[Q] Calendar Process com.htc.bgp. help please, insight appreciated... - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

what is this process??
If we remove the calendar apk will this also remove this process that runs constantly??
does anyone have any insight into this before I nand and attempt it??
thank you thank you

also, i never, ever use the calendar...surely its safe to rm calendar.apk/odex, no?? i imagine deleting this as with other things will remove the associated everythings...
im tired...
thank you thank you

well. i deleted the calendar and calendar provider, apk's and odex's.
while calendar is gone-- com.htc.bgp is still active, it is now listed with 'PCSynchronization' right above ObexService.
I imagine if i delete PCSynchronization, Ill be unable to connect to my pc via usb...do you guys think i am correct?
is there a way we can access the location where com.htc.bgp is hiding and delete it? thank you thank you

since my last post...my battery life has been amazing. it was excellent before but now its better. according to my battery status and the up/awake time, my phone goes to sleep immediately as i press the end button. it is fantastic...
anyone got anything on deleting that horrid process, com.htc.bgp?

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Facebook syncing. So I suppose if you killed all instances of your Facebook autosync and perhaps even deleted FB from Accounts & Sync settings, that process would stop as well and not ever need to run.

everything on my device is manual. no background data, etc. as I wrote, the above mentioned process is now listed with pc synchronization rather than calendar (its deleted). did I make that clear enough... I'm a little tired...
edit: posted some screenies...and one of my home screen for giggles...

"Clear Data" of the Calendar also works for the CPU usage of com.htc.bgp

Active Sync Always Running In My Tilt......?

Its seems Active Sync is, more times than not, running on my tilt. Is this normal? If not how do I get it to stop?
I do not sync anything so I have no use for this app with the exception of ROM updates.
its not normal for active sync to always run in your pda
but once u plug ur device to ur PC/notebook active sync will autostart
so i assume u use ur cable frequently this why u could not tell how it starts!

I know, but once you unplug Active Sync it shuts down. I cant figure why it pop-up from time to time.
I have the same problem. I can close it and a little while later it will be open again.

No it does not hurt anything but it does slow down certain functions like web surfing, email, etc.... Thats how I became aware of it.
If anyone knows how to disable Active Sync temporary please let us know.
Yep I get the problem too and I get it on many different ROM's and I also used to get it on my M3100 (Tytn 1) with WM6.0...
I think it may be an OS thing rather than a phone thing.
Any chefs got an idea about this?
Hmmm, I thought I messed it up somehow. Evidently I'm not the only one having the same problem.

there's a regedit for it i believe, i'm almost certain i saw it when cruising my old forum (wizard)
That's how I got rid of Activesync:
Open Activesync --> Menu --> Configure Server
- enter a fake email --> Uncheck "Attempt to detect..." --> Next
- enter a fake server address --> Next
- enter a fake user & domain --> Next
- choose to syncronize no data --> Next
- "Finish"
When it's done, go back to Activesync main screen and choose:
Menu --> Schedule, and set both values to "Manually"
Now the problem should be solved.
Fulcrum
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\ActiveSync\Engines\{176F4FFD-F20C-4bd4-BDD7-01D0726C567B}\Settings\SyncAfterTimeWhenCradled
Try set this value to zero.
Will that get rid of it completely as it is required for flashing new ROM's and I do sync my phone fairly regularly, but i dont want activesync running until i tell it to.
Besides the "create fake exchange server" fix that is mentioned previously, you also have to check in the phone options, and uncheck the "automatic change time zone" box in the "time zone" tab. It seems that every time the time is adjusted, the pda will launch Activesync as well. This problem with activesync always running and draining the battery has been around since Mobile 5.
Oh, and after you create this fake exchange server, and set the sync schedule to manual, you can go ahead and delete it. The schedule setting will remain.
Some folks have reported that if you "uncheck" the automatic time zone in the phone settings, that you will obviate the problem.
Task Manager notifications check
Hi all,
If you use dotfred's task manager to look at the notifications you will see some associated with "repllog.exe" which is the application behind ActiveSync. If there is a notification for this app entitled "AppRunAfterTimeChange" then disable it. This avoids having to unselect the the auto time change box in the Clock and Alarms applet.
Hope this helps. I've managed to stop AS launching, thanks to exs.fake.com
Cheers,

