have internet at my house. Guess I'll try downloading the rom on my phone and I'll be sure to let you know if the aosp internet app works

Wisenick look online for pdanet. Carriers are blocking tethering apps on the market.
Check out the link:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/04/29/carrier-crackdown-tethering-apps-are-being-blocked-in-the-android-market/
I think you can still sideload it.
I also want the ASOP Browser.
Alright I was able to get it to work, heres how:
Download this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16901155/apps/Browser.apk
Now I saved it to my phones SDcard.
I then use File Expert from the market to copy it to /system/app overwriting the old on. File Expert is able to do Root. Press menu > more > mount ReadWrite when your in system/app. Now paste it.
Next I tried opening it and got a force close. I ran fix permissions in clockwork and rebooted.
Works fine now.

Awesome, that's how I thought we had to do it, same as the mms app. Great stuff

I know this is old but thank god I found this thread!!!! I HATE the sense browser with a passion!!! I am so happy to have the AOSP browser now!
Does anyone have a copy of the latest AOSP Browser? The version in this thread appears to be old and lacking a few key features.
I installed CM 7.0.3 last Friday, I'm beginning to see more and more apps that say "installed" (from earlier) but trying to re-push them to my phone they now grey out my HTC Hero on Sprint saying the device isn't compatible.
I have the feeling this is an issue of the market assuming my HTC is stock and the newest builds of the apps are not compatible. Is there a way to indicate I'm using Android 2.3.3 so I can have Google Maps back?
I was able to get my Google Music beta as a .apk from someone and it installed fine manually and works great but was another just as above that wouldn't work through the market.
Hey I am having the same problem with the market not recognizing my hero. I am actually just looking for the google music beta app, =P so if you had a link I would appreciate that vmuch.

There is a copy of the music.apk but I believe you need to have the invite from Google Music Beta first before it will work. I had mine, loaded on PC went to my phone and was as I described above. Got the file from someone and loaded logged in and it works perfectly.
Thank you, I will try the links above
I would say that yes, that is affecting me, but I can't be the only one with a handset that wasn't designed to be running Gingerbread but is obviously compatible.
With all of the ROM community support of aging devices seems there must be a work around for this that is going to start to become a larger problem.
Making sure I make backups of my apps from now on seperately from my CWM recovery backups.
To get Google Music from the market, you have to edit your build.prop file. The instructions are in another thread. A simple search will find it.

change your buid.prop to say device is a "DROIDX", & youll have access to even more apps, & the google music app is in the cdma hero section for download, use the search
just cnanging the banner to droid x wont do it the apps that arnt available for are made for hdpi devices and tablets so when u try and instsall them itll say parse error
In your build.prop located in /system change your ro.opengles.version value from 65536 to 131072. So your end product looks like this: ro.opengles.version=131072
Can you edit that file with an app, or do you need to use adb? I tried using es file explorer but no dice, it's probably in use by the system eh?
Edit: forgot to enable root permissions for it...derp.