Handcent 3.0

Can someone post the APK for Handcent 3.0 please? Thanks in advance.
I tried googling it, but I figured no one would have it up yet, since it was updated yesterday. Thanks again!
Pretty sure were not aloud to post or send .apks...
and I just updated Handcent, it's whatever to me.
I think you're not allowed to post unless it's free. I don't have google add-ons because I don't have a data plan. Thanks anyways :]

Hahaha no I am an end user of Handcent and just updated it from the market, it doesn't stand out much to me.
The new editing tools seem copied from Chomp anyway.
enjoy.........
Once loaded... how can I disable the resident SMS from ALSO running at the same time?
Greetings.
As my title indicated, once I have installed Handcent, or even ChompSMS... how do I disable the original resident SMS program from ALSO running? When I ran it before on my Motorola Droid - 2.1.1 - I would not only get the SMS text reader that came with the device, but also the downloaded program app. Having both pop-up in the task bar was more of a distraction than a battery drain. What command, if any, is available to keep the resident one OFF, rather than have it turn on, too?

disable notifications? that sounds pretty logical.
When running Handcent or ChompSMS - how do we...?!
Greetings!
I was wondering - when running either Handcent or ChompSMS... how do we DEselect or prevent the resident messaging app from also running - so we won't be getting TWO apps offering repeated messages...??
Android commander/Droid explorer or terminal to remove the apks. Keep a backup!
I cannot remember where I read this, but someone removed the original SMS/MMS app from autostart, and he did not receive messanges any more.
So turn off the notifications from the original SMS client is a good idea, removing or stopping it is not reccomendet.

[Q] Galaxy Tab APKs on i9000

Although my issue is specific to the Email.apk from the Galaxy Tab, I expect that if this is a real problem then we will experience it with other apps sooner or later.
For some reason the Galaxy Tab Email APK does not show properly on the i9000 screens. Important parts of the interface are cut off, rendering it virtually unusable. I don't expect that it is broken, just need to change settings somewhere and make it draw properly on our screen.
Some advice and direction would be greatly appreciated on going about this
There is a modded version of the TAB's email apk which works a charm on the SGS. You can find it here.

Hotmail is working for me ... I had to adjust settings and change it to an exchange server, but it works.
The main problem for me is not being able to see the bottom of the APK to hit refresh or confirm other menu selections.
I think you mean the "load more messages" thing? That is weird indeed. Could be a bug. But really this is not the right thread to bring it up, do it the one I linked to.
I appreciate the help but you would do well to read that thread first before recommending it, as well as understand my question before filing it away.
1. Not talking about "load more messages". It works sometimes and other times it doesn't typically when there is no saved data on it, it works fine. When there is any, it doesn't pull and gives the load more messages issue.
2. The APK works fine .. it just needs to be calibrated to our screen setting. This may be a problem singular to this APK but I don't know for sure. To cover all bases I'm trying to see if I can get my hands on the odex from the Tab so I can see if that is needed to make it work correctly.
Also this has more to do with debugging APKs than it does to do with this specific email client.
You could download a TAB firmware and get the needed files?
I'd need to install it on a Galaxy Tab (which I don't have) just to pull the odex :/

"Xperia inside Facebook" does not work at all

Hi everyone,
I got my brand new Xperia Z yesterday and, coming from an old Wildfire S, I absolutely love the speed and smoothness of this phone. I have set it in the last few days and everything works apart from the "Xperia inside Facebook"-syncing-thingy (I hope that's what it's called in English as in German it is "Xperia für Facebook") which is the on-board programme to sync contacts, statuses, calendar and stuff, if I am not mistaking (and obviously I cannot tell as I cannot use it at all)
The problem is this:
When I want to activate this I have to confirm that the app can use my facebook information. After that I have to choose whether the app should inform my friends about me using it. No matter if I click "confirm" or "skip" here, always the following happens: I get a message saying "Error. Try again later"
I did try later, it never worked. I also
- deleted FB-account on my phone
- restarted phone
- deleted FB and restarted
- deleted FB-update in case the error was because of a new FB version
- checked security settings in FB
- tried with Wifi and 3G
It doesn't work at all! My brother has the same phone and he just tried once and it worked! Really annoying!
Any idea how to solve this problem?
Cheers.
So did you add facebook from the settings sync menu?, there is also an xperia with facebook, which is mostly for syncing your social life feeds, for me in the latest ROM .434 this no longer works, on my phone now just shows No Posts, or maybe I have no friends anymore.

Hey,
Yes, that's what I mean... Xperia with Facebook... I tried to sync that, but I just can not log in! I always get the message "Error. Try again later"... I can sync with normal FB, though. I just Xperia with FB was better as I could also sync calendar an stuff...
I am still on .350 software version of the XZ, as my provider does not support .434...

Is there actually a way to configure it manually? Because I used the wizard as well, but it, as I said, crashes on the final step and I have no idea why! But thanks for your answer, anyways.

Adding it manually via settings and accounts, add account. I would remove it from there, then reboot the phone, then use this method to add it back, and see how you go.

Allow unlimited data access, whitelist from battery saving, and allow to run in background.
Allow the app to ignore battery optimization too

I've tried all the suggestions here and still have trouble. I'd leave my phone for an hour or so, turn the screen on and a whole bunch of notifications come pouring in from WhatsApp, Gmail, Messenger etc.
My settings are:
1. Apps -> Apps -> Special Access -> Battery Optimisation -> Not Optimised (for all my email and messaging apps)
2. Battery -> App Launch -> Manage Manually (for all my email and messaging apps)
3. Wireless & Networks -> Data Usage -> Data Saver -> Off
Is there anything else I need to do? This is a serious problem for me and quite frankly, I need to get a new phone if this keeps happening.

Thanks for your reply. I've already done that actually. If you don't touch your phone for say an hour, are you sure the notifications are coming in when it's sleeping and not just when you turn your screen back on?

Thanks for your help, I've discovered the issue now. I don't remember if someone mentioned this earlier and I'm not sure how I missed it, but the issue wasn't the apps closing when the phone went to sleep (since I did everything to make sure they didn't close), the problem was that the phone would switch off LTE and/or Wifi when the screen is off. The setting that controls this is in: Settings - Battery - More Battery Settings - Stay connected when device sleeps. Make sure this is turned on (it was turned off for me before).
I feel almost certain this was turned on in the past and feel it was only turned off in one of the firmware updates. I most certainly would never have turned that off. I can't believe they would use that as a default option since I can imagine only the most battery conscious users would want that off. They should at least have an option where the phone would automatically turn data back on periodically to check for notifications. I know there are third-party apps that do this but if they're going to include an option like that built-in, they should do it properly.
Anyway, problem solved, hope this helped someone else out there.
I have the same issue, but Stay Connected is on, and has been for as long as I've had the problem (2-3 days). No new apps, no new updates, affects all my apps. Driving me nuts. Anything else than doing a full wipe left to try?
same here, till yesterday everything was working fine, i didn't install a new app, configuration of battery settings, data background running is the same, also app locked in recent to run backround as before. update i did before 3 weeks. very strange
I'm very sure this problem occur since the newer software update, my device have same issue.
You can check how to remove PowerGenie (the huawei stock battery management), removing PowerGenie 'might' help you fix it.
I called Huawei and asked, and got a fix! It's not a huge lump of fun, but this is it:
Settings - System - Reset - Reset all settings
Note: all your stuff is still there after reset. Only thing that happens is that it forgets your wlans, your fingerprints, face recognition, lock screen pass/pattern, and all kinds of logins and permissions on your apps. And your apps will jump out of folders and make a hell of a mess. But it worked splendidly for me, notifications are popping up as they should, when they should. Gave me a nice chance to re-arrange my apps even.
Happy thoughts to Huawei (Norway) for having customer service available on the phone, on a regular number, and answering within a few seconds.

I just did it today and it was a complete lost of time. In addition of losing all settings (bluetooth, Wifi, applications and folder on launcher,...) it was not helping with notifications: no Outlook, no WhatApps, no banking app... In other word, nothing, it was worse than before.
I will continue to test settings like controlling launching applications and exclude applications from battery optimization.

Is it just push notifications you're not getting or are messages not coming through at all until device unlocked/app opened? I've been trying all sorts, searched "data" in settings and stumbled upon "unrestricted data access" all apps are disabled on this. Hoping next few hours will show that's me sorted finally.
Once my screens been off 15 minutes, friends WhatsApp msgs only show 1 grey tick their end until I open WhatsApp again
